Opening FLA file in CS5.5 compared to CS6 - possible glitches in CS6?

I've tried opening one of my FLA files from a client with CS6 and the components on the scene are mis-aligned,invisible and unselectable whereas if I open it in CS5.5, then it opens fine and everything is displays perfectly.
Why would this be?

i've seen it before and could not explain it.

I am trying to open CR2 files from a Cannon EOS 1DX camera in Photoshop CS6 and I have already updated the Camera Raw Plug in but Photoshop is still giving me the cannot open files dialog box? Help?

Canon 1DX support was added to ACR in version 6.7, 7.1.  An updated CS6 should be at level ACR 8.6.  If your ACR is not at level 8.6 try using CS6 menu Help>Updates.  If that does not install ACR 8.6 try downloading the ACR and DNG 8.6 converter and see if ACR 8.6 will install into your CS6.

  • Having trouble opening .fla files in Flash MX

    Hi,
    Can anyone help me?
I'm using Flash MX, and when I get sent .fla files to edit I
get a "Unexpected file format" error or a "An unknow error has
occured while accessing ..<location of file.fla>"
Is this because I'm trying to edit/open .fla files that
aren't compatible with Flash MX?? Why is this the case?
If someone could shed some light on this that would be great
as all .fla's recently have been causging me problems.
    Cheers.

sound like you try to opne flashMX2004 or flash8 foles in MX.
that wount work. An upgrade would help, or asking your source for
those flas to save then in MX format - which is not possible in
    Flash 8 though.

  • CS5 unable to open fla files in AS2

Help! I was working on some as2 projects using CS5 and suddenly Flash Pro cs5 hanged. i restarted my comp and now it doesn't open my previous fla files. I tried it on another computer and it works perfectly so the fla is not corrupted.
I uninstalled and reinstalled my entire CS5 master collection but the same problem is still there.
Something must have corrupted my Flash cs5 and that it only runs and compiles AS3 fla and not as2 fla projects.
    Please help!!! Thanks

A D600 requires ACR 7.3.  So that means an upgrade or subscription to CC unless you want a DNG.
As I understand it if you upgrade to the CS6 licence all future ACR versions will be read (currently 8.2)  BUT this will be ACR lite as it will not include enhancements.

  • Flash CS5 crashing when opening fla file

Flash is immediately crashing when I try to open an fla file created by a student. She has two copies of the file; neither will open. I'm hoping she hasn't lost all her work. The crash is happening on more than one machine. Does anyone know of any way to get the file opened?
    Tery

If it's a Flash CS5 or CS5.5 file, you can try to rename the file's extension to .zip, and investigate the XML files inside.
If you're sure it's in CS5+ format but it can't open as a ZIP file, try repairing it with recovery tools for ZIP files.
It'll need quite a lot of detective work, but the file being saved as zipped XML means it's possible to recover faulty files. This trick works for any format that's XML-based - recent versions of Office files, Audition CS5.5 SESX, etc.

  • Blank page when opening .fla file in Adobe Flash CS6

I have converted the document from .swf to .fla, and wanna open it in Adobe Flash. I used CS6 after CC. I opened the .fla file, but it shows a blank page instead (see the link below). I don't know why does it happen. I noticed that in the Library tab in the right, the resources (images) still exist. Any hints that I could open and edit the file?

  • Cannot open indd file in CS5.5? "Please upgrade your plugins to the latest version or upgrade..."

I refer to a similar forum post here - http://forums.adobe.com/message/4081971 - which outlines a similar problem with opening a file.
The difference is the file I can no longer open was created using Adobe indd CS5.5 and I am opening it with Adobe indd CS5.5. I have never had this issue previously. The only change is to a new OS on Mac - Version 10.8.2. Error message says "Cannot open "File name" please upgrade your plugins to the latest version or update to the latest version of Adobe" - I know there is CS6 but why should I now need to upgrade suddenly?
Can anyone help here? I can forward a link to the file in question if needs be.
    Cheers,

@Catie – did you verify, if your InDesign file is saved in version CS5.5?
You could do so by using a ExtendScript (Adobe's version of JavaScript) written by Jongware.

If the problem is due to a corruption of plug-in version information, I fear you have no chance other than:
    1. Update CS5.5 to the latest bug-fix version => 7.5.3
    2. Download a trial version of InDesign CS6, open and export the file to IDML and re-open it in InDesign CS5.5 (though this might not work for a corrupted file)
    3. Try to open the file on a different machine
Are there 3rd party plug-ins involved? If so contact their makers…

  • Error opening fla file.

    Hi,
I am a relative newcomer to the world of Flash, so I apologize if this issue is a bit mindless for the veterans.
I am working with Flash CS6 on a Macbook Pro and recently encountered a problem when trying to open a file. An error message pops up, saying 'there was an error opening the file...'. No further details are available.
Looking at the file information, there is still data there, as the size is about 300MB.
I've tried some amateur sleuthing online for a solution, mostly involving changing the .fla extentsion to .rar and repairing the file that way, but nothing I have tried has resolved the issue.
Am I essentially out of luck, or is there a reliable solution for this kind of problem?
    Thanks for any help!
    Boots

Wow, thanks for such a quick reply, kglad.
I had actually previously zipped and unzipped the file and ended up with a folder full of stuff that I didn't know what to do with. Again, this is where my amateur understanding comes into play.
In the unzipped folder, there are 'bin', 'library' and 'meta-inf' folders, as well as a 'DOMDocument.xml' file, a 'MobileSettings.xml' file, a 'PublishSettings.xml' file and finally a file called 'mimetype'.
Should I be encouraged by this?
I'm pretty clueless at this point about how I might proceed from here. I see that the 'library' folder contains all the sound files for the project (it's a soundboard), but is there a way to go from this point to recovering the project as it was before this issue came up? Or am I stuck with starting the project all over gain?
    Thanks again for the help!

  • Bizarre error when trying to open .fla files in Windows Explorer

"Windows cannot find '(path of the .fla file INCLUDING the filename)'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search." error message given when I click on any .fla file in Windows Explorer to open it in Flash 8 Pro (as I've ALWAYS done before). Flash opens but no file is opened in it. If I click the fla file a second time THEN it opens in Flash (which is already opened from the first attempt.). This never happened before. I have 2 more laptops that work fine (as did THIS Win XP-SP3 pc until about a week ago), ALL with Flash 8 Pro (1 laptop w/XP-SP3 - just like the main PC with the new 'problem'), 1 laptop w/Vista Ultimate SP2. Even compared registry entries from XP laptop side-by-side - no differences at all. Everything is literally 'word-for-word'. Also compared FileMap.xml - no differences. Reinstalled Flash (no success) then out of frustration reinstalled XP with full disk format (and then everything else all over again - took 3 days) - still no success. Files open from the Flash 'File\Open' menu no problem - just not from Windows Explorer anymore. Nothing is different than before (when everything was ok - same installed programs, apps, updates, exact same 'set-up' as far as Windows drivers, system settings, prefs etc goes. VERY bizarre!

As you know Flash 8 was a Macromedia product. They don't exist anymore - being absorbed by the all powerful, all seeing, all knowing Adobe Systems (sort of reminds me of the BORG on Star Trek - you know 'Resistance is futile').
I tried literally everything - to no avail. Since I did try everything - up to and including a complete HDD full format and OS reinstall (which only accomplished deleting several days of my life that I'll never get back) I have come to the conclusion that it must be something inherent in the program that only affects installations performed after 12/31/12.
My 2 laptops have no issues because the program has been on them for years and has never been reinstalled, but I would be willing to bet if I had to reinstall it on them I would start getting the same problem (since it's now past 12/31/12).
On 12/31/12 Adobe did something in a way 'similar' to CS2 owners by rendering the activation of CS2 products inoperative. I found this out the hard way after I had just reinstalled everything while trying to deal with this issue. I had to spend hours on the phone to finally get the news from 'Dave' in Indonesia that Adobe decided to just arbitrarily render their CS2 customers paid-for software obsolete and inoperative! (Out of fairness they DID provide 'replacement' apps that don't require activation - thus avoiding MEGA lawsuits).
Anyway - I'm just saying that software makers can build anything into their product, including date specific limitations without the consumer ever being aware of it.
With the exception of this issue it otherwise works fine, and I guess I'll just have to deal with it from now on by dbl-clicking on Fla files TWICE instead of once - otherwise affectionately known as 'quadruple-clicking', (but if you count closing the error window then it's 'quintuple-clicking').
I don't mind being proven wrong - so if somebody out there knows what is going on here (besides my theory of software developers time limitations resulting in complete world domination) feel free to reply. I'll get an email telling me someone replied and I'll come to this post and have a look.
(suggestions to reinstall will be ignored - been there, done that)

  • Opening .indd files in CS5 that were created in a newer version

I need to open .indd files in InDesign CS5.  Apparently those files were created in a newer version of InDesign, to which I do NOT have access in order to create legacy (IDML) versions of those files.  What is the "fix" for this issue?

I'm trying to create my organization's newsletter from .indd files that the previous editor created in a "free trial version" without also saving them as .idml files.  Now that version is expired and I'm not even sure what version it was, though I suspect it may have been CS6.  I was able to open an .idml file from another author that had been created in CS5.5 as I had access to all the links and fonts in the zipped folder.
So what you are telling me is that these files are useless to me unless I upgrade my InDesign version?  I don't have that kind of a "budget".

  • Flash crashes when opening fla file

I've worked for quite some time on this file, and I will be quite heartbroken if I must do it again. :-(
    OS: Windows 7 x64
Description: Flash "Adobe Flash CS5 has stopped working, Windows is checking for a solution to the problem..."
Files that Windows decided were important:
      C:\Users\Joseph\AppData\Local\Temp\WER4C33.tmp.WERInternalMetadata.xml
      C:\Users\Joseph\AppData\Local\Temp\WER9101.tmp.appcompat.txt
      C:\Users\Joseph\AppData\Local\Temp\WERB286.tmp.mdmp
"Adobe Flash CS5 has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
This only happens when I open this specific fla file. I've attached it to this message, (download it here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1920393/map.zip (I didn't know which file to send so I sent all three that seemed to be related)) Really hoping someone can figure out how to save it! Bonus points if you tell me how this happened and how to avoid it in the future!
    Thanks so much!

    Hi Joseph,
I've looked into your file and it looks like what ever you have on Layer 7 causes Flash to crash. Once I remove that layer then the file open without issue. If you want a copy of the restored file, please send me an email at [email protected] Make sure to include a link to this thread in your email so I can relate back to this message.

  • Opening .fla files

Hi.  I have what appears to be a common problem.  I downloaded the trial version of CS5 but it won't open my .fla file.  Is there something basic I'm doing wrong?
On my website, I have an animation that says "Online ordering coming soon."  Well it's almost here and I need to remove that part about coming soon.  I couldn't seem to upload the .fla file here, but it is located at www.gotocuttingboard.com if it matters.
Can someone point me in the right direction?
    Thanks,

    1. always create a backup of files before editing them if you're concerned about screwing things up (and it's prudent to always be concerned about screwing things up).
    2. use:

  • Can't open CR2 files in CS5, updates fail

I have some CR2 files I need to edit.  I have CS5.  When I try opening the files I get the following message "Could not complete your request because the file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by the installed version of Camera Raw.  Please visit the Camera Raw help documentation for additional information."
After looking online for some time, I read that updating my adobe applications should allow me to open these CR2 files.
I go to the adobe application manager and it lists I need updates for bridge cs5, photoshop cs5, and photoshop camera raw.  I click the update button, watch the progress bar go from 0-100% in about a minute as if everything is just peachy, and the this pops up-
"the following updates were unable to install.  If you wish to install these updates, please fix the problems below and retry:
Adobe bridge cs5 4.0.5 update, there was an error downloading this update.  Please quit and try again later.
    Photoshop Camera Raw 6.7 Update
There was an error downloading this update.  Please quit and try again later."
I've "tried again later" several times over the last month, and get the same thing each time.
When I click the "contact customer support" link it takes me to a page that says-
Error "This serial number is not for a qualifying product..." when installing an upgrade or upsell
All I want to do is edit these files.  I am happy with CS5, and not interested in paying a monthly fee to upgrade, just so I can open these files.  Help Please?!

I had this issue today trying to reinstall CS5 on a new laptop.   After many hours and trying to get chat support, i read a forum post that suggested installing each update manually from the adobe website.  I tried and it was successful for me........
    Product updates
    good luck!

I have camera raw 8.6 installed and am running photoshop cs 6.0.  All of a suddened photoshop will not open raw pictures that were shot on a CAnon 5D mark III.  Any ideas on what could be the problem.  The pictures do open in light room.
    Thanks

What exactly happens when you try to open raw files from Canon 5D Mark III in PS CS6. Do you get any error message? An error screenshot would help.
Make sure your PS CS6 is up-to-date from Help > Updates.
    Restart the machine and retry.

  • Can't open CR2 files in CS5

What do I need to download to pen Canon CR2 files in CS5?

without know what camera you're using, I would say that you need to download the Adobe DNG converter 8.8 is the current one. That will create dng files that can be opened in CS5.
