Opening order in Photoshop CS2

I often export multiple photos from iPhoto to the desktop to open later in PS for compilation/editing. When I select a bunch of photos and open them at one in PS they open in a seemingly random order. I would think that they'd tile according to name. Do they open in an order that I don't recognize? Is there a way I can get them to open and tile according to file name?
Steve

Sounds like the problem is the result of a bizarre Finder glitch, which I personally find very annoying, wherein the only reliable way to copy stuff in alphanumeric order, or open in Preview or make a Slideshow, is first have the files in Column view. Icon view or list view results in a randomization of the selected files. So export your files to a folder on the Desktop, then open the folder and put it in Column view, select all and then open in PS. That might do it.

  • Trouble Opening Illustrator and Photoshop CS2??

When opening Adobe Illustrator CS2 I receive a Windows Box showing Adobe Illustrator: Illustrator.exe - Application Error The instruction at "0x003c197d" referenced memory at "0x000000000". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program.
I am also having trouble accessing Adobe Photoshop CS2. When I open the program it simply stays in one sequence as a loop and does not completely open.

    32 bit Windows XP
I also tried uninstalling and re-installing the full program and it still has the same problem.
I even checked my ram by moving a single memory card from one slot to the next to see if that was the problem but still the same error messages.

What exactly is happening when you say you there are problems in opening images?
Have you tried cntrl + click on the the photo icon and then checking the options on "Open with..."
When you download the images do they have any kind of suffix eg .jpg  or .tiff  etc?

  • Why won't my Photoshop CS2 still open after installing CS4?

    Hi,
I've just installed CS4 Design standard on my PC - alongside my existing CS2 installation, because I didn't want to uninstall CS2 until I'd spent time getting used to CS4.
However, when I try to open images with Photoshop CS2, it's almost impossible to do so - CS4 Photoshop opens up instead. If I try to open an image using Bridge CS2, the only option is to open it with PS-CS4. Alternatively, if I right-click on the image in Windows Explorer and select 'Open with', my only option is PS-CS4 (Even if I select Browse at this point and navigate to the PS-CS2 exe, it still insists on opening PS-CS4.)
The only way I can successfully open images in PS-CS2 is to open the application first, using the shortcut in the Start menu or Quick Launch, and then I have to use File>Open to open the image.
Interestingly, I have no problems with InDesign - yes, ID-CS4 is the default if I double-click an ID file, but I can choose to use ID-CS2 by right clicking and selecting 'Open with'. Same goes for Illustrator.
Has anyone else had this problem with Photoshop CS2 and been able to work around it?
    Thanks,
    Steven

  • Open Image Size 50% instead of 33% Photoshop CS2

When I open images in Photoshop CS2 they open at 33%. As I have a 19" screen and edit 100's of images a day I would like to change the "default" to open the images at 50% instead. Occasionally they open at 50% automatically but I don't know what I've done to make it happen. Can anyone help?

Ok, this is what you need to do.
    1. Create a new action and when you are recording that action go to the
flyout menu for the actions palette and choose insert menu item. Then go to
the view menu and choose actual pixels. Stop recording. Basically you just
created an action that zooms your image to 100%.
    2. Go to the file menu and choose Scripts and then Scripts Event Manager.
Choose the option to have the action start when you open a document, then
choose your action set and then the action you just made to zoom the
document to 100%, click on the add button.
Now anytime you load a new document it will zoom to 100%.

  • Premiere pro v2 to photoshop CS2 file - help?

Yesterday I wanted to see if I could edit the *.avi video clip in Photoshop CS2 - so in Premiere, I tried exporting this .avi clip as a quick time movie file which I then tried to open in my photoshop CS2, but it would not even open.
How do I save an .avi video clip in PPro so I can open and edit (like cut out a wall from a room, and put a big stained glass window in place where the wall had been, for example), and then save it so I can 1) edit it in After Effects (by adding moving characters), 2) export it so it will import back into PPro, render and run smoothly when viewed in the Source or Program monitors?
I also d/l the free PFx Film Machine, but I'm not too sure what it does? I think it lets me open quick time files in photoshop as a sequence of still images for editing in PS?
Also, I haven't yet installed this Film Strip, not sure how to install it?
    Thanks in advance.

Bill, Ann, after we got home from the picnic last night I took the time to read chapter 27 "fun with filmstrips" in the newly arrived book, "photoshop for digital video," and earlier today I went to the local Barnes & Noble cafe with my laptop and I cropped a ~2 second video sequence of the *.flm file (it had the wordpad icon) in PPro that I was having trouble opening in PS, saved it after cropping it, then I exported again as a new *.flm sequence, exited PPro, started up PS, then went to Browse, located the new file, > Open, and it opened as a double-columned (with a L column of a sequence and a R column of sequences). I then started editing all the sequences the left column, editing out say, a stray person that I did not want in the finished project, saved the file as a *.flmroj while still working on it in PS. Then I gropued all of the edits into one folder, duplicated it and tried to move the copied (this entire filmstrip was taken with the same angle/perspective in both L & R columns) folder onto the right column, but the layers (edits) in the R column had the individual layer (going frame by frame) boarders (white boarder separating one frame from the next frame) off-center, unlike the way they were lined up perfectly in the L column.
How to I get the boarders of these edits to line up perfectly in the R column like they do in the L column?
This file (since working on it at the cafe and saving it) now has a PS file-association icon. I'm going to do more background edits on each frame later in PS.
What does *.flmroj mean? What application does it open with after all of the background edits are finished and if I'd like to add an angel to this sequence that moves according to the sequence (such as giving someone a book that the angel pulled out of his back pocket for example)?
Did I just solve a software problem (by getting the *.flm file to open in PS) today without any errors?
Apparently when I kept getting these errors, that flm file was just too big for my system's OS to load it into RAM to in order to open it/display it onscreen, altough I have enough RAM to save the edits rather quickly in PS (this means the application writes the new data into this file's hard drive location, thus updating a whole string of binary digits on the file's hard drive location).

  • Can't open .NEF files in Photoshop CS2

Heres the deal: I've updated and installed my camera raw in Photoshop CS2, so I have the latest version of it (ACR 3.7). I still can not open my .NEF files in Photoshop and when I view the files from Bridge it shows the generic thumbnail image.
    Information that might help:
    PS Version: Photoshop CS2
    ACR Version: Camera Raw 3.7
    Camera: Nikon D60
    Operating Sys: Mac OSX
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The D60 was not supported in ACR 3.7.  In fact, that version was the first to support the D40.  You will have to use the latest version of the DNG converter to convert your raw images to DNG.  Then you can open those files in ACR 3.7.

  • Lightroom won't open an image in Photoshop CS2

I have Photoshop 1.1 on a PC running Windows XP. I can't open a Lightroom image in Photoshop CS2 through the "photo" menu because the menu selection to open an image in Photoshop is dimmed. Also in "Preferences" in the "external editors" tab it says "Photoshop not found." My Photoshop is on the same drive as Lightroom. Am I wrong in assuming LR should open an image in CS2?
In a related matter I opened a Photoshop customer support case about this, but did not receive a reply. Is this typical of Adobe? Isn't this the kind of question they should answer even without a paid support plan?

    Richard,
What I did when faced with a similar situation was to go to Control Panel, and select Add or Remove Programs, then select Uninstall or Change for Adobe Photoshop CS2, then when prompted whether to Uninstall or Repair, choose Repair. This will fixup all the registry entries that appare to be missing from your system.
    Works for me at least.

  • CAN NOT OPEN  CANON EOS20D  RAW FILE IN PHOTOSHOP CS2

I had Photoshop CS2 installed on my PC some years ago and could open my raw files from my canon eos 20d. I changed the hard drives in my pc to solid state drives and had to reinstall photoshop cs2. I could not activate photoshop as it was too old a version so I had to download from adobe website with their activation code. Now, I can not open any of my canon eos 20d files. I have taken some now photos just a few days ago and the problem still arises. I get the message that it does not recognise this type of file. Any ideas?

You downloaded, extracted (unzipped) the Camera_Raw_3_7.zip and copied/moved the Camera Raw.8bi to
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS2 (windows 64 bit system)
    or

  • Photoshop cs2 crashes and reboot windows xp without any error message when I try to open a file

    Hi,
I downloaded the trial version (assessment for thirty days) of Adobe Photoshop cs2. Once installed the trial version, the program works correctly, except for a basic function: to open files and modify them. Any image files (jpeg-gif-png-tiff-bmp-psd) on press command FILE>OPEN, or Ctrl+O, to open it, sends the system in crash, and without any warning message, send to "restart" the operating system, in my case , windows xp.
I use also photoshop cs, and it works correctly and allows to open file image also; but not with cs2.
    What's the problem?

The error message I see in a Event Viewer after the program crashed is the following:
    Event Type: Error
    Event Source: Userenv
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 1041
    Date: 22/03/2009

I am using a Photoshop cs2, and I wonder if it is possible to keep the settings of the guidelines when closing an image, with the actual document ? It would be nice to have the guidelines locked down, I find it than when opening the same or another image, the guidelines are not locked, it is annoying to have to lock them down again. and it would actually be nice, to ba able to give specific directions when placing the guidelines. Thanks

Then why are the guides unlocked when I reopen a document that I saved with the guides locked ?
    Thanks.

  • Photoshop CS2 won't let me open?

I received Photoshop CS2 from Adobe because they shut down the CS server, killing my program. I installed the program using their serial number and when I open it, it says the serial number was not installed and then when I push 'ok' it shuts down. How do I fix this

Hi there! Because the forum you originally posted in is for beginners trying to learn the basics of Photoshop, I moved your question to the Downloading, Installing, Setting Up forum, where you'll get more specialized help.

Rosetta can have a 2GB RAM "tax" to manage PowerPC code as well as how that affects performance.
I think real world performance shows both statements to be wrong; consider this:
If that were the case, how come Apple does not include that information in its Snow Leopard installation requirements, since Rosetta is an optional install?
Also, running a PowerPC app on an 2011 i7 Mac with Snow Leopard will run faster than running that PowerPC app on a PowerPC Mac.

  • I have Adobe Photoshop CS2 and it closes down every time I open it.

I have Adobe Photoshop CS2 and it closes down every time I open it with the following error: "Photoshop Quit Unexpectedly". Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot this?

The first question is have you used this version on this computer with the operating system you have now. The issue might be (if you are on a Mac) that CS2 was a Power PC application and you have upgraded to a new computer with an Intel processor. CS2 will not work on an Intel processor with system (I think) OSX.6 or greater.
If you have used this release on this computer with the same OS, than try deleting the preferences by holding down the Comand/Control-Option-Shift keys when starting the application. You will get a message asking if you want to delete the preferences, say yes.
Let me know if any of these work.

  • After downloading & installing application of adobe creative suite cs2 version 6,  screen of adobe photoshop cs2 is not opened by clicking icon . message is giving " ausba4.dll " was not present. Please guide me.?

I have downloaded & installed adobe creative suit cs2 version 6 but when I click the icon of adobe photoshop in desktop it is not opened & giving message " this application has failed to start because " ausba4.dll " was not found. reinstalling of the application may fix the problem " I have reinstall & opened many times but even then it is not opened. Please guide me accordingly.

I'd try disabling the Twain_32.8BA plugin in
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS2\Plug-Ins\Import-Export
You can disable the plugin by putting an ~ (tilde) in front of the name or moving the plugin to your desktop.
Then try photoshop cs2 and see if you still get the error message.
I suspect the error has to do with your scanner driver, since photoshop cs2 does not have an ausba4.dll
