Opening PSE 11 to edit from Aperture

Just upgraded from PSE 8 to PSE 11 on my Mac. Suddenly I can't open PSE 11 from Aperture to edit a photo. Have selected PSE 11 in Aperture as the editor. There seems to be no easy way to get a photo into PSE 11 for editing. Please help. Thanks

Make sure you selected the correct file in Aperture preferences for extern\al editing app, and not the alias. You need the application in the Support Files Folder.
From Lion the user library is hidden by default. From Finder hold down the command (alt) key and click Go - then you can choose Library.

  • Elements don't open the TIFF which generated from Aperture

    Hello
    I use Mac OS X 10.6.8 with Aperture 3.2.2 and Elemets 10 on a MBP 17" 2,8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.
When I use in Aperture a RAW to edit it in Elements there is no pictute in Elements.
The TIFF in Aperture is generated from the RAW and Elements start but there is no picture in Elements.
When I use an other external Application, for example Preview this works.
When I use Drag&Drop from Aperture to icon of Elements in dock this works.
Normal way - with Photoshop CS 3 - on an other Mac with same application works well.
What can be the reason that Aperture and Elements don't work on my MBP ?
    Regards
    Jochen

So a year later and now you have me.
Using PS Elements 10 with Aperture and photos do not Reflect back.
I open Aperture and ask to edit with PS elements 10 (set up as described here)
make my edits. when ready to save, i hit "Save"
The default “save” is IMAGENUMBER .tif BUT at the bottom “Format” it says .tiff  ?????
I hit save and it does not reflect back in Aperture. However if i change the IMAGENUMBER.tif to IMAGENUMBER.tiff it does reflect back.
Again I point out if I save it as the default it does not work. (meaning I don’t know where the saved version goes? It does not reflect back in Aperture, It ONLY works if I change it to .tiff or jpeg.
    Thank you, Orly

  • Edit from aperture to photoshop

When I edit my photos from aperture 3 to photoshop it transfers from a raw file to a tiff file. Is there an easy way to transfer a raw file from aperture to Photoshop and maintain it as a raw file. I presently have to export the raw file from aperture to my desktop and then drag it to Photoshop.

That is the only way to do it. Aperture is designed to utilize the RAW file as the Master which will never be altered. Therefore it does not send it to external editors, but instead sends a lossless format file that includes the RAW interpretation of Aperture, along with any edits you make.
Why do you feel the need to use the RAW in Photoshop, btw?

  • Image Bands/Corruption in Photoshop CS5 When Editing from Aperture

I'm having some problems when editing Aperture images in Photoshop. When I choose an image I want to edit, it opens in PS CS5 with bands of corruption in the image. Now, I hate to use the term corruption, because when I zoom the image to 100%, the bands disappear, so the image isn't truly corrupted. You can see what's going on with the images here: http://gallery.me.com/drewje#100004
I'm using Aperture 3.1.1 with RAW image formats and using an Aperture-managed library, not referenced. I've tried opening in Photoshop with both TIFF and PSD 16-bit formats with identical results. I'm using the high performance energy saver setting, to enable my NVIDIA GeForce 9600m video card in my first gen unibody MacBook Pro. I'm using version 12.0.2 of Photoshop CS5.
I'm getting no help on the Adobe boards, so was hoping someone over here had some ideas or thoughts on how to fix this. Anyone?

I'm just getting back to check on this thread now, but this does appear to fix the problem. I hate to call this "solved" because it's clearly a bug that exists, but it's nice that there's a workaround. I was just about to look at moving to Lightroom. I should be able to live with this.

  • Elements won't open when trying to edit from Lightroom

I was trying to move two photos from Lightroom to Elements to edit.  I click on the photos, tell it to edit in Elements and it goes thru the process, says complete, but Elements will not open????  I recently changed the default editor to CS5 with the alternate as Elements.  Any ideas?
    Thanks

Oops, answered my own question.  Seems when I set up preferences, I goofed and somehow didn't get the correct app.  Sorry

  • Opening an image to edit from within Lightroom

    Hi there
I have just installed Lightroom 5 on my iMac running Yosemite.
When I click on 'edit in', I have the option of opening PS CS5 or Elements 13, both of which are installed.
If I choose CS5, the image opens OK.  When I choose Elements, the image doesn't open for editing.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Peter

Go to Preferences, then click on the External Editing tab, then under Additional External Editor click on "Choose" and then (remember, this is on Windows, not Mac) point to PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe

  • Opening a PDF for editing from a website

I am new to Adobe Acrobat and need to know what is required in order to place an editable PDF on a website for editing without downloading to the local computer?  I am working on a rush project that has 7 pdf files with fields that need to be accessed online for editing.  When I upload to website and open, they open locally. Any help greatly appreciated.

What sort of edting are you talking about, and what do you want to do with the documents after they're edited?
If you just want the PDF to open in Acrobat, you have to configure it be selecting: Edit > Preferences > Internet > Display PDF in browser

  • 'Tis better to pen for edit from .lvproj rather than ClearCase

I have been told that it is better to open a file for editing from .lvproj than from source control or the directory. Reason being it would help ensure that LabView would know of changes affecting other VIs and also be better able to deal with renames or relocations.
So if I open a VI from the project file then double click a subVI within it, will the subVI be afforded the same protections or must it also be opened from the project file?
    thanx,
    jvh
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi jvh,
I imagine since the subVI is the same instance within the calling VI as is included in the project then it should yield the same result because the SCC affects the entire hierarchy within the project.  I found some resources in the NI Community (here) and the LabVIEW 2009 Help (Configuring Source Control for LabVIEW Projects) that should be a great starting point for further clarification of SCC with LabVIEW.
    I hope this helps!

I recently switched to Aperture. When I opened an image I imported from iPhoto, I don't have an option to edit it. Top of "Adjustments" tab says "image offline". How can I adjust Aperture so I can make adjustment to my iPhoto images?

I never tried importing from the iPhoto library as referenced images. I wonder if Aperture can access images stored in an iPhoto library package?  Even if it would work, it sounds like a bad thing to do.
You might consider starting over and this time have Aperture manage the images.  That will copy them to the Aperture library, leaving the iPhoto library untouched. This assumes you have sufficient space to make a complete copy of all the images in your iPhoto library plus another copy of each image that Aperture makes as the preview image. You can then back up your iPhoto library (two backup copies, just to be sure) then remove it from your hard drive when you start getting too low on space.  As I write this I don't know where your iPhoto or Aperture libraries are/will be located so I'm assuming you have them on your HD.

  • Can't print from PS or PSE but can from Aperture and Pages

I suddenly am unable to print photos from my iMac running 10.6.6 with Photoshop CS5 or PSE 9 to my Epson SP 2400 (FireWire on the iMac) or 3880 (either connected to my MacPro and addressed through WiFi, or connected to the iMac thru USB). Everything seems to go normally until I press Print, then nothing happens. When I select Preview or PDF instead of Print, I get a blank page. I THINK the problem may have begun only after I updated from 10.6.5, but I'm not certain, and it could have begun only after I upgraded to PSE 9 but again I'm not certain. Prior to making any changes, printing worked normally with PS CS5 and PSE 8 under 10.6.5. Drivers are up-to-date.
Printing a text-only document from Pages on the iMac to a WiFi-connected laser printer works fine.
Printing a text-only document from PSE 9 or on the iMac to a WiFi-connected laser printer, curiously, also works fine.
Printing a photo from PSE 8 on my MacBook Pro updated to 10.6.6, thru WiFi, to the 3880 on the MacPro, works fine.
Printing from Aperture on the iMac to the 2400 thru USB works fine.
Printing from Aperture on the MacPro to the 3880 thru USB works fine.
Printing from Aperture on the iMac thru WiFi to the 3880 on the MacPro works fine.
As I write this, I'm recognizing for the first time that the problem seems to be in printing a photo either with PSE 9, or with PSE 9 installed on the same computer from which I'm trying to print with CS5. Rather than not post this until I've done some experimentation (like installing PSE 9 on the MacBook), I'll go ahead and post first and hope to hear from the Voice of Experience.
    Anyone?

Re the driver affecting pdf printing, the answer is no. The print to pdf uses internal processes and is not impacted by the vendors driver. So given that Rosetta was no help and Word is also failing, then it suggest that the core printing system is at fault. Although the ability to CS2 to print is a 'curve-ball'. The CS2 suite does things differently when it comes to printing but it still eventually uses the core printing system to get the file to the printer.
    So, some things to try....
    1. Install the 10.4.9 Combo update. If you did the sequential update from 10.4.8 to 10.4.9, then this update can fill missing holes.
    2. Get Fixamac's Printer Setup Repair utility to see if it can identify any issues.
    3. Get Gutenprint 5.0.0 and try adding a printer using one of these drivers.

  • Open RAW NEF directly in CS3, or pass master from Aperture?

    Hi,
Can anyone please advise me on the best process for editing photos in CS3, in this respect:
I'm working with RAW NEFs (Nikon D200), and can either pass the images from the master version in Aperture (wanting to work with the unaffected image), or I could open the referenced NEF file directly into CS3.
It seems that the second option would be better because I'd have all the RAW import tuning controls in CS3, instead of just opening what Aperture creates as the TIFF or PSD. Wouldn't that allow me much more latitude in color adjustments, etc. if I'm making my final image in CS3?
And doesn't it seem that the CS3 RAW importer has much more RAW controls than Aperture, so this would also be better, no?
But I could be mistaken here, and would love any thoughts on this...
    Thanks!

Hi Chacro, thank you for the response.
I think I might not have described my question well, because it's equal Aperture & Photoshop related. I do rely exclusively on Aperture for RAW conversion, project management, etc., and only rarely and reluctantly go into Photoshop, but sometimes I must for multi-layer editing, etc.
What I'm trying to figure out, in those cases where I need to use Photoshop and will produce my final image there, is what is the best way to bring a file in to Photoshop? Is it better or equal to just 'make a version from (RAW) master' in Aperture, then 'edit in photoshop'-- or will I have better latitude with the image if I use ACR to convert the referenced RAW file, then edit in Photoshop (thus it's not 'flattened' by Aperture on the way). What am I losing when Aperture converts it to a TIFF or PSD, compared to opening through ACR?
I guess the nut of it is, are Aperture's RAW tools equal to Photoshop's? I always assumed so, until I recently used ACR for the first time instead of passing a PSD from Aperture, and there are so many tabs and fine image controls in the ACR interface. What I'm also not sure about is whether all these dozens of tools in ACR are actually RAW tools, or non-RAW tools that would have equal power once in Photoshop.
I'm sorry for the lack of articulation -- I'm pretty new to the RAW world, so my ignorance is showing!
Thanks so much for your help Chacro.

  • Editing with Photoshop from Aperture - getting it back into Aperture

I have Aperture 3, and Photoshop Elements 9 & 10, but for some time now, when I send a photo from Aperture to Photoshop I have problems. The photo opens in Photoshop fine (set as default in Preferences), but when I save the file in Photoshop, it simply opens a 'save as' dialogue, and expects me to save the file on my hard drive somewhere. Even doing this doesn't 'send the edited photo' back to Aperture as it should.
I'm sure I'm missing something obvious! Can anyone help?
    Thanks...

I got the same "save as" window the OP did when I pressed Cmd-S (save). I even cancelled out the first time, thinking I'd accidentally pressed Cmd-Shift-S (save as), and went up to the menu to select Save to be sure. The dialogue box still came up.
You can see the file (a PSD in my case) along with with the masters listed in the folder that the dialogue box defaults to, so it's not an issue with the file not being saved upon creation by Aperture. The file does already exist. Trying to save it prompts a "save as" style dialogue box though, as if it wants you to save it as another version. It's weird.
I'm pretty new to Aperture, so I don't know for sure that this pop-up save window behaviour is new, but it sounds like it is (the manual doesn't mention it). Until someone states they are experiencing this with Snow Leopard, my guess is that it's a Lion/versions thing.

  • PSE can not create layers from Aperture reference

I'm still working out how to use Aperture (just got it) and I can't figure this one out. No matter how I try and export an image to Photoshop (tried using PSD & TIFF standard and 16 bit) , PSE will NOT allow me to create duplicate a layer from teh background layer. I need to do some touch-ups on the image and need to duplicate the layer to do the work. PSE doesn't give it to me as an option.
If I try and select everything, do a copy and a paste, the image gets pasted over the background layer as a selected object and not a new layer as it normally does.
Any ideas of what's going on and how to send a version of an image from Aperture to PSE that will allow me to edit it fully?
    Thanks.
    Matt

    Hi Matt;
By "PSE" do you mean Photoshop Elements?
Also, if you are working with a 16-bit picture (a converted RAW image, I am assuming), what you can do with it is very limited in Photoshop. Reduce it to 8-bit and try to see if that fixes it.

  • Cannot find picture when transferring from Aperture to PSE 11

Cannot find picture when transferring from Aperture to PSE 11
I have an older version of PSE and when I transferred a picture from Aperture to PSE9 it would open PSE9 and show the picture.
I set the Preps in Aperture for PSE 11 and the PSE 11 opens but no picture in the box or photo bin or in the top left "open".
I changed the Aperture setting to the PSE Organizer and the same thing happened Organizer open BUT there was no picture to be found.
In Aperture it shows the file being transferred.
I looked in the PSE 11 preps and file but could not find anything.
The fact that it opens the PSE 11 app tells me it is being recognized but the picture (file) is going somewhere else.
    Thanks

    Hi Greg
Make sure you are linking to the application in Support Files and not to an alias.
