Opening itunes on my mac

Ever since I got my mac back from the repairs, when I open itunes it displays the same message saying 'iTunes can't verify the identity of the server "ax.iTunes.apple.com"
It goes on to say confidential info could be at risk I don't know what to do?

You don't need to connect to iTunes, just the Mac App Store.
Read here >  Apple - OS X Lion - Get Lion in July. Only from the Mac App Store.
Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM

Rented movies downloaded to an Apple TV can't be transferred to any other device.

I am trying to open iTunes on my mac. But a box pops up saying "The folder iTunes is on a locked disk or you do not have write permissions for this folder". Anyone know what that means? I've had my computer 2 years and its never had a problem opening it

I've already right-clicked on the application, clicked "get info", and changed it so all people listed in the "Sharing & Permissions" section have the "read & write" privilage.
The error message is referring to your iTunes library, not your iTunes application.
You need to check and fix the permissions of the iTunes folder in your iTunes library. This is by default located in your "Music" folder.
Select the folder Music > iTunes  in the Finder, right click on it or Ctrl Click and click "Get Info". At the bottom of the contextual window thatwill  pop up, disclose the Sharing and Permissions brick, change your status from Read only to Read & Write. You may need to click the padlock icon to make changes.

  • I've just opened iTunes on my Mac with an error "The iTunes Library.itl file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file.". I created a shirred library so that all users on my Mac can access the same library. Help?

I have just opened ITunes on my Mac and the following error occurred "The iTunes Library.itl file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file.". When I setup my Mac I created a shared user area to contain my ITunes library so that I could share it with another user logged onto my Mac. However the error above gives me the impression that the library file is locked... I've checked and it does not seem to be locked under the "get info" fie information. Has anyone come across this before and found a solution?

You also need to make sure you have both read and write permission for the file, or for the whole iTunes folder for that matter.  That's also done in Get Info for the file or folder concerned.

    Hi gingerjacker,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
Did you restart your Mac and try again?  Sounds simple, but it's a good first step when troubleshooting.
If the issue persists you may need to delete iTunes from the Applications folder and download a fresh copy.  This does not affect your iTunes library, which is in a different location.

You are attempting to use the iPhone on a wireless provider that is not
supported. You will have to work with them to resolve any issues or
switch to a supported wireless provider. Which wireless provider are

This is the iTunes for Windows forum and so not the most likely place for you to get help with a Mac issue. Try the iTunes for Mac forum. You'll be more likely to get help there.
    Good luck.

  • I can't open iTunes from my Mac at all.

I get this error message: "The folder "iTunes" is on a locked disk or you do not have permission for this folder."  I'm very "un-techie" so I don't know what to do next.  I have not done anything different with the Mac, except it did an update earlier in the week.  Should I just reinstall iTunes?  Any help from the community would be so appreciated.  Thank you in advance.

Perhaps check to see if you're accidentally running two different versions of iTunes. There's some information on troubleshooting that in the Opening iTunes section of the following document:

  • How to I get play count on my iphone to show up in itunes on new mac?

I got a new macbook pro and downloaded the music from my other computer through homeshare. The play count on my phone would show up on the old computer but hasnt on the new mac even after syncing multiple times. I want the play count from the old computer's itunes to transfer to the new one.

Try syncing them back to your iPhone using iTunes.  Open iTunes on your Mac.  Connect your iPhone.  Select the albums or photos on your Mac that you wish to transfer back to the iPhone.  Click Sync.  They should then be synced to your iPhone.

  • When updating iTunes on my MAC, I get the error code (-42408)

When I try to open iTunes on my MAC it states I need to update. After updating, it closes and when I open again, I get the same updates. When I choose to not update, I get the error code (-42408). What can I do now?

Did you try to downgrade from iTunes version '11 to '10?

  • Streaming movies from Time Capsule to Apple TV without opened iTunes Library

    Hello !
It is possible to streaming movies from my Time Capsule without using Mac or iPhone like streaming device
For example ( I am using Time Capsule for movies Libary, Apple TV for streaming movies, but when i have MacBook Pro off, my iTunes Libary is off and i can't  streamimg my movies directly)
It is possible streaming Movies on my Apple TV without opened iTunes on my Mac ? I mean if it is possible streaming directly from TC to Apple TV, when Libary it on TC.
    Thank you for your answears.

    Hi,
you can stream from the Time Capsule, but must always have a player in the middle, either an iOS device or a mac compatible with video airplay.
If you want to use an iOS device, you can get the app FileBrowser. This allows your device to stream videos from the timecapsule, play them, and play on the AppleTV.
As erfurtivo said, O!play works perfectly with the TimeCapsule, if you don't want more devices in-between.
    Hope this helped
