Opening PDFs in android apps

How do create a link to open a pdf in an android app?
I would prefer that the document be viewable within the app is this possible?

The apps that appear in the 'open in' list will depend on what document/file type you have open and are trying to copy, and what apps you've got on your iPad - if the app supports the file type then it should appear (unless you have more than 10 apps that support it, in which case I think it's the 10 most recently installed)

  • Open pdf in android browser

How do I open a PDF using Adobe Reader in another tab in a browser on android.  I don't want it to start Adobe Reader as a separate app and open the doc there.  Is there a way to define an add-on to open PDF using preferred software as there is on a Windows platform?

If you have a tablet that runs full Windows 8 - not Windows 8 RT, which is limited.
And if you install the full Adobe Reader for Windows, not the special Adobe Reader Touch for Windows 8.
Then you will have the same features as a desktop.
Unless they can't be accessed in touch mode, since it isn't a touch app.

  • Problem opening PDFs within an App-V session of Internet Explorer

I've seen similar post to this problem but no solution.
Problem is I am delivering a web based application using App-V.  This works fine except when the User tries to open PDFs.  This fails with the following error - "Adobe PDF Document" "There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader"
"If it is running, please exit and try again"
I've tried the following scenarios, all fail.
Test with Reader already open and with it not open.
LOCAL_INTERACTION_ALLOWED set to TRUE or FALSE
    Windows XP or Windows 7
Sequencing with Reader 10 installed which produces a different "Visual C++ Runtime error" on Windows XP (within the sequencing Process I'm unable to open a PDF document)  Sequencer is 4.6.2.24020.
Reader Protected Mode turned Off or or Enabled (outside the App-V bubble)
Failure testing internal and external PDFs
Reader 11 makes no difference, still get the same failues.
Using ProcMon I can see AcroRd32.exe running but failing with "Access denied" error's writing to the Users's %Appdata%\Adobe folder and %temp% folders (permssions should not be an issue, User has full control).  Last Access denied failure
is "C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Acrobat\10.0\UserCache.bin"(still fails is this is deleted or already exists)
It works fine just opening a PDF in a non-App-V IE session. I don't want to include Reader inside the IE Bubble.
Has anyone foudn a resolution to this?  Thanks in advance for help.

If you're using Reader X, have you tested with this guide from Adobe? http://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/AdminGuide/appv.html

  • Open pdf in Blackberry app

There is an Adobe Reader app for Blackberry Z10,
    https://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/26086872/
and I can open email attachment file use the reader,
but how can I call it to open pdf file in my app?

The PDF would be linked from a server and the hand off would then go to either Safari or back to iBooks. If it is a live PDF form, you'd stick with Safari and keep it on the server, but then you'd be doing logins, etc.
In the end, as it sounds like you're entertaining a lab tool, these types of interactivity seem to accumulate and hint at an iOS app, instead of a book, tho, I think.

  • Browser closing when opening PDF output in Apps

    Hello,
When opening the concurrent request/report output (for PDF output), the browser just closes.
The PDF output were generated thru XML Publisher (reports converted in XML Publisher - rtf).
PDF is defined in the Viewer Options/ System Options(Viewer). I could open PDF output by
pressing CTRL key while clicking on the output request Output button. It will give prompt on
whether to Open or Save the PDF.
Not sure if it's really related to XML Publisher, maybe more on concurrent request, but idea
    will be very much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Rownald

    To clarify what you posted:
When opening the PDF document, your browser closes. When pressing the control key and opening the document, you get a dialog window (with the choices of open or save). What happens when you select open?
This is browser behavior, nothing to do with this being a PDF file. Which browser and which platform? If you are using IE7, popup blocker is automatically enabled, and if you are viewing this on a 2003 server, you have server security settings to override. Pressing the control key allows popups.

  • Open PDF on Android (Flash 4.5 mobile app)

    Hi,
I am planning to implement a ebook pdf reader by getting the url of the pdf (which resides locally or on web) on an Android device and read it.
I have read in livedocs that only when the condition (HTMLLoader.pdfCapability == HTMLPDFCapability.STATUS_OK) is true, the pdf will be read. But its never true on my machine or on the device.
Please help. What else do I need to do?
    Thanks
    Monika

OK SO I GUESS SINCE THIS IS UN ANSWERED.... WE"LL JUST HAVE TO FIGURE THIS OUT OURSELVES.....
I'm just going to start posting a running thread on what I'm finding:
-- ok so StageWebView works when I run it locally in the emulator, it loads the PDF just as it would in IE or FireFox, I
I've also read on a post that StageWebView work by sort of displaying the "Default web browser onthe device" sort of like a window chopped through the AIR app?  If this is the case it sort of makes since that it's not working on Android because you can't really preview a PDF inside a web browser, is automatically downloads it and tries to run it with a native app.... if this is the case then the blank window in StageWebView is dead because it's done what it was was suppose to it's now up to the device.
--- I read that "Dolphin browser on android run PDFs inside itself", if this is the case then how do you switch the "Default" broswer in Android?  If AIR just chops a hole in your app to use the native browser, well then Dolphin could work?
-- I've tried just about ever configuration of app manifest and Hardware acceleration, I'm pretty sure at this point, this is not the reason it doesn't work. in that the "plug-in" they are talking about is the video plugin inside the HTML5 markup....

  • Acrobat Reader closes after opening PDF from an app-v

So we have a problem with reader version 10.1.0.534. In our company we have most applicaties packaged as an app-v take firefox as an example. Now when we try to open a pdf document from firefox Acrobat Reader opens for a second and then closes again right away. Reader itself is installed on Windows 7 x64 (so reader is not packaged with app-v)
We also have this problem with some business applicaties. Is this a known issue for this Reader version? upgrading reader is a big thing (large company) so if there is a fix in the settings it would help us greatly.

    Hi Ronnie,
I am not able to reproduce the exact issue. Sequenced the latest build of Firefox on a system already having Reader 10.1.4, so that the reader plugins gets registered. On the sequencer the PDF is opening up in Firefox. The firefox package is then installed on a client system having Reader 10.1.4. When I open any PDF in firefox on the client, I always get the SaveAs dialog.
How are you sequencing Firefox. Are you making any customizations so that browser extensions work well. In this case browser is working within the virtual environment and might not be able to talk to local Reader.

  • Open PDF from java app

How can I create a link in a java standalone application to open a pdf file??? (with Acrobat)
    thanks

And what do you mean by "link"?

  • Open links with an app

    I have a Samsung S3, Android version 4.1.2 and using Firefox 25.
When I was using the default Internet app, every time I clicked on a youtube or play store link, it would ask me what program I would like to open it with.
But when I do the same in Firefox, it goes to the mobile site automatically. Can I change this?

hello Juiceman77, i think google would have to fix this on their server side and treat firefox on android as a mobile browser and send the right intent to open the appropriate android apps: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/961564#answer-444901

  • Cannot opening PDF created with Adobe Acrobat 5 on Samsung Android device

Hi I have an number of links to PDFs on my WordPress.com blog home page (www.creationtonewcreation.com). These were created in Adobe Acrobat 5, with security applied that allows viewing and printing. They open fine on my laptop (e.g. with Google Chrome), but when trying to open on my Android mobile (Samsung Note 3 - a standard design) with Acrobat Reader installed, an error message appears 'The document cannot be opened because it is not a valid PDF document'. It is a valid PDF as it was created with Adobe 5 itself. Do you know what the problem might be?  I have uploaded another PDF (not sure what this was created with) on my other WordPress.com site, and it downloads fine, so WordPress.com is not the problem per se.  Many thanks for any advice anyone can give.  Rob

    Hi Robert,
I am so sorry for the inconvenience caused & will try my best to get this issue resolved.
I will recommend you to upgrade your Adobe reader to Adobe Acrobat Reader DC on your Samsung Note 3 mobile phone and then try to view the pdf files. You can download it for free from the Google app. store or you can refer to this link Acrobat Reader DC Learn & Support.
Let me know if you still experience the same issue.
    Regards,
    Aadesh

  • How do I open a link in a pdf in iOS App Adobe Reader 11.6.4?

When I open a pdf in iOS App Adobe Reader 11.6.4 I cannot click on a link, the link is underlined but I have no possibility to choose that link. On a PC this link in the same PDF is functioning correctly.

    Michael,
Your form is a special type of form called a "static XFA form" (typically authored with Adobe LiveCycle Designer).
The "links" in the static XFA form are actually buttons (form fields) that act like hyperlinks.
Unfortunately, Adobe Reader mobile products (including Adobe Reader for iOS, Android, Windows Phone) do not support static (or dynamic) XFA forms.  Sorry for the inconvenience.
The static XFA buttons for web links did not work with any of the non-Adobe PDF viewers that I tried on my iPad, either.  So the users who receive the static XFA form will experience the same problem on mobile devices.
