Opening table crashes acrobat plugin---is my table lost?

I have a table that many colleagues have entered information in. Over the weekend, my boss entered her comments on her personal computer and now when any one tries to open the table, it crashes the adobe plugin. I am very worried that this means all the data in the table is lost. Can adobe send me a .csv or earlier version of the table? Please let me know my options.
Thank you!

Hi,
Please share the form to me ([email protected]), and I'll take a look.
Thanks,
Todd

  • Calling AVDocClose with more than one PDF open crashes Acrobat

    That pretty much sums it up. If I have a single PDF open and I call AVDocClose everything works great. If I have more than one PDF open it crashes Acrobat and takes down all of the open documents. Any ideas as to what might be happening and how to get around it? I'm seeing it in both Acrobat 8 and Acrobat 9.

    Okay, that sounds ike it could be something to look at. I'm certainly not an expert in using the SDK so maybe you can help me identify the potential issue. This is the code I'm using with some comments to help you understand what I'm doing. I just added the ASFileSysReleasePath references after reading your post but apparently I'm still missing something. The issue occurs in the code path where I'm working with local documents.
    ACCB1 void ACCB2 MyPluginCommand_Save(void *clientData)
    initializeVariables();
    if(myAVDoc==NULL)
    // if no doc is loaded, display a message.
    AVAlertNote("There is no PDF document loaded in Acrobat.");
    else
    //Here are a couple of functions that are just used to set up some file paths for both windows and acrobat
    string docName = getDocName();
    string path = buildAcroPath(docName);
    ASPathName upPath = ASFileSysCreatePathFromCString(NULL,path.c_str());
    //call doc exists to see if we have a local doc or one that is in control of my DMS - doesn't use any Acrobat SDK functions
    bool ndExists = ndDocExists(filename);
    if(!ndExists) //if the file is not from the DMS
    //save this file to a temporary location - this is what actually gets sent to the DMS
    PDDocSave(pdDoc, PDSaveFull | PDSaveCopy | PDSaveCollectGarbage , upPath, ASGetDefaultFileSys(), NULL, NULL);
    //send the document to the DMS and get the status of the operation back - doesn't use any Acrobat SDK functions
    int ndStatus = ndImport(path);
    checkNDStatus(ndStatus);
    else
    //This is a document from the DMS. Just do a regular file save
    PDDocSave(pdDoc, PDSaveFull | PDSaveCollectGarbage , pathName, ASGetDefaultFileSys(), NULL, NULL);
    ASFileSysReleasePath(ASGetDefaultFileSys(), upPath);
    ASFileSysReleasePath(ASGetDefaultFileSys(), pathName);

  • Why does the Adobe Acrobat plugin crash everytime I open a PDF?

    I am currently running the Firefox 11.0, which is the most up-to-date version as of this writing. Every time I open a PDF file, it says that "Adobe Acrobat plugin has crashed". I have Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro, which came as part of my school's standard software package. The Mozilla website says I have the most up-to-date version of the Acrobat plugin.
    P.S. I recently updated my version of Adobe Reader X to try to fix the problem, but that didn't work. I'm not entirely sure how Reader is related to Acrobat, so I don't know if that would affect my ability to read PDFs in Firefox.

    hi WDWPhishFan,
    Have you looked at [[The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed]] and [[Opening PDF files within Firefox]]?
    The first article has a lot of good troubleshooting steps that might help. The second article actual lists a couple of plugins that can be used for opening PDF files. I'd give both of them a try just in case.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • Adobe Acrobat plugin keep crashing

    Every time I try to view a pdf in Firefox, I get an error message stating that the Adobe Acrobat plugin has crashed.

    '''mtnharry''' (or anyone else with this problem) maybe this will help:
    ===The Adobe Acrobat plugin has crashed===
    You can get this error when both Adobe Reader X and Adobe Acrobat are installed. You can resolve the problem as follows:
    #Open the Adobe Reader X application
    #Go to''' Edit''' -> '''Preferences'''
    #Under Categories (on the left) select '''General''' (near the top)
    #Click the button '''Select Default PDF Handler''' (at the bottom)
    #Under "Select Adobe Product", open the drop-down menu and click "Adobe Reader X".
    #Click "Apply", then close Adobe Reader X

  • I have updated my Adobe Acrobat plugin three times today but the firefox plugin check says it is out of date, a problem as I repeatedly encounter "The Adobe Acrobat plugin has crashed" when I attempt to download pdfs.

    I am attempting to download pdf's from a library search on JSTOR. I can view the pdf but cannot download them as they say "The Adobe Acrobat plugin has crashed". I have been to the firefox plugin check and have updated Adobe Acrobat three times in the last hour, but it still says my plugin is not up to date. This leads me to believe that this may be the source of my crash errors.
    I updated Adobe Flash from the same firefox plugin check page and after one try it now says I am up to date, so my system is obviously accepting these updates.
    Help!!!!!

    The following solution is useful for people who have the full version of Acrobat 9, but are getting the error message "the Adobe Acrobat plugin has crashed". You probably want the features in the full version of Acrobat, but still need to be able to open PDF files from your Firefox browser.
    Go to Tools > Options > Applications. Scroll down and change all of the Adobe Acrobat files to open with Acrobat 9 (or whatever version you have) instead of "Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox)". This may not be as handy as having it use Acrobat inside the Firefox browser, but it will still let you open PDF files without having to uninstall the full version of Acrobat. Hope this helps.

  • Adobe Acrobat plugin crashes every time

    Any time I try to open any pdf, it will open for a millisecond and then the Adobe Acrobat plugin will crash. I view pdfs on the web all day long at my job so this is a big issue. I just started using Firefox about 1 week ago after an absence and noticed the pdf problem immediately when I updated to 9.0.1 yesterday.

    I did find a "work around" several days back. I had Acrobat Pro and Acrobat Reader on my machine. I found if I uninstalled Acrobat Reader, that fixed the problem.
    I will check out the 2 links you posted, reinstall Acrobat Reader, see what happens and post...

  • "Failed to open the connection" problem related to multiple tables in the report?

    Post Author: Gadow
    CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
    System specifics:
    Web environment using ASP.Net 2.0 (from Visual Studio 2005 Professional)
    Crystal Reports 2008, v. 12.0.0.549, Full
    We have set up the following method for displaying reports via our website:
    User is sent to a report-specific page. The user is given some filtering options specific to the report that will be viewed. When the user has specified the data filters, the user clicks a button.
    The page wraps up the report parameters -- selection query, formula values, report location, the name to be displayed, etc. -- into a class which gets put into the Session object.
    The page redirects to DisplayReport.aspx. ALL reports redirect to this page.
    DisplayReport.aspx retrieves the report parameters from Session. A ReportDocument object is created and loaded, then set with the data from the parameters class.
    A ConnectionInfo object is created and set with the relevant log on credentials. All of the reports draw from the same database, so the connection information is hard-coded as the same for all reports. The page then iterates through all of the tables in the Database.Tables collection of the ReportDocument and calls ApplyLogOnInfo to each table using the ConnectionInfo object.
    The page is rendered and the user gets the filtered report.
    We currently have seven reports. Five reports work fine and display the correctly filtered data with no error messages. Two reports generate a Failed to open the connection error and do not display. I have verified that the queries being sent to DisplayReport.aspx are valid, and as I said the connection information itself is hard-coded in the one page that displays the reports and this is identical to all reports.
    The five reports that do work all have a single data table, either an actual database table or a single view. The two reports that do not work all have multiple tables. As far as I can tell, this is the only difference between the sets; all seven reports are based on the same DSN and I have verified the database on all of the reports. All of the reports were written using Crystal Reports 8, and all of the reports display fine in a Windows app I wrote some years ago using Crystal Reports 8. Again, the only difference between those reports that do work and those that do not is the number of tables used in the report: one table or view in the reports that display, more than one table (tables only, none use views) in the reports that do not display.
    As for the code I am using, below are the relevant methods. The function MakeConnectionInfo simply parses out the components of a standard SQL connection string into a ConnectionInfo object. DisplayedReport is the ID of the CrystalReportViewer on the page.Protected Sub Page_Init(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs)
            Dim o As Object = Session("ReportParams")
            Dim ReportURL As String = ""
            'Verify that there is a ReportParameters object
            If o Is Nothing OrElse o.GetType IsNot GetType(ReportParameters) Then 'Redirect to the error page
                Response.Redirect("/errors/MissingReport.aspx")
            End If
            ReportParams = CType(o, ReportParameters)
            'Verify that the report exists
            ReportURL = "/Reports/ReportFiles/" + ReportParams.ReportName
            ReportPath = Server.MapPath(ReportURL)
            If Not File.Exists(ReportPath) Then
                Response.Redirect("/errors/MissingReport.aspx?Report=" + ReportParams.ReportTitle)
            End If
            InitializeReport()
        End Sub
        Protected Sub InitializeReport()
            Dim RD As New ReportDocument

            Dim RPF As CrystalDecisions.Shared.ParameterField = Nothing
            RD.Load(ReportPath)
            If ReportParams.SelectString <> "" Then
                Dim Adapt As New SqlDataAdapter(ReportParams.SelectString, DB_Bonus)
                Dim DS As New Data.DataSet
                Adapt.Fill(DS)
                RD.SetDataSource(DS.Tables(0))
            End If
            For Each kvp As KeyValuePair(Of String, String) In ReportParams.Formulas
                Dim FFD As FormulaFieldDefinition = Nothing
                Try
                    FFD = RD.DataDefinition.FormulaFields(kvp.Key)
                Catch ex As Exception
                    'Do nothing
                End Try
                If FFD IsNot Nothing Then
                    Select Case FFD.ValueType
                        Case FieldValueType.DateField, FieldValueType.DateTimeField
                            If IsDate(kvp.Value) Then
                                FFD.Text = String.Format("Date()", Convert.ToDateTime(kvp.Value).ToString("yyyy, MM, dd"))
                            Else
                                FFD.Text = "Date(1960, 01, 01)"
                            End If
                        Case FieldValueType.StringField
                            FFD.Text = String.Format("""""", kvp.Value)
                        Case Else
                            'For now, treat these as if they were strings. If things blow up here,
                            'we will need to add the appropriate formatting for the field type.
                            FFD.Text = String.Format("""""", kvp.Value)
                    End Select
                End If
            Next
            For Each T As CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.Table In RD.Database.Tables
                Dim TLI As TableLogOnInfo = T.LogOnInfo
                TLI.ConnectionInfo = CI
                T.ApplyLogOnInfo(TLI)
            Next
            DisplayedReport.ReportSource = RD
        End Sub
    Does this approach not work with reports containing multiple tables, or is there something I'm missing? Any meaningful suggestions would be much appreciated.

    6、I also did the test with the Access 2010,and with the Sql Srever/Oracle.
         The results are the follows.
    1) With the Access 2010(X86 or X64) and Access 2013 X86,it successes when I export the table to the DB Symfoware.But only with the Access 2013 X64,the Access crashed.
    2)With the Access 2010(X86 or X64) and Access 2013(X86 or X64),using the Sql Srever/Oracle,it always successes .
    According to all the descrived above, I wonder if it a bug of the Access2013 .
    Could anyone can help me ?
    Thanks for any help.

    George Zhao
    Thank you for your help.
    I have already install
    the latest patches of the Office 2013.But it doesn't work.It is down also too. And ODBC
    drive of Database Symfoware is the newest driver of the Database Symfoware. Now I wonder that
    if it si a bug of the  ODBC
    drive of Database Symfoware,I should fix the bug,but I have analysised the odbc trace log and I do not find any wrongs ,so I think maybe it is a bug of the Access .
    I have see many situations about the Access down on the internet .

  • Acrobat plugin, "external" links - how to open in _blank?

    I understand that the following questions may have been asked numerous times on this and other forums previously. Knowing that software capabilities constantly change with every new release, I wanted to clarify by gaining answers directly to the following questions.
    If a PDF document is displayed within the acrobat plugin in any web browser, is it possible to invoke a link within that PDF to open in a new browser window or tab rather than loading in the current window and navigating away from the PDF?
    Is there a cross browser solution for achieving this outcome?
    Our workflow for producing PDFs involves Indesign, is there a way we can implement this in the Indesign source by inserting Javascripts?
    If the answer to (1) and (2) is "No", are there any alternative options for achieving this?
    Any constructive insights/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    I think part of your problem might lie in the way you are trying to use your quotation marks.  It appears you are trying to have the single quotes do what double quotes should be doing.
    document.write("<a href='"+imagelinks[ry]+"' target='_blank'><img src='"+myimages[ry]+"' border='none'></a>
    If you want to have doublequotes appear in code as doublequote characters you can try slashing them to have them read literally... \"
    document.write("<a href=\""+imagelinks[ry]+"\" target=\"_blank\"><img src=\""+myimages[ry]+"\" border=\"none\"></a>

  • Open PDF files in Acrobat plugin by default in web browser.

    Hi,,
    I am looking for a solution to open a pdf form a website or form local computer in any bowser within Acrobat plugin. I know we need to configure manually in each browser to enable pdf to be open in Acroabt console. You can see it  here     But What I am actually looking forwad is a script or something. Like if we have a document javascript to enable Acrobat plugin automatically. Something like this, which can be done automatically, not manually.
    Please share your answers.
    Thanks

    Not possible. A script in a PDF can't influence the way the browser or the system works.

  • Corrupted innodb table crashing mysql instance how to recover table?

    Hello,
    Running a simple query against corrupted innodb table is crashing mysql instance .
    table test.xyz got corrupt during crash and truncate table command was in progressing when mysql crash , now
    running a simple select * query is also crashing db .
    mysql> use test;
    Database changed
    mysql> select * from xyz;
    ERROR 2013 (HY000): Lost connection to MySQL server during query

    Try to start mysql with innodb_force_recovery = 6
    Or to try to restore by means of the tool:
    MySql Recovery Toolbox and find out how you can use the corrupt MySQL recovery tool for damaged database restoration and easily repair known issues or already known problems, occurred in MySql files. This MySql repair utility offers many benefits
    like:
    Supports all MySql file versions and parses even very large documents on older PC computers;
    Supports primary and external keys, tables, views, indexes and other objects;
    Allows previewing recovered data in freeware mode so you can get results without purchasing MySql Recovery Toolbox

  • Acrobat Plugin should first open, then I want to stream a PDF

    Hi,
    when I stream a PDF (which is packaged in a ByteArrayOutputStream) to the Browser, the Acrobat Reader plugin opened not until the whole document
    is loaded. Is there a header, or anything else I have to set in my servlet to make sure that first the Acrobat plugin open and then the streaming starts. I need this behaviour, because if my user have a slow internet connection, he should have the chance to see the first page of the document during the rest of the document is still loaded in the backround.
    code:
    //document = PDF as ByteArrayOutputStream
    ServletOutputStream servletOut = response.getOutputStream();
    response.setContentType("application/pdf");
    response.setContentLength(document.size());
    document.writeTo(servletOut);
    response.flushBuffer();
    servletOut.flush();

    So that's my last post to this topic. For all, which have a similar problem, in future : It's not a Java problem, it's a problem of the PDF document. If you want the behaviour that the Acrobat Plugin opened first you have to make sure that you have a "Linearized PDF". I use iText to create a PDF, but it's a pity that iText don't support Linearization.

  • Problem running Acrobat.exe from acrobat plugin in IE

    hi,
    In another discussion, regarding signing pdf in Internet explorer, i am awaiting a reply to a very imp question. In the mean time, asuming that it cannot be done in a standard way, as we have used PDDoc allover the plugin and in IE PDDoc is only accessible in callback methods, i have tried to implement a work around, where i save the PDF to local disk and open it in acrobat.exe.
    i do the following:
    Register for PDDocDidOpen notification.
    In PDDocDidOpen notification i save the AVDoc globally for later use.
    then in IdleHandler callback, i use the globally save AVDoc to call PDDocSave() method to save the online pdf to local disk.
    and in the PDDocDidSave() callback i use shellexecute to opend acrobat.exe to open the newly saved PDF.
    Problem:    The shellexecute opens up acrobat.exe showing the newly saved file, but if i click the empty field in the PDF or press any button, acrobat.exe crashes.
    I have tried placing shellexecute in differenct callbacks but no success.
    here is the shell execute.
    ShellExecute(NULL, "open", "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Adobe\\Acrobat 10.0\\Acrobat\\Acrobat.exe", "d:\\test.pdf", NULL, SW_SHOWNORMAL);
    I have opened a different pdf than the newly saved one instead, but still the crash exists.
    Do u have any idea what i might be doing wrong.
    Jahangir
