Opening calendar attachments on iPad 2

I have an iPad 2 running iOS 5.0.1.I have a question though, I have a PC which is running Outlook 2003, with an Exchange 2003 server. When I set up and calendar entry and attach some documents for a meeting, I can see the attachments and open them on my PC. On a Mac Powerbook running Entourage I can open the calendar and open the attachment, but on my iPad 2, I can see the calendar entry but I cannot open the attachments.......is this a flaw in Calendar or am I being stupid????

Document transfer through meshed peer to peer networking is the perfect example of a dysfunctional office environment.
Wasted bandwidth disseminating the same 30MB slide Deck file to 50 people through "attachments" when a link to an NAS that is on a proper share point with documentation management policies to ensure everyone is using the most up to date information is how information collaboration is done with efficiency.
It's not a "semi-solution" it's the way that organizations who value documentation integrity, network efficiency, and successful collaboration across different hardware platforms conduct business.
Who wants to download 'hundreds of emails' and calendar invites with attached binaries every day on a cellular connection from exchange servers that could be virtualized, running unoptimized infrastructure giving the ios based mobile devices "terminal checking for mail" syndrome because webmail based exchange authentication gets last priority?
Not me.
What if the documentation changed when the calendar invite and attachment arrived in your inbox, and now it's two weeks later and 5 revisions had been made to the document?
Maybe that's why you have over a hundred emails a day. Everyone pushing revised documents in re: threads that simply say "update" with and the time punched in by the user even thigh email is auto time stamped.
Pitty.

  • Can't open calendar attachments in iOS 5

    Hi there,
We've recently upgraded 70 iPad 2's to iOS 5 and we're very happy with all of the new goodies.
One of the new features in iOS 5 is that you allegedly can open attachments in the calendar. We cannot seem to get this to work.
Any idea's?  We use Microsoft Exchange 2010 as our e-mail server and it synchronizes the Agenda to our iPads.
    Thanks!
    D

I am experiencing the same problem on exchange 2007. I would like to know if anybody  has been able to get this working or if there is simply no support for exchange calendar attachments through the iPhone/iPad calendar app.
    Thanks in advance.

  • How can I open TIF attachments on IPad?

I have IOS 4.2.1 on my IPad. I cannot open TIF attachments on mail, even though I am able to do so on my IPhone 4. The setting to upload remote images is on. Any ideas?

    Search for "Large Viewer" app.

  • Cannot open attachments from IPAD last three days.

Unable to open email attachments on IPAD past three days. what's happened?

I don't think you have a virus.  Probably, somehow the windows recipient is not able to handle the way the attachment is sitting inside the mail message.
Try this: take the attachement, zip it (control-click, Archive) and send the resulting zip file. Once the recipient unzips the file they, hopefully, will be able to see a usable file.

  • Why can't I download or open tif attachments on my iPad Air and IPhone 5s in mail running 7.1.2?

Why can't I open tif attachments on my iPad Air and IPhone 5s in mail running 7.1.2?
Tap to Download icon flashes but does nothing.

I just hooked this thing up to my computer and was able to load new apps and update via the app store that way, installing them onto the iPad via sync. Very annoying though as I cannot make in app purchases etc still.
Wish apple wouldn't pull this kind of junk.

  • I can't open email attachments on my ipad that have an arrow on them.  Those with a W open just fine. Also can't open jpeg files-- they also have an arrow on them. Any ideas?

Hi, I can't open email attachments that have an arrow on them. Attachments with a W (windows) open just fine. I have an ipad 3. Thanks for any ideas.

Attachments that show as a bold downward pointing arrow in a gray rectangle in a dotted box have not yet been downloaded to your phone (usually because they are large). Tapping such an icon should download the attachment if you are connected to the internet and your mail server is reachable. Once downloaded, they should appear as normal (which would depend on the attachment type).
This is the "Using iPhone" forum, so I said phone, but the same applies on an iPad.

  • TS3899 I can't open some attachments on my iphone or ipad?

I can't open some attachments on my iphone or ipad. The little paper clip shows on the side but there is no attachment or file in the body of the email to click on to. It's not with all emails - all of the time???  This has happened on with older and the new iOS software.

why is it that I can't delete some photos on my iPhone and iPad?
And in addition to gail's list: if you try to delete edited photos in iPhoto, they will remain on your device. To be able to delete them completely, revert the photo to original before deleting.
    See:  http://help.apple.com/iphoto/ipad/2.0/?lang=en#blnkb9b1e2a
If you delete a photo from the Photos app on your device, the photo is deleted in iPhoto (unless the photo has been edited, captioned, tagged as a favorite, or used in a web journal, slideshow, or photo book).

  • Opening up Attachments in Calendar

I read through a recent post regarding opening of attachments within a Calendar appointment.  I followed what was suggested to do and have the Documents To Go Software (Along with PDF To Go)  on my 8330 Blackberry but still have been unable to open the attachment.  I see the title of the attachment but I looks as if there is no attachment, just a title.  Am I missing something, do I need to reset my phone somewhere or make an adjustment to allow the software to work.  The recent thread says that this is possible, it is the following -
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/board/message?board.id=8300&message.id=51035#M51035
Also,  I am running the Professional version of the Documents To Go on a 30 day trial bases, figured I would test it before I committed to the purchase but I am wondering if this still may be the problem.  Anyway, any assistance would be much appreciated as I would like to be able to utilize attachments within a calendar appointment.

  • I use gmail on my ipad. Why can't I open any attachments? Not word files, not photos, nothing. Thanks

I use g-mail on my ipad. I have no trouble receiving mail, but I cannot open any attachments of any kind. Why?

For Gmail attachments, if they are PDF files (as well as many other formats) when you are viewing them on the iPad in Safari there is an option to "Open in iBooks" just below the tab you have open (at the top of the page).
From iBooks you can print them to a wireless printer easily.
    Hope this helps.

  • TS3276 I can not open gmail attachments  on my iPad, the icon for the file is a down arrow

I can not open gmail attachments  on my iPad, the icon for the file is a down arrow....  that only happend on Gmail account

It could be just an issue with the gmail server. I don't know what settings can be made for attatchments there. I generally leave those messages with large attatchments alone and view them on the computer. I was finding that certain large files like .wmv would sometimes take 5 to 10 minutes to open on the iPad.
Yes it's aggrivating, but I don't have that answer either.
