Opening Images With Safari

When I open an image on the desktop, it opens with Preview as the default. How can I switch to opening images with Safari as the default?

Safari is quicker and saves me keystrokes if I want to see the actual size of the image, and then go back to the "viewing" size. With Safari, all you have to do is click on the image to pull up the actual size, then click on it again to go back. Not so with Preview.

You may be able to drag and drop the icons from one toolbar onto another, you can then hide the toolbar that you no longer need. For details on how to do that see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/How+to+customize+the+toolbar

I started to learn HTML, and I'm using text edit and everything is going fine, when I save the file with a .html extension and open it with safari I only view the code and not the webpage that was supposed to be created.

That is because you don't have a web server configured and running to serve the html page. In order to see the page in a browser you need to access it using a url similar to http://localhost/~yourUserName if you are serving the page from your user account.
Prior to Mountain Lion you could go into web sharing and turn on the web server. With Mountain Lion there is no option, other than using terminal, to turn on the web server. The web sharing menu item has been removed in Mountain Lion. Apache is still on your computer but it will take a little searching these forums or the Internet to find how to turn it on.
If you want a graphic user interface to turn on/off the Apache server you could download and install a server application like xampp, http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html. I use this and it works well.

  • Opening Images With Java

How do you open images with Java? It is a JPEG, and as most will figure out from this post, I'm new to this. :P thanks in advance for any effort...

Well... Can you possibly tell me what to put in (eg Source Packages) so yea... I'll look into the tutorial, but I also have another question. Would this work?
    Image img = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getImage(C://desktop/[gamefolder]/[hiddenimages]/[image]);
When [gamefolder] is the name of the folder, [hiddenimages] is the sub-folder with the images in it, and [image] is the image...

  • Is there a way to open image with another phogram outside photoshop?

    Hi
    i have cs6 and bridge cs6 ,windows 7 64bit
is there a way to open images with another program then photoshop?
for example a script or other ways?
i'm talking about jpg,raw files for example
for example i would like to send 4 photos to ptgui or other programs
    thanks

PTGui Pro should appear in your 'Open With' list bottom section, at least it shows on my system (Mac)
Be aware that PTGui can only handle jpeg, tiff and PNG and it only handles Raw files using the DCraw converter (Open source originally developed for Linux).
Only applications that support the particular file type you select appear in the Open With list.
And on a Mac I can drag and drop jpeg and tiff from Bridge to the project assistant.

  • Opening images in Safari

When I click on an image on a web page using Safari, instead of opening the image in a new window (as it did 2 weeks ago) the image is downloaded to the desktop.
If the image is a link to another web page it behaves correctly. It only happens if the link is to open the image in another window. Safari's preferences are set to download to the desktop but it's the automatic unwanted download I want to stop.
For example, if I click an image on a Wikipedia page it opens another window with a medium resolution version of the image. All OK so far. If I click the medium resolution image it used to open a window with a full resolution image but now downloads a full resolution image to the desktop. If I click the 'full resolution' link underneath the image it does the same thing. If I ctrl-click the image and select 'open image in a new window' it opens an empty Safari window and downloads a medium resolution copy to the desktop.
Anyone got any ideas? I've got a desktop full of picture of USS Iowa trying to work out what's happening.

I was only able to resolve this issue by an archive and reinstall of OS 10.4. It was one of a number of bugs that developed after replaceing the keyboard. My guess is that the old wireless keyboard was sending garbage to the computer some of which corrupted parts of the system software. Nothing short of a reinstall worked. I'm relieved to report that it now works fine.

  • Cannot open hotmail with safari

When I try to open outlook in safari only ablank page comes up.
I have no issues with Firefox or other browsers

From the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
If you wish, you may be able to salvage the errant extension by uninstalling and reinstalling it. Its settings will revert to their defaults. If the extension still causes a problem, remove it permanently or refer to its developer for support.

  • Photoshop CS6, Mac OS, switching through open images with OS command no more possible

Using Photoshop CS6 (13.0.1) on a Mac Pro OSX v 10.6.8 it is no more possible to switch through open image windows with the OS related key combo "command <".
There is also no Photoshop own configurable command available, that could solve this issue.
CS5 or versions below always allowed that, and I very much miss this practical and fast switching between images, much faster then having to maneuver down through the "windows" menue.
    Anybody knows a solution?

thanks conroy, Ctrl+Tab does the trick! - Gerhard

  • Opening Videos with safari?

    Hi all,
I am having trouble opening videos with the new safari public beta, safari always downloads the file i click on, whereas in explorer or mozilla it could open the videos through media player or an equivalent without download but using the temp folder, the videos would basically stream. How can i acheive this with this new browser. All help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I'm betting Safari 3 for Windows is taking a page from Safari 2 for Mac, in that it either opens video in the browser window (Quicktime movies, for example), or downloads the video to your Desktop. Unlike Firefox it's historically never had the option to just open something directly without electing a download. This presumably simplifies file management by eliminating the need for large temp files that can, if unchecked, become bloated with leftover downloads.
You can set Safari to open so-called 'safe' downloads automatically after download, producing the same effect as Firefox's "Open With" option. It should be on by default, but you can check it's status in a plist file (it should be someplace in Preferences, but I don't see it yet, perhaps not implimented, or perhaps I'm just blind) located at C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Apple Computer\Safari\Preferences.plist
Verify the following property is set to true:
    <key>AutoOpenSafeDownloads</key>
    <true/>

  • Cannot open images with cc2014...click on open with and cc2014 is not an option

Cannot open an image with cc2014 when right click on it in Windows 7....also cannot use photoshopCC as an external editor in ProShow producer

Surely the Adobe forums are the place for help with Adobe applications. The fact that the problem doesn't occur on your daughter's machine suggests that it's not an issue with Mavericks but a local problem on your own machine.

  • Cannot open gmail with safari

    Hi,
I am experiencing a problem with Safari, since it does not open my Gmail account. It does not work at all, I cannot open them....I read many comments and forums already, so I see it is any issue for many others.
I already reset Safari, Emptied cache, tried Gmail in html format but the problem still persists, no solutions were found yet.
I have May OSX 10.6.8, Intel Core 2 Duo (software updates do not work in my case since the memory is not big enough)
The current version of Safari on my mac: 5.1.10
Any idea how I could fix this issue?
    Thanks a lot.

If you are on Snow Leopard as your info implies - switch to another web browser -- I am using Opera, others are using Firefox.
Google no longer supports older browsers -- Apple no longer updates snow leopard.
Others option is to update apple os -- before doing so - check to see that your printers, etc are supported for that release -- reason I am still at Snow leopard - any later and its generic driver or no driver for printer and scanner --- the hidden cost of free.

  • Cannot open pdf with safari

I cannot open pdf with safari

Adobe Reader installed? If so, remove Reader.
    Macintosh HD > Library > Internet PLug-ins
    Look for these two files.
    AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin
    AdobePDFViewer.plugin
Right click those and select “Move To Trash’.
    Best.

Sorry,  I should have checked the basics.  The wifi setup did not put in correct dns servers.  I changed them and it works fine now.
