Opening stationery items creates duplicate copy

Hi: We moved from OS X Server 10.3.x to Leopard Server and since then I have noticed the reoccurrence of a problem we used to have in the early days of 10.3 Server, namely that when a client machine opens a document designated 'stationery pad' status, it actually creates a duplicate and opens that. As a consequence our server is becoming cluttered with duplicate items of stationery.
Am I alone in this or have others had the same experience and if so, what was the fix?

It has a rectangle in it's master page. When I override it. It creates a copy on top. Didn't notice it at first until I resized and moved it. The not-overridden version was still present. Positioned like it is in the master page and locked on the first page so it can be overridden once more.
When I move it in the master page, resize it, remove the effect, drag it more to the left... al these things help. When I then override it on page 1, no copy is made. When I reposition it at that location or further to the right, when I give it the same dimension again or lager... then I get the duplicates again.
Can you try it? Overriding the object on page one and moving it to the left? To see whether the master page item is still present which can be overridden once more so there are two objects (and again the master page item intact)?

Thank you for your response. Assets are not my area so I’m not sure if I missed a transaction or step in the process. I tested this out by doing the following steps:
Created AUC Asset class with line item checked
Assigned PM Order type as non-investment with no investment profile and created order number
Created a main asset number
Created an AUC sub asset number to step 3
Created settlement rule to sub asset number on order
Posted costs to order
Settled from order to AUC with transaction KO88
Created distribution rules for asset with transaction AIAB
Settled from sub asset to main asset number with transaction AIBU
When I settled from the sub to the main asset number in step 9, I found I lost the line item detail. Is there another configuration setting I need to make to allow me to see the line item detail when I use AIBU?

Outlook 2013 won't open calendar items created on Outlook 2007

I have a user that recently got office 2013 pro plus on his computer. We created a new profile and connected him to exchange 2010. Now when he tries to open up a calendar item that was created prior to the 2013 install it just spins and you have
to cancel outlook. He can create new calendar items and then open them up again but any item that was created with 2007 locks up.
Any ideas?

Hi Jason,
I agreed with ED's point. If everything in your mailbox can work well in OWA and Outlook 2007, the mailbox in your server side should be healthy and configured properly.
Personal opinion, I suggest that we can try another computer with Outlook 2013 to check whether the issue persists. Also start Outlook by using Outlook /safe and Outlook /cleanprofile switches to have a try.

I have debugged whole program and found when there is single line item everything is fine & when i clicked on Duplicate Selected Item the value of GR_NON_VAL indicator set in first line item and second Items indicator as it is blank .Where single line Item indicator was blank .
When I am copying the line item than its working OK .
Due to mismatch in items followinng program raise error message .
PERFORM downward_inheritance USING p_hgp_ecom
 p_hgp_icom
 p_guid
 p_object_type
 p_itm_icom
 ls_igp_icom
 p_changed
 CHANGING ls_header.
Is there any idea why system behaving like this ?

Open in... - creating duplicates?

Can anyone let me know if opening a PDF using the "open in ..." creates a duplicate file on my iPad? I'm trying to understand if I open a from PDF Evernote in good reader if I've now created a duplicate (or anything of the other apps I had that can read PDFs - dropbox, kindle, docstogo, etc). The PDFs I'm reading aren't that big - but I'd rather not be creating duplicates and using up iPad space.

When you have opened the file in the app of your choice you can then delete it from the previous location if you so wish.
For example if you get a PDF as an attachment to an email and you open it in iBooks or Goodreader etc, you can then delete the email and attachment.

Item Quantity not Copied exactly from sales order while creating Invoice

My Functional Guy encountered a strange problem while creating Invoice from Sales Document.Actually there are 6 line material items in the order and the sixth line item is having a quantity of 8EA While trying to generate an invoice from sales order the sixth line item billed quantity gets converted to 70EA automatically in the invoice .This only happens with the sixth line item and the remaining all are fine.I have checked OSS Notes and could not get a.ny fruitful results.Please let me know if you have any suggestions.I also checked with the functional guy whether its the problem due to copy controls.But everything is fine.Please help

Are your invoices combing multiple delivery line items based upon copy control/invoice split/combine configuration settings?
If your order was for 8 and you delivered 8, and there is no conversion for units, and the only quantity being included is for a single order line and delivery line, then there must be an error in customer-written exit or enhancement code that you have yet to find. What do you see in debug when the data for this line is being collected and set?

Our HR person made a help file she wants to email to someone or copy to a network share.
-If she emails it the other person cannot open it.
-If she copies it even from her desktop where she saved it to the folder with all the other files, it opens blank.

I think they must be swapping out .html for .chm in DW or something. What the OP describes sure sounds like what happens when you do that.

DW doesn't support .chm file types. Adding the extension doesn't compress the images into the file to create a true .chm.
Adding .chm will make a perfectly good .html file stop displaying in DW though.
An easier way to send someone .html help files would be to archive their folder as a .zip then email the .zip. The recipient would then need to extract the archive to view the files in their browser.
I don't know of any way to create real .chm files in DW.

Does copying in music files create duplicates?

After installing iTunes 11 I found that my music and video were all listed with the ! (exclamation mark) and I had no access to them and the message "the original file cannot be found....." (Only the few that I had bought from the iTunes store were still accessible - the ones copied from CDs etc were not). I tried to locate the orignal files but it seemed that the music and video files were nowhere to be found. So I copied in my 1,080 music files and 16 video files from an external back up, and it now works ok. But by copying in the music and video files have I now created duplicates? Are the original files still hidden somewhere taking up space on my HD? How would I check on that?

Normally an installation should not delete files. Occasionally people here have reported it did for them. Since it shouldn't, we don't know why it would. It's good you had a backup.
If you use iTunes default preference settings (i.e., if you have not changed them you do) it should put all your media in a Media folder in your Music > iTunes. Since you are seeing ! something has happened to cause the reference in the main iTunes library database file to have a bad reference for where your media files are located. So either the files have gone missing or were moved (by you) to a place where iTunes' addressbook is incorrect, or something happened during the updating of the library file to result in bad references.
Look in your iTunes Media folder and see how many copies you have of files. Use Spotlight to search for a track you know exists and see if there is more than one copy on your computer.
If you now have a lot of dead links in your library look at: Super Remove Dead Tracks - http://dougscripts.com/212 then type "super remove dead" into the search line to get to the free Applescript rather than the app.

ITunes Consolidation: Will it create duplicates of media files if they already exist in the new itunes destination folder but arent being referenced by the itunes library?

I have a macbook pro from fall 2010. I have been using my external HD as my primary itunes folder for the past 7 yrs ( i.e it is organized by itunes default categorization, etc). However, there is some overlap between my external HD itunes folder and my comps original itunes folder (probably 20-30% of my current library's media files were already duplicated there from when i first bought the HD and transferred files to the external, however they are mostly referenced from the external now). Also there are files in the comp's itunes folder that are not on my external (probably due to organizational mishaps and podcast downloads when not connected to the external, etc). I do not know how many files this is the case for.
Recently, i decided that i wanted to consolidate all of my itunes music into one concise folder on my macbook's HD to avoid these issues going forward. I also just bought a new external which i will use to back up my comp's itunes folder once i consolidate everything to the comp. But i plan on using the itunes folder on the comp going forward or at least using the consolidate fcn to avoid these issues.
Here is my dilemma. Prior to learning of the consolidate feature today, I changed the default itunes folder in settings to the original itunes folder on the macbook and then manually dragged all of the media files from my external itunes folder to the macbook's itunes folder. There were a ton of duplicates or overlapping folders with similar artist names, so i opted to have them merge all folders where possible. After doing this, i realized the itunes library still references these files that i dragged and dropped from the external since that is where my default itunes folder used to be. At that point i then read and learned of the consolidate itunes feature which seems like the best way to do this. But i am afraid that if i consolidate my library to my macbook's itunes folder now, will it create duplicates of the 4000 + media files i just dragged to the macbook's itunes folder which are already in the itunes library but being referenced from the old external??
Question: Is there a way that i can make these files i just dragged to the macbook's itunes folder become the ones referenced by the itunes library through the consolidate feature without creating duplicates of these 4000+ files? I want to avoid having three copies of these files (two duplicates in the itunes and the originals on the external). Furthermore, is there a best way to find out which files in the macbook's itunes folder are not being included in the library after consolidating everything to the computer's HD? Then after that, what is the best way to start backing this all up to my new external, so that this overlapping issue doesnt happen again? Im assuming i just need to make sure to consolidate first when changing itunes folders going forward. Thank you. I know that was a lot to read but hopefully someone can help with this issue.

In general:
- The best way to check if files are in a library is to drag the whole media folder to the library. If something was missed it will be added. If it is in the library is won't be added a second time.
- If you have a second copy of a file and iTunes does not currently list that specific file in its database then even if it is identical to one already in the database it will add it a second time. So if you have file xyz on the internal drive and the external drive and add them to iTunes you will end up with two entries for the same thing in iTunes because you really do have to copies of the files. While this can happen with two copies on a single drive, it will almost definitely be the case when you have a copy of a file on two drives because iTunes really sees them as two different things.
-Unless you know how iTunes works, avoid moving files yourself. Let the consolidate feature do all the file moving. Manually moving files can really mess up iTunes unless you know what you are doing and have iTunes set to not try to do it itself.
- There's no clean and easy way to delete duplicates. The best thing is to change practice so you don't create them. Here are references:

Open Line Item Management in G/L Account

FI Experts,
Our previous consultant created all G/L accounts with Line Item Display not taking into account clearing accounts. Our problem is that we now can't run G/L reports because they time out due to the amount of Line Items as Open Items because we can't clear them to only Open Line Items. I tried checking the Open Line Item Display but it does not allow me because entries are already posted.
Question,
Can anyone advise what will be the best way to fix this? Do I have to create a new G/L account with corerct settings? and then transfer the line items from one account to another? if yes how can I transfer.

I found some interesting info.
I did teh following:
1- I had ABAPer create a copy of program RFSEPA02
2- I blocked the account in FS00 at Company Level
3- Then I ran the Z version program copied by ABAPer
4- Entered the G/L account, ran it in teh background
5- After completed went back and unblock account to my surprise Open Item management was flagged

Hi. I just found a good way of doing this from a program. It sort of uses BDC but in such a way that you don't get all the problems you normally get with BDC.
First create a custom program with an internal table called YBSID of type BSID, and select into it from BSID the items you want to clear, 1 customer at a time. You must call your internal table YBSID.
Then you need to populate a BDC table with very basic data, the easiest way to do it is to set a break-point in form "CALL_TRANSACTION" of include F124_MERGE, then run F.13, it will break at this point and you can copy the contents of BDCDTAB.
Then in your custom program put the same statement as the include "EXPORT YBSID TO MEMORY ID '%F124%'." then call transaction 'FB1D' using the BDC table.
What this does is clear exactly whatever data you put in YBSID. It uses the transaction FB1D but all the clearing data is already populated from YBSID. If you call a transaction normally it is very hard to select the right items to clear, using YBSID you only enter 1 screen and do not have to select anything.
You can also use this same method to clear vendor line items using YBSIK and transaction FB1K and G/L line items using YBSIS and FB1S.

How do I prevent Lightroom from creating duplicates if the edit in photoshop is not saved?
So... Quite often I choose to 'Edit in photoshop' from Lightroom but then end up not saving the result. (for example, because I just wanted to experiment with the photo, or I'm not satisfied with the results)
However, Lightroom always creates a copy of the original photo, which stays in the catalog even if the photoshop changes aren't saved.
Is there a way to stop this, and only add a photo if it has been edited in PS?

Select 'Open the Image in PS as a Smart Object'. The image will be rendered by ACR in memory without being written to disc until you save it from within PS.

Move/Duplicate/Copy

Ok, so essentially I'm trying to write a script so that I can batch process a whole bunch of .SVG files.
The .SVG files come from a variety of sources... some open very cleanly with nice layer structure, etc... others open with completely wacked clipping masks grouped dozens of times, etc.... So, I need to try and "normalize" the .SVG with a batch process.
Basically the "normalizing" process I'm trying to use involves:
1. "Flattening" the layer structure by ungrouping any nested layers.
1b. Moving all art objects into a single GroupItem.
2. Move/Duplicate/Copy the GroupItem to a new Document with a predefined Artboard size.
3. Re-sizing and positioning the GroupItem on the new Artboard based on some criteria.
Anyway, I'm kind of mystified as to the best way to accomplish this, so I'm trying all kinds of things...
I thought the simplest way to get all the artwork to the new Document would be to use the move() or duplicate() methods.
However, I keep getting 'MRAP' errors for this line:
item.move(newDoc.activeLayer, ElementPlacement.INSIDE);
In the CS5 JavaScript Reference, the object parameter is referred to as a "relativeObject".
Does this mean that you can only move() or duplicate() an item within the SAME document?
Is the app.copy() and app.paste() methods the only way to move art from one Document to another?

Well, I think I found the cause of the 'MRAP' errors... I had my looping logic screwed up, so I essentially was trying to either:
1. Move something that didn't exist.
2. Move something that does exist into something that doesn't exist.
3. Move something that does exist into itself.
Also, fixing that allowed me to use the move() method to move art items (or a GroupItem) from one document to another.
I didn't test it, but I imagine duplicate() would work as well. Both these seem to me to be more desireable than the app.copy() method.
Also, a few notes to anyone trying to do something similar for prosterity sake:
- Moving artwork within a document will reset the PageItem indexes, e.g. doc.pageItems[index]
- If you remove all the artwork from a GroupItem, the GroupItem will remain in doc.pageItems unless you call app.redraw()
- If you're trying to "flatten" some random amount of artwork, CompoundPathItems (as well as GroupItems) and their respective PathItems actually take up separate indexes of the doc.pageItems array. For example:
doc.pageItems[5] // myCompoundPathItem
doc.pageItems[6] // PathItem contained in myCompoundPathItem // Also: doc.pageItems[5].pathItems[0]
doc.pageItems[7] // another PathItem contained in myCompoundPathItem // Also: doc.pageItems[5].pathItems[1]
doc.pageItems[8] // a PathItem NOT contained in myCompoundPathItem
