Opening new browser window from backing bean

Is it possible to open new window from backing bean?
Regards, Simy

quite sure its not possibleIt is possible !! But a fifferent way of doint it!
I assume this is what you want ! on click of a button you want to go to the backing bean and come back with the new page on a new window !!
Do the following! On click of a button, call a javascript method which does the following
window.open('/jsf/somepage.jsf',.....)In the constructor of the backing bean, do the backend processing and set the fields of teh backing bean. And when the page gets rendered its as good as what you want...

  • Open new browser window from a JApplet

    Hi,
    I want to open a new browser window from a JApplet.My first thought was to use the Live Connect technology but it worked only with simple applets not with JApplets.Then i tried it by getting the Applet context (getAppletContext() method) but it still didn't work with JApplet...(it worked with Applet).I believe it has something to do with the applet security but i haven't yet figured it out.
    For example when i call the getAppletContext() method from a JApplet i get an java.security.AccessControlException ... .Thanks

    I must correct myself now :).
    The getAppletContext() method does work with JApplets too.Still , i have problems with the Live connection alternative.It seems that it by importing the netscape.javascript package i get the security eror that i mention above...

  • Opening new browser window from View Library links

    On some of the documentation pages, e.g. http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/ias.html , a new browser window is opened using target=new_win in the HTML code. This window will be re-used if the user goes back and clicks on another, similar link. It's better to use target=_blank for this purpose, because that would ensure that a new browser window is opened every time.

    You would have to a) swap the image, and b) expose a
    previously hidden layer
    that superimposes the image with a transparent GIF on which
    the onClick
    behavior has been applied.

  • CS4 - Difference in height on "Open New Browser Window" from Safari to IE?

    I have put a site together and have some links that are set to "Open New Window" and have given them the appropriate sizing and on Safari Mac they show correctly but on Windows IE they show short. Is there a difference in the height dimension on Windows platform or IE in particular? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    jodmcc49

    You are going to have to post a link to the page in question.  If you set something to be a specific height and width in pixels it will be the same in both screens.

  • How do I open a new browser window from Flash

    I wish to open a new browser window from Flash and when the new window closes to return to the location from whence I started.
    ThomasChen

    The command to open a new window would be the "_blank" part of a command to link to a web page in the code below.
    navigateToURL(new URLRequest("http://www.anothersite.com", "_blank"));
    As far as the new window closing and getting back to where you were in the original window, I don't understand where that original window might have gone to... You should be wherever you last left it.

  • How can I open a new browser window from UIX?

    I need to open a new browser window from an event handler. How that can be done? HELP!
    Thanks!
    Martin Patrici

    HTML doesn't really let you do this on the server side; the client is in charge
    of creating new windows, not the server.
    If you know that clicking a certain link/button, etc. will always raise a new window,
    then you should use Javascript or "targetFrame" accordingly.
    If the decision will only be made on the server side, then you could reload the current
    window, only this time use an "onLoad" on the <body> to raise a window.

  • New browser window from uix

    How can I open a new browser window from an event handler in UIX?
    Thanks in advance,
    Martmn Patrici

    I just tried your suggestion. Unfortunately, it did not work. Here's the UIX code I used:
    <tableSelection>
    <singleSelection model="${bindings.MPOOrdersView1Iterator}" text="Select">
    <primaryClientAction>
    <firePartialAction targets="_uixState MplistsView11" source="MPOOrdersView10" event="select"/>
    </primaryClientAction>
    <contents>
    <submitButton formName="mlrhomeform" text="Print Lists" event="print" />
    <submitButton text="View Merge Reports" event="mergerpts" formName="mlrhomeform" targetFrame="_blank"/>
    </contents>
    </singleSelection>
    </tableSelection>
    The only difference from the original code is the addition of the targetFrame="_blank" in the submitButton.
    It had no effect. My redirected page showed up in the same browser window. This left me with an expired page when I press the Back button on the browser.
    My assumption is the response.sendRedirect() call wipes out the targetFrame setting.
    Does anyone know how the browser (Internet Explorer in this case) actually gets notified to open a new window? There's got to be something that the targetFrame="_blank" sets up to cause it.
    I know that Netscape supports a "Window-target:" header, but unfortunately IE doesn't. Is there some "standard" header that I can put in a response.addHeader() call that would tell all browsers to open a new window?
    Of course, a UIX solution would be preferrable!
    Any other ideas?

  • Open new browser window in ADF Task Flow

    Hello to everyone,
    I have a question for those who have an experience in this area.
    So, I use ADF Task Flow model and my question is how can I open a new browser window from the task flow model?
    A know to use the abbreviation "dialog:" in navigation rules, but it opens just modal dialog.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Frank,
    Thanks for your responce. I appreciated it.
    I've made what you told me to do and it works perfectly with unbounded task flow. But when I try to use bounded task flow in runtime i've had this error:
    oracle.adf.controller.ControllerException: ADFC-02001: ADF Controller cannot find '/WEB-INF/response-flow-definition'.

         at oracle.adf.controller.internal.metadata.MetadataService.getTaskFlowDefinition(MetadataService.java:214)
    Here is my code:
    HashMap<String, Object> params = new HashMap<String, Object>();
    String taskflowId="RespEntity";
    String taskflowDocument="WEB-INF/response-flow-definition";
    String taskflowURL = ControllerContext.getInstance().getTaskFlowURL(false,new TaskFlowId(taskflowDocument,taskflowId), params);
    launchWindow(taskflowURL,true);
    So, do you know where I should put or register the definition of my bounded task flow "response-flow-definition.xml" ?

  • Open new browser window without bookmark

    when i open a new browser window (from a bookmark or using cnt N) it opens with the list of my bookmarks along the left side of the screen forcing me to x out of the bookmark list so i can have a full browser window page.
    how can i get new pages to open without the list of bookmarks on the left side of the screen?
    thanks,
    todd

    You can create a javascript to window.open having toobar, menubar or statusbar=0. The page content can be customized per need. Call this javascript from a link or button click using javascript:popup_window();
    For example,
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
    function popup_window()
    w = window.open("", "Window", "width=320,height=400,status=0,toolbar=0,menubar=0");
    w.document.write('<html><head><title>Help Window</title>');
    w.document.write('</head><body>');
    w.document.write('<div><font face="Arial" size="2">This is help page.');
    w.document.write('</font></div><p>');
    w.document.write('<div><font face="Arial" size="1"><a href="javascript:window.close();">Close This Window</a></font></div><p>');
    w.document.write('</body></html>');
    </script>Ittichai

  • Opening new browser window

    Hi,
    this piece of code use to work for opening a new browser, but now it has problem in opening browser window. There is no exception thrown, can anyone has suggestion whats wrong in this. I am using JRE1.3. I have a feeling that something is conflicting with IE (I tried on 5.0,5.5,6.0)
    thanks
    Syed
    try
    URL url = new URL(urlString);
    applet.getAppletContext().showDocument(url, "_blank");
    } // End of Try
    catch(MalformedURLException e)
    logs("Exception in opening new browser window: " + e);
    } // End of Catch

    Same here.
    Worked fine under IE5.x to IE6, JRE 1.3.x to 1.4. OS used were W2k and WinXP, no prob here.
    Now on some PCs the windows don't pop up anymore. No exception, no indicator of what's going wrong.
    Any hints?

  • Any way to open new browser window without using image maps?

    Is there any way to open new browser window without using image maps? My code works fine in Firefox, but not in IE. There are 2 problems in IE: 1st is that the thumbnail images move up within their own borders & 2nd that when you click on an image it does open up a new browser window, but also redirects to the index page (in this case it's just a placeholder index page - the new one I've called index_new.html for the time being).
    Here is the link:
    http://www.susieharperdesigns.com/gallery_beads.html
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Your missing a value on the HREF.  In your code you have this:
    <area shape="rect" coords="-24,-9,106,144" href=" " onclick="MM_openBrWindow('gallery_bead1.html','','width=255,height=360')" />
    </map></div>
    and it should be this:
    <area shape="rect" coords="-24,-9,106,144" href="javascript:void()" onclick="MM_openBrWindow('gallery_bead1.html','','width=255,height=360')" />
    </map></div>
    If you fix the code on all your beads, it should work.

  • Conditionally opening a new browser window from a JSP page

    When the user clicks on a button in my JSP page, I'd like to launch a new browser and display certain things in that browser window while leaving the original browser window open. The new browser should only be displayed if certain conditions are met.
    My thought was to invoke a javascript method in 'onLoad' which would determine if the new window needs to be launched.
    This is kinda what my page looks like:
    <jsp:root version="1.2" ................>
        <jsp:directive.page import="java.util.*, com.test.Configuration" contentType="text/html;charset=UTF-8" pageEncoding="UTF-8"/>
        <f:view>
         <ui:body binding="#{Page1.body1}" id="body1" onLoad="launchWindow();">
         </ui:body>
       </f:view>
       <script type="text/javascript">
            function launchWindow(){
             if (Configuration.openWindow()) {
              window.open("hello.jsp", "newWindow", 'toolbar,width=400,height=400');
        </script>
    </jsp:root>
    My problem is that the call to "Configuration.openWindow()" does not resolve correctly. If I remove that call and simply make a call to "window.open()" all works. But once I put the condition in, nothing happens. I do not see an exception in my browser window but a new browser window does not open.
    Is my syntax correct. Can I make a call to the static method 'openWindow()' in my class 'Configuration.java'.
    I posted this same query on the JSF forum but received now replies. My question is more suited to the JSP forum and hence I'm posting this question here.
    thanks,
    tsc

    I have made some changes so that I do not directly access the 'Configuration' class in my javascript.
    I have a hidden field on my form and when the user clicks the button, in my back bean, I set a value for the hidden field. In the javascript function 'launchWindow()' I check if a value has been set for the hidden field and if yes, I open a new window.
    <ui:body binding="#{Page1.body1}" id="body1" onLoad="launchWindow(document.forms[0]);">
    <h:inputText id="hiddenField" value="#{formBean.hiddenValue}" />
    <script type="text/javascript">
            function launchWindow(form){
                alert("in lw");
                var test = form["form1:hiddenField"].value;
                alert("got test");
                if (test !=  "")
                    window.open("hello.jsp", "newWindow", 'toolbar,width=400,height=400');
                alert ("done test");
    </script>When my page is first loaded, the launchWindow() is called and all the alerts popup as expected.
    When I click on the button (the back bean sets the value on the hidden field), my page is reloaded but this time its blank.
    Any ideas as to why this maybe the case?
    thanks,
    tsc
