Opening email files in iOS 8.0.2

Files I have always used routinely on my iPad  now, having updated to iOS 8.0.2,  won't open from emails into QuickOffice. is this a known issue and does anyone have a solution?

Has QuickOffice been updated to be fully compatible with iOS 8?
Is an update available that you have not installed?
What other troubleshooting steps have your tied? What was the result?
Try deleting then reinstalling QuickOffice. It may need to register itself with IOS 8 to appear in the share sheet.

  • Can't Open Excel Files in iOS 6

One of my co workers upgraded to the new iOS 6 last week and now they can't open some of the Excel files from their iPhone 4S.  I can open the file with no problem, I have iOS 5.1.1 iPhone 4S.  iOS 6 can open some of the excel files, but I know it can't open them all.  Some of the .xlsx files will open but some can't.  Anyone else having this problem?

Here is the pic of what happens why he opens the file on iOS 6.  It does not go any further.  I open it fine with no problems, I am on iOS 5.1.1

  • Mail app doesnt open pdf files (iPhone5 & ios 7.0.4)

    Hello,
our CEO can´t open pdf files from email attachments on his iPhone 5 on ios 7.0.4.
    Normal behaviour:
Usually the mail app opens the pdf from the email and you can scroll through the pages and everything is okay.
    Error description:
But in our case when tipping on the pdf icon at the bottom of an email, the mail app just jumps to the top of the email and nothing else happens.
After doing this two or three times,  the icon changes to a picture showing  the first page of the file. Tipping on the picture opens the known "save picture" menu.
    Solutions I tried:
    - Holding the thumb on the pdf icon does nothing.
    - After forwarding the email to another ios device (verified with iPhone and iPad) the pdf file can be viewed without problems.
    - Restart (holding top and home button)
    - I read in a community that the app "Stanza" can cause the problem. Check: It has never been installed on the device.
    Solutions I didn´t try:
    - Recovery from an iTunes backup. (As i read, this doesn´t solve the problem.)
    - Recovery without an iTunes backup. (As i read, this will solve the problem (-no surprise). But this is no valid solution for our CEO.)
    Question:
Does anybody know the problem and a constructive solution? Thank you very much!
    Best regards
    Mr Flame

    Thanks for the answer.
The error is occuring with every pdf file attached to an email.
I know, you don´t need 3rd party software. That´s why I posted this as a problem to the community.

  • Can't open office files on iOS 7 or 8

using iPhones 4, 4s, 5 and 5s all with at least iOS7 or greater.  users receive email from our exchange server with microsoft office file attachments (word, excel and powerpoint) and they cant open them.  They hit "download entire message" and then try to open the file.  It takes us to a grey screen with the file name on top, the file name in the middle of the grey screen and it says "Office Open XML Presentation" then the size 870k.

I have just downloaded Adobe reader on to ipad 2. I tried opening a Pdf in ibooks and then Adobe reader. I can only get the introductory pages. I can open the full dcument using adobe reader on my Mac?
It is one of those rare occasions where Apple comes off badly against microsoft. Opening a pdf attachment using windows is a doddle. Opening a pdf document on my mac seems to require me to save the document first - clunky to say the least, opening a pdf on ipad - impossible! All in all pretty rubbish. Can't believe they don't have something like this nailed.

  • Reader 11...will not open emailed files

I get this error mesage with Reader 11..."there was an error opening this document.  The file is damaged and could not be repaired.

Or even better: to use a file sharing service like Files at Acrobat.com, Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, ...
Attaching e-documents to emails can lead to all sorts of problems: getting lost or misdirected, damaged, and there is always the email size limitations.

  • Cannot open pdf files in IOS 6

Cannot save a pdf file since I upgraded to IOS 6. When I choose the open option (top right arrow) a empty screen pops up with no option to open in Ibooks or other readers

I have a similar problem. I upgraded to IOS 6.0 then during the first sync my 500+ .pdf files were deleted from my device and will not sync back.
Stangely, I tried syncing the pdf files to my iPhone 4S to see if this was an IOS 6 issue, but that works fine - although with my non-retina eyes I can't read them :-S.
I've tried restoring the iPad (twice), unselecting books for sync, then reselcting and resyncing but no joy.
I have sent a couple of pdfs to my Kindle account and that works okay, but I don't want to have to send 500 pdfs to Kindle!
Anyone else having the same issue?

  • Opening email attachments with iOS 7

After the latest update, I cannot open PDF or word attachment on my corporate emails.... Help please?

This is a known issue, see this thread:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5992793?tstart=0
Try choosing "download full message" at the bottom of the email, if that option is there (it isn't always).  There is no other workaround yet.  Hopefully Apple is working on it.

  • Since last update for iOS can't open PDF file in iPhone 5

Since last update on PDF can't open PDF file on iOS.
MSG says that PDF file I'm trying to open is not a valid PDF file but I can open
It on iPad. Any explanations please ?

If you can share this PDF with us at [email protected], we can take a look, and see if there's a bug in Reader for iOS that is preventing us from opening it.

  • Open PDF file in Acrobat reader rather than SAP Document viewer...

    Hello everyone,
Whenever we attach a pdf file using Services for objects-->Store Business documents, an attachment list list is created and the file is archived in the repository.
If we double click on it, the pdf is opened in SAP Document viewer and not in Acrobat Reader unlike word document....
Can anyone tell me what configuration changes should be made and where so as to open pdf file in Acrobat?
Similarily what changes should be made so as to open Email files in Outlook?

Which version of the Acrobat Reader do you use?
According to my experience with our desktop this might be a feature of ACROBAD READER X.
    Kind regards

  • Can't open google docs since iOS 6

Since I upgraded to iOS 6 on my iPad and iPhone, I can no long open Google Docs on Google Drive. I have been using QuickOffice Pro HD for a couple years. When I went to open files that I had opened days earlier, I get an error message. I thought the problem was with QuickOffice, but I loaded Office2 HD and get the same message. I can still access Word Documents on Google Drive using QuickOffice. I can access the Google Docs using CloudOn, but that program saves the Google Doc as a Word Doc, so now I have two documents with the same name and I don't really want to go back through and convert everything. I'm guessing there's something about the upgrade that is causing this problem. Anybody else having this problem. The support forum for QuickOffice is enraged, but I'm not sure they're the culprit. Thx

  • After installing iOS 8 update on Iphone 5C, I can't open any files in my emails. Why?

After installing iOS 8 update on Iphone 5C, I can't open any files in my emails. Why?

    Hello Rach Ryan
First I would try closing the app from multitasking and then launching it again. To do that, double tap the Home button and then swipe up on the app to close it completely. If that does not work, then I would restart your iPhone.
iOS: Force an app to close

Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset

Thanks for all (Ocean20 & Courcoul) who replied.
Reset the device did not help me but it does triggers me to attempt to resend the PDF file attachment on email--and it works the 2nd time.  My problem is now solved.
The Adobe Reader is very helpful--it allows me to scroll through the document easily, unlike iBooks, where I cannot scroll straight up or down.

  • I can't open .vcs files that I get from email on iphone 5

When my husband sends me a calendar invite from his samsung galaxy 3 it comes in a .vcs file and when I click on it in the email I cannot open the file.  Everything I have read states that the iphone should support this file type now.  Any advice on fixing this problem?
