Opening clips in QT

I'm a new Mac user so please excuse.
When I open Quick time how am I able to open different clips?
I dont want to go to the files in their folders, I want to "file open" from Quick time.

When you use the File/Open choice in the Player you will still have to navigate at least once through various directories to find your movies. Once you have opened a video it will remain in the Open Recent listing for a while, or you can add it to the Favorites choices and have it stay there. To shorten the navigation you could also make aliases of favorite videos and place those on the desktop or in a folder on the desktop.

The "open clip in audition" doesn't work?

I have PPro cs3 and Audition cs3. in Ppro, I should be able to select a clip and choose "open clip in audition". I click on it, but nothing happens. is this a bug in PPro cs3?
any fixes?
I know I can open the file directly in audition, but I bought audtion because they're supposed to be integrated!!!

Where do you find that option? Edit in Soundbooth or edit original are the only options I see.

Double-click does not open Clip Trimmer

Double-clicking a clip in the timeline ought to open the clip in the Clip Trimmer. Oddly, I think it once did for me. Only days ago perhaps. Now it just opens the Adjustments Bar. Instead, I must select Window > Show Clip Trimmer or use its shortcut.
How to get a simple double-click to work in this respect?

I also have Photoshop CS6 installed on a Windows 7 x64 laptop. In Windows double-clicking on a CR2 image in either Bridge or mini-Bridge loads the image into Camera Raw.
Edit in Photoshop CS6 from Lightroom 4.1 launches Photoshop without the dialog box, the same as on the Mac. The image is displayed directly in Photoshop and does not launch the Camera Raw window.
My guess is that there is an issue with Camera Raw 7.1 or Lightroom 4.1 that is causing this behavior.

Premiere will not open clip in Adobe Audition

Working on some footage and I've noticed that Premiere will not allow me to open the clips in Adobe Audition...the menu selection is greyed out.

It doesn't matter what the footage is or what camera its from.
Any guesses?

I checked all the things you suggested, and all of them are greyed out, except when going to the Edit menu, there is an option to edit the Squence in Audition...not the Clip.

Unable to open clips

I have made a movie and was reviewing and changing titles when the system hung, after a forced quit the clips would not load and messages appeared for each clip "skip Cannot Open".
In the cache file the Thumbnails.plist is 3.2MB
The Timeline movie data.plist is 8KB and the Timeline movie 228KB.
On trying to open timeline movie there is nothing to play and no clips are uploaded is there any way of recovering the situation or do I have to remake the movie.

My guess is that there are few in this forum that can help.
Why ? Power failure is about the worst thing that can happen. Many files will
have it's information ripped, destroyed & mixed to an unrepairable state.
I suggest You to start from beginning and re-do.
May be You can find Your captured material intact and move it into a new
project and start editing.

"Can't Open Clip"

Captured a number of clips into iMovie3. Saved saved and saved. Thought I was done. Closed it. Made a new file with new clips. When I try to open the original from Open Recent is says "Clip not found" with all the clips... this can't be happening!... please rescue me!

I may not use Macs very much, but I use them. You may just have to start over on your movie and make sure you don't do something weird.

Opening clips in opposite sequence

I need to open lots of clips at the same time, because needing to write keywords for every clip.
I hilight -lets say 20 at the time and double click on any, which will open all the hilighted once.
The No. 1 first and the No. 20 last.
I would like to see them the opposite way. No 1 last = on top and No. 20 at the bottom, because that is the way I write it on the logsheet.
Is there a way to do that?

Adobe 10 - can't open clips

I just installed 64 bit Adobe Premiere Elements 10 on my Dell XPS 9000 64 bit computer with Windows 7 and 12 GB of memory and 1.5 TB of disk. I loaded a DVD+RW finalized disc made with a Sony Handycam that had a 466 MB video into the DVD drive. The video had 9 clips and was about 10 minutes in length. I created a new Project and "got media" from my PC DVD Drive. What appeared in the Project were page 2/2 of the clip "menu" with 3 clips on it and one clip one minute in length. The one minute clip is actually comprised of of the first 3 clips on the DVD. When I click on properties, the "menu" size is 192 KB and the clip size is 466 MB. When I opened it in the clip monitor the 3 clips play for one minute. No more clips play and there are no more clips in the Project. How can I get the 9 clips to appear separately in the Project?

The default project settings that I used were" NTSC-Hard Disk, Flash Memory Camcorders-Standard 48kHz".
I did not have Quicktime installed so I downloaded Quicktime Version 7.7 (it says 32 bit in the Control Panel) and restarted the PC.
I deleted the previous media from my PC, loaded the DVD into the drive, and got the media.
I did not see the video conforming in the lower right hand corner. Maybe it is not confrorming?
The results were the same as before.
When I play the DVD on the PC, it plays from beginning to end without a problem.
When I look at the file type of the media they are VOB files.

Chrashing after trying to open clip

Everything worked well in the first place, but after using more clips the FC begings to be unstable and chrashed. I´m using the very latest Mac Book Pro with 4GB RAM and a 256GBSSD + an extern 0,5GB Lacie Fire-wire 800. The same happend on my Mac Pro with Dual Xenon CPU´s

If Open File Has an Open Clipping Path-Add IPTC Description

Just looking for any pointers. If I have an image open, I want to run a script that will check the top path(or selected path) for any open points. If it is an open path, add "open path" in the IPTC/Description.
I can not figure this out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nevermind with the problem file link. It was a stupid error on my part. The loop that checks the subpaths was only checking
subPathItems[0]( the first subpath instead of subPathItems[s] ( all subpaths ).

Slide Open and Close Menu

Hello,
I am trying in vane to code a menu to slide open revealing a
photo. I am really having trouble coding the different variables
depending on if the menu buttons are "opened" or
"closed" and how the various buttons relate.

It's impossible to tell what you want to accomplish from your
sample file. I'm guessing that each of those diagonal tabs will be
a movieClip that will slide out to show a photo, and that you want
each to slide out, and any previous tab to slide back in.
If any of this is correct, then one solution is to put the
instance names of each clip into an array. Then you can write a
function that will play the selected movieClip and close any open
clip. Here's an example:

Why is file size of exported clip so large?

I have a movie clip in MPEG-4 format, 3 minutes in duration, 720x400. I ripped it (using Handbrake) from a DVD I own. Let's call this clip Clip A. I wanted it to be smaller, so I used Quicktime Pro 6.5.2 to export it. Let's call the exported clip Clip AE (E for exported). Clip AE has these properties:
Compression: Sorenson Video 3
Quality: High
Frame rate: 15
Width x Height: 310 x 200
Sound format: QDesign Music 2
Sample rate: 22,050 kHz
Channels: Mono
File Size: 5.5 MB
Great. That's just what I wanted. Now I go to a second movie clip I have in MPEG-4 format. This Clip B is only 90 seconds in duration, 720x400. I export it to Clip BE. Clip BE has these properties:
Compression: Sorenson Video 3
Quality: High
Frame rate: 15
Width x Height: 310 x 200
Sound format: QDesign Music 2
Sample rate: 22,050 kHz
Channels: Mono
FILE SIZE: 25.8 MB
In both exports I set the Key Frame Rate and Data Rate to automatic. So, everything is the same except Clip BE, which is half as long in duration as Clip AE, is 5 times larger in file size.
I'm no expert at using QT Pro, but this result just does not make sense to me. Why is the second exported clip 5 times larger than the first one. I wanted to email both of them to my wife at work as a little surprise, but the second one is way too big for my email account. How can I get the file size of that second clip down to the size of the first one? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The second clip probably has more detail or motion than the first.
Open Clip AE and choose "Get Info." Note the data rate of the video.
Now export clip B again, but instead of setting the data rate to automatic, set it to the same number as Clip AE's data rate.
You will lose video quality, but the file should come out smaller.

Can't change clip duration Motion 5

I have tried all of the work arounds I have been able to find in the Support Commnity and still I can't change the duration of source clips in Motion 5. I have trashed plist, rebooted, repaired permisions, changed timing of project, changed name of clip, used the Timeline clock instead of the Instpector window. Cleared all In / Out points and reset them to slightly different values. I have changed Timing to Variable and back again. I can open clips in a new project and change duration. I have opened new project and copied some layers from working project, the problem persists. Is reinstall the option left available to me?

The specifics: Motion 5.0.4 Timeline is set to 6 minutes, the Media is 5:59;21 (QT,mp4, H264,1280x720, 24fps). Imported via File Browser into Layer Group (Group In / Out points are 0 and 6 mins, as is Play Range). At one time the clip was in it's full duration. Afterr a crash / restart it is only 01:52;27. I can not Drag the clip to its full length. I cannot change it's duration thru the Inspector, not the Timeline Clock.
In an effort to isolate the issue I opened a new Project (same time setttings as original Project, imported the clip, which plays to it's full duration, and then, one at a time, copied and pasted all Filters and Parameters and Objects from the original Project; all play fine. Then I copied the original Layer Group in it's entirety to the Test Project, and the clip is still limited to 01:52;27. I then used Replace Media to select a random clips (same format) with varying Duration (all longer than 01:52;27) and got the same result every time; Duraton 01:52;27. Not one element of the Test Project has an In / Out set to anything other than the full Duration of the Project.

Clip viewer window too big

When I press "open clip" it opens the clip in a window that's bigger than my screen, which is a problem since I can't see the key at the bottom. Whenever this has happened with other software, I would just press the green maximize button and it would resize to fit my window. However, on this window the green maximize button is greyed out. So are the preferences. Any ideas? Thank you.

Just to throw one more tag on to your question- don't know if it would work with your computer, but it should work with anyone with a retina display screen as on my newer MacBook Pro.
Open Preferences, then open Displays in the second row, and of the two choices at the upper part of the window click on Display if it is not already selected. Below it click on Scaled, and 5 boxes will be shown relating to text size, labeled: Larger Text.......Best (Retina)......More Space.
As you click on the smaller print size choices your open (actually all) windows will be commeasurably resized along with the font size and will result in a window for which you can use the edge arrows to put the bottom up high enough, so that when you click on your former font sized choice of the 5 choices and resume your normal window sizes, you will be able to have all your iTunes' window on your screen ready to utilize.
