Opening InCopy files in Layout Mode

How do you set up a default to open all InCopy files in Layout Mode? (CS5)

Without any document open, go into the Menu item "View" and select Layout Mode. From then on all files will open in that mode.

  • Opening a file with FILE_SHARE_DELETE mode (Only on Windows)

    Hi,
    We have an application that imports logs from several 3rd party vendor's applications. Basically what we do is import the logs in real time, i.e we do have a live FileInputstream connection to the log file. Now, when the 3rd party applications that rotate these logs (many of them do when they grow big or scheduled periodically), all unix flavors dont see to have any problem, while the windows does complain that the device or resource is busy and the original application is not allowed to rotate it. When i dug into the native code of windows jvm, i found that the file is not opened in the FILE_SHARE_DELETE mode and only with FILE_SHARE_READ and FILE_SHARE_WRITE modes. When we wrote a separate C++ application the opens a file with FILE_SHARE_DELETE mode, we found that the logs are rotatable.
    Now, how can we instruct the JVM to open a file with FILE_SHARE_DELETE mode? Is there any such implementation already or do i have to come up with another class extending the FileInputStream and use a totally different open method where the file is opened with this mode in the native code?
    Thanks

    Hello,
    I think you can write :
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec("start.exe " + MyFileDialog.getDirectory() + MyFileDialog.getFile());
    So, "start.exe" choose the application (not valid for NT machine), ".getDirectory()" return the PATH and ".getFile()" return the NAME.

  • Unable to open jsp file in Design mode

    Hi,
    I am unable to open jsp files in design mode, I am using eclipse Version: 3.6.1.
    Please help.
    Regards,
    Ale Hasan

    Hi Ale,
    Thank you for the additional information. Unfortunately, there does not seem to be anything unusual about your project based on your description. I'm surprised you don't see any processes listed in the process view while waiting for the page to open. I thought you might see something related to a queue manager job to "Manage Resource Event Jobs".
    Are there any messages in the error.log? You can open a view to the error log from the menu option, "Window -> Show View -> Error Log". I'm curious if there are any messages about a process timing out, unable to reset some object within a certain time, or any exceptions logged.
    If you change to another workspace with just a single JSF web project containing a smaller number of JSP, do you experience the same behavior?
    Can you also try using a more recent release of OEPE to see if that helps? The 11.1.1.6.1 release is about a year old.

    No, you are doing exactly the right thing.  Open the inca file in the InCopy Assignments > Assignment Name folder. You may even want to delete the original package (or at least archive it) right after you open it to prevent opening it accidentally.
    Like Bob said, sounds like some sort of internal Windows issue. Try reassociating the extensions with the program.
    Or can you right-click and choose Open With?

  • SharePoint 2010 and PowerPoint 2010: Open PPTX File in Edit Mode and Open PPSX in in Slide Show Mode

    I have the following issue while opening PowerPoint PPTX file and PPSX from the Document ID link provided by SharePoint 2010.
    Issue
    Initially when I opened PPTX file from the DOC ID link from SharePoint 2010, it is opening up in Slide Show mode which is not how we want it to be.
    For PPSX, it is opening in Slide Show mode which is what we wanted.
    Thus, I did some research online and found this article at support.microsoft.com/kb/q299824  which requires some modification to the Registry of the client machine.
    I did the change as follows
    Open Registry
    Look for “Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PowerPoint.Show.12”
    Set BrowserFlags value to a
    After the change, PPTX is opening in Edit Mode in PowerPoint which is correct but PPSX is also opening in Edit Mode in PowerPoint which is not correct
    This issue only occurs if I open the document from the Doc ID link in SharePoint. If the documents are downloaded, it will not have this issue.
    Questions
    Can I set PPTX to open in Edit Mode and PPSX to open in Browser Mode?
    Is this fixed as in if I change the registry setting it will affect both file types?
    Is there other ways I can achieve opening PPTX in Edit and PPSX in Browser Mode?
    [Environment]
    My Client machine is running on I.E 9 and Office 2010.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
    To make the PPTX file open in Edit mode and PPSX file open in Slide Show mode, I recommend to edit the registry key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PowerPoint.Show.12 to 8.
    I tested the scenario in my environment with changing the key value to 8, after that PPTX file opened in Edit mode and PPSX file opened in Slide Show mode.
    Best regards.

  • Cannot open VI file in edit mode.

    I cannot open a VI project that I was working on. Every time I try to open the file it gives me a message that "not enough memory to complete this operation".
    This is a large project and I need to be able to access the block diagram.
    This happens when I try to open it in edit mode.
    Thanks.

    Minguccio,
    I've done some poking around and may have found some useful information. This error will ocurr if you have too many (and I mean a ton) of controls on the front panel. I haven't heard of this error since LabVIEW 5.1 though and we've upgraded the number of controls you can have on your front panel since then. However, try deleting some controls from your front panel to see if this helps out.
    My investigation also lead me to tcp errors. Are you using tcp\ip anywhere in your programming? I found this discussion that may help out if that's the case.
    Let us know what you find.

  • Help please. Opening InCopy files in InCopy crashes InCopy

    I'm about to go completely insane, so hopefully someone will have an idea of what might be going on here…
    I have an InDesign CS5 file that I've created an InCopy assignment containing one InCopy content file. I can check out the content file in InDesign and check it back in. When I try to open either the content or the assignment file, or even the InDesign file, in InCopy CS5, the program crashes. Here's the beginning of the report that is generated:

    What the heck is this AdobeCoolType thing and how do I fix it? There are all of two fonts in the document and I've removed and reinstalled both. I've round-tripped the InDesign file to IDML and back. I've created new ICMA and ICML files in different locations. I've reinstalled both InDesign and InCopy after trashing preferences. I downgraded to Mac OS X 10.6.6 from 10.6.7.
    One more thing: when I return to InDesign to unlink content and create new ICML files, if I give the ICML file the same name as the old, InDesign things it's checked out by InCopy even though I've deleted the old ICML file.
    I'm at a loss on what else to do. Can anybody please help before I lose it completely?
    Thanks!
    Andrea

    No. Just using FontBook to manage fonts. I tried some of the things listed in <http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/327/327791.html> (e.g., clearing font caches, removing font files, etc.) but everything kept crashing.
    I keep having these issues where a file works one day, then not the next. Another file is crashing when trying to open InCopy, but this one says the error is related to indexing. These are all part of a book, so maybe I need to get rid of EVERY index marker or something.
    I just don't get it. Thanks for trying to help, Bob.
    Cheers,
    Andrea

  • How to open sharepoint files in edit mode using associated link?

    Hi All,
    We are trying to use the URL links available through SSM to open documents we hold on SharePoint. These will be the action plans for the risks we are entering as KPIs. The aim is to established a one-to-one link between the risk KPI and the risk action plan as this is a fundamental reason behind using SSM for Risk.
    However, when we enter the SharePoint URL into the SSM admin screen, clicking the link from SSM UI opens up the file as an internet explorer page which can not be edited and saved back to SharePoint. We did find a way to get through My Network Places to over write the file, but this only works if you have previously opened and edited and saved the file from SharePoint and requires lots of navigation by the user and is therefore not an appropriate solution.
    Is there any way we this can be achieve? Appreciate your replies. Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    David

    Hi Bob,
    Thanks for your reply. What I meant was when we put the UNC into SSM as a link in the URL box, SSM does not use the address it is given, instead it adds a http:// back in front and once again fails when opening the file in sharepoint.
    For example:
    SharePoint folder view used in test:
    http://wccportal/resources/performance/risk/Risk%20Action%20Plans/Forms/AllItems.aspx?RootFolder=%2fresources%2fperformance%2frisk%2fRisk%20Action%20Plans%2fDOR&FolderCTID=&View=%7b84123F22%2d74F2%2d41B9%2d918C%2dFF23DAE35EB3%7d
    Excel UNC link to folder
    wccportal\resources\performance\risk\riskactionplans\DOR
    SSM UNC Link - SSM changes the address to include http:// and also removes other \ breaks and adds in numbers and symbols.
    Is there a way to stop SSM converting the local address back into a web address?
    Thanks,
    David

  • Open photoshop file in "silent mode"

    Is there a way to open a photoshop document in some sort of "silent" mode, where the GUI doesn't actually launch?  I am looking to open/edit/save changes to a .psd without the UI ever being launched.  Using the adobe API & scripting I am able to accomlish all of the files changes I want, I would just prefer if all the work is done behind the scenes without the GUI ben launched.  Any assitance would be appreciated!

    Aktually I do not now any documentation of Photoshops COM Interface. Years ago, I needed to communicate with ps through a PHP script and so I discovered that Photoshop exposes the same properties and methods as described in javascript guide or vb guide also to the COM Object.
    All I needed was to push Javascript-Code from PHP to a version of Photoshop that ran hidden in the background.
    something like that:
    $version = 12;
    $ps = new COM("Photoshop.Application.".$version) or die ("Failed to initialize.");
    $ps->Visible = $visible;
    $ps->DisplayDialogs = 3;
    echo $ps->path; //echo a property
    $ps->DoJavaScript("alert(123);"); //perform javascript
    $ps->quit(); //perform a DOM function
    This however is the only experience I have with photoshop's COM interface. I never needed to use it again later.

  • How to access/open rpd files in offline mode from client desktop

    Hi All,
    Please tell me what configuration settings I need to have on my desktop to access RPD files stored on BI server?
    In our OBIEE environment, we have BI server installed on linux server, and I have installed BI admin tool on my desktop (Windows OS).
    I need to know what settings I should configure in my NQSConfig.ini file on my desktop so that I can access rpd files stored on BI server...
    I can access online RPD using BI server ODBC connectibity, but want to access other offline RPD files stored in repository directory on linux server where OBIEE 11g server installation is done.

    Saichand,
    Highly appreciate your response.
    But wht I am looking for is how to access other RPD files stored in repository folder on server machine where BI server is running, from BI administration tool which is installed on my desktop
    I am able to access default online repository on BI server using ODBC configuration from BI admin tool on my desktop, but want to access other rpd files (lets say sample rpd files which are installed on BI server machine) using (file->open-offline) option.
    As per Jay, it seems it is not possible to access repositories other than online repository on BI server, and I will have to copy those rpd files on my desktop and then access using file->open->offline option in BI admin tool.
    If you have any other way of doing this or have done this somehow , please let me know.

  • How determine page size by opening PDF file in binary mode

    Hi,
    I have to print PDF file but I would like to know the page size of the PDF file.
    What I have to verify (section, parameters) in order to know the page size? (Letter, Legal)
    Thanks!
    FE

    And if you multiply the values by (1/72):
    (792 - 0) / 72 = 11
    (612 - 0) / 72 = 8.5
    You may also have to consider rotated pages and not all pages within a PDF will match the size of the first page.
    Using Acrobat JavaScript:
    var nPage = 0;
    var cBox = "Crop";
    var aRect = this.getPageBox(cBox, nPage);
    var width = aRect[2] - aRect[0];
    var height = aRect[1] - aRect[3];
    console.println("Page " + (nPage + 1) + " has a width of " + (width / 72) + " inches and a height of "
    + (height / 72) + " inches");
    Produces the following output on the Acrobat JS debugging console:
    Page 1 has a width of 8.25 inches and a height of 11 inches

  • Opening the file in read only mode

    Host( 'cmd /c  attrib +r "\test_folder\testing\PURCHASE_ORDER\'||:PO_FILE_NAME||'"',NO_SCREEN);
    Host( 'cmd /c "\test_folder\testing\PURCHASE_ORDER\'||:PO_FILE_NAME||'"',NO_SCREEN);is this is the way to open the file in readonly mode?
    Along with the above the files which i opened with the help of above said code those files i am not able to delete also.(i have to delete the selected file)
    i thing when i am setting the attribute something is going for a mess!
    Please help.
    Thanks..
    Edited by: GD on Jun 23, 2011 2:25 AM

    hi,
    Read only means you cannot mofiy the file. This also includes that you cannot delete a readonly-file yes,
    what i am doing is i have three button in my layout 'save','view' and 'delete'.
    1.so when user press 'save' button after selecting the file then the file gets saved into the specified.
    2. when user press 'view' button the file has to open in read only mode.
    for this i have written above mentioned code(but still i am able to edit the file)
    3.when user press 'delete' button the file has to be deleted from the specified location.
    so my problem is after setting file to read only mode, i am able to edit but i am not able to delete it.
    What i am using to set the file to read only mode is right?
    Please help.
    Thanks..

  • InCopy Layout Mode not displaying correctly.

    I have a layout that I (designer) have created in InDesign. I have created the assignments and packaged for InCopy, but when the editor gets the InCopy file the "Layout" view displays the layout incorrectly which throws off the text for the entire document making it illegible in Layout mode.
    Has anyone else had this problem? or know of a fix?
    I can provide the file if anyone thinks they can help me troubleshoot.

    Jenny, this has happened to me in the past, and I was able to troubleshoot it to some corruption that came over from QXP (the layout was converted from an XPress layout). Apparently the INDD format is more forgiving than the INCA format when there are glitches.
    Just throwing it out there ... I just needed to rejigger some paragraph styles in the INDD file to fix the problem, as I recall.

  • Open file in edit mode

    I need to open a file in edit mode. In my web part on item click I need to do some action before hand (like create a folder and copy file, then open it in edit mode).
    I came across the code segment below to set to a hyperlink's onClick() event
    <a onfocus="OnLink(this)"    href="/Shared Documents/myDoc.docx"    onmousedown="return VerifyHref(this,event,'1','SharePoint.OpenDocuments','')"        onclick="return DispEx(this,event,'TRUE','FALSE','FALSE',            'SharePoint.OpenDocuments.3','1', 'SharePoint.OpenDocuments',            '','','','1','0','0','0x7fffffffffffffff')">Click</a>
    But in my case, it would be nice if I can open in C# code behind, after the folder operations in my Visual web part.
    SPfile's file.OpenBinary() give a byte[], but was unable to open file.
    I am using a LinkButton for the user to click on. Any advise ?

    Hi Ahamed,
    I guess you need to undertake some action server side before you redirect the user. There are a number of different ways to do it ... maybe using a long running process with redirect at the end ... or some jQuery that calls a "handler" waits for a response
    and then redirects the user.
    For the code to duplicate or copy the file see here:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/microsoft.sharepoint.spfile.aspx
    if the existing code you have to open the document in edit mode works you should be able to reuse it.
    Thanks Chris
