Opening up CS3 file .fla file in Flash Pro 8

I have a friend I am helping to learn flash and he sent me a
Flash file from CS3 saved as a Flash 8 file and I can't open it in
my flash 8 version - does anyone know why? Thanks Eric

Hi funkysoul - "he sent me a Flash file from CS3 saved as a
Flash 8 file " - he did that and it isn't working - I think he has
a student version, would that have anything to do w/ it? Also,
adzenx - I have Flash 8 because that is the version I purchased
back when it is avail - I hadn't upgraded since then.

  • Opening a pdf file from Flash Pro CS5 swf

Tried using the usual link to a pdf after creating a hidden button, but each time it opens a web window with Bing looking for the titled pdf not the actual pdf itself.
This is what I am using:
    on(release)
    GetURL("schematic.pdf","_blank");
Anyone have any ideas as to how this works in CS5. Be gentle I'm a Flash newbie.

Delete the following item, then quit and relaunch Safari:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins/AdobePDFViewer.plugin

  • Opening InDesign CS3 files in InDesign CS2

I know that I can open a CS2 file in CS3 but is there any way to go backwards and open a CS3 file in CS2. Is there any certain file type that I can save as to make this work and have the file still editable or am I out of luck?

And my experience with CS3 to CS2 via INX exports, all graphics inherite a black border. Even graphic elements pasted from Illustrator will gain the nasty effect, pictures box that use to be without stroke and fill will gain the feature.
A lot of cleanning, unless the export quirk was solved since
But beside that the type seems unaltered

  • Opening Indesign CS3 files in Indesign 2.0

Can any one assist in opening Indesign CS3 files in Indesign 2.0 please.
    Many Thanks.

That is not possible. InDesign 2.0 is four versions ago. You can use InDesign Interchange format to get back to CS2 (and if you have CS2, you can use it again to get back to CS, but that's as far as it goes).

  • CS3 and CS4 .fla files in Flash Pro 8 ?

Does anyone know what it takes for me to open .fla files from CS3/CS4 - in my Flash Pro 8 ?
It says "Wrong file type" or something like that...
The guy sending me CS3/CS4 is a PC user, and I am a Mac user... dont know if that matters....
    Thanks,
    John

You cannot open CS3/4 file in Flash 8.  Either you or the person sending you the files has to save the files down to Flash 8 versions before you can open them in Flash 8.  CS3 can save files down to Flash directly since each version of Flash can save to the previous version.  But CS4 files would need to be saved as CS3 files first, and then CS3 could be used to save back to Flash 8.  If any features new to CS3/4 are used in the files, these features will be lost in the conversion.

  • Opening a fireworks file in Flash

I am trying to import a Fireworks file into Flash and I keep getting an error message saying "transfer not complete due to unknown error."  Am I missing a step somewhere?

If it's a flash cs3 fla, then you might have a lot of problem since cs3 has new features that flash8 cant take care of.

  • Cannot open a CS3 file

    Hi,
I'm having an unusual problem. I've sent InD CS3 packaged files to various printers, who then have a problem opening in InDesign file. The error message received is:
"Cannot open the file "xxx". Adobe InDesign may not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file format may be missing, or the file may be open in another application"
The strange thing is that my boss, who has the same operating system (OS 10.5), can open the files just fine.
In some cases, the printers have removed the file extension (.indd) and have been able to open the file. But in other cases that fix doesn't seem to be working.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
    Thanks,
    Melissa
    Mac OS X 10.5.4

    Adobe InDesign CS3 5.0.4

Sounds like they're trying to open the file directly from a CD or other
write protected disk. If that's the case, tell them to copy the file to
    the harddrive.

  • I am trying to Open an SVG file with Flash

There's a list of programs that open svg files, and Flash was one of them (besides CS5). I know about Inkscape but can't open it with OSX without getting something to run windows (11) and when I went to get that it wasn't available. So I downloaded flash, and it says it's installed but there is no reference to Flash on my computer (except the install pkg). Any ideas??

You downloaded Flash, or Flash Player?  Flash Player is a web player (browser plugin), not a standalone player.
Adobe Media Player may do what you want.

  • Can I open Windows CS3 files in MacIntosh CS6?

    I have Windows Adobe CS3.
I also have Windows XP and must upgrade to Windows 8.1.  Someone said I must upgrade my Creative Suite because Windows 8.1 uses different drivers.  I also must buy a new computer, printer and scanner.  Is this true?
If I buy a MacIntosh computer and Creative Suite instead, can I still open my Windows CS3 files?
    Thanks.

The latest CS6 and CC will both open previous versions of CS 3 files. Platform of origin is irrelevant.

  • Importing Illustrator CS3 files into flash CS3 to tween

    Hello,
I'm definitely not a flash pro so I would like some help!
I'm trying to animate a man in Flash CS3 who was drawn in
    illustrator CS3.
I've imported all the layers but when I try to tween them
only the ones that have a single path tween correctly. Can you only
tween single path layers or am I being an idiot?
Many thanks and I look forward to your comments!

you can actually make illustrator drawings into symbols for
use in Flash CS3 while they're still in Ai. I would try that
approach first. There are some video tutorials on Adobe's site-
    I've lost the link.
That takes it out of the multi-layer wackiness, and puts
    everything together in nice packages.
Hopefully I'm not telling you something you already know X

  • Publish html5 file from Flash Pro CC

I subscribed Flash Pro CC and open a fla file produced by using Flash Pro CS5, It works to be tested with Control > Test Movie > Flash Professional and also successfully published to a swf and a html files. But it didn’t work to publish with CreateJS  toolkit to be html5 file. A warning says
“Frame numbers in EaselJS start at 0 instead of 1. For example, this affects gotoAndStop and gotoAndPlay calls. (10)
Content with both Bitmaps and Buttons may generate local security errors in some browsers if run from the local file system”.
What should I do to solve this problem?

Thank you very much, Kglad. It seems to me that I should insert JS statemnts in the actionScript to complete the job. I don't have any experience in JS. My Fla has only "Click to certain frame of theTmeline" with the Actionscript such as
    OBJ_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickto1);
      function clickto1(event:MouseEvent):void
              gotoAndStop("OBJ");
Should I insert a JS in addition to this script? The JS should be inside of  " /* JS..........*/" ? Do I have to learn the whole JS before I can know how to publish HTML5 from Flash Pro CC? Please help me.

  • Opening an Excel file configures MSO Pro 2007

    Using Win7 & MSO Pro 2007.
When I try to open an Excel file two unusual things happen after the splash window opens
1> A message box opens and says stdole32.tlb. When dismissed by clicking
    [OK]...
2> A window opens and starts to configure MSO Pro 2007 which takes 20-40 seconds to complete
    Taking a clue from KB 2528748 ..
3> I looked in the registry at:  HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Excel\Options and
          found no NoReReg Key, so
4> I executed , in the RUN BOX..
       reg add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Excel\Options /v NoReReg /t REG_DWORD /d 1
The registry now contains the appropriate noReReg key BUT the the behavior remains unchanged.
Is this likely due to the unclear message about stdole32.tlb at
    1>?
Could some one help me unravel and fix this nuisance problem?
    Thanx
    Arvin

  • Making .swf files in Flash Pro CC: What versions of Flash Player could play it?

    Hello, all!
I was recently let go from my last job. My former boss wanted me to do ActionScript work on a PowerPC Mac (an iMac G5) with a decade-old version of Flash (Flash MX 2004.) Her reasoning for this was sound: she wanted to distribute some of here English tutoring software to cash-strapped schools, so she wanted me to work with older software and hardware to ensure compatibility. Unfortunately (in this case) the only version of Flash Pro that I can legally acquire is Flash Pro CC, so I was unable to actually get my hands on anything that could run ActionScript 2. This made my productivity at work go slower than desired. Not only was I slow in picking up how to use Flash MX on a Mac (I'm primarily a Windows/Linux person) but she made it quite clear that she wasn't going to have me learning how to do the job on company time. In the end, she decided to scrap the project.
Now, that job is gone, and what's done is done, but I'm still interested in using Flash/ActionScript, and I'm also left with a question that, depending on the answer, may have saved my job if I had asked it just a couple days ago: what's the oldest version of Flash Player that would be able to play .swf files made in the current version of Flash Pro CC?
Thank you all for your time.

with a cc subscription, you can download, install and activate flash pro cs6 which supports as2.
the answer to your last question depends on what features you use of flash pro cc.  at a minimum you would be using as3 and need to use a flash player version that supports as3.

  • •TIP - Open Motion Project File In QT Pro

Not sure if everyone already knows this but you can open a motion project file in QT Pro.
For this one project I had to export QT files from Motion. It was taking forever and was playing around and discovered that if you open the motion file from QT player and did an export it was much faster.
The export from motion took 54 min...when using the QT method it took 5 min.
    Why?
Who cares, it was faster and looked great.
If you already know this trick..great, if you dont I suggest giving it a try if you need a faster solution.
    Cheers!

I've tried that. I think there might be a bug in QT Pro (PC) or for some reason my QT Pro can't handle an .ac3 file. I just upgraded QT Pro to 7.5.5 and now I get different behavior. Basically, I'm getting no audio at all even though I've chosen "Add to Movie" properly. I think the problem might be that QT Pro isn't able to recognize my .ac3 file. If I playback the .ac3 file in QT by itself, I don't hear anything at all. I don't have a 5.1 sound card in my computer, but shouldn't I at least be able to hear two channels? Do I need anything special installed (hardware or software codecs) to playback an .ac3 file with QT Pro?
