Opening LiveCycle generated pdf on mobile devices

We have created numerous documents in LiveCycle ES3 so that the forms can be filled in and saved as a PDF, and so that some sections of the form can expand to accept large text blocks when needed.  The forms work perfectly when opened on a desktop version of Adobe Reader.  They don't open at all when users are attempting to view on a mobile device (Android, I Phone, I pad, etc).  The devices have the most current version of Adobe Reader installed, but still get an error message.
Is there any way to save the forms so that they can be read from a mobile device with Adobe Reader?  If not, are there any third party apps that will open the forms?  They don't need to be able to fill in.  The mobile users will only be opening the form and reading it.

Forms designed in LiveCycle Designer ES3 are XFA based forms. They cannot be opened on mobile devices.
LiveCycle ES4 introduced Mobile Forms module which can render the existing XFA form as HTML5. More info here : http://helpx.adobe.com/livecycle/topics/mobile-forms-dev.html

  • Opening a blank PDF on mobile devices..

Using an existing and working PDF from a large company and filing in the user fields as needed. Fields are filled in, sent out thru email.. Mobile users open it up and receive a blank PDF, yet desktop users receive a filled in PDF. Any ideas??

Would it be possible to share that PDF form with us? If not, do you know if the form makes use of any javascript code?

  • Can't open libHaru-generated PDF with Reader, other readers work.

Our application uses libHaru to export PDF images.  These PDFs can be opened using PDFlite on Windows, Preview on Mac and some other readers.  However, I have tried several versions of Adobe Reader on both platforms and the files fail to open with the message: "There was an error processing a page.  There was a problem reading this document (14)."   So, it seams that Adobe Reader believes that there is problem with this file.  However, from my very limited understanding of PDF structure, I have no idea what might be wrong, so I don't know how to fix it.  The file is written unencrypted.  It is about as simple a PDF as we can generate - a red-filled rectangle.  I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or help.

  • InDesign document as an interactive PDF for mobile devices?

How can I export an InDesign document as an interactive PDF for mobile devices?

Avoid SWF at all cost and export using Adobe PDF (interactive).
The experience will depend on the PDF reader that the user has installed.

  • Interactive pdf and mobile devices

    Hello,
Does Adobe plan to build an Adobe Reader application for mobile devices that allow to read "interactive pdf" ?
Do we have information about the possibility to read perfectly "interactive pdf" on mobiles devices ?

    Hi,
The request is a part of our product backlog but we cannot commit to its availability in the immediate future.
    Thanks,

  • Open attachements in PDF from mobile

    Hello,
I created a PDF with some attached files and links (in fact annotations) to these files:
When I open the PDF from my computer with Acrobat Reader I'm able to open all files either by clicking directly on the "Attachments" column or clicking to the links (annotations).
But when I try to do the same on mobile (iOS, Android or WP) via the Acrobat Reader application, it doesn't work:
I can't access to the attachments column
When I click to the links (annotations), nothing happen
Thank you in advance for your help.
PS: This question was posted on stackoverflow too https://stackoverflow.com/questions/27859349/open-attachements-in-pdf-from-mobile
    Gerald.

    Hi Gerald,
Adobe Reader mobile products (for iOS, Android, Windows Phone) support PDF and non-PDF attachments.
If a PDF document contains attachments, Adobe Reader for iOS shows the attachments icon in the bottom bar.
When you tap the icon, Adobe Reader will display the attachments.
You can tap an individual file to view it in Adobe Reader.
There are three different hyperlink actions that the desktop version of Adobe Reader supports.
Go to a page view (within the same document)
    Open a web page
    Open a file
Adobe Reader mobile products support the first two but does not support opening a PDF file or any other types.
Please let us know if  you have additional questions.  Thank you.

  • PDF on mobile devices.

Does the PDF created in LC Designer 9.0, extended through Adobe Reader Extension Server, requires a certain version of reader to work on mobile devices? Some customers were trying the PDF on their mobile device versions of Reader and it wouldn't open.
    Thanks

    Hi,
As Paul says XFA forms are not supported.
XFA Forms don't work (very well) on iOS devices. The passport form you mentioned is probably a Static PDF Form and the target version is probably set for v7.
Even at that the form does NOT fully work across three apps on iOS:
    XFA Form in iOS Safari:
XFA Form in iOS PDF Expert:
XFA Form in iOS Adobe Reader:
In all three cases you can see the form, but either some OR all of the functionality is broken.
If the form was saved as a Dynamic XML Form it would be even worse!!! You probably would not even see the form!!!
Maybe you should check out Adobe FormsCentral, for web-based forms that open and work on mobile devices: https://formscentral.acrobat.com/app.html.

  • Open a generated pdf file in new window

    Dear all,
    I'm using JDev ADF 11.1.1.4.0
I use the command button method to generate pdf file with JasperReports and I store it into the public folder /reports/test5.pdf. To open this file I can use goLink or goButton with target frame _blank, but how can I open this file automatically after generation?
I was reading about fileDownloadActionListener, but it's not what I need, I just want to open the file in new window browser.
    Any help will be appreciated.

  • Viewing PDF in mobile devices

If you create a Pdf using Indesign, import into Acrobat Pro and add text etc.....if you then save the Pdf to email to customers, the text entered using Acrobat Pro does not show in mobile devices!

Thanks for your reply....not sure how to upload a file....it's a very simple Pdf, viewed on a laptop or desktop there's no problem, only mobile devices.
Everything done with Indesign is fine, only some minor text entered using Acrobat does not show.

  • Multimedia in PDF on Mobile devices runnig android and iOS6

    Hello,
I managed to integrate video (mp4) and also animation (.swf) into a PDF-file. Were are distributing PDFs to our students. Is there any possibility to access the multimedia content using mobile devices? That is tablets running iOS 6, android 4.1 and also e-readers such as kindle paper white?
I tried different readers on iOS and also on android but could not get it to work.
I'm looking forward to get an answer to this question.

In terms of Adobe software, the short answer is "no" and the long answer is "wait and see but don't get your hopes up".
The paid-for third party Android app "ezPDF Reader Multimedia" has some support playback of video and sound annotations, but it doesn't cope with Flash or scripting so the experience in a complex interactive PDF is variable to say the least.
In terms of Flash, there will never be integration into the mobile versions of Reader as the runtime isn't distributed to mobile platforms anymore. About half of the JavaScript API calls are technically possible on Android but JS isn't part of the app yet (we have very limited JS API support on iOS right now, but only for forms-related function calls), Direct playback of embedded RMA media streams (MP3 and H.264) is also technically possible on both platforms (as ezPDF demonstrates), but Adobe have chosen not to make it a priority.

  • Livecycle generated PDF won't preview in Windows Folder

    Hi,
I've noticed that PDFs I've created via livecycle won't auto preview when single clicked in a windows folder. If I take the Livecycle created PDF and print that to a new PDF, then it will preview (See below)
Does anyone have any ideas as to why this could be happening?
    Livecycle Created PDF
    versus
Livecycle Created PDF used to prints a second PDF
    Thanks,
    Mike

Okay, but what Terminal command did you attempt to use before? What happens in the new user account when you try Safari there? Do you have any Input Managers installed? Those are located in /Library/InputManagers and Home/Library/InputManagers; if you don't have either of those folders, then you have no Input Managers.
You can also try quitting Safari and going to Home/Library/Preferences and deleting the com.apple.Safari.plist file, then restarting Safari and resetting all your preferences to see if that resolves the problem. But don't do that until after you've had no luck with the things above.

  • Cannot open pdf on mobile device

    Hi,
I have a user trying to open a pdf document from our SharePoint 2013 portal (with an Office web apps server in the farm). He is receiving the following message: "Viewing of .pdf files has been disabled in Microsoft Word Mobile viewer". Any ideas
of how this issue can be resolved? Is it a feature that needs to be turned on?
    thanks,
    Sherazad.
    Sherazad

    Hi Sherazad,
For your issue , you need to enable Office Web Apps MobileView for PDF files:
    Get-SPWOPIBinding -Action "MobileView" –Application "WordPDF" | Remove-SPWOPIBinding -Confirm:$false
New-SPWOPIBinding –ServerName "Server.corp.Contoso.com" -Action "MobileView" –Application "WordPDF" -AllowHTTP

  • Cannot open LiveCycle protected pdf

When trying the iOS reader to open a Livecycle DRM protected pdf, I get the following error (I'm obfuscating the server name on purpose) - "Access to this document is restricted by this remote server xxxxx.xxxxx.com, however we are unable to connect it at this time.  Please try to open it again later. If you continue to see this message, check whether your device is supported by this server."
I can open the exact same pdf on a Windows desktop using Adobe Reader.    Is there something on the LiveCycle server that needs to be configured for the iOS client?

Hi, please review the FAQ referenced off of blogs.adobe.com/security/2011/10/just-released-adobe-reader-10-1-for-ios-and-android.html. Please make sure that you have a supported server version running, no problems with SSL, and a appropriately-configured policy. If you still experience problems, please contact Adobe Support to help debug your specific enviornment. Thanks!
