Opening Color 1.5 with 1.0
Is it possible to open and change an apple color session that was done in 1.5 with 1.0?
It is possible to open the project, but the grade values are not likely to translate correctly as there was a change in how the transform is applied.

My illustrator CS6 crashes when i try to open an AI file with RGB color mode. I worked on this file yesterday and changed it to RGB mode. Today i tried to open the file again but illustrator won't open it and crashes. It does work when i want to open a file with CMYK color mode.
Anyone know how to fix this ?Have you tried trashing the prefs?

How to scan both sides of document in color to pdf with the dr-m160?
how to scan both sides of document in color to pdf with the dr-m160?
Hi healthynhappy1.
To scan a 2-sided document, you will need to change the scanner settings in the software.
If you are using Capture On Touch:
You will need to turn off the "Scan in Full Auto" option.
Next, you will open [Scanner Settings] and change the "Scanning Side" to Duplex.
Verify that the [Color Mode] shows "24-bit Color" and when you get the option to save the file, verify the [File Type] shows as "PDF".
If you are using CapturePerfect:
Click [Scan].
Click [Scanner Settings].
Change the [Scan Side] to "Duplex".
Verify that [Color Mode] is set for "Color" and then save the file as "PDF".
I hope that this information is helpful to you. Should you need further assistance, please contact us at 1-800-OK-CANON (1-800-652-2666). Have a great day!

Coloring a Font with a RGB etc. without adding the color to the document swatches.
Is there a way of coloring a font with a RGB, Lab or CMYK color without adding the color to the document swatches.
The only way I know is to add a color to the swatches or use one that already exists.
like
app.selection[0].characters[0].fillColor=document.colors.add({colorValue: [255, 53, 160], space: ColorSpace.RGB});}
This has the undesired effect of cluttering up the swatches when using a lot of colors.
any ideas?Good Morning Uwe!
After 3am by me 2am by you
I had tried the link and it did download but I have cs5 cs6 and cc but not cs5.5 and all the scripts worked on them may because of the file conversion.
So it looks like the following summary is all correct
All documents new contain
Swatches (Black, Registration, Paper and None) the index order will be the order that the swatches appear in the swatches panel
And colors in an alphabetical index order
named color "A" first "Z" last and then the unnamed colors.
A such all new documents colors[-1] will be an unnamed color which we can duplicated to produce other unnamed colors taking note that the duplication must be process and not spot colors.
So far so good, (not for long )
Unnamed colors are not read only so if we make a positive effort to remove them we can do that.
while (app.activeDocument.colors[-1].name == "") app.activeDocument.colors[-1].remove()
We now won't have any unnamed swatches to duplicate and will have to resort to John's tagged text file method in 3 above.
If there were no unnamed swatches and we try to duplicate colors[-1] and it was a color like "Yellow" then it seem's to crash indesign.
Anyway the below method should always work (for regular non tint etc. type colors).
// optimized for easy of use but not efficiency !!!
var doc = app.documents.add();
var p = doc.pages[0];
p.textFrames.add({contents: "RGB", geometricBounds: ["0mm", "0mm", "30mm", "30mm"], fillColor: addUnnamedColor([0, 0,255])}); // will be a RGB

How to open 32 bit PNG with unpremultiplied alpha?
I've got the latest Photoshop CC (2014) and I've been trying to figure out how to import a 32 bit PNG file with an embedded but unpremultiplied alpha channel in it. So this is a PNG image with four channels: Red, Green, Blue, and Alpha. Unfortunately, when I open it in PS, I get a three channel (R, G, B) image where PS has cheerfully premultiplied the alpha into the other channels, as you can see here:
The "glow" is the Alpha channel's unwanted effect.
I know the Alpha channel is still there because if choose Channel-->Split, I get four grayscale images: myimage_red, myimage_green, myimage_blue, and myimage_transparency. So the Alpha information is being kept separate, but PS is being "helpful" and premultiplying it on the open.
Is there a setting or anything else that can overcome this behavior?
Note: The reason for this is that I'm using the "alpha" channel for something else (ambient occlusion) in a CG program and it should not be being used for transparency at this point. (Long story.)Thank you for your prompt response! I apologize if I misused the term "premultiplied." Here's what I am familiar with the term from: https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/compositing-alpha-channels-adjusting-clip.html
With straight (or unmatted) channels, transparency information is stored only in the alpha channel, not in any of the visible color channels. With straight channels, the effects of transparency aren’t visible until the image is displayed in an application that supports straight channels.
With premultiplied (or matted) channels, transparency information is stored in the alpha channel and also in the visible RGB channels, which are multiplied with a background color. The colors of semitransparent areas, such as feathered edges, are shifted toward the background color in proportion to their degree of transparency.
So, here is what I see on my Photoshop screen when I open this image. Note that there are only THREE channels displayed, Red, Green and Blue (and the composite RGB channel). All three of them display transparency, allowing the (in this case checkered) background to show through:
Now, if I select Channels-->Split Channels I get these FOUR images. Note that there is a "Transparency" channel which has my separate information that I want, and there are three color channels, none of which display transparency. This is what I meant by "premultiplied". In the default mode above, Photoshop has "multiplied" each color channel by the "Transparency" channel. This is the behavior I was seeking to avoid. Can you offer any further advice on how to prevent this automatic use of the "Transparency" layers, or is this something that Photoshop does not support at this time?

Lightroom color not consistant with PSCS4/Bridge. Help please.
Hi All,
I started with a search, but didn't find an answer that covered what I'm seeing.
OK, first of all, let me set this.
I'm running a MacBook Pro 2.2, OSX 10.6, with a 23" Apple Cinema Display (non-glossy screen) attached as my main work monitor for my LR, PSCS and all my other photography and graphics work. Any reference here is referring to the 23' ACD as that is my calibrated color reference point. And for the record, both the ACD and the MBP are fully hardware calibrated on a regular bases.
What I'm seeing is gorgeous color and pop in LR, but more muted colors in PSCS4 and Bridge. I have noticed that if I open a single image in both PSCS4 and Apple's 'Preview' app, the PSCS4 rendering matches the Bridge preview dead-on. While the 'Preview' app's rendering looks more like the LR previews. So it would seem to me that LR is 'talking' to the systems color rendering, while PSCS4 and Bridge are more, 'on their own', yet talking to each other.
I work almost completely in Adobe 98 color space. I export out of LR into PCSC4 as Adobe 98 PSD files. I continue to work in Adobe 98, and even re-enter the PSD files back into my Lightroom catalogs with their attached color space. In LR, I get the same 'look'. Nicely saturated color with a little pop, but if I open up the files again in PSCS4 they again, look somewhat 'muted'. But, I have tried this using multiple file types (psd, jpeg, raw) as well as sRGB color space. The results are the same. It seems application specific, NOT file-type specific.
Now I can understand maybe a slight color difference between PSCS/Bridge and say maybe Corel 'Painter'. But I am not understanding this obvious color difference between supposed related Adobe apps such as LR and PSCS4, again, while working on the same calibrated monitor.
FYI, my Epson 2400, using Epson's custom profiles, looks fantastic printing out of LR's Print module. (I love the LR Print module!).
My problem here is, I need to send files out to certain print houses for album printing and such (usually in sRGB color space). I have confidence with what I'm seeing in the Lightroom previews of my files. But the PSCS4 files are just too 'dull' looking. Kind of nervous to let them go out the door.
Final note, my entire Adobe Creative Suite is set to 'North American Prepress 2'.
Thanks for any help you can send my way.
-SolOne thing I would try is to run with only one monitor (close the MacBook's lid and unsleep it by hitting a key on an external keyboard or only use the built-in display) and see if the problem persists.
Lightroom and Photoshop use the exact same color management module with just a few small differences. In general, you should get identical rendering of colors but for a few exceptions. One is that Lightroom always uses perceptual intent rendering and Photoshop always uses relative. Some color calibrators generate v4 profiles with a built in perceptual profile. The colormunki is one of those. With profiles like that you will see very subtle differences between Lightroom and Photoshop. Generally not something as strong as what you describe. Another difference is that Lightroom in the Develop module does NOT apply the color noise reduction when zoomed out, only when zoomed in at 1:1 or higher. The result of this is that sometimes, if you have lots of saturated color fine detail, the Develop module shows you a falsely oversaturated image when zoomed out. A good example of this happens with flowers in a grass field, finely detailed fall color leaves, or neon lights. You can see the effect by switching back and forth between Develop and Library or simply by zooming in at 1:1. Library will appear far less saturated as will the 1:1 display. You can solve this issue by lowering the color noise reduction to zero. Lastly, you wouldn't be the first to be fooled by the relatively dark background in Lightroom. This can make everything appear more saturated than the equivalent display in Photoshop which usually has a lightish grey as background or simply your desktop. This is a small effect but I have found it to be surprisingly large a few times. You can change the color of the background in Lightroom to play with this by control (or right) clicking in the matte area. -

Open Pages 3 documents with Pages 5?
I'm thinking of updating from Pages 3.x to 5.x.
Is it true one cannot open Pages 3 files with Pages 5?
If so, what is the workaround?Yes, it's true. The new versions cannot open any iWork '08 or earlier documents or templates. You will get an error saying to open the files in iWork '09 then open them in the new version. I suggest that you buy a retail copy of iWork '09 from a third party such as Amazon or eBay & then update to the new iWork apps in the Mac App Store. You might check this link for the iWork '09 trial. I have no idea if it is still available.
If you’ve already purchased the new iWork apps in Mavericks, you can also use this trick to get Pages 4.3. If you still have access to a Mac running Mountain Lion. It must be Mountain Lion or Lion. Snow Leopard won't work. If the iWork '09 apps are installed, compress them & delete the originals. Launch the Mac App Store & click on the 'install' buttons under the iWork apps. You will get a message that you can't install the new version on this Mac but it will offer to download the previous version for you. Voilá, you have the self-contained apps that you can copy to another Mac.
If you don't want to use iWork '09 to convert the files to a format that the new versions can open you can export them as Microsoft Office documents - Word, Excel, PowerPoint - then open those in the new versions. -
Pages 5.5.1: When opening a document created with Pages '09 (Version 4.0) with Pages 5.5.1 the page header and the page footer are deleted. How can this be prevented? Or is this a bug in Pages 5.5.1?
Same problem here (no graphics in header or footer) and the problem has been reported months ago. It is another bug/feature lost when Apple moves from 09 to the iCloud-compatible versions. Complain to Apple, you may have better chance than me and they may finally listen to their users....

When I click to open a photo it opens a black screen with a grey triangle, exclamation mark in the middle. How do I fix this problem?
Make a temporary, backup copy of your library if you don't already have one (Control-click on the library and select Duplicate from the contextual menu) and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
