Opening Pdf Attachments From outlook 2010

Good day I'm having problems with a user where he has to click a pdf attachement multiple times before it will open and the adobe proccess stays open after the document is closed so after a while there are like 20 adobe processes open.
Please advise on a solution as this is extreamly urgent.
The user uses Office 2010 and windows 7 64bit
Thanks

Hi Michael
The thing is the first time you double click the attachment nothing happens the second it will open and even after closing adobe reader the process will stay open and does not close so after a while it keeps getting slower and slower.
I have tried reinstalling Adobe multiple times does not help i have also disabled the start-up screen via the registry setting still the same problem.
Thanks in advance for the help

  • Cannot print .pdf attachments in Outlook 2010 on local usb printer using the lastest Adobe Reader

We can't print pdf attachments from Outlook 2010 on a users local printer via usb with the latest Adobe Reader but it can print to a network copier. We can print from the local printer emails, webpages, regular pdf's on the hard drive.
    Please advise and thanks.

What is the behavior that you are seeing? Are you getting some error or is it simply failing to print with Reader 10.1.2.

When doing a quick print with a right click on the pdf attachment, it will print.
Also, please let me know that if a simple Right Click > Print operation is working, then what exactly is the operation that is failing.

  • Can´t open pdf attachment in Outlook 2010 after inst. Reader X

    Hi!
Today I updated Reader from 9 to 10.1.2 - I did not face any problems with the installation.
But now I can not open any pdf attachment in Outlook 2010 (Reader opens and closes immediately) if Reader X is not running.
When the Reader is allready running I can open the files without problems.
When I save the file on my desctop I can also open it - also if reader is not allready running.
I un- and reinstalled the reader fiew times, also tried the repair tool - nothing helped.
I receive a lot of pdf Files - any help would be great.

Did you try this?  It worked for me.

    Open up Adobe Reader X
On the Toolbar Menu go to Edit > Preferences

Untick “Enable Protected Mode at Startup”
If asked if sure, click Yes and then Ok.
Now close Adobe Reader X and try opening the PDF again.

  • Rundll32 error when opening a PDF attachment from Outlook 2010

The computer is a 32 bit Win7.  Outlook is 2010 for business.  Everything was working fine until 4 days ago.  Now have to save the pdf to the desktop and open it from there.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

The rundll32 error seems to have disappeared.  Until this morning I had both this error and the rundll32.  All other types of docs open fine.  This one will open if saved to the desktop first, but not from Outlook.

  • Opening PDF attachments in Outlook 2003 with Adobe 8.1

Everytime I attempt to open a Pdf file that is attached to an e-mail, It opens in Excel, even though it is not an excel spreadsheet.

The can only open it on their machine if they save the pdf attachment after renaming it. All computers on the network have the latest Outlook 2003 updates, so it puzzles me that only three end users with the same version of Outlook 2003, with the same updates, are not able to view the attachment from Outlook, but the other users can. Also, why do those three end users have to rename the file if the save it to the their computer to be able to view it, but no one else has to. And, it is not every pdf attachment either, just some from certain people that send them an e-mail. Really puzzling issue that I need to get resolved...

Based on this error, please try the following steps to solve this issue:
Open the EMC 2010 and browse to the Toolbox, double-click on the Public Folder Management console.
In the tree navigate to System Public Folders > OFFLINE ADDRESS BOOK.

  • Can't open pdf attachments from Mail

When I'm in Mail and try to open or save to my computer and then open a pdf in Preview, I get an error message  -
"The file “Proposal to Seattle City Light - Wolverine Study 6Mar2012.pdf” could not be opened.  It may be damaged or use a file format that Preview doesn’t recognize."
This happens with all pdfs in Mail.  However, if I go to email account on the Internet and download the pdf it opens no problem. This is a new problem, though I can't say if it started happening as soon as I upgraded to Lion or if it happened sometime after (definitely not before).
    Thanks!

I think maybe I wasn't completely clear in my reply to your original message.
I logged into my gmail account online and sent myself a pdf. I then retrieved that message with Mail and the pdf opened with no issues. It doesn't seem like that would be an issue with my mail service provider, because my pdf came through no problem, but those sent from others (all of whom I think are using Windows machines and hence Acrobat) will not open.
I'm going to see if I can get someone using a Mac and someone I know for sure is using a PC to send my pdfs and see what happens.

  • Pdf attachments from Outlook calendar

I synchronize manually. I just noticed that a pdf attachment to my Outlook calendar will not sychronize as a readable attachment on my Blackberry calendar. It saysthere is a pdf file there but only the heading and not the attachment. This is handy when travelling so that I can attach my flight confirmation.
    Any help is appreciated....Thx

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
If your Curve is like most BB's, then PDF's are not natively viewble on it. When PDF's come in as an email attachment, they are viewable via the email attachment service. But all other means require a bit of additional software on the device. The To-Go apps that come free with most BB's do not handle PDF's...the $$$ premium edition does handle them. Plus there are other PDF add-ons (BeamReader?) that are cheaper (so I hear) that also handle PDFs.
Basically, since it's a Calendar attachment, the email attachment service is not invoked -- hence it is unviewable without something added.
    Hope that heps!

  • Open PDF attachments from links in PDF

I've attached four files ( 2 images + 2 Matlab files) to a PDF document with Adobe Acrobat XI Pro.
Now I want to create a link within the PDF to open each attachment, in order to make it possible for the reader to open these files while reading the PDF.
Currently, I only manage to create links to the files on my personal computer, and not the ones attached to the PDF.
Who can help me? Thanks already.

You can use the following code to launch a file attached to a PDF:
    this.exportDataObject({ cName: "Full_Name_Of_File_Goes_Here.XXX", nLaunch: 2 });

    Hi,
First, try to start Outlook in safe mode to see if it works fine.
If it works fine in safe mode, disable the add-ins you have in  File > Options > Add-ins.
Second, try to clear out the Outlook Temporary items.
    1. Locate the Outlook Temporary Items folder by opening the Registry and
    locating
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Security\OutlookSecureTempFolder
    2. Navigate to the value of this Key. It should be something like:
    %USERPROFILE%\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.Outlook\
    3. Quit Outlook
    4. Delete the contents of the folder
    5. Launch Outlook
    Hope it helps.
Had this same problem.  End of key was like "CK2219B0\".  Deleted this small portion, saved registry, and restarted Outlook.  .wav files executing fine now!  Musta been some kind of update glitch cause it worked up to a day or
so back and then I had this problem.  Thanks!!!

  • Can Not Open PDF Attachments

I can not open PDF attachments from outlook 2010. I am running windows 8  and using Adobe version 11.0.2  If I save the file to desktop, then it will allow me to open it and print it.
Thanks in advance for yor help.
the error says it can not open the file because it is unsupported or corrupt.

If you can't open the attachment, have your client/ customer or whatever fix their defective copy of Outlook and send real mail attachments not TNEF encoded rubbish. They are spewing defective email every time they click send on a mail with an attachment.

  • Problems opening attachments from outlook

This week I have been unable to open attachments from Outlook 2010. I use Firefox as my browser and for some reason when I click on an attachment it is downloaded into Firefox. This has only just started to happen. If I try to open a PDF document I would
expect it to just open as a PDF rather than a Firefox download. How can I resolve this issue?

    Hi Tweek,
Might be you are working with disabled attachment preview option. Follow the given path and turn on it:
File >> Options >> Trust Center >> Trust Center Settings (under Microsoft Outlook Trust Center) >> Attachment Handling
If the above solution does not help, then change the default program for opening attachment. Make a right click on the PDF Document and select
“Open With” option. Choose the default program and set it to as
“Always the selected program to open this kind of file”.

  • 3138 SQL error opening sqlite db file from Outlook 2010 as attachment

Has anyone of you tried sending the sqlite db file thru e-mail and then open the file from Outlook 2010?
I have an air app that can be opened by doubleclicking the sqlite database file (invoke event). The file is sent via e-mail from the app itself, so another user can run the app directly from their e-mail client once he receives the db. Now everything works fine unless you use Outlook 2010 - when I open it I get an sql error 3138 - do you know what can be the problem? Everything is fine when I'm using different e-mail client (the same e-mail account, just other client) like Outlook 2003 or Thunderbird or Opera. I'm guessing Outlook 2010 is using some kind of protection to attachments that is making the file not understandable by the app, but Microsoft seems to ignore my e-mails sent to them with the same question. The db file is not encrypted if that changes anything and saving the file from outlook to desktop and then running does not help. When I do the same using Outlook 2003 everything works as it should, but unfortunatelly my customer upgraded to 2010 :/ Any ideas would be much appreciated.

This looks like a new behavior of Outlook 2010 and isn't specific to PDFs. You will need to "save as" the document. There is a thread at Microsoft forums about this with some possible workarounds:
