Opening in new tab from a pinned tab

I use a lot pinned tabs for gmail and facebook, but there is something that is frustrating me about opening new tabs from those pinned one.
Let's say that I have more that 50 tab, if I try to open a new tab from a pinned tab, the new tab will be created at the top of the list, just near the pinned one. This is really frustrating since I don't want to go back on the top of the tab list.
Is there a way to make firefox open the new tabs at the end of the tab list ?
Thank you.

you're very welcome :))

  • Hi all, when I open a New Tab pg all the images are blank - I've tried clicking on the blank images, & dragging a link from the Bookmarks, without success!

    I want to achieve at least one of two things: either set New Tabs to open with Google automatically; or at least, to have Google pinned to the New Tab page. (Google is my home page.) When a new page opens, all the images are blank. I've read through the Help pages & tried various things. I've tried dragging Google from the Bookmarks to the New Tab, but this only opens Google. I've tried clicking on the blank images, but nothing happens. I've toggled the blank images off for now, so at least I don't need to look at them. I am doing a university course online, so efficiency is really important to me! Those extra clicks really add up & distract!... Thanks in advance :)

    # In the [[Location bar autocomplete|Location bar]], type '''about:config''' and press '''Enter'''. The about:config "''This might void your warranty!''" warning page may appear.
    # Click '''I'll be careful, I promise!''', to continue to the about:config page.
    # Type '''browser.newtab.url''', in the bar on the top of the page.
    # Double click the first result, '''a new window should appear'''.
    # Type '''www.google.com''' in the window, click ok.
    # '''Open a new tab''', does it go to google?

  • On a Mac, how do I setup Firefox to use Command+Enter to open a new tab from the address bar? Safari and Chrome do this by default.

    I tried this extension (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/customizable-shortcuts/), but it doesn't appear to support editing the current "Alt+Enter" to change to "Meta+Enter" where Meta = Command on a Mac.
    I want to switch to Firefox, but this is the one and only thing preventing me from doing so! I have a decade plus of muscle memory using the key next to the space bar + enter to open a new tab. Please help!

    There is an older extension named keyconfig (last updated in 2011) which might be able to do it. I haven't used it for quite a while so I'm not sure how well it works any more.

  • When I open a new tab, my pins do not show up, and I cannot find the square with the 9 boxes to turn it on at the top, what do I do

    When I open a new tab, the page is blank, and I cannot view my pins. I tried searching for the box with the 9 squares in it at the top of the screen to turn it back on, but it does not show up. How do I get my pins back?

    Hello,
    First go to '''Tools''' >> '''Options''' >> '''Privacy''' >> '''Firefox will''' change to '''Remember history''', then go to '''about:config''' and search for '''browser.newtab.url''' change its value to '''about:newtab'''.

  • Problems opening a New Tab in Safari from Bookmark Bar Folder

    When I am in Safari and attempt to Open a link to a new tab from the Bookmark Bar that is part of a Folder on the Bookmark bar it does nothing.
    I can change the preferences to auto-click for the Bookmark Folders, but then every link loads when I try to access the folder from the Bookmark Bar. Very cool to see lots of pages loading at once, but not what I'm after. Doesn't seem to be a way to just load 1 link from the folder
    If its a single link on the Bookmark Bar that has not been organized into a Folder it does work.

    You know what? - my Safari works just the same way.... but I'd never noticed before.
    I've used apple-click to open single bookmarks from the bar, many times. But have always ( for no particular reason) opened a new tab first ( apple-T ) if I've been looking for bookmarks within a folder.

  • In Options -- General -- I want the option to "Show my windows and tabs from last time" AND "Show my homepage", but that choice isn't given. When I open a new tab, I'd like to see my iGoogle page, not a blank screen. Hope you can help. D

    You can middle-click or Ctrl left-click the Home button on the Navigation toolbar to open the Home page in a new tab.
    You can look at one of these extensions:
    * NewTabURL : https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/newtaburl/
    * New Tab Homepage : https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/new-tab-homepage/

    In the latest version of Firefox, I am not able to open a new tab neither by Ctrl+T nor from the File Tab nor by pressing the '+' sign next to the last tab. So the only solution is opening "New window" which is extremely messy. Kindly help me with this issue.

    hello, can you try to replicate this behaviour when you launch firefox in safe mode once? if not, maybe an addon is interfering here...

  • How can I open a new tab not right next to the one I open from but next to the last?

    Before I switched to the current version of Firefox, the new tab that I would open, was opening right after the last open tab previously opened.
    Now if I have 4 tabs open and I open a new tab from inside the first one, the new tab opens as number 2 tab.
    Is there an option that toggles the opening sequence ?

    A couple of methods, first use the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/61766/ New Tabs at the End] add-on. The second method involves changing a hidden preference.
    # Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
    # Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    # In the filter box type '''related'''
    # Double-click on the preference browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent to change its value to '''false'''

  • Open in new tab on right click fails to open in the current window when used in a dependent window called with window.open command from original window this worked fine until ver 4.0

    i have been using this page in all versions of firefox until ver 4.0 and it has worked fine
    https://npwas.com/dummy/charts/charts.html
    when this page is loaded enter a stock symbol in the text field "AAPL"
    then click one of the lower links --"Yahoo Headlines"-- and another window is opened with this code
    - function yahoolink(sqlstring, winnum) {
    - var myurl = "http://finance.yahoo.com/";
    - var mysymbol = document.SymbolForm.symbol.value;
    - var mysrc = myurl + sqlstring + mysymbol;
    - var mywindow = "mywindow" + winnum;
    - //alert("mywindow- " + mywindow);
    - if (sqlstring == "mb/")
    - mysrc = "http://messages.finance.yahoo.com/" + -sqlstring + mysymbol;
    window.open(mysrc,mywindow,'resizable=yes,titlebar1=1,toolbar=1,scrollbars=1');
    all this works but when i right click on a message or news item and select "OPEN IN NEW TAB" - it fails to open the tab in this current window it opens it in the parent window --
    the way i have always used this is to able to select news and right click all news items to read as new tabs and have all news items or messages to be grouped in the child window
    this is now broken or do i need to recode something??
    https:\\npwas.com come is my secure server and you may load the page and see the code
    so far i really love ver 4.0 especially the sppppppeeeeeeeeed!!!!
    keep up the great work
    thanx in advance

    the user cor-el has a method that does not require any add-ons. He States
    This code in userChrome.css will move "Open Link in New Window" to the top of the context menu.
    <pre>@namespace url("<a href="http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul">http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul</a>"); /* only needed once */
    #contentAreaContextMenu &gt; * { -moz-box-ordinal-group: 2; }
    #context-openlink { -moz-box-ordinal-group: 1 !important; }</pre>
    the user jay_ff shows how to do it using the Menu Editor Add-on
    1. Install the Menu Editor add-on from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/menu-editor/ .
    2. After the installation, go to Firefox> add-ons (or simply use Ctrl+Shift+A)
    3. Go to the Menu Editor "Options"
    4. In the "Main context menu," simply grab the "Open link in New Tab" and place it below the "Open Link in New Window"
    5. and Voila! You may also change other menu options if you want to!
    I tried jay_ff method first and found that indeed changing the Main Context Menu did cause the hotlink context menu to change as well.

  • When I choose to open a new tab from a website, such as facebook, it always opens it in a new window. How do I change this to just opening a new tab. I tried changing the tab settings but it did not work

    When I choose to open a new tab from a website, such as facebook, it always opens it in a new window. How do I change this to just opening a new tab. I tried changing the tab settings but it did not work. I did not have the problem until I started using firefox 4.

    It is probably a JavaScript link.
    You can probably force it where you want it with a keyboard shortcut
    either "Ctrl+click" or "Ctrl+Shift+click". see

  • I cannot open a new tab using the + or Ctrl T or from the file menu. The only way to open a new tab is to click a link. How do I fix this?

    The only way to open a new tab is to click a link like in an email, or right click to tell it to open a new tab. When I click the + or Ctrl T nothing happens.

    Uninstall the Ask toolbar and it should work again. There is a compatibility issue with the Ask toolbar and Firefox that prevents new tabs from being opened.
    There are a couple of places to check for the Ask toolbar:
    * Check the Windows Control panel for the Ask Toolbar - http://about.ask.com/apn/toolbar/docs/default/faq/en/ff/index.html#na4
    * Also check your list of extensions, you may be able to uninstall it from there - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Uninstalling+add-ons

  • Set Firefox to open a new tab without selecting it from the context menu by two-finger tapping in Lion

    In Snow Leopard, I had somehow set the two finger tap to open a new tab either from a link on a page or from my bookmarks bar, without having to select "Open a new tab" from the context menu. I recently upgraded to Lion and I can't remember how I set this feature-- or is it just not available anymore?

    There is a plugin for this and you can configure it as shown in the attached screen to open all links from the web page in a new tab by just clicking on it and not having to follow the native steps

    Do you have that problem when running in the Firefox SafeMode?<br/> ''A troubleshooting mode.''<br />
    1.You can open the Firefox 4.0 SafeMode by holidng the '''Shft''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut. <br />
    2. Or use the Help menu item, click on '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' while Firefox is running. <br />

  • How do I open a new tab from address line?

    How do I open a new tab from address line?

    You Will have to hold down the Alt key and press Enter to make the link open in a new tab without using an extension.
    By default links always open in the same tab.
    You can search the Add-ons website for an extension if you want to change this default behavior.
