Opening hotmail

How come when I try to open hotmail from MSN messenger often times...but not everytime (90% of the time)...it won't open right to my email? It sends me to a page that asking me to sign up for windows live hotmail...then each time I have to click on a "get it" icon for it to go to my actual email. Sometimes it takes me two or three times to actually get into my hotmail as the page will just keep refreshing back to the sign up web page. This is hard to explain on here, but I hope someone understands what I'm saying. Is this a safari compatibility issue with window live email? I'd appreciate any help...thanks.

This link is to an article that seems to solve the problem (at least for me): http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/474297/hotmailand_safari_go_to_divorcecourt.html?page=2

  • Safari wont open hotmail or microsoft sites

Ive only got my internet working today. When i first connected i was able to go on hotmail and managed to download microsoft messenger. However it now wont let me go on, it seems, any microsoft site (still connects to msn messenger fine though). I really dont know why this has happened, the only changes that have been made since i first managed to get on and now are software updates - one may have been a safari update. If any anybody might think this is the problem, do they know how i can go back to the way it was before (the version that came with the ibook)? Ive tried empyting the cache and deleting cookies (although there were no msn one to delete) as suggested in other posts to get hotmail to work. Does anyone have any ideas? this is driving me crazy!! Please please help!

No, it wont open hotmail at all whether messenger is running or not. I actually just read on another website that it was a java update that caused the same problem for someone else. I remember a java update was on of the ones i installed so this could be the problem. The other guy said he fixed the problem by getting rid of the update - can this be done without resetting the entire computer to the way it came?

Have you updated to the latest version of Reader (11.2.3)? Have you read the Help file within Reader about how to open PDF files? You can open a PDF file in most emails using the methods described there. If you have further questions, please check back.

  • Safari 2.0 unable to open hotmail

Hi, everyone! I seem to be having problem opening Hotmail, and Msn completely. I have a Mac OS X (10.4), and the model is PowerMac6,3. I'm using Safari 2.0. When I try to open hotmail, all I get is a blank window. I called Mac, and they determined it was MSN's page and not the computer or network. I spoke with MSN, but they were unable to help and said maybe it's the computer. Can anyone help? I would be sooo grateful!
    Thanks so much!
    -Becky

Could that mean that Hotmail might have changed something that is incompatible with OS 10.6.4?
Very well could be. You can try Hotmail support.
Try logging into another user account on your Mac. Launch Safari and try Hotmail there. If it works ok there, then at least the issue is just within your user account.
We see more and more issues with Hotmail.
I did a search in the Safari forum for Hotmail. Results are for this year. http://discussions.apple.com/search.jspa?threadID=&q=hotmail&objID=f876&dateRang e=thisyear&userID=&numResults=15&rankBy=10001

  • Opening Hotmail in Firefox closes Firefox and opens IE

Today when I tried to open Hotmail from Firefox 12, Firefox closed and IE opened up. I've tried several times and the same thing happens. I noticed my homepage had changed to Ask.com as well - not sure if this is coincidence or related.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

  • Safari Crashes When Opening Hotmail

Hi everyone, I picked up an iPad today but whenever I open hotmail in Safari it crashes if I try to forward or reply to the email. The whole screen freezes. If I return back home and then back to Safari it is still frozen. I have done a search on the net but can't find anyone having similar problems. I guess I should just return it?
I have done 2 restores of orig settings btw.
    Cheers

you are not the only one to suffer this problem. Hotmail.com has been a thorn in my side for a long time. I use voiceover (screen reader for the blind) and every time, no matter if it be on my iPhone or mac desktop machine, Safari (and the development version WebKit) always crash upon trying to interact with any of the folders (inbox, junk, etc.). I cannot even get into the account settings page on that site without Safari either crashing out or simply freezing up. As far as I know, this is a problem with the microsoft specific code used in javascript on that site. unfortunately, some other sites also use some of this same code, and the results are similar.
Also, I do not have access to a windows machine, or I  would simply use NVDA with it and get around this problem and even firefox on VINUX has problems on there when I use ORCA (screen reader for Linux). so, from all that I can determine, it is Microsoft that has the problem. unfortunately, this makes life more than a little inconvenient for us blind users of mac machines and other Apple hardware/software.
unfortunately, firefox and google chrome aren't very accessible under OS X with voiceover. I have also tried to change the user-agent string in an attempt to fool hotmail, but without success. lastly, hotmail doesn't seem to have a mobile version of the website that will work for me either. In fact, there appears to be NO mobile version of their website. about the only thing I can do is save up a few hundred dollars and get a cheap netbook (that takes time, though, and I don't have a lot of that).
anyone else have any other suggestions on how to work around this?

  • IE won't open Hotmail site sporadically

I have a user at a client site running Windows 7 Pro who is having a problem in IE. About 1/3 of the time when she goes to the Hotmail website, IE 9 won't load the site but displays a blank window except for a message about not being able to load
    the page.
She says this happens every day, however it mostly does it after she has visited other websites first and then tries to open the Hotmail site. If she opens her browser and immediately goes to Hotmail, then it opens fine (or maybe rarely errors out, I don't
recall if she said that or not).
She has never had this happen with any other website and she can go to any other computer in her office and browse other sites and then go to Hotmail and it opens every time. So there is something on her computer that is doing this. I tried running ipconfig
/flushdns, emptying her browser cache, and setting IE to empty the cache when exiting. I checked her network settings and they're all good. I even checked her hosts file and there's nothing in it to cause this.
As I said, if she goes to Hotmail first when opening IE it always opens and more times than not she can visit other sites first and still open Hotmail. But at least 1/3 of the time Hotmail won't open if she visits other sites first.
Anyone have any ideas of what else to do? I don't see how any settings in IE could do this since surely a misconfiguration or a wrong security setting would cause Hotmail to not load -all- of the time, not just some times.

    Google.ca
Is that one predictable or frequent enough that it is annoying enough to try the tests that I mentioned?   Then FWIW I would start by seeing if the following procedure would change the frequency of the problem.   In a cmd window enter:
    ipconfig  /flushdns
    ping -n 1  -w 1  -4  google.ca
    ipconfig  /displaydns
E.g. the main idea is the ping -4  to see if avoiding IPv6  and caching an IPv4 lookup for IE to use changes your symptom.   FWIW in my case, according to the Time To Live value, I would have about 3 minutes to use that.
If that helped you could make it a cmd file.  ;  )
However, notice that there is an immediate redirect to
www.google.ca  where you would face potentially the same lookup issues, so you might want to just request that directly or change your ping procedure accordingly.
I put it down to being a glitch in the software that will be fixed at some point.
Don't hold your breath.   This symptom and its inadequate diagnostics have been present in IE for as long as I can remember (IE4 in NT4.)   Exacerbating it now is the proliferation of caching servers (for more aliases and more redirects)
    and now in W8 evidence of increasing attempts at using IPv6.  I don't even know if my router let alone my ISP supports IPv6.   ;  }

I connected to the user's PC just now and tried running the commands you specified. The only change I made was in the ping. I ran the ping agains 4 or 5 websites before running ipconfig /displaydns. Hotmail.com along with a couple of other sites I visited
did not reply to a ping. But in the /displaydns they did "answer". Google.com showed the shortest TTL. Hotmail.com was quite a bit longer but not the longest of the sites I tried.
The thing is, today I could not reproduce the problem. I tried visiting several websites and then going to hotmail.com and it opened right up. I ran the set twice and hotmail opened both times. This does jive with what the user has said that it doesn't happen
all the time. She said it happened 2 or 3 times to her this morning (I don't know why she doesn't connect leave hotmail open). So I'm going to try again tomorrow. I told her in the meantime if it happens, to leave all IE windows as they are and call me if
    she can.

It previously worked fine in earlier versions of firefox. There's a message at the bottom of the hotmail window. I reloaded both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions,

  • Firefox closes down completely ONLY when I open Hotmail on my Mac

For some reason whenever I open Hotmail and either click on a message, attempt to write a new message, or click on reply, the entire web window closes. I have tried to delete Silverlight AND all my Firefox stuff and upload it, but it still does it. I am now having to use Safari to access Hotmail account

I suggest you post on the Microsoft Mac forums since it's their software you're having issues with.
