Opening long existing mail (app) show "welcome to mail" screen

Folks -
Running OS X 10.5.8 on a MacBook Pro. Applecare was up about 6 months ago and I don't want the second mortgage for a single incident charge or I'd schedule a call with them.
This morning, when opening the Mail app, was prompted for account set up in the welcome to mail screen, as though the app had suddenly lost the logical linkage to the underlying mailboxes and accounts. The files appear to be there (Library/Mail....) But app behaves like it wants a new set up. Very concerned that doing a new set up with the same mail accounts will result in an overwrite of the existing message folders.. HELP... what happened? Any ideas.

I hate to confess, but it was as simple as Mail being turned off in Settings/iCloud. Don't know how it got that way, but it did. Reminds me of the old saw, when your computer won't start, first check to see if it's plugged in.

You cannot retrieve the already published site as iWeb CANNOT open it - it has no import facility.
You need your domain.sites file, which you can find under User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites. You do not need any kind of account for this because it is your domain.sites file that resides on the hard drive of your Mac anyway. Find this file and you can alter your website.
Use a spotlight search to try and find it and if this does not work you can download something called Find Any File. If you really can't find it, then you'll have to start from scratch because iWeb cannot open a site that is already published.

So there are no apps at all on your home screens? Try a reset. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone will reboot. If you don't see anything after that, take a look at all of your home screens and folders to see if something is hidden. It that doesn't work, you can go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout.

Try turning off GPU support in your Photoshop's preferences performance section. Also check that you have installed the latest device driver installed for your GT 970 adapter and that all CS6 updates are installed... Your CS6 should be version 13.0.1.3....

I uninstalled netflix app from my ipad, then reinstalled and now it won't even open nor does the app show up on my list of apps, I can't reinstall it since it shows I purchased it already but won't do anything when I press the "open" tab.

Some song genres that no longer exist are still showing on my iPod

I had some inconsistencies the name of a genre so I changed it. After changing and syncing it to my ipod, the misspelled genre is still there, but when I click on it, it shows the results of the correctly spelled genre.
It's an error that only shows on my ipod, not itunes. How can I fix?

My guess is that the inconsistancy still occurs in another song, particularly if the inconsistancy is capitalisation.
In iTunes, when you look at that genre, you see only one version, but if you look very carefully, do you see the incorrect version on any song in it? (If the issue is a "space" after the last letter of the genre, it will be very difficult to spot.) Copy the correct version of the genre that you want to use and paste it into every song in the genre. Then Sync the iPod to your Library.
Does that fix it?

When trying to sync iPhone 6 with existing library, iTunes shows "Welcome to new iPhone" screen

I have previously accepted defeat and synced with an older backup in order to save some previously saved stuff, but this didn't help the next time I tried to sync it. I don't want to sync as new iPhone to erase everything I have on it now, but not being able to sync with iTunes doesn't let me have any of my store music on it. Any tips on how to get iTunes to recognize my phone and let it sync without re-booting the entire phone?

007maha: from my experience, involving three hours of troubleshooting using Apple's tutorials, without help from Apple:
1. Do the steps here to remove and reinstall all Apple software on your machine, "Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP," at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925.
2. If you care, they don't tell you or ask you to uninstall MobileMe in those steps.
3. After I did as they wrote to do, iTunes wouldn't recognize either my iPhone or iPad. On my own I found that Applie's software reinstallation failed to install the Apple Mobile Device Software Driver. So I followed the steps at, "iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows," which took me 25 minutes alone to find. See http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
Those steps solved everything and iTunes is now back to normal.

Why won' t my apps show on my home screen after update?

Even after opening the app through the app store, it still wont stay on my home screen.

Never mind was a mistake, my iphone made a seperate page just for the app store, and then a thrid page for apps.

Navigation buttons not showing up on Mail screen. Any suggestions?

This issue started two days ago before which it was working normally.
Basically, now when I click on the mail icon on the main menu, it opens up the mail screen but the navigation buttons on the top (allowing me to go to the parent folder, go to previous/next message etc.) do not show up any more.
The top of the screen now is the To: field. I have tried to scroll up past it but its just a dark grey area.
Any suggestions would be very helpful.

Deleting files that no longer exist.

Maybe someone can help me. I know you've all seen when a music file no longer exists and it shows up in iTunes with the little .
I just lost an external harddrive recently, requiring me to update all of my music libraries. WMP works fine in that I do a search and it AUTOMATICALLY deletes all files that don't exist. My only option, as far as I can tell, in iTunes is to delete these files from the media library manually.
Someone please tell me there's a better way and Apple just tucked it somewhere inconspicuous. I really don't feel like deleting 10,000 music files manually.
Or does iTunes actually suck that much?

I've created a script that will remove all the entries with exclamation marks.
Go to my iTunes scripts page and follow the link to download Perl. Install Perl, then download and run the script "itunesremovenotfound.pl".

Opening App's on non active screen

Hello,
Like the idea of Maverics alllowing the finder bar at the top of all screens! Makes using the external monitors easier, however I dont like (and want to turn off) the fact that the dock follows me to that screen, also the fact that I have Microsoft Outlook on one screen and want the "new Mail" or "reply" to open on another screen however it open on the Mail screen! (PAIN!!!!) There must be a way to turn this off!
So far dont like Maverics!

Why the cursor is blinking even when the application window is not active? Is it a bug in Swing?More likely a bug in Windows. I've seen this behavior in a VFP application too.
Now if I minimize the notepad, the swing application appears to be Active, but it is not accepting any keyboard input (the window is still not focused).Seen that too, in a non-Java app.
If you have the facilities to do so, you might like to test the behavior on a non-Windows (Linix / Mac) system and tell us what you discover.

Yeah, I've done that. And the I click the mail app to try to check my mail, and that screen that I described above shows up.

Items are permanantly associated with a single AppleID used at the time of the purchase.
You will have to contact Apple about the non-working e-mail and forgotten password. It's kind of like going to the police and saying you know that red car in the corner of the parking lot is yours but you don't have the papers for it and you have lost the key to the door.
