Opening Linksys E2000 NAT type....

I have followed the instructions on several different websites, including this one, yet still my NAT type is strict.  I am trying to play Xbox LIVE and it connects, but the messenger constantly disconnects and it takes a VERY long time to get into a game.
I have tried the following links without success:
http://homecommunity.cisco.com/t5/Wireless-Routers/Need-HELP-to-change-NAT-type-to-open-on-Linksys-E...

I have tried to set a DMZ, which i remember doing in the past successfully, but somehow it has changed and didnt work out this time.  One issue i am having is the IP address on the Xbox is like 192.168.1.xxx, and the IP on my router is 192.168.0.xxx.  So i changed the IP to have a 1 instead of the 0 on the 3rd set of numbers, and at that point the xbox just totally lost connection to the router.  Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?  Im desperate i have been trying to fix this for a couple months since i renewed LIVE and i feel like ive wasted my money.

this means that your E2000 is connected to a modem/router device.
what you need to do first is to ask your ISP on how to setup your modem to bridge mode and setup your router as the gateway.
once the modem is set to bridge, setup the router, as advised on the links you provided, forwarding ports; and you should be set

  • How to open a E2000 Nat type...

For Xbox 360? currently, whether wired or wireless, my Xbox 360's NAT type is strict, and I am unable to do anything online whatsoever. Is there anyways to set up an exception, or anything that can open my Xbox's connection to my router so I can actually use it online? I just had a Cisco live support member leave a chat session after I stated my problem, I would really like some help with this.

Found this link. Give this a whirl.

  • PS3 NAT Type

Hi there, anyone have a guide how to open up the NAT type on the PS3 with the HH4, on the main settings/test on the PS3 this is type 2 - used to be type 1 with my old provider. When using COD the NAT is set to moderate. this used to be open, before i got the HH4.
I also set the IP address in the router to static with no success.
    Many thanks

I'm not sure how to set up my modem in "pure bridge" mode
Broadband ADSL2+ Modem DM111PSP User Manual - Netgear
Please refer to item #3 on page 13 and also Page 64 in the User Manual, which explain how to do this.
You must configure the modem in Bridge Mode or "Modem Mode" first and then configure the AirPort Extreme to connect using PPPoE. Enter your user name, password, etc., in the AirPort Utility setup, but leave the Service Name area completely blank. Connection should be "Always On" and Disconnect if Idle should be "Never".
You cannot configure the AirPort Exteme to connect using PPPoE unless you first configure the modem in pure bridge mode, or "modem mode".
This is the only way to obtain "Open NAT" using this modem and the AirPort Extreme.

  • How to get a open NAT type with a linksys E2000 on PS#

I called customer service and they were completely clueless, told me I had to pay for the Tech support to fix it. I have a Linksys E2000 and I cannot get a open nat for my PS3, tried the DMZ, and XBox settings but that obviously didnt work. So anybody have any ideas before I return this $100 router???
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I've been having the same problems but on my Xbox.  I'm going to try this:
    On router:
    1 - Status tab
        Get DNS 1 & 2
    On Xbox:
2 - Static IP on Xbox
        IP: 192.168.1.xxx
        Mask: 255.255.255.0
        GW: 192.168.1.1
3 - DNS Addresses on Xbox
    On router:
    4 - Forward ports
        TCP 80
        UDP 88
        Both 53, 3074
    5 - Security tab
        uncheck Block Anonymous Internet Requests
        disable uPnP?
    6 - Reset devices
I'll let you know how it goes.

  • Linksys E2000 (2 Xbox 360's and 1 PS3) Open Nat Problem

    Hi everyone,
I recently bought the Linksys E2000 for my house so i could enjoy wireless internet. The problem is i have two Xbox 360s which one is wired and the other wireless. It seems that i can't have both Xboxs with OPEN NAT and whichever one connects to the router first is the one to have OPEN NAT no matter what. This leaves the other Xbox with MODERATE or STRICT. Is there a way to have both open at the same time? If anybody knows help would be appreciated! Thanks
**I have a PS3 also connected wirelessly, but that one is always OPEN. Didn't know if that would affect my PS3's NAT if i were to change the setting on my router.

Here's a checklist. Got it here.

A known issue with Linksys routers is the NAT Type 3 or anything related to dropping of Internet connectivity during play time. Network Address Translation (NAT) is the ability of a router or firewall to translate a public IP address to a private IP address and vice versa. It adds security to the network by keeping the private IP addresses hidden from the outside world.
Gaming consoles such as Xbox 360®, PlayStation®3, and Wii™ often encounter NAT related issues resulting to poor gaming experience. This problem is resolved by checking the settings on your router which contribute to NAT issues.
This is due to the built-in firewall of the router and to get past this, you will need to open ports on the router. You may do this by either doing Port Forwarding or Port Triggering. Once the ports are successfully opened, the NAT Type issue will change to Open or Moderate thus, making the gaming console work.
Here is the link which resolve the issue: http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=2902de6218ed4dc1a4c595595ca1f60a_Resolving_NAT_Typ...

  • How to change the NAT type to Open on a Imac using bridged connections

Hey everyone I have a problem. I play xbox live with my friends and i just moved and dont have a wireless adapter anymore. so i have bridged connections with my imac and xbox via ethernet. It works perfectly, but the only problem is that when i connect it say that my NAT type is strict. To play with all my friends i need a open NAT type. Does anyone know how to make the NAT type on the Imac open. And i do have a D-link router model DIR-625. When i called D-link they said to port forward, i did and it still didnt work, they said it must be the fire wall on the mac, microsoft said the same thing, that it might be the fire wall. I checked the fire wall and it said "All Incoming connections are allowed".
I would really much appreciate it if someone helped me. Thank you!

Yes, most likely. Microsoft has provided a list of XBox LIVE!-compatible routers. Since the OS X Internet Sharing feature is limited, there is no way to configure port mapping or placing the XBox in a DMZ with it. Typically, you either use a compatible router or configure port mapping/DMZ for non-compatible routers.

  • Verizon quantum gateway router and 2 Xbox ones nat type open?

Hello, so Verizon sent me there new router quantum gateway, I have 2 Xbox ones. Upnp is enabled and I have both xbox ones set to static ip. I have one xbox in dmz and the other xbox has all the ports forwarded udp 88, 3074, 53, 500, 3544, 4500, tcp 3074, 53, 80. Both Xbox ones in settings / network show nat type open but in call of duty advanced warfare multiplayer/ xboxlive screen. what ever Xbox one turns on first says nat type open and the other says moderate. Hopefully someone here can help cause I can't find any information anywhere and Verizon technical support has no clue
    Thanks in advanced

Hi you need to do two things
Step 1: You have to program the router with port forwarding rules for your xbox one specifically
See instructions here Network Settings on Xbox One - Xbox Support
Step 2: You have to program the router with port forwarding rules for your CoD AW
see instructions here: ports used for Call of Duty games.
if you're not terribly familiar with port forwarding, then there are some good guides online including some youtube video's.
You might not technically find a whole lot on the quantum gateway router specifically, but its identical programming as compared to the Actiontec REV I router
This site has the specific ports that the xbox wants

  • Should I get a new router to get open NAT type?

Whenever I play COD Black ops 2 on my xbox 360 my NAT type is strict. I have a centurylink 660 series modem and that is working to its full potential of the bundle we bought from them. I also have an airport extreme (2009). I Know theres all these port forwarding stuff, but whenever I try to do that, my whole network crashes and I have to factory default all of my stuff. So would getting a new router help me? also, I have my airport extreme in bridge mode because It said I have a double NAT and DCHP. So what would be the best solution for getting an open NAT type for Call of Duty on Xbox 360? I also have a MacBook pro (2009).

Yes, that is what I am doing.  I don't know the setup details for what you want to do, but I am running a MacBook Pro (late 2008), iPad, and a couple of iPhones on wifi through my Airport Extreme base station.  I also run backups to a Time Capsule.
The base station is set up to "Create a wireless network" and runs in "DHCP and NAT" mode.  The Time Capsule and two Airport Expresses are set up to "Join a wireless network".  My cable modem (Ubee DVW3201b) runs in bridge mode, connected by cable to the WAN port on the base station.  I have the wifi capability of the modem disabled.  It took me some trial and error to get the cable modem set up properly, but there is a lot of information out on the net.

  • Cisco Linksys EA6500 Smart Wi-Fi Router AC1750 (STRICT NAT TYPE XBOX 360)

    Hi All,
I have 2 kids. Each with his/her own xbox. One Xbox gets an open NAT Type OPEN and the 2nd Xbox gets a STRICT NAT type. I had the same issue with the other Cisco router I had, but thought an upgrade might fix the problem. Plugged up new router last night, same dang issue. Why can't 2 Xbox gaming systems have an open NAT type at once with these routers? Anyone have any suggestions, I am all ears.
Ready to try another router (Netgear, D-Link)
    Thanks

If I am not mistaken, theoritically one router is only applicable with one xbox. The reason for that is because you need to use or open ports on your router and you can only use one port for one ip address. What you can try though is to leave the working xbox the way it was setup and then set DMZ on your router using either the 2nd xbox's ip address or mac address.

  • How do you change the NAT Type to Open?

Hey everyone, I bought the apple AirPort Extreme Base Station (The tall one) and I've bought the xbox one. So I tried joining a party and it didn't work so I checked my nat type and it showed strict how do I make it open ?

You must manually port forward all the ports required because the AEBS does not conform to upnp standard used by MS.
See Tesserax documents for port opening.
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3415
Just look up what ports the game requires.
This is the min required for xbox live to work.
Xbox Live requires the following ports to be open:
    Port 88 (UDP)
    Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)
    Port 53 (UDP and TCP)
    Port 80 (TCP)
    Port 500 (UDP)
    UDP Port 3544 (UDP)
    UDP Port 4500 (UDP)
    http://support.xbox.com/en-AU/xbox-one/networking/network-ports-used-xbox-live
About time apple realise since they don't make consoles anyway it is time to actually help people who do.
