Opening SAN volume snapshot

Hello,
I have an HP 4300(formerly lefthand) SAN. I also have the VSA software running on a separate box. I do remote snapshot copies to the VSA server. If I wanted to get access to the remote snapshot volume(which ends up being an NSS volume), what's the best way to do this? Should I have a separate test edirectory environment? I reluctant to fire it up on a production box through NSSMU because it may be presenting itself with the same NSS volume information as the production volume.

Should work, although you may have issues with the trustee rights if your test tree doesn't have the same user list/layout as your prod eDir.
However, I've taken SAN snapshots and mounted them on OTHER file servers without any problem all the time in our production system. The only thing to be careful of as Jesse mentioned is that you don't present that to the SAME server (ie, you can't present the same VOL1 volume to the SAME server, but multiple servers can have VOL1 mounted on them).
One gotcha is if you are presented a Clustered volume. You'll need to run NSSMU and make it non-shareable if you are mounting the snapshotted one on a non-clustered server.

  • Disable every single web fonts in adobe muse and prevent it from loading open-sans:n3:all.js

I'm using Adobe Muse 2014.2 to build a Chinese site. The audience of the site is mainly people in mainland china, and I'm using a server from Hong Kong. Recently I just tested the site, however, it was loading extremely slow. In the end I found out that the cause of the slow loading was due to a file called "open-sans:n3:all.js" that was loaded from adobe webfonts.
Because a lot of sites are blocked in China, I think that Adobe Web Fonts (or typekit) is also blocked thus can't be loaded properly, causing the entire site to slow down.
Is there a way to disable all the webfonts in Muse and to prevent my site from loading this file?
Or is there a way I can host this file on my own server?
    Thanks in advance.

This was a snapshot that my friend in China sent to me. You can see that the open-sans:n3:all.js is taking extremely long to load.
Yet the funny thing is that I did not use any web fonts in my site. However Muse is still adding it in the code for some reason.

When I start Photoshop I get a message like "could not open a volume...." and "could not initialize Photoshop"
photoshop did create an empty "Adobe Photoshop X64 CS6 Prefs.psp" in "C:\Users\users\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6\Adobe Photoshop CS6 Settings"

how can I use Photoshop for the first time?

Th00ht have you tried creating a new standard user account to see if you experience the same difficulties there?  The fact that Photoshop is launching successfully under your administrator account would seem to indicate that the User account you are currently using might be too restrictive to allow you to launch the application.

  • Since upgrading to Firefox 33, The open sans font did not display correctly when specified by a website.

Some of the vertical lines in the fonts are double width like a mixture of bold and normal font weight. I have hardware accellaration disabled. The problem is not fixed when I change default font settings. The problem is not resolved be resetting zoom to 0.
Inspect Element identifies the problem happens when the website selects open Sans. If I stop sites selecting fonts and force the defaults I don not get the problem. Therefore the problem is with Firefox 33.1 rendering certain fonts specified by websites.
My machine is windows vista and Open Sans is not shown in the font list. However this was not a problem with previous versions of Firefox.
I did need to do a reset of firefox parameters during the upgrade to 33 so maybe ther eis some other parameter which needs changing to help render fonts which are not loaded on the machine?

  • Open Sans (Typekit font) rendering incorrectly in browsers causing unwanted paragraph reflowing

We use Open Sans throughout our website. I have it set up in Muse how I want it, but when exporting to FTP I'm getting a lot  of text reflowing. Muse seems to be increasing word spacing on export, enough that even over a short 5 line paragraph of around 50 words reflows by 3 or 4 words onto the next line, which is messing up my spacing. The font itself also looks a lot thinner in Google Chrome than the same page in Internet Explorer, almost enough to look like the Thin variant. Can someone from Adobe please look into this? Because what I'm seeing in Muse is definitely not what I'm getting in the browser.
    Muse:

    Internet Explorer:
EDIT* Actually now I've put those images above each other it looks like Muse is also changing the column width on export.

for Right-Aligned Spry Horizontal Menu bar, IE8 incorrectly renders it on the left after prompting for running scripts or ActiveX controls.
here's the css file:  THE ONLY THING CHANGED WAS THE FLOAT DIRECTION in ul.MenuBarHorizontal li (left to right)
....  so what am i missing in getting a horizontal spry menu on the right side of page?
When you right float the container (LI) for each menu item, some browsers will do exactly that, float the first menu item to the right, place the second menu item left to that and so forth. Other browsers (IE) will not react to a right float of the container (LI).
The only way to right float the complete menubar is to use the complete container (UL). As with any float, the width has to be specified.
    Hence in your case,
change ul.MenuBarHorizontal li back to left float
add a width (32em) and a right float to ul.MenuBarHorizontal

  • Open Sans Condensed not rendering right

    Hi community
I'm building a website using (partially) Google webfont 'Open Sans Condensed'. Also my website is in Greek.
In Chrome and Firefox the font is rendered correctly, in Safari it's not rendered at all.
On the iPad & iPhone (tested in Chrome & Safari) it only renders the latin characters right, the greek are not.
    Any ideas???
    Here's what it looks like:

    UPDATE on the issue!!!
Several people with similar issues (in other forums) recommended this:
"If 'Open Sans Condensed' is installed on the computer, disable it in Font Book. Should solve the problem."
    Result:
In fact it does effect the come out, but doesn't solve the problem!!!
Now Safari (desktop) renders the font the same way as the iPad (only latin characters are right) Greek is still not working.
I couldn't expect the visitors of my website to NOT have the font installed, also this solution wouldn't work on iPad anyway.
    Any other suggestions?

  • I Use Open Sans - Web Safe Font And The Text Turns Into An Image. Why?

When I use Open Sans the text becomes an image and when I use Arial it is text. How do I save Open Sans as text?

Open Sans is available as an Edge Web font.
Which section of the Font menu did you select Open Sans from? If it was selected from the "System Fonts" section of the font menu then it will output as an image. To use the Web Font version, click "Add Web Fonts..." in the font menu then choose "Open Sans" from the available Edge Web Fonts.

  • Can't mount SAN volume 'cause it already shows mounted.. but it's not

after controller 1 had a problem and controller 2 took over, one volume on one client (of 6) won't mount.
all volumes on all other clients OK..
the error says it's already mounted and looking at
    ls -al /Volumes
    it's there..
looking at df , it's not
    looking at finder, it's not
running diskutil unmount , it's not
    (or mount -u)
so I can't unmount what's there cause it's not there and I can't mount what's not mounted cause it thinks it already is mounted .
    any ideas ??

after a MDC fail-over the finder sometimes creates an alias file with the name of the san volume. after all it's a broken alias.
disconnect the FC cable. in the finder (or terminal), go to /Volumes and remove the broken alias file.

  • Why is my Greek Open Sans displaying as serifed?

I have built a website for a client http://charlesalexiou.com/ He wants some words in Greek. I used Open Sans, a Google font which includes Greek characters. It is a non-serifed font.
In Firefox it displays with serifs, both on a Mac, which I have, and a PC, which my client is testing the site on.
It is a WordPress site, which is optimised to use Google fonts, and I have no other issues with Google fonts I've used displaying just fine in Firefox. Even so, I added this code to the header: <link href='http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Open+Sans&subset=latin,greek-ext,greek' rel='stylesheet' type='text/css'>
<meta charset="<?php bloginfo('charset'); ?>"> Just to be sure. I have also contacted the theme developers who are looking into it.
The Greek characters display properly in Open Sans in Safari and Chrome. They are serifed in Firefox (I'm using version 22) and IE10.
Is there anything else I can do? I desperately need to be able to have this website display perfectly across all browsers.
    Thank you
    Fergie

    Hi Cor-el,
This is the Open Sans font and apparently it has Greek support:
I did check before I selected it to use on the website.
Scroll down and you'll see Greek characters. It also has an extended Greek subset which I put a link to in the header of the website.
    Cheers
    Fergie

Any one have any clues ????

    Hi!
I encountered a problem a few weeks ago which is a bit like yours. In my case my Apple ID stopped working after I upgraded to Mountain Lion. I finally found out it was because of the fact that my Apple ID has in fact been an alias within my much older MobileMe/iCloud account. And they weren't able to merge or reset the account at first. It took me a lot of mails and a few calls to get them to resetting the account and changing my Apple ID (for the Apple Store, iTunes, etc.) to a different, non-iCloud related email adress.
Anyway, maybe you can call the Apple Support and kindly ask them to reset the password for this ominous @me.com account so you can finally start using it.
Did you try logging into iCloud using your adress with the appendix @me.com because not everybody has got the @icloud.com ending yet. Technically it's no problem to create a new iCloud account. I can understand though that you'd like to get "your name" back .

  • SAN Volume Question..

    Dear All,
what will happen if the SAN Volume was mounted on the client machines and suddenly one FC connector (SFP) disconnects from one of the XRAIDs ????
    Could you advise please,
    Thanks,
    Waddah

Your volume temporarily goes down. Make sure you have your setup in a protected area (server room that had limited access, for example) and that people who don't know what they're doing aren't messing around with it. Also have notifications enabled to tell you when something happens.
Now when I say it goes down, it doesn't mean you lose all the data -- replace the cable and it will come back up (you might have to reboot the Primary MDC, but that's rare instance, if it all).

  • Can't convert case after moving a GW SAN volume from NetWare

I have am just about done migrating my GroupWise 8.0.3 systems from NetWare to OES Linux and have saved my largest PO for last. This is the only PO using a SAN volume. My plan is to just move the volume from the NetWare box the my new Linux (OES) server.
    To test this process:
    - I created a new SAN volume on my NetWare box and made a copy of the post office.
    - I moved the volume to my new Linux server.
    - I ran nssmu on the Linux box and did a F4 Refresh eDirectory for the pool and volume.
All good so far. The pool and volume are accessible. When I run a dbcopy -l /<path to postoffice> to convert to lower case I get the following:
    [272] Failed to rename file /media/nss/RESTORE/ZOOPO.BAK/offiles/fd12/50FFFDB7.00G to /media/nss/RESTORE/ZOOPO.BAK/offiles/fd12/50fffdb7.00g Error=8201
If I try to manually rename one of the upper case files it also fails:
    zoo-msg3:/media/nss/RESTORE/ZOOPO.BAK # mv WPHOST.DB wphost.db
mv: `WPHOST.DB and `wphost.db are the same file
So is it the case that you dont need to do a case conversion if the post office and/or domain are on NSS volumes?

In addition to what Massimo says about not really needing to rename the
files if you are on long namespace, the -l is a dangerous switch and
should rarely be used by a human.
    http://www.caledonia.net/important-d...ercase-switch/
You actually ran it with the proper syntax. So you would not experience
data loss. But -l should be used with caution. And NEVER while the POA is
loaded. But it really should be run after the files are already the proper
case on the disk. Its real job is to make the guardian DB all lowercase and
only secondarily to attempt to rename files. I myself never use it to
    attempt a file rename.
Personally I DO like to have the files all lowercase, even on NSS. You
never know when you need to pick up your data and stick it on a native
Linux volume. Search for chcase and there are a few windows utilities that
can do this for you. Just map a drive to the NSS volume. If you DO change
the case with a utility, then you can run the dbcopy -l but make sure the
    POA is unloaded.
