Opening iWeb Problem

Dear All,
Having been working on a couple of websites in iWeb I went to return to them this morning and when i open iWeb application I get a message that it can't find one of my home.html files and wont open the programme.. How can I resolve this..?
I separated out the two sites I was working on to 2 separate files, but they both worked fine and I was using the programme ok until this am when this message appeared..?
Any suggestions..?

Quit iWeb, go to Home Folder/Library/Preferences and delete the com.apple.iWeb.plist.
Relaunch by double clicking the domain file for the site that is causing you problems.

Opening iWeb--problem selecting "New Page"

I opened iWeb for the first time, but almost all the options are in grey (meaning I can't select them). What do I need to do to get started? I can't even select "New Page" under the File menu.

I can not open iWeb now that I have tried to use time capsule to update?

I am a big user of iweb. I updated my computer to lion about a month ago and iweb transferred right over without any issues. I was working in iweb tonight and about an hour into my work, iweb unexpectedly closed. When i tried to open it back up, nothing was saved and I lost my work. I went into my time capsule and found a back up from 10 mins before and decided to update from that point in time. When i did so, it now wont let me open iweb at all. It says there is a problem. I have to get back into iweb. how do i do so? thank you

HI, there is no error message when I try to open iTunes, it just hangs.
In regards to the location of the media folder it was located on the network however I changed it to a local directory. Should I try unistall and install with the correct media library?

Error when opening iWeb 09

After using iWeb 09 since it was released, I now get this error when opening the app.
Can’t open file “/Applications/iWeb.app/Contents/Resources/Themes/Cloud 9.webtheme/Spanish.lproj/Podcast.webtemplate.”
I have tried opening from and external back up hard drive and also use Time Machine to replace the iWeb on my internal hard drive.

Hi there. I think I am having a similar problem. I was looking at some files in iWeb, but I don't believe I changed this one. I changed one of the "playtime" theme files, but then I changed it back. Anyway, I did look at the Modern Frame theme files but I didn't change them because I use them for a couple of my sites, and I was afraid to change anything. Maybe I did by accident? Anyway, here is the error I received.
Can’t open file “/Applications/iWeb.app/Contents/Resources/Themes/Modern Frame.webtheme/da.lproj/About Me.webtemplate.”
I am unable to open iWeb at all. That'll teach me.

Site Not Appearing When I Open iWeb 09

When I open iWeb 09 my web site usually appears. Now the application opens but the site does not. The inspector apears but nothing else. Under File I cannot open a new page or new site. Under library/application support/iweb the file named Domain is there. If I try to open that the same thing occurs.
Just before this started happening I would be able to open my site and on my blog page the main page opens and looks fine but the page with the individuals blogs as well as the archive page were blank. The program crashed a couple of times and now nothing appears as I have noted above.
If you have any thoughts on what is happening or has happened and what I can do about it please respond. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the link. Deleting the preferences file worked. Now I get my site back, however the problem with the blog remains.
I have the blog as a second site in iweb. It has been working fine as I have been creating it (haven't published this yet) but now only the Blog page is visible. The Entries page and the Archive page are blank white. When I went to try to publish it just now it came back with an error and unable to publish.
Any thoughts on this remaining concern? Thanks.

Cannot open iweb

When I try to open iweb i get this error message: Can’t open file “~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain.sites2.” I have tried re-installing iweb and I still get the error. Any ideas?

I click on iWeb and I recieve an error message stating it cannot open a file, thus the entire program won't open. I'd be a happy consumer if I got the answer to that problem.

IWeb Problem beginning

I have a slight problem with iWeb.
Opening iWeb for the first time i get iWeb open but its disabled and empty, i wish i could post a screenshot.
I beleive normally yoy get a dialog asking to select a template, but i dont get that. I get a sidebar with a empty "site" tree. The add button is disabled, the secondary click shows "New Page" disabled.
Please help

Open iWeb '08 site in iWeb 09

I am trying to add new material to my existing web site (created in iWeb '08). But I don't know how to open the site in iWeb '09. Unfortunately, the "Domain" has been overwritten the first time I opened iWeb '09. How can I migrate an iWeb html page into iWeb '09 to update it?

Hi, I am having the same problem. I created a website with blog and pictures using iweb 08 a week ago on mac. Now, I have new mac with iweb 09. I opened it, and it just gives you the option to create a new one? I did not save, so my original site is still there. How do I work on my site using iweb 09? I want to add some more entries onto my blog and add some more pictures from a trip.
There has got to be a way to do this?

IWeb problem... reverting to original

I hope I am posting in the right place... please redirect me if not... thank you.
I have a problem that requires someone with knowledge of the iWeb application. It's a bit lengthy to write so please bear with me and read on.
I have created a website (no.1) and published, no problem.
I have created a website (no.2) and not published, no problem.
I have created a website (no.3) and published, no problem. However, this was set up as a temporary measure. I published it prior to creating the 'real' site which I have today been working on. Rather than set up a new site for this 'real' one, I decided to simply edit the No. 3 site. I have not saved or published it yet. Since editing it, I have been asked to leave the original site as it is and so I have simply created site No.4 and have copied and pasted the edited version of No.3 to site No.4. I have not saved or published this latter site.
The problem I have met and need help with is...
I clicked on site no.3 and then went to File -> revert to saved.
It came up with a box saying 'do you want to revert to the most recently saved version of the document "Domain.sites2"? Your current changes will be lost.
Well, I was hoping it would refer to site no.3. As it doesn't, I have no idea what will happen if I click the 'Revert' option.
I want to keep the original site no.3 and the now new site no.4.
Can anyone help me sort this out please? I will be very grateful for any suggestions as i'm a bit desperate!!! (hours of work involved here gasp!)

You can't do what you want to do. Although the horse is out of the barn you should have duplicated site 3, renamed it site 4 and made the edits directly to site 4. The revert to saved means the domain file as it existed when you opened it (since you haven't made any saves since then).
Try the following: without saving or closing iWeb go to your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and duplicate the domain file there. That will contain sites 1-3 as they existed when you opened iWeb. Go back to iWeb and save. Now go back to the User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and double click on the Domain copy.sites2 folder. When it opens delete sites 1 and 2, leaving site 3.
Download iWebSites and merge the two domain files together. Then you can go in and delete the edited site 3 leaving site 1, site 2, the original site 3 and site 4.
If you plan on publishing multiple sites this might be of some help: I use iWebSites to manage multiple sites.. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files.
If you have multiple sites in one domain file here's the workflow I used to split them into individual site files with iWebSites. Be sure to make a backup copy of your original Domain.sites files before starting the splitting process.
This lets me edit several sites and only republish the one I want.

I am unable to open iWeb to update my website.

I cannot open iWeb. I cannot restart computer unless in Safe Mode. Operating in Safe Mode does that affect the opening of iWeb?

If you can't operate your MBP except in Safe Mode you have a bigger problem than just iWeb. boot into Safe Mode, Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode, and then reboot normally and see if it will boot. Safe Mode runs a number of disk repair routines that may help your situation.
iWeb can be run in Safe Mode.

Can't open iweb

Hi,
Really hoping someone can advise me.
Since yesterday I have been getting an error message when trying to open iweb ... Can't open file " ... Desktop/Picture6.png"
I believe I only updated iweb this weekend and no problem encountered.
Tried to use time machine to restore a copy of iweb from Friday and see if i could open that version. No luck at all ... same error message.
Have been working solidly this weekend with images for iphoto placing them on desktop first ... lots of them sent to iphoto / trash as I progressed through what I needed. The only thing that occurs to me that I have done was drag by accident images onto the iweb icon which is next to iphoto, when the application was closed - but nothing happened - or at least I thought nothing did. There is no longer any Picture 6.png... in fact there may have been several images used of that name over the course of the weekend. May have nothing at all to do with my problem, but thought I'd mention it anyway.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Based on your description, it sounds like the problem may be related to your accidently dragging photos onto the iWeb icon. While that did not harm iWeb, it may have changed the relationship between the photo(s) and the application they are associated with. I would try this.
Navigate to Your Home Director/Library/Application Support/iWeb. Inside that folder should be a file called Domain. Double click on the Domain file and iWeb should open.

How do you get help with an iWeb problem?

I've got a problem with iWeb that because I have been unable to fix and no one on the Forum has been able to address I'm stuck. The only advice that I rec'd was that it might be related to MobileMe. Regardless I don't have access to my website on my computer and can't perform any edits on the Welcome page (all other pages seem ok).
So is there anyone at Apple that I can call (a help line) with which to discuss my problem? OR do I have any other alternatives? If not, I really don't know what I can do to resolve this issue. Any help or input would be greatly appreciated.

OK, so my problem is that although I've used iWeb for a personal website for over 6 months w/o problems, last week I went to edit the site and when I opened iWeb I was unable to "view" to edit my Welcome page (basically the page is for lack of a better term - blank). As I was trying to troubleshoot on my own, I tried to add new content to the page, but could not add anything...it's like the page does not exist. However, all the other pages for my site are "ok" - i.e., they are viewable on my laptop and I can edit them. One more thing, the site appears ok on the web....the only problems are local, i.e., when I open iWeb on my laptop and try to edit the website locally. I am hopeful that my problem is clear.

Error opening iWeb

I'm opening iWeb for the first time (because my old site wasn't included in Backups automatic packages, which is another story) and I'm getting this odd error that I've never received before: Missing Font ArialMT and Arial-BoldMT.
I've searched around on these boards and see some similar situations but involving a slightly different font. I have iWork, iLife, and (regretfully out of necessity) Office all updated and running fine. I'm not savy enough to go in an alter the code as some have recommended. Is there not a simple, Mac-like fix for this small problem? Can I not somehow get these fonts reinstalled properly??

That almost sounds like an OS problem...not sure if Arial is included in iLife, but it IS there when you install the OS. Microsoft also installs their own version of Arial which has shown to cause problems with how fonts render. Have you tried to run the OS installer and just choosing the fonts?
Wait, there was another problem I had recently. My problem may have been different though because I DID see the fonts in the Finder, they just weren't in Font Book. You're not finding your fonts in the Finder either though, right?

You need to migrate to a modern, supported webpage development application and leave iWeb behind. It hasn't been supported for 2 years now and was behind the curve feature wise when it was dropped by Apple.
One app that many have migrated to because it is very similar to iWeb in the GUI and features is Everweb. It has a demo version that you can try. Text and photos from you current published site can be copied and pasted into Everweb to help the migration over.
There are other possible candidates. Just search the iWeb forum for "iWeb alternative" or "iWeb replacement" to get a list of topics discussing them.

Try the following:
1 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iWeb's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
3 - launch iWeb and try again.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
