Opening existing photobooks with Iphoto 9.6

Good day,
I just updated the iOS of my McBook Pro, installing Yosemite.
I had to update iPhoto to manage my photographs so I have installed iPhoto 9.6.
I found it a bit tricky to run, misc. trouble occuring, but iPhoto managed to start and now lists events just as it was before the update.
It sadly lacks the Books I spent nights and week-ends to build. About a dozen. Plus the one I was about to complete.
I am pretty sure the data to build the books are still there, scattered all over the Pictures folder.
Probably, the metafile Album2.xml is the backbone for all of them. I've no clue about others pieces of the puzzle.
Anyway, no book is present in the left Pane and I am sure it is doable to open them with application.
Does any one has a spell or a terrific freeware which would make it?

Thanks for your help. Actually, the list was open but empty.
To spot the books, I created a new one, which is visible and enlisted in the Album2.xml metafile... with the old ones!
As the book 'Cap Vert 14', see below.

Opening RAW files with iPhoto 06- Nikon D200

Is there any way to open RAW files with iPhoto 06 ? I have a Nikon D200.

I'm puzzled - I cannot even open them in preview - it flashes and then says its unsupported. DOes it matterwhat type of RAW you choose?
I open them fine in Photoshop Elements, would rather load them up in iPhoto for storage though.

How can I buy a photobook with iPhoto 5?

I created a new photobook with iPhoto 5.
When I wanted to buy the book, I get the message that this is not possible with the old version of iPhoto.
But I cannot update on iLife'11 because I use an old mac mini with OS X Tiger.

If your Mac Mini has 1 GB or more RAM then you can update it to Mac OS X 10.5.8 which should run the newer version of iPhoto so that you can buy the book.

Can't open existing library with new photos app on iMac 10.10.3

I have upgraded my iMac to yosemite 10.10.3, with the new Photos app. I have been using iPhoto Library Manager to create and manage my libraries, which I store on an external hard drive.
Now, with the upgrade and new Photos app, some libraries open and I can access my photos without a problem, but other libraries don't seem to open. Instead, I get the new Photos windows with the demo slideshow, etc. I'm worried that the photos within the libraries I'm unable to open are now gone.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice?

How is the EHD formatted?
If the external hard drive is not formatted OS X Extended (journaled) Photos will not be able to open them. Actually iPhoto requires the volume to be formatted that way also but doesn't check the format before opening. Many users have been able to operated on EHDs that were not formatted properly for a while but eventually ended up with a damage/corrupted library.

Can't purchase photobook with iPhoto 7

I spent hours creating a photobook but when I went to buy it it says sorry for the inconvenience, but you can't do this with iPhoto 7 - you need to upgrade to iPhoto 9. But when I try to update iPhoto it says sorry, you need I OS 10.9 or higher. I currently have OS X 10.8.5, but can't see 10.9 in the App store. I really want to purchase my photobook!

Then you need to either
1. Upgrade to OS 10.9 - which is free and thereafter purchase iPhoot 11 on the App Store
or
2. Purchase an iLife 11 install disk on Ebay or Amazon.

How can I order a Photobook that I made with iPhoto ´08? I have a MacBook 2007 so I can´t upgrade to a newer Mac OS X Version than 10.6.8 to get a newer iPhoto version. Is there any other solution?

With MacOS X 10.6.8 you can run iPhoto 9.2.3 (iPhoto 9.2 .3). You cannot download it from the AppStore, but you could try to buy a boxed iLife '11 installation CD that is compatible with 10.6.8. and then update it using Software Update to 9.2.3.
This support articles lists iPhoto 08 as able to order books from the Apple Print Store (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3412), but the iPhoto '08 books have been discontinued. All you could do, would be to print your book to pfd and to have another printstore print the pdf file, then find a book binder service to have the book bound.

Unable to upload photobook with Iphoto

I am trying to order a photo book with Iphoto 9.6. Everytime I try I get the error "error occured uploading order". It was no problem to generate the pdf version via http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040. Also tried to shut down computer and restart with Safe Boot. Nothing worked.

I had the same problem. I noticed that when I uploaded my phonebook, the system would assembly the book just fine -- however during the upload phase, it would start to upload, create a small ball on the horizontal thermometer, and than hang. It appeared like the process started OK, but than got hung.
I envisioned some gatekeeper letting me in, but than later slamming the gate shut. The only gate keeper I could think of the process was my credit card. I checked out the details on my CC data on file with iPhoto, only to find my actual my credit card had been updated with a new expiration date, but the iPhoto data had not.
I brought the iPhone CC data up to date and my phonebook went right through!
What made the problem difficult to find is that the system never issued any error message. It just hung. But I am OK now. Thanks for all the posts.

Opening existing project with PRE 9

I have Premier Elements 9.0. When I start PRE and try to open a saved project, all I get is an empty window. The only way I can open an existing project is to first start a new one, then open the existing one from the File menu.
I don't know if it's connected, but I am also having a problem with installing an update that appears in Adobe Update manager. It downloads and then reports that it failed.

Great job of resolving your Premiere Elements 9 project opening issue.
McAfee can be particularly problematic for Premiere Elements, controlling both the antivirus and firewall(s).
As a just in case note, are you working from the 9.0.1 Update of version 9. If not, good idea to do so. But, if you do, please
use the online link from Adobe rather than the 9's opened project's Help Menu/Update.

Remember: we cannot see your machine. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Basic things like :
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For instance: 'iPhoto won't export' is best explained by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
- History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted?
- Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
- Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

I recently opened my photos with iphoto after uploading my old photos from my PC to finder. Now that I have my photos in iphoto, is it ok to delete the albums of photos I have in finder?

I had a problem importing my photos to iphoto when i first started using my mac, so instead I just saved all my pictures in finder. Now that I have all my photos in iphoto, I'm not sure if its ok to delete the photos i originally uploaded to finder.

Assuming that you have a default "managed" library (the iPhoto preference to "copy imported items to the iPhoto library is in its checked state) then yes - everything imported is in iPhoto and the source photo can be deleted

iPhoto is not a photo viewer - Preview is
iPhoto must import photos into its database before you can view them - if you really want to view photos then leave Preview at the default application
If you do want every photo your view imported into iPhoto then change iPhoto to the default

No, not yet.
Hopefully a feature Apple will add in the future, but for now you will have to use the full version of iPhotos on your Mac.

Cannot open iphoto library 5 with iphoto 8

My old mac (ibook G4) still has iphoto 5 and this new one has iphoto 8. I cannot open my old library with this new version, and I have most of my photos in the old library!
How do I open my copy of iphoto 5 with iphoto 8?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Remember, once you open the Library with iPhoto 08 you will no longer be able to open it with the earlier version.
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and point it at the v5 library. If iPhoto sees a valid library there it will open it.
