Opening links on an iPad

We are trying to sever our portal on the iPad.  I have pdf, doc, ppt and xls files with hyperlinks in them.  I can open the files in Safari and Terra but the links don't work.  I have spoken to Apple support and they said there must be a permissions issue as there is no settings on the iPad to prevent this from happening.  Has anyone else had this problem?

I got an ipad yesterday. Set it up by linking to my laptop itunes account. All seemed fine when playing with last night. This morning ive opened itunes & I can find the itunes store, but cant find anything that opens my itunes account to see my downloads. Does anyone know how I open my itunes in "itunes" ?
iTunes on the iPad is the store. The iPod app is for playing music. Yeah, doesn't make any sense at all, since iTunes plays music on your computer. OK, it makes a little sense!
Have fun with your new iPad!

I am unable to open web pages from email links on my ipad

A few more details might help, if nobody else recognizes this.
What happens when you try to open the links?
Can you post an example of a link that doesn't work?
Is there any particular source for the mail with the (bad) links, or is mail from all sources failing?
If you happen to know it, what's the format of the mail message?  (Maybe the message is an image?)
Do the embedded links work as expected from an OS X system running Mail.app, or some system and some other other mail client?
To view the link in iOS: if you press on and hold your finger on an embedded link in most contexts, iOS will show a pop-up with the link contents, and will offer to copy it.  You can use that to acquire and post the link.  If pressing and holding on the link doesn't offer the pop-up, the format of the link itself may not be valid, or it might not really be a link.

  • Certain links on the iPad won't open on some sites...

So we have two websites which we'd like to make sure look good and work correctly on iPads and iPhones. One is the production site and one is the development site. Both sites currently have the exact same code.
When accessing links on the iPad, only those on the dev site open when touched. Links on the production site don't react when touched unless a user holds their finger down on it to open the "open in a new tab" dialog box.
The sites are hosted on different servers. Both are running Linux distributions.
The site does this in both Safari and Chrome. Resetting the iPad and clearing cache and history have no effect.
    Please help! Thanks.

  • Cannot open attachments or links on my iPad. Can do so on iPhone.

i can no longer open email attachments or links on my iPad.  I can still do so on my phone.

    try restart it fully:
Hold down the home button and power button at the same time. This forces the screen to fade and the Apple Logo to reappear. Don't let go of the buttons until the iPad shuts off.
Once the iPad is off plug the usb cable into the computer.
    Open iTunes
While holding down the Home button plug the cable into the iPad.
Contunue holding the home button until the you the itunes logo and the picture of the cable on the iPad screen. This may take up to 30seconds.
iTunes should now detect the iPad and you can perform a restore. Just follow the on screen instructions and it should restore.
Hopefully you have a recent back up.

  • IPad Air open links in apps

How to make the iPad open a link (from a website, from an email, from another app, from anywhere) in the correct app?
i.e. open in Etsy, Pinterest, Instagram...

Well, the way that I read it, it does answer the question, the OP talks about this occurring in apps as well.
"Is there a way to make the iphone open links in their appropriate app instead of in the web browser. It drives me INSANE! I click on a groupon link in my email and I am sent to safari where I get a pop up that says "download the groupon app."  Same thing happens for many apps I use everyday.  The Iphone isn't smart enough to open the links in the appropriate app?"
The feature has to be built into the app itself. At least that is what I get out of it, if I read the entire discussion all the way through. But I could be misinterpreting what is being stated.
Sorry, I do no social networking at all, so I can't speak about that. Actually, I do use LinkedIn in a very limited fashion and when I accept an invitation from my email, It does tell me to get the app, but I can close that window and then LinkedIn opens in Safari and I don't need the app.
That probably doesn't answer your question, but I did want to give it a try.

  • Why is Safari opening the app store when I do not hit the link?(On iPad)

Why is Safari opening the app store when I do not hit the link?(On iPad)

Well this was my first time using the support communities app on the web so when I tried to get the answer there were literally 1000's of post and I was not sure which one pertained to me and my iPhone issue. Sorry if I offended in some manner, didn't mean to.

  • Can I create a link on my iPads screen to a document on my iPad so I can view it without opening an app

Is there a way to add a link on my iPad screen to open a document instead of opening a app and then opening the document?

With the exception of a few apps, like Safari, the answer is no.

  • HT1694 Cannot open email links since updating iPad to iOS 7

I cannot open links in emails since I updated my iPad to iOS 7

I was having the same issue with my iPhone 5 iOS 7 and support resolved the issue for me.  Here are the steps from support:
clear your Cookies and History. Go to Settings > Safari > Click on Clear History then Clear Cookies and Data. When that's finished hard reset the iPhone. Make sure your device is not plugged into the computer right now. Press the circle home button and the power button together for about 10 - 15 seconds or until until you see an Apple. Then you can release the buttons and the device will power itself back up. Then try the link from your email.

  • Whenever I try to open an app my ipad restarts itself, how can I fix it?

I turned by ipad off then back on and after that, whenever I would try and open an app, my ipad would just restart itself. I've reset the system but it still won't work, what should I do?

Restoring is a standard troubleshooting measure if you experince problems with your device. Restoring will return you iPad to factory (out of the box) settings.
What you did (holding the sleep and home buttons, wait for the Apple logo) is what most users refer to as a reset but I just wanted to make sure that was what you did.
Try this - but I don't think it will help. If the App Store app is working - Download any free app. It doesn't matter which app - just pick a free one and download it to the iPad. See if that resets the iPad and if the other apps will start working without the iPad restarting.
If that doesn't work or if the App Store app will not work either, you may have to restore your iPad. Read this article for information on restoring your iPad.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414
You will need to backup the iPad if you restore and there is a link at the bottom of the website that you can click on and read about iTunes backups.
Don't do anything that you are uncomfortable with. Post back if you have more questions about anything.

  • TS3899 All of a sudden, I can't open links in my emails.  Not just yahoo, but others as well.

For the last 2 or 3 weeks, I haven't been able to open links in my emails.  This includes personal & business accounts.  One is Yahoo & the other is Outlook Exchange.  I've never had any problem before.  It's only on the IPad.  I have 2 other tablets not IPads, a Samsung smartphone, & I have no problem on them.  I can't think of anything I've changed that would cause the problem.  Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem is and how I can fix it?

    Hey irishman41!
You may want to try forcing Mail to quit, if you haven’t yet:
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
You may also need to try to reset your iOS device using the steps in this article:
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset

Thanks for being a part of the Apple Support Communities!
    Cheers,

  • Save Image instead of opening link

I have created email signature with several links from images used in signature. It works well on all PCs, iPad and works on iPhone if I will use attachments in email. But if it is simple email with this signature than on iPhone clicking on image results in Save Image prompt instead of opening link. The temporary solution I am using is to use dummy attachment. Can I have it working without attachment ?

    Hi ,
It looks like your report column is set to display as Text. Go to "Home>Application Builder>Application #>Page #>Interactive Report Attributes" and change it to Standard report Column and you should be all set.
    Thanks,

  • How do i delete Reader Links in Safari iPad

how do i delete Reader Links in Safari iPad?
    What I have done:
select a Link in the Reader Links Menu.
    Swipe across the link
    a Red DELETE button appears
    I press the DELETE Button
Nothing Happens (including no error message)!!
    Can you help please?

Mine appears to work. Try clearing Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cookies And Data (Clear Cache on iOS 4) and also Clear History
If that doesn't fix it then try closing Safari completely and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Can't open Adobe documents on iPad 3

Can't open Adobe documents on iPad 3 with Adobe app

Here is web site where I had the problem.
    http://hosted.rightprospectus.com/IvyFunds/Fund.aspx?dt=AR&cu=8911&ss=IF
Since then I received another such email with a pdf extension and it worked!
I got this reply from Adobe on my problem with the above link.
    "Thanks John,
I looked at your screenshots, and it appears that the issue you are seeing is that the website you are trying to get the documents from is not compatible with the iPad. Unfortunately, many websites have still not yet updated to work with the new mobile systems, but since tablet sales are increasing rapidly, and should overtake laptops in the next 3 years, that will change.
The website seems to be using an HTML feature called “Object Embedding” which only works on desktop computers. The website seems to also be presenting a dialog to the user letting them know that to view the embedded PDF they need to install Adobe Reader, and forwards the user to our standard Adobe Reader download page.
The net is that I don’t know how to make this work for you, unless you can find a way to make that website give you a link to just download the PDF directly.

Unable to open pdf document in ipad. Pls help me.
The webpage with attachment shows this msg.
Note: The PDF attachment is only supported by Adobe Reader 9.0 and above. If you are not able to view the attachment online, please right-click the attachment link and save the file onto your local machine. Please open the downloaded file using Adobe Reader 9.0 and above.

You can offer feedback to Apple here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/
    Support here: http://www.apple.com/support/ipad/contact/
However, the issue is very likley something in the file itself or the manner in which it is linked that causes the issue. Other thsn this file, I never have any issues opening a PDF in Safari or other applicable apps. Chances are slim to none you will get any troubleshooting.
