Opening pdf attachments in Entourage

How can I set the opening of pdf file attachments in Entourage to Acrobat instead of Preview?

Are you including the .jpg file extension with all attached files and what are you using for the attachment encoding selection available with Entourage?
At the menu bar go to Entourage > Preferences > Compose.
Under Attachments at Encode for:, you should use Any Computer (AppleDouble) or Windows (MIME/Base 64).

I have discovered a conflict between Entourage and Leopard and, apparently, Apple is aware of it though I can find no mention of it anywhere. If reading this saves you the hours I have spent trying to fix the problem, then it will be worthwhile. Basically, when viewing pdf attachments within Entourage emails you may find text impossible to read as the fonts you were expecting to see have been replaced by all sorts of odd characters. Sometimes these pdf attachments will appear completely correctly and, next time you look at them, they have gone weird! I have tried everything and spent 2 hours on the phone with a very helpful lady from Microsoft but we have reached the conclusion that this is a Leopard problem. I called Apple and they said that they were aware of this and would try to fix in a future update.

If you have to display the pdf attachment in the report output, you may try using CL_GUI_PDFVIEWER. Have a look at this code sample as to how to implement it

Can Not Open PDF Attachments

I can not open PDF attachments from outlook 2010. I am running windows 8 and using Adobe version 11.0.2 If I save the file to desktop, then it will allow me to open it and print it.

the error says it can not open the file because it is unsupported or corrupt.

If you can't open the attachment, have your client/ customer or whatever fix their defective copy of Outlook and send real mail attachments not TNEF encoded rubbish. They are spewing defective email every time they click send on a mail with an attachment.

UNABLE TO OPEN PDF ATTACHMENTS IN E-MAIL

Over the past week,I have been unable to open PDF attachments in my AOL webmail. I encounter no problems with my Outlook Express e-mail. Why is this suddenly happening and how can I correct the problem?

To make sure that Adobe Reader is default,
goto Edit->Preferences->Select default PDF Handler. Check the value in the dropdown list "Select Adobe product". If the first value which appears is 'Adobe ReaderX', then Reader X is the default PDF Handler.
Also please let me know the OS you are using.
Is the problem also faced in AOL webmail with any other Adobe Product(like Acrobat X, Reader 9 etc.) if you are using/used any of them?

I have no problem opening PDF attachments that arrive in my Outlook 2003 Inbox; they open fine with Adobe Reader 9. It may be an issue with your email client.
But if you think that Adobe Reader 8 will fix it, you can download it from http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/8.x/8.1.3/enu/AdbeRdr813_en_US.exe - make sure that you uninstall Reader 9 first (and Acrobat.com & Adobe AIR).

How do I open pdf attachments without subscribing?

I updated Adobe reader for Android and now I cannot open pdf attachments without getting a screen that asks me to subscribe for $9.99 a month. I looked at the comments on the Google play store and Adobe said that you could use your back arrow to get away from the subscription screen but that is not true. In addition, it said to clear defaults in the program but there were no defaults there to clear when I went to that screen. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the program with no success. I still cannot get away from that subscribe screen. As many others are doing, I opened the file with a different program. I am really annoyed by all of this. Can anyone help?

From your post it seems you are trying to open a non PDF document.With the latest update we have provided an optional paid service to the users to convert the non PDF documents to PDF documents and view them in Adobe Reader.

Cannot open .pdf attachment in entourage

I am receiving .pdf attachments which are greyed out, and cannot open them. Telstra helped me with my email problems yesterday and since then cannot open .pdf. I can open other attachment such as .doc. Entourage Version 12.3.6 in my Mac Book Pro.
I can open the same .pdf in my Ipad.

Microsoft upgraded Hotmail e-mail accounts to Outlook.com
The Print Screen key has no function.....when the 2 boxes mentioned above appear on the monitor (which I have detailed) they require action or I cannot proceed to another screen or function.
Maybe my problem should also be sent to Microsoft Customer Service...your thoughts.
I note there has been 106 views hard to believe that no one else has had this problem.

Are you saying that you can't even open an email message that has a PDF attachment? Or, are you unable to open PDF files in attachments? What happens when you try? Do you get an error message?

Cannot open pdf attachments anymore without saving them

I cannot open PDF files that come in as attachments (Adobe Reader 9) I have had this problem for two days. Before the, it was no problem at all. Now, for me to open an attachment, I have to save it first and then open it via My computer or via Adobe Reader and file open. The file association is there, set FOR Adobe Reader to open all pdf files. So what is the problem? It is a time consuming pain to have to save an attachment just to open it.

I have been sent pdf attachments lately to my email account but cannot open them in either my MacBook Pro or my wife's...but they open if I try in my Dell computer. I have downloaded Acrobat Reader and java runtime...but to no avail.

Problem opening PDF attachments

When I try to open some PDF attachments from Mail, I get a blank screen. If I try to open the same attachment in a program like Good Reader, I get a message that the file is not valid. I can however open the file from Microsoft Outlook without any problem on my PC? I have the latest update of iOS installed.

Download Adobe Reader first. https://itunes.apple.com/ph/app/adobe-reader/id469337564?mt=8
Then try to open it using that app. IF not successful, use this method:
Go to Settings > “General”
Choose Restrictions and use your passcode
Go to Allowed Content and choose Websites
Choose All Websites and exit Settings
Then open again using your inbuilt reader, Adobe Reader or Good Reader.

PC Clients are unable to see or open PDF attachments

I have seen an increase in my clients unable to open or see my pdf attachments. I work as a professional designer and rely on pdf email proofing. I am careful to click on the "widows friendly attachments" option and yet I'm still getting about 30% of my clients emailing back unable to open my files or saying I've not added the attachment when actually I have. Has anyone else seen and increase in this problem and know how I might go about solving this problem?

I have heard of this problem but I don't know if there was a definitive fix or not. Some answers have been re-installing the 10.4.7 combo updater. Another solution has been to make sure you are sending plain text messages. If you are responding to a previous message, it may pick up a different format.
Some e-mail servers, such as AOL and Compuserve, have a very difficult time extracting e-mail attachments.
I have done quite a bit of work with e-mail formats. I would really like to see what these attachment problems look like. I will turn on my e-mail in my profile. If you want to send me an e-mail that you know contains an unreadable attachment, I might be able to find out why.

I cannot open PDF attachment on my Mac. One might think it is just slow, but the attachment never comes up. I have to copy the PDF address and paste it into Safari or Explorer, which have no trouble opening the very PDF that Firefox would not handle. I am guessing that I have some setting that is barring PDFs; other attachments open fine. My adobe is up to date, I think; if that was the problem Safari, too, would not be able to open the PDF.

Can't open PDF attachments on 8830

I recently have had a problem opening PDF's on my BES 8830. PDF's used to work quite well, but not anymore.
When I retrieve the document, all that is displayed is a giant question mark on a white background.
Any thoughts? I have realoded the software 4.2.2.196 several times, with no luck.
Any ideas?

DTG standard has no PDF component. Their Premium edition does, I believe. Nevertheless, the BIS Attachment Service should be rendering PDFs for you as long as they remain an attachment...if that's not working, then try these steps:
1) Register HRT
Homescreen > Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > BBKey (it does not matter which line is current) > Register Now
2) Resend Service Books
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
3) Batt Pull Reboot
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
