Opening Blurb on latest MacbookPro

When I try to open Blurb (an online book publishing program) I am told I have to install legacy Java SE 6 runtime. I have downloaded Java for OS X 2014-001
for my MacBookPro (Yosemite) which is the software tdownload hat comes up when I click on the link provided and when I try to open Blurb after this download I am getting the same message.
Any answers anyone?

OK...just answered my own question...I had to open up the new software for Java and continue install.....

iTunes (Win7 x64) is no longer opening after the latest version update - I have attempted an un/reinstall - can anyone offer other suggestions?
I am running Windows 7 64-bit, and am trying to reinstall the 64-bit iTunes from the iTunes website. I previously have had this working for the last few years with no major issues, the Apple Software Updater has been pestering me for some time so I finally got it to update. However now iTunes will not start, if I select the icons nothing happens. There are no iTunes applications running in the background in Task Manager either.

1. First check if this file APSDaemon.exe is the problem here.
Close your iTunes.
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del key and choose Task Manager. In the "Processes" Tab, select the file APSDaemon.exe and click End Prosses button, then close the task manager window.
Now open itunes and see if it is working?
If that works, to prevent having to do the same process everytime you restart Windows, go to. START button, type in
MSCONFIG
Hit ENTER
Click STARTUP Tab, Uncheck "Apple Push", click OK.
Restart Windows.
2. If that fails, refer to following article to remove SC Files

3. If that fails, repair or reinstall your Quicktime. START / CONTROL PANEL / PROGRAMS N FEATURES / hightlight QUICKTIME and click REAPIR.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

I'm having this issue as well only with a little different twist I guess. I'm transferring the iWorks applications from my Macbook Pro 3,1 with Lion to a new MBP 10,1 running Mountain Lion. I transferred the apps over using DropCopy since the older MBP doesn't have AirPlay. Applications show up but crash upon opening. This is the first install so there are no previous plist, versions or such to delete. All three crashed upon opening every time until I just had to have Keynote and purchased again - although Apple agreed to refund that purchase since my previous version quit working. Any ideas since I don't have any previous plist/versions to delete? Thanks in adavnce for any help you can offer.

How to set file to open with the latest entry?

My "sent" file always opened at the latest entry showing the last email I'd sent but, for some unknown reason, it now loads at the top of the file showing the earliest entry. How do I get it to go back to showing the latest entries, the bottom of the file, rather than the top of the file?

Click on the header labeled DATE to sort on that column. Click the same header a second time to reverse the sort.

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.01 can not open Pages 5.1 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5.1 files can not be opened in Pages 5.
Anything that is saved to iCloud is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has removed over 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs, including files that refuse rto open:

This happened to me with Lion (10.7.4). Here's what I did;
1). Download and install the 9.1 Update http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1322
2). Download and install the 9.3 Update http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1545

Cannot open spreadsheets in latest Numbers app - "Unknown Developer"!

Having tried very hard to keep using the iWork '09 versions of Numbers ( and Pages and Keynote), I finally gave in and am now running a large and important spreadsheet in numbers 3.2 ( or whatever the latest version is). But now, every time I need to open this and other spreadsheets I get the the "Unknown Developer" message + "you need to use a more recent version"...! Talk about adding insult to injury.
Can anybody advise on a, successfully running the new Numbers app and b, even better, reverting to the '09 version (I still have these on my mac)..

Many thanks for this. I was doing something similar for a while. Now my concern is that once the new Numbers app has forced itself on me, and most of my spreadsheets updated to the new version, will it be impossible to roll them back? even though I have the old apps still. Will experiment .

Wayne Contello has written a User Tip for working with the old and new versions of iWork.

The trick is to drag icons for both versions to your Dock. Right click or control click on each and Options > Keep in Dock. That puts you in charge of which version you launch.
Here is a screen shot of both Numbers icons on my Dock.
Numbers 2.3 (Numbers '09) on the left with a three column graph.
Numbers 3.2 on the right with a four column graph.

Both versions will run happily together. Just be sure which version is opening your document.
Instead of double clicking the document, run whichever version of Numbers/Pages/Keynote suits and use File > Open.

It will, but there may be certain changes, which may be profound, especially live Type, depending on the version and thereby how many times the text engine has been changed.

FCS 2 on latest MacbookPro ?

I'm just going to put in my order today for a 17" latest MBP, BUT, the cost of the FCS3 Upgrade here in Australia for FCS3 is $449, and in the US it's $299,
I'm very dissapointed about that, I believe all apple software comes from singapore so it should be cheaper if not the same in our part of the world, plus the Aussie dollar currently is the same as the US.
As long as SL runs FCS2 i'll load that up, This new lappie for me is just a field editor to replace the ageing Powerbook I use when not in the office, My old early 08 Macpro is possibly the best Mac i've owned (and that's been many), the FCS3 upgrade will have to wait, and keep my eye out for the "mooted" next big version realease of FCP.

Opening folders after latest Intel update

Tell me... has anyone come across this problem? I just downloaded the latest intel update, and now I can only open my folders by right clicking. I've already made sure the user file wasn't corrupt. Yet, everything else works just fine when I double click. This is driving me crazy. Someone, please help.

Re-apply combo updater for various issues. At the risk of playing like a broken record, we cannot overstate the value of re-applying the Mac OS X combination updater as a solvent for various issues apparent after using the standard, delta (adjacent version-to-version) updater to migrate to Mac OS X 10.4.9. The delta updater is automatically used by Software Update if your current system iteration is 10.4.8. Re-applying the combo updater overwrites potentially problem-causing files that were not replaced by the delta update. Download link is as follows:

Adobe Reader 10.1.8 cannot open pdfs on latest iMac and MacOS

Hello, I have a new iMac that I got last spring (Feb. 2013) and it came with the latest Adobe Reader, 10.1.8. (I just recently updated my mac OS to Maverick.) Since starting to use this new computer I've had huge problems opening pdfs. that I download from reliable websites via Adobe Reader. The warning I get is that the pdf file is not a supported file type (or it has been damaged), which I don't believe because I am able to open them on my older iMac. I am also able to open pdfs. received via email. This problem is terribly annoying and I'd be grateful for help in solving it. Many thanks.

Trash the AdobePDFViewer.plugin and AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin files.
Empty the trash.
Dowenload the latest Reader (XI -11.0.4) here: http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
Install it to replace Reader X.
PDFs downloaded with Safari will no longer be damaged.
Unfortunately the ones that say they are... are, and you should trash them too.

ITunes does not open. Using latest version on a PC. Windows 7 Professional. 64 bit. 8 week old laptop. Earlier versions of iTunes did open on this computer.

iTunes will not open anymore. I'm using the latest cersion of iTines, Version 11 + downloaded Feb 26 2014. Previous version did not open either. I bought this computer about 8 weeks ago. Since then previous versions of iTunes did open, although performance was iffy. Somethimes the program owould open after a while (1 to 5 minutes), sometimes I'd lose patience. Whenever it did open, it seemed to work ok, sort of.
