Opening new word document brings up minimized documents

Hi,
Opening a new word document, brings up minimized documents.
This is a long time issue! Which i would rather not have it happen. It's annoying!
Has anybody found a solution for it?

Hi,
I'm not sure about the symptom yet, do you mean when you create a new document, the Word window becomes minimized? If I'm wrong, please provide detailed reproduce steps so that I can do more investigation.
I also need to confirm whether the issue persists when we open Word in Safe Mode:
Press Win + R, type "winword.exe /safe" in the blank box, press Enter, then Word will start in Safe Mode with no add-in loaded. Check if the issue persists.

    I am changing from Word to Pages. I have created my custom template with all my styles etc and that is what comes up when I go for a New Document. Fine. How do I get it to use the same Custom Template when I use Pages to open a Word document?

    The template is a document in itself, it is not applied to an existing document whether it is a Pages document or a Word document converted to a Pages document.
    You would need to either copy and paste content, using existing styles, or apply the styles to the converted Word document.
    You can Import the Styles from an existing document and those imported Styles can be used to override the current document's styles:
    Menu > Format > Import Styles
    The process is simplified if the styles use the same names, otherwise you will need to delete the style you don't want and replace it with the one that you do want when asked, then the substitution is pretty straightforward.

    I recently updated to the OSX 10.8.3 Operating Sistem.  I am writing a book and now cannot open any word document I've created with the old system.  Could not find a newer version of the Microsoft Word Processing Program.  Is Pages the next thing? Can I recover my documents?  How?

    I'm in the same boat: new to OS X and Mac, and in the middle of a book. I switched because I heard about the the ease of using Mac, but so far, for me, it's been a nightmare. I bought 2011 Office Mac and hate everything about it, the most recent being the inability to open or cut or paste any of my original word files. I understand that this could have easily been done with earlier versions, but not Mountain Lion (which I learned is what OSX is.) Since I work with language, I am amazed at the assumptions of the Apple community. It helps to use common language and explain even the basics.
    So all the helpful hints to use the latest version of Office Mac are to no avail. Now what?

  • Microsoft Office Pro plus 2013 installation wizard pops up everytime I open a Word document or a new page.

    Microsoft Office Pro plus 2013 installation wizard pops up everytime I open a Word document or a new page.  I realize that other people have the same problem.  However no answer has been found to stop this problem.  I wonder if there is a
    way.  Hope someone is able to tell me and the others.

    Hi,
    By the installation wizard, do you mean the First Run screen? If yes, please follow the steps below to disable it:
    STEP ONE: If you have not already, download the Office 2013 Administrative Template files. These can be downloaded from
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35554
    STEP TWO: Copy the ADMX files to %systemroot%\PolicyDefinitions and the ADML files to the language specific folder (such as en-us) under %systemroot%\PolicyDefinitions.
    STEP THREE: Using the Group Policy Management Editor go to User Configuration | Administrative Templates | Microsoft Office 2013 | First Run |
    STEP FOUR: Set the Disable First Run Movie to Enabled and the Disable Office First Run on application boot to Enabled
    Please check the result then.

I successed to create a new CNiWordDocument with the CNiWordApplication CreateDocument() function. But when using the OpenDocument() I have error message about violation error. Must I create another objet before calling the OpenDocument() function? Is it possible to have an example of code to open a word document?

    I tried the following code to open a doc file in an MFC application.

    Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folders. In OS X 10.9 there are two sandboxes, while in 10.8 there is only one. If you're running a version older than 10.8, this comment isn't applicable.
    Back up all data.
    Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
    Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
              Services ▹ Reveal
    from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder—not just its contents—to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
    Log out and log back in. Launch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window.
    This action will delete any custom Mail stationery that you have created. If you want to preserve it, ask for instructions.
    If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.MailServiceAgent
    Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
    *If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
    from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Can't open a Word document

    I've been sent some word documents via email and I can't open them. My computer says that Word 2010 is not installed on my computer. It is. It came with my computer. This makes no sense. Can anyone offer an explanation?

    Hi,
    Did you download the Word files to local disk and open them? Which operation system and Office version did you use? Were only the documents which sent via email
    occurred the issue? Could open a new local file correctly?
    Please try to open a new Word document, and drag the them into it. If it works fine, I recommend we could re-create the file type association.  Right click the Word file> Open with> Select Word.
    Please try run your Word in safe mode, and drag them into it. (type
    winword.exe /safe in the Run box)
    Repair Office suits.

  • Adobe reader is not opening my word document stating that it is an unsupported document??????

    I am having difficulty opening a word document that my instructor has attached to my Oncourse (student page) online. I have Adobe reader and Microsoft Office. Every time I try to open a word document a message box pops up from Adobe Reader stating that it cannot open it because it is either an unsupported file or it was damaged??????????

    Originally I was unable to open a document without getting a pop up screen from Adobe stating that Adobe was unable to open the doc because it was either an unsupported file or because it was damaged.
    I tried opening it up as the link you sent me directed me to, however I was unable to even follow step one because it did not gice me ANY of the options.
    My friend was trying to "fix" it last night and now it is doing something completely different. Now, when I try to open a document it opens a message box that reads, C:\Users\Owner\Downloads\Ch1pos(3).pptx is not a valid Win32 application???????
    I have  4 classes and 3 of my instructors had sent attachments to my Oncourse and or Canvas page and I have been unable to open their attachments since I have gotten my computer back from having a new harddrive put in. My boyfriend declined their offer to add Office because his mother has the disc. I installed Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007, I have Adobe Cloud (which I am not sure I even need), Adobe Digital Editions 3.0 (also not sure I even need), Adobe Reader XI (11.0.08- also not sure I need), Adobe Shockwave Player 12.1 (not sure I need). .....

  • Opening a word document in Java

    HI
    I am new to java. I am trying to open a word document when user press the button. I just want to open the document that exists on my computer. I have tried using exec() method of Runtime class. But I was not succeed. Here the code that I have used.
    public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent ae)     {
         String str = ae.getActionCommand();
         if(str.equals("Search")){
              Runtime r = Runtime.getRuntime();
              Process p = null;
              try{
                   p = r.exec("C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Office\\OFFICE11\\WINWORD.exe C:\\Resume\\coverletter.doc");
              }catch (IOException e){
                   System.out.println("Error");
    repaint();
    Here "Search" is th name of Button.
    So if anyone have a solution please help me regarding to this.
    Thank you

    Use java.awt.Desktop (available since Java 6), it provides a .open() method that will open any file with the users associated application (so no dangerous hardcoding of application paths necessary).
    If you insist on using Runtime.exec, then you must read [When Runtime.exec() wont|http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/jw-12-2000/jw-1229-traps.html].

  • Opening PC WORd documents with AW

    I am new IMAC user. Unfortunately salesman (Best Buy) told me that a word processor and spread sheet were part of the software package! I want to buy AW (sounds like a great program and my son loves it), but need to know how to open PC Word documents from email. Will I be able to do this?
    Thanks.

    As Roger said, AppleWorks may not open newer Word & Excel files, from a PC or Mac. In the past, AppleWorks 6 was able to open almost all Word & Excel documents, it is not able to open those saved with newer versions of either Mac or PC application. The Office translators in AppleWorks were introduced in late 2000 or early 2001 & have not been updated. In the meantime, Microsoft has made significant changes in the file formats in the last year or two that AppleWorks can't open them any more. AppleWorks 6 was released in March, 2000, & hasn't even had any kind of update since January, 2004.

    Hi Manu,
    Follow these steps:
    1. Create CONTEXT with 2 attributes - UPLOAD & SHOW of type XSTRING.
    2. Add a "UPLOAD" element on the layout of screen & map it with UPLOAD attribute of context.
    3. Then Add a "OFFICE CONTROL" on the same screen & map it with the SHOW attribute of context..
    4. Add a BUTTON for Show Document/Open Document.
    5. Add 2 attrubutes in ATTRIBUTES tab of the dynpro application:
            i) DOCUMENT type IF_IOS_DOCUMENT
           ii) FACTORY    type IF_IOS_FACTORY
    6. On method of that button (SHOW)...enter the following code:
    DATA : refexp TYPE REF TO cx_ios_exception.
    IF wd_this->document IS INITIAL.
        wd_this->factory->get_document_proxy( IMPORTING proxy = wd_this->document  ).
        ASSERT ID sios_demo CONDITION wd_this->document IS BOUND.
      ENDIF.
      wd_this->document->opendocument( ).
    read context node
    DATA:
        node_file_upload                    TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_node,
        elem_file_upload                    TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_element,
        stru_file_upload                    TYPE if_second=>element_file_upload .
    navigate from <CONTEXT> to <FILE_UPLOAD> via lead selection
      node_file_upload = wd_context->get_child_node( name = if_second=>wdctx_file_upload ).
    get element via lead selection
      elem_file_upload = node_file_upload->get_element(  ).
    get all declared attributes
      elem_file_upload->get_static_attributes(
        IMPORTING
          static_attributes = stru_file_upload ).
      stru_file_upload-show = stru_file_upload-upload.
    set all declared attributes
      elem_file_upload->set_static_attributes(
        EXPORTING
          static_attributes = stru_file_upload ).
    7. Now add the following code to the WDDOMODIFYVIEW method (default method)
      DATA:
          office TYPE REF TO cl_wd_view_element.
    get the office control
      office ?= view->get_element( 'OFFICE' ).
      ASSERT ID sios_demo CONDITION  office IS BOUND.
    get the IOS interface
      wd_this->factory ?= office->_method_handler.
      ASSERT ID sios_demo CONDITION wd_this->factory IS BOUND.
    8. Run the application & enter a text file of word format in the File Upload.
    9. Press show button & it will display the code of that word file.
    Plz ask any queries if you face any problem doing the above code.
    & dont forget to mark Points.
