Opening MS Excel file in MS Excel

Hi,
I'm trying to open an MS Excel file in Excel using Java. I've searched the forums for the answer to my question, but with no luck. I'm using the Runtime.exec() method, and have read the API but I think I may be a little confused on how to use it and haven't found any good examples. What I'm using for my parameter is "cmd \c start excel c:/documents and settings/user/desktop/test.xls"
My problem is that it sees the space after 'documents' as the end of a file. I don't have a problem opening locations that do not have a space in the file path.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!!

Process proc = rt.exec(cmdbuffer);Untested with your cmd line, let me know if it doesn't work.
