  • Having Trouble Opening TIFF Files

I'm having trouble opening TIFF files into Camera Raw. I have checked all my settings in Adobe Bridge and everything seems to be saying that TIFF files should open in Camera Raw when I click on then int and then into photoshop when finished editing in camera raw.
I'm trying to open 32 bit HDR images saved as a TIFF file into Camera Raw, and there seems to be nothing I can do to get them there. I have tried everything I can think of. When I right click on it (cmd click I'm on a mac) the option to open in camera Raw isn't there. I have tried clicking and dragging the image into Photoshop to try and force it maybe to open into Camera Raw, and I have opened photoshop and tried opeing it up from mini Bridge. In mini bridge I have the option to open the image into Camera Raw when I click this nothing happens.
I'm not sure what else to try I'm on CS6 and Camera Raw 7.0 .

    Alright I'll try that thanks!

It might be that you need to update camera raw to version 8.3 by going to Help>Updates from within photoshop or bridge.
(i don't remember exactly in which version of acr that was added, but probably after version 7.0)

  • Opening TIFF files from Safari mail

I have a Mini.mac using OS X 10.3.9 and am unable to open TIFF files. I am particularly interested in opening TIFF attachments from my E-mails. I have downloaded Graphic Converter but can't get it to do the job, neither will Preview. Can anyone please tell me whether there is an easy way to make my machine open TIFF files? And if so, a simple explanation (because I'm a simple man) of how to do it would be greatly appreciated.

kbwolf, you'll probably want to go to http://www.mactopia.com to do a search for issues with PowerPoint, Excel and Word as those are Microsoft products.

  • Will Adobe X open TIFF files by default.

Can Adobe X be set as default to open tiff files on Win 7 computer. .  If so .. how?

What is "Adobe X"? Do you mean Adobe Acrobat X, or Adobe Reader X? Either
way, they can't open TIFF files directly. Acrobat can convert Tiff files to
PDF files and then show them, and Reader can't do anything with them at all.

  • Not enough memory (RAM) error. Can't open TIFF file.

I can't open a 74MB TIFF file in CS5 photoshop.   I get error message: Could not complete your request because there is not enough memory (RAM).
I have 16GB of RAM and 55.5 GB of scratch disk.
I am using my recently installed copy of Photoshop CS5 64bit on a virtual Windows7 machine running in Parallels on a recently bought MacBookPro. This software (now deactivated) has run successfully on an XP machine and has successfully open TIFF files of this sort before.
I don't know whether this is relevant, but I can't update my copy of photoshop either. It downloads the updates, but will not install them.

I have discovered that the problem is that the TIFF files I am tying to open are 32 bit files.  There are several references on the Internet to Photoshop not being able to open these files   These are output files produced by the astro-imaging software Deep Sky Stacker.  Within DSS  I can save the 32 bit TIFFs  as 16 bit files which photoshop CS5 can open fine.
Does anyone know whether Photoshop CS5 can open 32 bit tiff files at all?  Would it help if I could update my version of Photoshop (see update problem above)?

  • Will purchasing GraphicConverter enable my MacBook to open TIFF files created on a Dell PC?  I'm using Mac OS X 10.6.8.

Will purchasing & installing GraphicConverter enable my MacBook to open TIFF files sent from a PC?  I am using Mac OS X 10.6.8.

Thanks for your replies, Keith and Kappy.  My husband converted these photos from .jpegs to .tiff for a publisher, who requires .tiff files, I think using "Paint."  For some reason the publisher could open some of the files but not all of them.  They were sent to me to try to open, but I couldn't open them either.  The photos have to be a minimum of 300 dpi.

  • Open Tiff file error

    Hi!
I've a very big tiff file, created by a scanner.
The scanner produces tiff files from my code, but the shipped SW can produce pdf.
My question is, how can I open this large tiff file in Labview (Vision)?
Using the Shipped SW I scanned a PDF and using Ghostscript I could convert the pdf to png and after the conversion I could open it!
Is there any way to convert this big tiff file to open in LV?

    Hi Durnek,
My first idea is to convert it from tiff to some light-weight format (i.e. BMP or lossy JPG) - you may do it i.e. controlling MS Paint via ActiveX.
Also, I would like to ask you which function/SW are you using to open/read this file? Could you also prove the image in the other way? (I am redirected to Hungarian portal - I can't easily download it).
    Thanks and BR,
    Wojciech.

  • Bridge doesn't open tiff files in photoshop

When I click a TIFF file in Adobe Bridge, the files is opened in a Windows viewer, not in Photoshop as I prefer.

I appreciate your feedback, Ron, but although your answer is technically correct, it doesn't give the full story. What I found via Adobe Support is that I needed, in Adobe Bridge, to (1) go to Edit > Preferences> File associations; (2) Scroll down to TIFF (.tif, .tiff); (3) click the down arrow then click "Browse..."; (4) Find Photoshop.exe and select it through this path (in my Windows computer): C: > Program Files (x86)> Adobe> Adobe Photoshop CC> Photoshop.exe; (5) Then, press "Open", note that Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 is listed next to TIFF and click "OK".
    It worked!

  • Photoshop CS6 can't/won't open TIFF file created in photoshop CS3

Earlier this year, I was still using CS3. I created a bunch of original TIFF files, and modified files which had been created in CS1. When I am having to go back and reference these CS3 TIFFs, some of them are giving me an error message and refusing to open. Evidently, they are not compatible with CS6?! Seriously?!
I have since uninstalled CS3, but the box is sitting on the shelf if I need it (which I am hoping I don't). Any suggestions for a workaround - preferably one which will not destroy my layers.
    Thanks!

Well, carp. Just like when you take your car in to the mechanic: I can't find any of the offending TIFF files. Not surprising considering that I have just north of 1,000 on my drive. Yikes.
For the record, the error message basically just said that the file I was trying to open was incompatibile with this version of Photoshop. And just now I successfully opened a file from April 2005, originally created in CS, and it is completely intact. My novice-ness shows through , but it's perfectly intact.
Sorry to bother to Board; I'll come back when (if?) the message comes back.
    Thanks.

  • Mac version of PSE 12 open tiff files in ACR only. How I can open it WITHOUT ACR?

I don't like to correct TIFF (or PNG) files in ACR, but PSE 12 (Mac) open this files in ACR (I try File > Open (NOT Open in Camera Raw!!!), or double click on file, or right click on file > Open with PSE...).
    WTH?

There is a preference in PS whether to prefer ACR for specific types of files.  Turn that off for TIFs.

  • Not able to open TIFF files

Photoshop is not able to open few TIFF files and I am not able to understand what's making these files different from the other TIFFs
Attached the error box that's popping when trying to open the file in Photoshop.
Here is the link of the TIFF file which is throwing the above error - https://www.dropbox.com/l/IDZfh8TSHAWgS8mP0oWeFn
    Please help

    Your file is corrupted.
Some applications are able to open the embedded, flattened, JPEG preview only.

  • Crashes with Snow Leopard when opening TIFF files.

There seems to be a general problem with opening certain TIFF files in 10.6.1. Preview, Quicklook, even Get Info in the Finder cause app crashes (and Finder restarts). It seems to affect almost all apps (but not, interestingly, Photoshop CS3). It only happens with certain TIFF files, but totally consistently. It happens whether or not 3rd party apps are running. To reproduce, open such a file in Preview, or use Quicklook, or Get Info in the Finder.

I have a RIP on a PC creating 1-bit TIFF files. They open just fine in Photoshop or other 3rd party programs. However when I try and open them in preview they immediately crash the program. Now I have also noticed that when I select the item and try to get info (to change the default program to open with) the FINDER crashes too!
Getting info on a file can actually crash the Finder? C'mon Apple gimme a break here... a 1-bit TIFF should be no problem.

  • Can't open TIFF file.  Probably the file is corrupted.

    Hello,
I have a batch of TIFF files that I am trying to open but when I do, Photoshop says "Could not complete your request because of a problem parsing the TIFF file."  I assume the files are corrupt, so I was just wondering how would I do about to fix them.  I used PixRecovery but that wasn't that good because I couldn't repair them in as a batch and since I have more than 400 files, I don't have the time to do them one by one.  Please help.  Much appreciated.

There could be some type of compression used on them that PS doesn't like. I know some geospatial imagery is tiff - jpg compressed and needs some other software help in order to convert to a readable form. Maybe post an image?

  • Preview won't open tiff file

The scanner part of our Xerox printer/copier/scanner produces a tiff file that can not be opened by Preview (it does on Windows); does someone know a work-around for this, preferably a free and small conversion program (GraphicConverter does the job but isn't free) or even better: a CMM solution.

Here's several freeware graphics apps that you might want to try.

  • I cannot open TIFF files from Image Capture

I cannot open color TIFF files from Image Capture. I can open the Black and White files though. I tried with Quick Time with the same result as with Preview. I never had this kind of trouble before.
I tried the coarser resolution and the 8 bits to make the picture smaller. No dice.
I tried the same thing with my other Mac with the same results. Could it be the scanner?
