Opening picture text messages

Just got this phone and I am still learning how to use it.  I am having trouble opening picture text that are sent to me.  What do I need to do?

When the text messaged states "download" in a box from a message that I received, I tap the box and is states "downloading" and that is it.  Nothing else happens.
Are you sure nothing is happening?  Have you checked the download folder?

  • How to send a picture text message

New to the iphone but was always able to send a picture text message to anyone including my verizon friends with a LG phone worked great. However with the new iphone I try to send a text message with a picture and nobody receives it. Then I get a reply back that the attachment has been removed??? I don't want it as an attachment but a simple picture msg.
So the question is how do I send a picture text message to another person's phone
    Thanks

The easiest way is opening up a message to the desired person and hitting the camera icon to the left of the message bar, where you will be prompted to pick one from your camera roll or take a new one.
You can also choose a current picture from your roll and select "MMS" when pressing the new message icon (arrow and a rectangle) in the corner of the screen.
If neither of these ways are working, check settings > messages > and make sure "MMS Messaging" is enabled.
If you still receive this error double check your AT&T account to ensure that your plan allows for MMS messaging.

  • I open a text message to respond and my screen freezes

I keep getting the "low on space" message pop up, and when I went to open a text message it would tell me that there is not enough space and I need to delete apps. I deleted some works in the text dictionary and then suddenly my phone started to act up. It wont let me delete blank works in my dictionary. Also, when I go to open up a text and respond I type in one letter and my screen freezes. When I finally get it to the home page the keyboard is still there and is making everything slow and or not work. I have to keep turning my phone on and off. I have already taken out the battery 3 times already and let it sit.
Anyone have advice on what to do???
I don't want to have to do a factor reset because I am scared I will loose my calendar appointments, pictures etc.

Your internal storage is getting too low. These phones require a little bit of maintenance from time to time.
Check your internal storage. Settings > sd card & phone storage
Clear cache from the applications. Settings > applications > manage applications > all tab > menu button > sort by size. You will have to go through the apps one by one and pressing the white clear cache button. Browser, market and games seem to be the usual suspects.
Backup your text messages to the sd card or send to an email address. Search the Market for sms backup. If you want to save mms messages, you will likely have to choose a paid application.
After you have backed up the text messages, delete as many threads or individual messages as you can stand.
Clear call history. Not sure if there is an application that will back that up for you. I use Lookout which has that as option.
Move what applications you can to the sd card. The steps will be similar to the clear cache steps above.
After completing all that go back to get your internal storage level and hopefully be amazed how much space you have gained.

  • My iphone 4 wont let me open my text messages

MY iphone 4 just wont let me open my text messages, its just a blank screen whenever I open it and its driving me crazy. I've already turned it off, then on again and have already done a hard reset and both failed to fix the problem. Help!

Close out of the message app, then double tap the home button and completely close out of it.
Then do a rest, hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.  Then check message app again.

  • Does anyone know why all of my picture text message would keep failing to send?

Does anyone know why all of my picture text messages would keep failing to send?

do you have the necessary mms option from your provider?

  • I am having tremendous difficulty sending simple voice text messages, or typed text messages to non I-phone users. Picture text messages will not send at all and can only be sent to other i-phone users. Is anyone else haing this problem ??  Big concern

Well this is stupid - I wrote the question above and now it is telling me the message is blank - how dumb is this.
I am having tremendous difficulty sending sipmle typed texts, voice texts and picture text messages to non I- phone users.
Simple text messages are sporadic and seem to be impacted by whether I incluse a subject or not - picture texts will not go at all.
Anyone else having this problem ???

It's a corporate phone so will need to check. Will not send text messages to non I-phones if they contain a "subject" or a picture.  Wierd - regular voice or typed text messages are fine.

    Check for hardware issues
Try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good. Also, confirm your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers. If you still see the alert when you update or restore, contact Apple support.

  • It wont let me open a text message.

    Heya all,
Something that's been bugging me for a few weeks now. Sometimes when I recieve a text message on my Curve, When i want to open it, it just doesnt open... XD It doesnt do it all the time but randomly it will and it's very annoying.
Anyone can help with some suggestions?
    Thanks

this literally just happened to me,
i took the battery out for 30 secs replaced and tried opening it again and it worked.
if it doesn't, go to sms menu and choose contacts name you got the message from as if you were typing them a new message. it'll open up the conversation screen and you can see it. not exactly a problem solver, but a way around it

  • Can't open a text message

    Hi
I received a text message from my bankwith the heading "Buddy name". However, I can't open it. when I click on it, there is not message present. Also, the message remains as unread with a blue dot next to it.
I've tried quiting the Messages app and reopening, but it makes no different. I've also restarted the phone.
    Anything else I can try?
    Thanks
    Phil

  • Block Call Fails to stop picture text messages

I have been getting picture messages with long rambling text with it which are inappropriate from someone whose number I do not recognize.  I have blocked the number on the myverizon website, but I am still getting them.  I don't know how to stop this jerk from sending them when the blocking doesn't seem to work.  Is there something else I can do or did I do something wrong?  I tried looking the number up, but all the places on the net want my money to tell me who owns the number.  One said it was a land line in Cheyenne, WY and another said it was a mobile in the Lander, Wyoming area.  So even if I paid I'm not confident that the correct party would be identified.  Help please.

The call message block feature prevents calls and normal texts but when it comes to picture/video messages, the subject line still gets through(no message or picture though). If you're still getting the message, try calling cs and having them remove then readd the block(the feature not just the number) then add the number again. Also you could try updating your phone if you haven't with *228, option 1. Hope this helps ^.^

  • Can't open certain text messages - have BB storm 9530

certain text messages received do not allow me to open them, I can "mark opened" but still cannot access them. I see them in my inbox and I can read the partial subject but that's it. Anyone experience this issue? How can I resolve? THANKS!

This has been common problem.  Hopefully they get a new OS released soon.  Until then, if a battery pull doesn't fix it, I would consider downgrading the OS.  Follow my instructions here:

  • Can't open/view Text messages

I click on a contact to read my new message(s) and my screen turns white and says "loading" and it never actually loads and shows me the new message.  This happened out of nowhere tonight (nothing happened to the phone tonight) and I can still view emails and browse online.  I can also still compose a text message and send it successfully.  I have tried restarting the phone, I have tried shutting it off completely, cleaning it and putting it back together and trying again, but nothing is working.  Please HELP.....this is driving me crazy!
    Thank you in advance!!!

    Hello Jamie1115,
I can certainly understand how important is it to be able to read your text messages! In this day and age texting has grown to outpace phone calls on cellular devices. Have you checked how much available device memory you have on the Incredible 2? If not then I would recommend making more memory available by performing the steps below:
Delete any long threaded messages from the text message inbox.
Clearing data and clearing cache on commonly used apps.
Move pictures and videos to the memory card.
Uninstall any unused apps downloaded from the Market.
Remove any anti-virus apps or task managers.
Delete any widgets that's not being used from the main screens to free up RAM.
Remove any live wallpaper from the background.
Manually stop unnecessary or unused services in settings.
Delete any 3rd party messaging apps from the device.
Once you have done the step above then retry your text to see if you are able to read the message. Also, test to see if you are able to read new text messages, just in case there is an issue with the one message that you received. If you are still unable to view the messages on your incoming text then the next step is a factory reset. I have provided a link below on how to complete a factory reset on the Droid Incredible 2.
    http://support.verizonwireless.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=42020
As always, I recommend that you verify that your contacts and calendar entries are backed up on your Gmail account. You also have backup assistant to use for archiving your contacts. Once this reset has been complete then the device would need to be reactivated. This is a fairly simple process as there is a tutorial that walks you through the process. After the device is reactivated and setup, please test all voice and data services then test your incoming text messages. If you continue to have this issue then please reply to this message with your findings so I can further assist.
    Thank you...

  • Cant open my text message folder!

Hey can sum1 plz help me....i use a bb torch and when i press my text messages folder it doesnt open it shows me an error dat sayz "uncaught exception:java.lang.IndexOutOfBoundsException"... i rebooted my fone many times...but it still shows the same erroe..wat should i du? its really frustrating

    I suggest an OS reload.
At the top of each device forum, there should be some "sticky" threads that discuss the OS levels available for many models. If they include your model, then please use those as reference as you proceed. Otherwise, you will have to dig through the official download portal for OS packages for your model:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
From a PC, you can install any compatible (e.g., for your exact BB Model Number) OS package to a BB via this procedure:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Device-Software/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-Syste...
Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC. If that OS package is from a carrier other than the carrier for which your BB was originally manufactured, then delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
Be sure that you remove, from your PC, any other BB device OS packages as having more than one installed to the PC can cause conflicts with this procedure.
You may also want to investigate the use of BBSAK (bbsak.org) to perform the wipe it is capable of.
You may also want to try this procedure to perhaps narrow down the precise causal item:
Load your OS "bare bones"...if anything is optional, do not install it.
If the behavior presents immediately, then try a different OS with step 1
If the behavior does not immediately present, then run for as long as it takes for you to be sure that the behavior will not present.
Add one thing -- no matter how tempting, just one.
If the behavior does not present immediately, then again run for long enough to be sure it will not have the same problem
Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are loaded or the behavior presents
When the behavior presents, you know the culprit...the last thing you loaded.
If the behavior does not re-present, then you know that either step 1 or 2 cured it.
If the behavior presents no matter what, then you likely have a hardware level issue for which no amount of OS or software can cure.
If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:

  • I cannot open my text messaging app on iPhone 4. Help please??

It shows I have 2 text messages, but when I tap on the Messages icon, it is just blank for about 10-15 seconds & then just goes back to the home screen.  Anybody know how to fix this?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Before restoring the iPhone, i auggest you try this:
Go to Settings-> iMessage and turn iMessage OFF.  Then power off your iPhone, wait a little while and power it back on again.  Go to Settings ->iMessage and turn it back ON.
This worked on my husband's phone when something similar happened a few days ago.
