Opening Installation File In Applications

Hi All,
I'm having great difficulty oopening a game I have downloaded. I have gone onto the Second Life website to download the game onto my apple mac OS X Panther. It has downloaded successfully and gives the instructions to move the SL icon into my applications folder (which I have done). When I open this from the applications folder to install, in the bottom toolbar it flashes up for abou 1 second but then disappears again. So it's not fully completeing the download and installing it onto my computer. Please help if yu can.

You're Welcome Gaz!
...purchase an external hard drive to obtain more memory..."
No. An external HD, has nothing to do with RAM/Memory
Again,
How do you connect to the Internet?
You need to install the 10.3.9 Combo Update.
You must add more RAM.
I think you have an Apple iBook G4/1.33 14-Inch (Late 2004).
Is that correct?
If so, this is the type of RAM that you need, although it can be purchased elsewhere. This is just an example.
And here are some Preliminary Instruction Guide.
There should be details instructions in your iBook User's Manual.

Therefore I am unabled to view the full contacts listing.
How do I restore this list?

    Hello Barney-15E
I was not aware of the  existance of Previous Recipients.
However I have only added my contacts via the Contacts v Card.
I have selected all contacts and clicked "Add to Contacts" All now restored to original location.
Thanks Barney-15E for your prompt response.

  • Open documents/files from Application Server in forms 6i

    Hello All,
Our requirement is to open files that are in Application server( We do not want to upload them into database).
Is there a way to open this files from forms 6i.
I am wondering how the "View Output" or View log button works on the concurrent program submission form. Its the doing the same thing i.e pulling the file from Application server and showing up.
Please let me know if anyone has any ideas on how to get this done.
    Thanks
    Sunil

I assume you are using Forms 6i in web mode here. Then it is just a URL to the file if you properly map to a directory where you store the files:
    web.show_document('http://...../myfile.pdf');
But it also looks like you are using Oracle Apps, so might want to ask it in the e-Business Suite.

  • How to Open a file in Application Server

    Hi All,
I am having a recquirement that I had to read the data from an Application Server file, I want to know whether any function modules are there to open a file that is in the Application server.
    Thankx In advance,
    Sri.

    Hi,
If you are on windows, the solution is to create a shared directory anf give access rights to your sapservice <SID> user.
It's not really logical to put files on app servers because one app server can stopped without stopping the system.
So we decided to put all our shared directories on the Central Instance server.

    Hello Kittu,
What was the Sy-Subrc value after executing the Open Dataset statement?
If it is 8, then the problem could be with
    1) The path name not mentioned properly (or)
    2) User Id might not be having access to the file mentioned in the path
Also, if you are using the App Server as UNIX then the filenames should be of case sensitive.
Check the path first and note it down as per the actual case
    Hope this is helpful

  • Open Sharepoint File Launches application to Open Dialog

We are experiencing the following behavior on one machine in our group. The environment is SharePoint Online 2013, with libraries synchronized to the user PC. User PC is Windows 8.1 with Office 2013.
When you double-click a SharePoint file to open it, it launches the appropriate Office program, but it launches to the "Open" dialog (open local file, use a template, etc.)
If you close the program (Word, Excel, Visio, etc.) and double-click the file again to open it, it typically opens properly. On some occasions, it behaves as described above again.
Once the file is successfully opened, it opens properly from there forward.
When the file is actually opening, the splash screen indicates it is "downloading" the file, and there is a delay. The file is actually synchronized and has a local copy.
If you open a true local copy of any MS file format (not in a synchronized folder), the files open properly.
I suspect this is an issue with the office document cache or something, but I find no fix for this behavior.

    try these links:

  • Opening a file in Application Server

    Hi Friends,
I have a file 'abc' in application server, and i don't know the extension of it . while trying to open it using OPEN DATASET   statement, it fails because of no extension.
I have tried using 'abc.*'  in the open dataset   statement but it doesnt work....so is there any function module or is there any other way to open and read it.........

Its totally wrong to say OPEN DATASET statement failed because of no extension of the file! Actually, the ABAP run-time does not care whether the file has an extension or not. In most cases, the app server (file system) datasets/files are stored without any extension.
Here's how to approach your issue:
    1. Read the Keyword Documentation of OPEN DATASET
    2. Check the Sy-Subrc after OPEN DATASET statement and if its unequal to 0;
            a. Check the file name/path you are passing is correct
            b. Check you are using OPEN DATASET for READ
            c. Depending you are in a Unicode/Non-Unicode system, check the file is not already open
            d. Make sure the file you are trying to open physically exists in the app server!
Once you are able to OPEN the file then use READ DATASET command to read it.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers,
    Sougata.

    Hello,
I've created an application for my program using application builder, but the built application  is not able to open the required excel file as it was being opened in original program.
    Please help.

Please post your code. We cannot do anything to help you if you do not. There are too many things that could be wrong for us to try and guess what you are doing. Also please tell us which version of LV you are using and which version of the toolkit. This is important because there have been a lot of changes to the toolkits here in the last couple of years.

  • How do I open old files without application extensions on them?

I have lots of 1995 or so files written from a mac on 3.5 diskets most of which I have read onto disk.
But they have no extensions and I can't seem to open them.
If I had to guess I would say they are canvas, possibly powerpoint but using powerpoint 98and canvas 7 I can"t seem to open them.
I have a G3 powerbook.  a G3 tower both running OS9, a powerPC macmini running OS10 and OS9 in emulation, a PC portable running System10 and another PC portable running XP.
What are my options short of seppuku?
I need to get these files to teach a course.

When I use OS 9 and previous Mac systems I use CanOpener for problems such as you present. It is still available too.

Plus, CanOpener lets you view virus infected files without launching the virus. So you can safely check suspect files and recover text from them - a powerful way to avoid virus infections!
CanOpener has special text filters that let you...
*Extract Names, Phone Numbers, URLs, Email, Web and IP Addresses.
*Strip HTML Coding. Remove extra Carriage Returns and blank spaces from email and Web text.
*Extract important sentences such as questions or anything containing $'s and numbers.
*Rapidly find clean text in files that contain huge amounts of 'garbage'

  • Cannot open .CHM file when Application is running in Service Mode.

    Hello All,
I have a compiled HTML help file (.CHM) that i am trying to
integrate with my VB 6.0 project.
I am using RH_ShowHelp function (which uses htmlhelp()) to
    launch the Help File.
All is fine when i run my program in Application Mode.
But, when i install my app in Service Mode, (running under

I have tried to use ShellExecute API as well, and that does
    not work either.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get this working

Is there some other function call or parameters needed...
    Any input is appreciated.

Software executed as a service is usually running as a
    background task and
is usually executed not by the current logged-in user but by
    a special
default "user" named "System". There are a number of
    advantages to having
software run as a service... it can run continuously no
    matter who's logged
into the system or even if the system is locked.

  • Help!! Cannot run installer files

    Hi,
I seem to be having a problem running installer files. Once I double click on to run a file, i get an error message saying that there is no default application to run the document ..
I am trying to install Safari, and iWork
    Any ideas anyone?

The default application to open installer files is Installer, located in /Application/Utilities. There is a bug where it sometimes vanishes. If this has happened to you, you'll need to reinstall it. To do so, use Pacifist to retrieve it from your original system installer disks.
