Opening to same folder.

With my Old G5 and 10.4 when I selected open in something like FCP it would open to the last folder I was in. Now when I import graphics or something it defaults to the root folder, not the last folder I was in. This makes it annoying to navigate through menus every time to get back to the folder I am working in.
Where is that setting?

OK, well at least I know I am not going crazy now. Or at least you guys are going crazy with me I also had to switch to a cable to run to my router for internet because the WiFi would always stop when I am downloading or uploading files for work. The hard line works now. Not having the last folder as the default folder really *****.

I presume you mean "obscure catalog"? To change this you can goto Lightroom preferences (Edit->Preferences, shortcut is ctrl,). On the General tab choose from "When starting up use this catalog" drop-down list under the Default Catalog heading.

Getting Bridge to open the same folder / sub-folders on launch

In CS3, I had something configured so that when I launched Bridge, the folder with all my image sub-folders opened automatically.
How do I get this to work in CS5 ? I assume it is something in prefs or in the menu , but I don't know what ?

Thanks Curt. That helped. I do have Bridge set to automatically start with Windows. I thought that shutting down Windows would cause Bridge to remember the last visited folder since Bridge was closed but I need to right-click on the Bridge icon in the system tray and exit before shutting down Windows. At least now I know why this was happening!

How can I open multiple instances of the same folder and web browser in different desktops in Lion?

I've selected "none" for association but it doesn't work. In other words, I have a Dropbox folder on my desktop. I'd like to be able to open that same folder using the same shortcut on different Lion desktops. However, whenever I try to use the same shortcut on a different desktop, it switches to the one where it's already open. Same problem with web browsers; if I try to just click on a web browser to create a new window, it will take me back to the other desktop.
I didn't have this problem before I had to replace my hard drive and update everything again. I am aware of the "restart Finder" option as well as associating programs with individual desktops. All of the things in question are currently selected as "none."
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I just set Safari's option to None. That is I right clicked on the dock, selected options, and chose none. Also, in Mission Control's tab of System Preferences I clicked Off When switching to an application, switch to a space with open windows for that application. That let me open a new Safari window no matter what desktop I was in. But I had to do both. Just setting the desktop option to none didn't seem to do it. Finder seems to work okay with just the none option set.

Hi Everyone - Showing "0" photos in a library folder. But the photos show in that same folder explore. I have LR 5.6 set to "Show photos in Subfolder". I have filters off. There are 380 photos that I spent several days editing. I have been building a book online for the past several days and have been uploading the photos with no problem. I have been going back into this folder in the library to pick what I want to use with no problem until today. The folder shows in the "Folder" section of the Library but it shows "0" photos are in the folder. When I open that same folder in explore all of the photos are there. I have changed nothing since working on this project yesterday. I have rebooted my system and that did not help. Any suggestions to make these photos show up again in the Library would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! Toby

Thanks for the fast reply dj_paige! I had already searched for the photos prior to my post and found the photos neatly tucked away in the folder that was showing "0" photos. But could not view them in LR. I should have mentioned that in my previous post. I also tried synchronizing the folder after I rebooted this morning to no avail. Now the strange thing - I just clicked on synchronize folder once again and it replaced the photos into the folder and I can now see them in LR once again. I can't explain why that did not work earlier but am glad it worked just now. Thanks again for your reply!

Bridge CS4 always opens in the same folder

Since I upgraded to Photoshop CS4, Bridge always opens in the same
folder. It used to open up whatever folder I was working on last.
There must be a setting somewhere to tell Bridge to open the last

Ask in the ID forum and be much more specific about your configuration. there could be any number of reasons why manifests, temp files or restore files are created.

'On open' only works in the same folder?

I'm running an 'On open' script but it only works when the folder to be processed that placed onto the AS is in the same folder.
Is there a workaround?

I'm not familiar with ImageMagick, but there are a couple of issues with your script.
1) The on open handler takes the files dropped on the application as it's arguments, but you are using the Finder's currently selected items.
2) File paths that might contain spaces should be quoted, or your shell script will break when it tries to do something with the space delimited items.
If you are just trying to create a text string that contains all of the (selected or dropped) items, something like the following should work (I just used a dialog to show what the shell script would be - you should test before using mogrify on original files):

Hello everybody, is it possible to configure adobe bridge that way that each time I open it bridge is going to start with the same folder? Or can I tell bridge to use the folder that was opened when closing bridge the last time?

Bridge always points to the last folder location that you used. So, each time you open Bridge, it will start with the same folder location.

In the Library Chooser Panel look for the pathes to the two duplicate libraries. You will see the location of the libraries in the path bar at the bottom of the window when you select one of the libraries. Does it show both libraries in the same folder?

Hi, In Microsoft Word on my PC I can put links in a Word doc to photos, PDFs and other files that sit in the same folder as the Word doc. Can I do the same in Pages on my Mac, and if so how please?

Just because you can do these things in MS Word, is no assurance that you can do them in Pages, which is not an MS Word clone.
Pages v5(.2) only supports links to Web pages and Email.
Pages ’09 v4+ supports links to another Pages ’09 document, Web page, Email, or internal Bookmark.

If I open a folder, read a folder within,and then want to look at another in the same folder, how do I "go back" without having to reopen the folder?

Recently when I open a desktop folder and click on a folder within, then want to go back to the fullness of the original folder to open something else, I have to click on the original folder on my desktop. Is there anyway to "backspace" to go back to the holding folder so I can look at something else. I'm getting tired of having the folder go back to the desktop and then have to reopen it. Ideas?

Hello. I don't know if this is the right category for my problem but here it goes.
Since yesterday, I've been trying to open Windows Explorer folder (which include Documents, Pictures, Videos, Music, Downloads, Computer, Dropbox, Skydrive, etc.) and as a result my taskbar and my background crashes, the folder doesn't open and then my taskbar
and bg goes back to normal. I searched the problem in other forums but the responses are from last year and this is happening since 29/03/2014 (yesterday) so I don't know if this is a new thing or old. I called my sister because she has this same laptop and
asked her if this is happening to her also and she said it is so I'm starting to think that W8.1 needs an update. Idk :(. We have a Dell Inspiron 15 and it's brand new ! I ordered mine last month.

Did you make any change to your system recently? To fix this problem, firstly, you can try to use
SFC /scannow command to fix it for test.
If problem persists, just try to boot your system into Safe mode to test if this problem occures. If problem occures, It would be better to use system resotre to revert your system to a former timepoint state.
To find the reason about this problem, you can use Process Monitor
to capture Explorer.exe when open folder or library.

CS 5.5 Save To Web Default To Same Folder As Original?

This has driven me NUTS since CS3... I'm hoping there is a solution I just never figured out.
When I open a PSD and then click Save To Web it always saves to the last folder I had Saved To Web... NOT the folder of the PSD I just opened. So about 50% of the time I save to the -wrong- folder.
Is there not a setting that tells PS to 'By Default Save To Same Folder As PSD'?

you need to create several rules, one for every customer. In this rule choose machting criteria and then on the bottom select "Move/Copy E-Mail to" and right next to it the desired mailbox.
