Opening Balance Missing from Trial Balance

Hi Experts,
I have a query with the calculation of the Trial Balance in SAP.  I have the following simple scenario:
G/L Account 101010 is a Balance Sheet account and has 2 entries:
£50 Debit on 01.08.08
£1000 Debit on 20.08.09
I think it is fair to say that the Opening Balance for 2009 for the account 101010 is £50 Debit.
However, when running the Trial Balance for the period 01.01.09 to 31.12.09, the Opening Balance is not included in the report, even when I select Opening Balance for the Period: OB from Start of Fiscal Year.
If I select Opening Balance for the Period: OB from Start of Company Activity OR do not select a start date, the £50 is included.  However, the P&L items on the report then show the postings prior to 01.01.09.
Please advise how I can run a Trial Balance which displays the following:
1. Balance Sheet GL Account Balances including Opening Balances as at the start of the Fiscal Year
2. Profit and Loss GL Account Balances with balances for the current year only.
Thanks
Greig

Hi Jeyakanthan,
Thanks for your answers.  However, you misunderstood my question - I want both scenarios on the one report!
In effect I want a Trial Balance which lists Balance Sheet accounts including their balances from the previous period AND Profit and Loss accounts with balance for this Year only.
This type of Trial Balance is a true picture of a company's position.
Thanks
Greig

  • Stock opening balance missing on Trial Balance report

    Hi all,
A client is having a problem with their trial balance report. The report does not balance and the problem seems specific to the Stock account in the Assets drawer which does not show the opening balance.
They are running a report from the start of the company's business activities. For the first year, it's not showing the OB nor debit and credit balances. For the next year, it's not showing the OB but shows the debit and credit balances, same for other years.
    What could be the cause?

    Hi
The most common issue will be not having correct selection criteria. Can you  play around with some selection criteria .
One of them would be  Checkbox - Hide account with no posting
Hope this helps to reolve your issue

  • Fault found with opening balances output on Trial Balance report

When running the Trial Balance report and adding "Opening Balances" and taking the "OB from Start of Fiscal Year" option, the relevant opening balances are not shown from the closing balance of the prior period.
All balance sheet accounts should always show a "brought forward" balance if one exists, whereas P&L Accounts should only carry balances forward over monthend boundaries, resetting at the point of a yearend. This is not the output provided by the report.
This issue has been checked on numerous patch levels (including the beta release of 2007a SP01 by a support consultant) and returns the same problem.

    Hi Julian,
I checked the functionality by myself and I have two findings:
    1) that the Trial balance displays in the opening balance balances for the P&L accounts from previous period.
    2) On the other side there is a functionality "Add closing balances" on the Trial balance selection criteria with option "Closing balances before Selected Period Only" which would adjust the presented opening balances for P&L accounts in point 1.
Based on your description I understand that Global Support Center knows about the issue, so I think the point 2 could be used as temporary workaround till the system is corrected.

  • Difference in Open Balance As per Trial Balance and General Ledger in SAP

    Dear All,
1 ) Whle generating trial balance in SAP B1 for one Business master there is a difference in Opening Balance as per Trial Balance and as per General Ledger how ever closing balance in matching.
    Difference As follows
Report Name      ob cr     ob dr           dr                   cr                                  CL
    General Balance          614536     19237612.34            18650320.01     1201828.33
    Trial balanceB     4521743.19          19237612.34       13514040.82     1201828.33
Is it possible  the open balnce should be same in both report. The opening balance as per GL report is correct.
    2)  I have run the period end closing for Apr- 2010 to Mar 2011 after that I generated the traial balance for Apr-1-2011 where the opening balances for expense account  and revenue account is showing technically after period end closing the balance become zero for all closing balance revenue and expenses accounts.
Please note that there are some entries in revenue and expense account in on 1st apr. 2011.
    Please guide on this.

    Hi,
I think you should re-visit the selection creteria for the Trial balance.
The Display Opening Balance has two options. If you select from 'Start of Company activity', then it will include every balance of previous year.
Check for the Display Closing balance option as well. As you have performed the Period End closing, the checkbox options can have an impact on the outcome in the report.
    Check the selection again.

  • Balance Sheet is different from Trial Balance

Have a client that is on SQL 2005, SAP B1 8.8 PL 10  They are in an audit and when running their Balance Sheet their Purchases Clearing u2013 Allocation Account is showing a $0.01 balance.  Yet when they run the Trial Balance Report it does not show up.  Also when reviewing the journal entries for the Purchases Clearing u2013 Allocation Account there is no discrepancy there.  We have pulled a copy of their DB over to our test box with the same setup and the issue still happens.  Updated to PL 17, still the same issue.  Again the client is in an audit at this time.

Issue was opened with SAP.  There was issue with certain Journal Entries where there is a difference of cents in the Local and the System Currency. However, the System Currency and the local Currency is same i.e. US Dollars.
They sent a script that was run on the clients db to resolve the issue.

  • FI doc not having effect in Balance Sheet or Trial Balance Reports

    Hello All,
An FI doc which debits an G/L Account (Part of Asset side) & credits "Creditors Reconciliation account". when I see the effects thru FBL3N it has been posted correctly.
But When I see Balance Sheet Report or Trial Balance Report, such reports are not taking effect of above refered FI doc.
For Ex." GL Account 1234"  is having balance Rs. 10000/- (credit balance) (If seen thru FBL3N)
One doc for Rs. 100 is posted which credits this account (included in above INR 10000)
Now when I see Balance Sheet, It only shows balance of "G/L 1234" INR 9900
Please try to resolve the problem. Waiting for your reply.
    Thanx & best Regards

  • Difference in GL account balance & Balance showing in Trial Balance

    Hi,
Actually we found that in  balance of a Gl account in FBL3N and balance in FS10N as well as in F.08 ( Trial Balance ) not matched with each other.
Can anybody suggest how can it be possible.
I have checked there are two documents which are affecting the Gl account balance in FBL3N but not affecting the same in Trial Balance due that there are diffference in Amount showing in Trial Balance and Amount showing in Gl account.
    Pls suggest the reason.
    Thanx,
    Sandeep

    Hi Sandeep,
After running the T/Code F.08 i.e. for Trial Balance if there is a difference then run the T/Code F.03 - GL Account Summary. This report will show you the GL's because of which there is a difference in the Trial balance.
Also if you find particular GL who is showing the differences in the Line Items"  (i.e. FBL3N report) and in GL Balance (May be FS10N - Master Data) then see the Master data of that GL in T/Code - FS00 - to find out the changes done in that GL . One of the change could be "Line Item Display". If we disselect this option then transactions get posted but will not get reflected in FBL3N (Line item display) . Final Amount (of FBL3N) will not match with the GL Balance (FS10N or Master Record)
We are also facing same problem. Finding the solution (ABAP Program) to identify the entries made in between the disselection & again selection  of "Line Item Display".
If you know the solution pls. share
    Assign the points if useful

  • Wind.8bf file missing from trial version photoshop cs5?

I am trying to learn a specific text effect and the tutorial uses the "wind" filter in photoshop.  I am currently using a trial version of PS cs5, and have been able to use all features so far...  has the wind filter been ommitted from the trial version?  Also, I downloaded an older version of the Wind.8bf file and located it within the correct /plugin/filters/ folder, but PS still does not recognize it.
    Does anyone have a suggestion?
    thanks,
    Neil

Did you look in Filter - Stylize - Wind?
It only works on pixel-based layers.  Is the tutorial based on an older version of Photoshop, or have they done something to the text to rasterize it into pixels?
If I recall correctly, the Wind filter is provided in Photoshop CS5 as part of a single plug-in file that provides a whole bunch of filters.  I believe they did this to help speed up the startup, as Photoshop doesn't have to enumerate so many plug-ins this way.
Generally speaking, you should not put the separate 8bf file from another version of Photoshop into the folder tree for the current version, and in fact this can break things.  Remember to remove the file you put in place.

  • Opened emails missing from Outlook

Each email that is open on my iPhone is missing when I access email in Outlook- Help!

Gmail is rarely if ever configured as POP3.  It should be configured as Exchange or IMAP and no issue exists.
For the POP3 account on your iPhone, there should be an advanced setting option for the account that will allow you to check the box to keep email on the server.
Frankly, if you have your Gmail account set up as POP3, I would delete it and re-add it as either IMAP or Exchange.  POP3 is an ancient standard that does not allow true syncing between the server and multiple clients.

  • Opening Balance only for Assets and Liabilities in Trial Balance Report

    Hi SAP B1 members,
    Following is my query :
I would like to see the Opening balance in the Trial Balance report only for Assets and Liabilities and not for Revenue and Expenses.Though the other details such as Debit,Cumulative balance etc should be seen for all Assets,Liabilities,Revenues and Expenses.Kindly help.

    Hi,
You can try the option of running the Trail Balance for Assets and Liabilities with the Opening Balance checkbox and the other for revenue and other drawers without checking the Opening Balance.
Export the values to Excel and consolidate the reports to get the required result(if that is what is needed).

  • GL accounts with no postings are appearing in Trial Balance

    Hi Experts,
When the Trial balance is run by selecting the below parameters in 'Trial Balance Report Selection Criteria':
    1. 'Hide Accounts with No postings'
    2. 'OB from Start of Company Activity'
The G\L Accounts having no postings in the posting date selected and having transactions entered before this period are displayed in the Report.
However, in the General Ledger Report with similar selection criteria, the same G\L Accounts are not displayed in the Report.
As stated in note 1632198, the system checks for the data from the beginning of the company activity and doesn't take into account the posting dates selected in the selection criteria. It is also stated that this behavior is the current system definition.
So, please I would like that SAP changes this behavior and I believe that it will make more sense that the system considers the specific year selected in the posting date.
    Thank you in advance.
    Nadia.

    Hi,
The system logic is different for the General Ledger and the Trial Balance. Both the reports have different reporting requirements, Trial Balance being the display of the balances and opening and closing while Trial balance being the detailed output of the transactions happening during the F.Y. selected.
For having the zero balanced accounts not appearing in the Trial Balance, check whether selecting 'OB from start of Fiscal Year' helps you any way.

  • How to solve the OB problem of 'Raw Materials' account in Trial Balance?

    Dear Friends,
In a 'Perpetual Inventory' system how to show the opening balance of Inventory Account in Trial balance as other account's opening balance?
You can check this out with some opening balances entered for GL Accounts (from Administration -> system initialization -> opening balance) and some initial quantity of inventory items entered (in inventory transactions) on - let's say a company's starting date 1-1-06.

    Hi Gordon,
My SBO version is 8.8 PL 10, Indian Database. I want to see the "Raw Material" G/L Account's opening balance in the Opening Balance Column of Trial Balance or similar report of SBO. The technical problem behind this is - the mentioned reports shows the the amounts in OB column if that amount is entered by the OB Transactions (in Administration -> System Initialization). But how to manage the Raw Material / Inventory G/L through this concept, as the OB amount for this is entered through Inventory Initial Quantity. We can do the entry one day before the expected starting date of the financial period, is that can be a standard practice? For. e.g. entering the opening balance for 1-1-06 on 31-12-05.

  • Account analysis/trial balance

    Hi Gurus
We have a situation where by when we run the account analysis report,it doesnt return the correct balance as per trial balance, the accounts in the trial balance are correct and shows an amount more than what is on the account analysis, what could be the problem.
any assist will be greatly appreciated

    Hi Grace
Future dated payments are the post dated cheques (in layman's language). For example - When we take some office space on rent, we need to pay monthly rent for it. Generally, the owner of the office would like to have the cheques provided to him on the date of agreement dated for the respective month (as a matter of security). These cheques will bear the date for the respective months. Lets say you enter into an agreement on 01-May-2010 for one year, you will provide 12 checks dated 01-May-2010, 01-Jun-2010, 01-Jul-2010 etc. All these checks would be post dated payments.
These payments do not reduce the cash/bank balances as on the date of issue. This happens on the date of maturity of payment (check date). These payments are entered into the oracle system by using the payment method "Bills Payable" or any similar payment methods.
The accounting for these payments (at the time of recording the payment) - Supplier Liability Dr. and Future Dated Payment Liability credit. It will not have much impact on the trial balance except for the fact that the liability code combination would change -- from supplier liability to future dated liability. On the date of maturity, when you run the report to matrue the bills payable, the status of the payment changes to negotiable and then the accounting takes place - Future Dated liability dr... and cash/cash clearing credit.
Hope this explains. Let me know if you have any further question or ned any further clarity
