Opening .fla and or .swf files

I know the newer version of Quicktime stopped opening these files a while back. I download files from the www.animationfactory.com all the time. Some are .fla and .swf (flash) files.
Can anyone tell me what application I need to get/buy to open these videos and convert them to Quicktime?
I can't seem to find a clear response in the discussion groups.
Thank you,
Shelley

QuickTime 7.3.1, and higher, has stopped allowing Flash media playback for security reasons.
Older versions only supported .swf files that were "Published" (authored) as version 5 compatible and Adobe (previously Macromedia) is now up to version 10 so these files are hard to find.
This leaves QuickTime Pro out of any conversion process.
Easiest method to "capture" these files and store them in QuickTime formats would be screen capture software (I use Snapz Pro X).
http://perian.org has a plug-in that allows conversion of .flv (YouTube style) files via QuickTime Pro.

  • How to bundle a .FLA and multiple .SWF files in one .EXE?

    Hi,
I have a .FLA file which uses loadMovieNum() to load various
.SWF files when each one is called by the user clicking on a
button. Each .SWF file also uses loadMovieNum() to call a second
.SWF file. When I publish the .FLA file as a .SWF file it all works
    beautifully.
Now I need to package the entire project into a Windows
projector .EXE file for offline use on a computer without the Flash
Player. When I publish the main .FLA file as a .EXE file, the .SWF
files still load, although they blink before fully loading and
    displaying steadily.
What I would really like to do is to bundle all the .SWF
files into the .EXE file so when I send the finished project to the
end user, they only have to deal with one file, rather than a
folder with the .EXE file and multiple .SWF files.
Is there a way to do this?
I am using Flash 8 Professional.
    Thanks,
    Cam

Since this isn't going to be web-based, why not include all
the external swf files into the same Flash file and then use
    attachMovie?
This will allow you to create one .exe file that would
contain EVERYTHING. Since you aren't worried about loading speeds,
you don't have to load the movie clips, but can simply create one
    large Flash file.

  • So I've got an FLV and an SWF file.... now what?

Hello. I started with a video (.mov format) and used Sorenson
Squeeze to compress/convert ... leaving me with an FLV file and an
    SWF file.
Could someone please walk me through how to upload this to
the web so that I can send a client a hyperlink to watch it?

BTW, I have my own website and an FTP program ... so
hopefully, I'm not totally lost, here.
(Note: I usually do this with WMV files, but want the file to
load faster, etc., hence wanting to use Flash)
    Thanks again!

  • Opening and Editing SWF files

Does anyone know if there is a way to open and edit a SWF file.

No, you have to have the fla file to edit.  You can purchase/use a decompiler to convert the swf into an fla file, but I have no experience or recommendations to offer regarding that... only hear-say--towards the negative side

  • Can't open Adobe Flash for SWF file...keeps opening Install Manager instead.

Hi, I need to open a SWF file made from InDesign (interactive PDF). And when I click on it, Adobe Flash Install Manager keeps popping up with an uninstall manager. I've re-downloaded it three times, re-installed it 3 times. It's just not working. Any suggestions?
I'm on a Macbook Pro if it matters.

To view a local SWF you will need the standalone player (Projector) from http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html

  • Export a fla as single swf files

    Hi,
is there a hint or workaround how to export (save) all frames
    of a FLA file
    as single swf files (like
you can export a FLA in single JPG files)?
Would much appreciate if someone has a hint for me.
    Thank you in advanve
    Peter

    Hi,
that hint does'nt help. The problem is that I want to have
    all frames out of
one FLA file stored as SINGLE swf file.
Example: Source: test.fla with 5 frames exported to:
    test_001.swf,
    test_002.swf, test_003.swf ...
    Any idea how to do?
    Kind regards

  • Open, Write and Close the file using Powershell

    Hi All,
I need to create/open a file and write some data into it and close that file.
Could anyone please help me with this.
    Thanks.

You don't need to explicitly create, open, or close a file in Powershell.  Here are some ways to write to a file, in addition to New-Item:
    $text = 'Hello World'
    # Create file:
    $text | Set-Content 'file.txt'
    #or
    $text | Out-File 'file.txt'
    #or
    $text > 'file.txt'
    # Append to file:
    $text | Add-Content 'file.txt'
    #or
    $text | Out-File 'file.txt' -Append
    #or
    $text >> 'file.txt'
    Grant Ward, a.k.a. Bigteddy
The problem with Out-File is that it works like the console. When text is output, it will be truncated if it is wider than the default. So if you are looking for something where you need to store lots of long strings, then you may want to choose a different
route, or ensure than you specify a width for your output.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee176924.aspx
For example to get 200 characters of width:
    $text | Out-File
    'myfile.txt' -width 200
I do not know for certain if there is a limit to how wide it can be. I also assume the default is the standard console width (80 characters I believe.)

  • Lightroom photo galleries and their swf files

I have a question about using the photo galleries that lightroom exports in flash catalyst.  what I'm trying to do is use multiple photo galleries for different states in my flash application (www.negativeselfimage.com is the site).  flash catalyst allows you to import as many swfs as you want, but the problem is the gallerydata.xml files, and the images folders, which are different for every gallery I export.  I mucked my way around in flash builder to point to custom folders I built, so each swf file is in its own folder with its own materials.  however, the swf file seems to be looking for gallerydata.xml in an absolute directory.
my basic question is, how can I get that swf file to either point to a relative path place (it should still be relatively the same) or allow me to change to where it points to?
either that, or -- if this seems like the wrong path -- how can I use multiple lightroom swf galleries in one flash catalyst or flash builder application?
    thanks,  aemilia

I've the same question... FC is quite nice, but they have to develop more, I think

  • Captivate 1 and publishing SWF files

I have (registered) captivate 1.01 (build 1418 full
version). I have install it on several (3-4) laptops (replacements,
upgrades) and ... now have a client that requires this older
version for development. I can record the move, create exe files. I
can't just publish a swf file. Did I screw up my license somehow?
Do I have a virus? I need to create swf files to import into their
    development tool (EEDO). HELP!!!!
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Storybell
If you double-click the icon, does Windows prompt you for
what it should do with the file? If so, try choosing Internet
Explorer and see if it plays.

  • Hyperlinks and External SWF Files

I am building a site for the company I work for and within
the main flash CS3 document for the site I have a portfolio gallery
with 8 sections. I created a flash file for each category and made
a swf file where I loaded them in my main flash document. They each
have their own layer and on their layer I placed a loader component
for each movie so the gallery will show up when I click on that
    specific button.
My problem is that in some of the galleries I want to direct
my viewers to another place within another swf file.
Example: If I have a picture displaying a piece of artwork
and I have another piece of artwork that relates to it and I want
    to see that also.
How do I create that link to go to another place in another
movie (swf file). Is this even possible? Help me please.
I am using actionscript 2.0 I have attached a temporary site
address for a better idea of what I need help with. Go to the
    portfolio section.

  • Flv and external swf files

    Hi,
Does somebody knows what is happening?
I'm using the mcLoader class to load all my external swf
files, everything worket perfectly until I decided to use
flvPlayBack on one of those external files. If the player is on my
main stage it works great and if I run directly the loaded swf it
also works, but now when i run the external swf through the
    mcLoader the player doesn't appears.
    my mcLoader code:
    var mcLoader01:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader();
    mcLoader01.loadClip("clientes/targetTrade.swf",mcConatiner);
The flvPlayer should be on the second frame of this
targetTrade.swf ("click to watch the video")
    thanks,
    Peter

    Hi,
You said swfs are Flash 8. Did you also set them to
    Actionscript 2? If it's
Actionscript 3, that may be the problem. You may be

  • How to Open or load the swf file only in Java application

    Hai.,
How I Secure my Flash SWF files(AS2 and AS3).?
The SWF files are only work through java application. When the java call the swf file that time only it will work otherwise it won't work including browsers also..

I attached the file to this post. It would be great if you could send me the pdf version of the block diagram. It's not totally finished, but that doesn't matter, I can complete it in school.
    Thank you, really, thank you.
I know that this is not the purpose of this forum, but it was the easiest solution for my problem.

  • Location to upload and share .SWF files?

is there a location to upload .SWF files to share similar to what youtube does for videos?
    Thanks.

Ah, that probably wont work out too well then, considering the community
there has both high standards and a love of inside jokes.  If you have some
kind of ftp site you can have them upload the files into that, and then go
to the urls of the respective projects (for example"
    http://www.exampleftp.net/studentname/project1.html")
That would probably be the best way to do it that way it keeps the students
work in a closed network, getting feedback mainly from their peers, as well
as filters out any kind of spam/offensive/generic "this sucks" type comments
community based sites tend to run into a lot.  Also, the work they upload to
the ftp site can be viewed from any computer.  Your best bet is probably to
use Dreamweaver to set up the server and uploading their files.  That's how
I did it when I took a class in Flash web design last semester.  Hope this
helps, and I'm sure someone on the Adobe boards can help with setting up the
FTP site, since it's still something I have all that much experience with.
That or a tutorial could work too.

  • How to create a par file that includes an image and a .swf file

    Hi everyone,
I have a requirement to create a <b>.par file which will contain a .swf file and a .gif file</b>.
Can anyone please tell me the steps to do so.
    Thanks in advance

Thanks Ranjeet for the quick reply.
I have created a portal project and placed the .swf file and the .gif file in the images folder and deployed it to the server. I downloaded the .par file and chked that it contained the .swf and .gif files. But when i run the application it <b>does not show me the .swf file</b> . An icon with a cross mark appears instead. I have flash player installed on my PC .The .gif file when run works fine but not the .swf file.
Can anyone tell me a workaround for this ?
