Opening Robohelp 9 project in RBH version 8

I have found a low cost version of Robohelp 8 on the web. I have a project file that i created in the trial of RBH 9 will i be able to open it in the version 8 that i intend to buy?

Welcome to our community
I just tested and was a bit surprised as I created a project in RoboHelp 9, saved and closed, then opened it up in version 8 without issue.
After examining my settings, I found that I had the option to delete the .CPD upon opening enabled, so likely that had something to do with it.
Cheers... Rick

  • Robohelp 7 open Robohelp 9 project?

as I search through internet, I understand that robohelp 7 unable to open robohelp 9 project
we have two robohelp 7 licenses and three robohelp 9 licenses
when working on project in robohelp 9, it need to upgrade the project, but robohelp 7 is unable to open the project after upgraded
Is it any way opening Robohelp 9 project(converted from version 7 project) in Robohelp 7?
Is it upgrade Robohelp 7 to 9 is the only way? We do not wish to upgrade is because i am wondering if later Adobe release robohelp 10, and by that time we need more robohelp license and we purchased additional license, we will need to upgrade all other old robohelp product?

    Hello again
Yep, conditional tagging is handled in the project before you compile or generate, so indeed they would be lost as would any information you excluded via the tab and build expression.
Not perfect, but at least you get a project you may continue editing in version 7.

  • Cannot open Robohelp 8 project in Robohelp 9

I cannot open my old Robohelp 8 projects from Robohelp 9. When I open it, it shows me a prompt to make a backup and upgrade the project. Then I click Upgrade, it returns an error:
"open project was cancelled or the application was unable tp load the database for   <path to my project>"
Creating or opening new projects in the 9 format works fine.
The old Robohelp project was created on a different PC. I just copied the whole folder to a new PC with Robohelp 9. The oroject is not corrupted  I can still open it on my old PC with RH8.
Any suggestions how to fix that?
    Thanks

There isn't a Save As option but usually it is as simple as copying the project from one location to another.
No it doesn't write an absolute path as if it did that, none of us could move projects.
Do you have a second machine (not with SSD) that you can install RoboHelp 9 on in trial mode? With that you could perhaps put the project on an external hard disk and prove it works there as it does for me?
Are you copying just the project out of your profile? So C:\Users\XXXXX\Documents\My RoboHelp Projects\Project1 becomes D:\Project1. If not, try that.
After moving, getting the error and trashing the CPD, do you get the error again if you reopen after that?

  • Can I open Logic 9 projects in earlier versions of Logic?

I will be using a Logic Express project between two Macs. One Mac will have Logic 9, and one with Logic 8. Will the same project be able work between the two versions without any hassle?
    Thanks!

In the past Logic has not allowed older versions to open newer versions.
It has only allowed (crappily at that) for us to open old Logic songs using newer Logic versions.
I still have my Logic 4.8.1 for PC in storage, just in case I need it.
Apparently Logic 8 does not open REALLY old Logic files. So much for "backwards compatibility"
The competition, PT, allows for version 7 software to open version 8 session files.
So it can be done. Just not with Logic...

  • Problem opening a converted project from previous version of Premiere CC, in Premiere CC 2014.

Hello. This is the problem. When I try to open with premiere pro CC 2014 a converted and actualized CC 2014 version of a project created previously in a previous version of premiere, the software crash.
Said in other words if it doesn't clear:
    - I created a project in Premiere CC
    - I actualized the project to Premiere CC 2014
    - I worked in the project with the new Premiere CC 2014 for few days and suddenly, I cannot open the project and the software crash.
I hope you understand my problem. Sorry about my english. I'm not native english speaker.
Thanks for your help and support.

Rather than opening directly, try importing the project via the Media Browser Window.
Much more efficient as you'll have more options.

  • Can't open RoboHelp 9 project

was recently upgraded to Windows 7 and now I get an error message that RoboHelp 9 cannot load the database - database is stored on a removable drive - not the laptop - Help Please :-)

Can you see the drive in Windows? What are your rights to it? Do you have sufficient rights to the project folder?
BTW – this is a bad idea to work off a removable drive – create a local c:\projects\project_name\ folder with full admin rights and work there; zip it up to archive it on your removable drive for safety.

  • Question about opening project in newer version of flash

I have a few FLA files I made under Flash 10. When I try to open them in CS5, I get an error message saying it's incompatible because CS5 doesn't support sliders or documents. My guess is that the FLAs have a slider or two in them.
Has anyone run into this type of problem? Do I have to any options other than rewrite the projects??

  • To open a project already under version in RoboHelp for the first time

    Hello Everyone,
In RH html help it is mentioned that first time when you open
your project in the new version (I have RH v6) which was created in
the old version of RH (in my case it was created in RH x3) the
project is converted to the new project file type (.xpj) and the
old project file (.mpj) is deleted.
So far, I have done the first step and project is converted
to the new project file type (.xpj) but the old file type (.mpj) is
still there – is it might be because it was read only.
My greater concern is the next step which is mentioned in the
Help, my supervisor doesn’t agree with that which is
‘Add the project back to version control in a different
folder than the original .mpj project file. Somehow, he
doesn’t agree with that and I am really not sure if there is
going to be any impact for not doing that because currently in
Windows explorer I can see both the project file types – one
with the .mpj and the other one with the .xpj. And also, I am not
sure if the huge difference in size of both the file types is a
concern (old mpj file size is coming 544 KB & the new xpj file
size is coming only 3KB). Please, give me your feedback.
    Your help is greatly appreciated,
    Thanks

    Hi all
Trying to clarify here. Colum is mostly right.
When an older project is opened in X5 or 6, the .MPJ file
isn't really "Converted". What happens is that an XML file bearing
the same name as the project but having the extension .XPJ is
created along with a slew of other files. The former .MPJ file is
then updated and renamed by changing its file extension. The .MPJ
extension is renamed to .CPD. I could be wrong in my assumption of
course, but I've always thought .CPD meant "Cache Project
    Database".
Cheers and happy Thursday all! Rick

  • Unable to Open Project (CS4 - Trial Version)

After futzing and cleaning up several projects, I am now unable to open them.  I may have changed the Video Preview from Microsoft AVI to I-Frame.  I get the following message when I attempt to open the affected projects:
The project contained a sequence that could not be opened.  No sequence preview preset file or codec could be associated with this sequence type.
Is there a way to fix this situation rather than having to start all over from scratch as I've already done for one project?
Any tips, suggestions or errata would be most welcomed!

For the learning of PrPro, I highly recommend the Adobe Classroom in a Book for PrPro CS4. It will step one through almost all aspects of NLE work with CS4, from the start of a Project to completion, with most necessary steps along the way.
Now, for the Canon 5D/7D, I would strongly recommend that you look back in the forum a bit, as there have been several recent discussions on working with that footage effectively. Both Jeff Bellune and PaulineDC contributed to many of those threads. Before you have hours of footage, those threads will give you some workflow ideas.
As for the VHS tapes, I highly recommend the Grass Valley/Canopus AVCD A-D bridges. Their AVCD-110 is a great unit, that interfaces between the VHS deck and the computer (FireWire here), and does a great job of digitizing the material. You will want to do this capture into DV-AVI Type II files w/ 48KHz 16-bit PCM/WAV audio. The AVCD-300 offers more time base corrections, and can pay the difference with just a few tapes vs the time to do corrections in the NLE. Both are well worth the investment. I would stay very clear of any Dazzle, or Pinnacle capture device (card, or box). Few ever get them to work correctly. There are some A-D cards out there, but their prices are about the same as the Canopus "boxes," and many produce files with OOS (Out Of Sync) issues. Also, some will NOT capture as DV-AVI Type II, so there are other problems, as well.
Now, if you happen to have a video camera with pass-through capabilities, you can use that to digitize your VHS tapes. However, they are becoming rare, and are almost non-existence in Europe/UK, because of a higher VAT on them. Most models there remove that capability, even if the US version has it. Check first.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Project made on Version 6 doesn't open on vesrsion 7

I would like to open a FCP project from version 6 on my new FCP version7. The trick is, I onlwant to open the "old" FCP project to send the programme to Color. When I try to import the FCP project it asks meTHE FILE PROJECT OF THIS PROJECT IS FROM AN EARLIER VERSION. WOULD YOU LIKE TO UPDATE THIS PROJECT FILE ? I then press NO and obviously the project doesn't open
I need to keep the file in an older version, because I need to send it back to an earlier version of FCP. My Q after all this in a very succinct manner is : How can I open a version 6 project on a new version on my version 7, without affecting anything?
    Thanks

Click "Yes." If you don't allow it to update the file, then FCP won't open the project. You have to let it update the file.
I need to keep the file in an older version, because I need to send it back to an earlier version of FCP
Then what you do in this case is export an XML of the sequence you are working on, or of the entire project. Version 4 for FCP 6.

  • I just opened an "old" project in a newer version of iPhoto and the pages in the book doubled in number with the seam in the middle of each page.  Suggestions?

I just opened an "old" project in a newer version of iPhoto and the pages in the book doubled in number with the seam in the middle of each page.  Suggestions?

    Start with Try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file delete the contents the following folder:
    User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto/
    Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: For Mavericks, 10.9,  go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
where you can check the Show Library Folder checkbox.
If that doesn't help continue with:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
    2 - Run Option #4, Rebuild Database.

  • Opening Captivate 2 Project in Version 3...Error

I apologize if this issue has already been raised; however,
    I'm getting an
error when opening a CP2 file in CP3. This was originally a
    version 1
project, which was opened in version two for some minor
    changes. I need to
make two minor tweaks and can't. The file size is
    approximately 9 MB.
Allows me to overwrite or save as a different file name. I
    have tried both.
A message appears: "Exception Occored" followed by "Adobe
    Captivate could
not open "filename.cp" because it is either not a supported
    file type or
because the file has been damaged..."
I can open the file in version 2 without difficulty. I want
    to use version 3
because I heard that the final .swf file will be smaller
    (also, I don't want
to continue using 2 for some projects and 3 for others).
Any clue as to what is going on and how I can get the file
    into version 3?
    Thanks!

Thanks! This worked for me. Another question...the size of
    the cp file is
500KB larger, but the compiled version is slightly smaller.
    It looks as
though some of the images in the library were duplicated to
    be used for
different backgrounds. Has anyone tried inserting the
    original background
and deleting the duplicate? Has it caused problems?
    Thanks!
