Opening up email attachment on iPad.

I use documents to go, but when I get an email with an excel sheet I can't open it.  It shows up as an win mail.dat file but when I also send that email to another iPad user with documents to go it shows up as an excel file and opens.

The emails are probably being sent to you in rich text format - you will either need to get them resent in plain text or HTML, or there are some apps in the store that might be able to read them (search the store for winmail) : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1506

  • How do i open an email attachment on ipad?

I cannot open any attachments on my ipad. Can anyone maybe tell me why or what I can do ?

Go all the way to the bottom of the email (even if it contains previous messages), and you'll see the attachment @ the bottom of the message and can just click on it to open it. I hope this helps. I had the same problem initially until I figured out what to do. Until then, it's very frustrating....

  • Adobe reader error when openning an email attachment on ipad.

I can not open Adobe documents sent via email on my iPad since upgrading the app. This is the message:
Please wait... If this message is not eventually replaced by the proper contents of the document, your PDF viewer may not be able to display this type of document. You can upgrade to the latest version of Adobe Reader for Windows®, Mac, or Linux® by visiting  http://www.adobe.com/go/reader_download. For more assistance with Adobe Reader visit  http://www.adobe.com/go/acrreader. Your PDF document is a special type of form called a "dynamic XFA form".
Currently, Adobe Reader mobile products (for iOS, Android, Windows Phone) do not support static or dynamic XFA forms that are created with Adobe LiveCycle Designer.  (This is not a new problem, however.)
The message "Please wait..." is displayed when a dynamic content is not supported by a PDF viewer.
Please use the desktop version of Adobe Reader on a Windows or Mac computer to fill out XFA forms.
    Sorry for the inconvenience.

  • I cannot open all email attachment files(pdf, doc, etc) in Mail on my New IPad.

I cannot open all email attachment files(pdf, doc, etc) in Mail on my New IPad. I installed all viewer apps but I am not able to click and hold to select the option of viewer apps to open the files. I dont get the "open with" option when I click on the arrow in the menu bar. I can open attachment files on G-mail website from Safari though. It is really ridiculous that I cannot open the files from Apple Mail app! What's wrong with it!!

We cannot possible know what's wrong with it. But we can offer suggestions that might help.
Try resetting the iPad - its like rebooting a computer.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    This might help as well.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again

You cannot change your Apple ID. You can get a new one if you want, but all of your Apps and media are linked to yoru old Apple ID. And no, Apple won't transfer your old ID purchases to yoru new ID.

  • Iphone wont open xls email attachment

I need to be able to open .xls email attachments on my iphone 3GS from a major customer which i receive regularly but get the following error:
*This document can't be viewed. An error occured while reading the document.*
I can open the same .xls file on my macbook pro using excel:mac2008 although i get a message first 'file error data may have been lost' which i just need to click ok and the file opens normally.
I have tried downloading 'Quickoffice' to the iphone but makes no difference.
My previous phone with windows mobile opened the same .xls attachement with no problem.
I need to solve this, please can anyone help?

I ran into a similar problem. I have a vendor that embedds HTML data in an xls file and just hits save. Problem is that the iPhone viewer tries to open it as xls instead of html (and says invalid file format).
I opened the file in Excel 2003 (windows version gasp), then clicked on File > Save As and low and behold it's default was .html (indicating that is how it was saved orginally). I changed it to a normal Excel Workbook (.xls) saved, and re-emailed it and it worked fine. Also it works if I just change the file extension to .html.
So for whatever reason the iPhone viewer cannot handle an html page saved with an xls extension.
Since your sender will not change his ways, you could write some code to intercept the email, change the file extension, and resend it.

  • Acrobat can not open pdf email attachment

Acrobat 8 Professional.<br /><br />A user gets this error message when he tries to open up a pdf email attachment:<br /><br />"Acrobat could not open <File Name> because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been corrupted (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)."<br /><br />I can open up the attachment without any issues.<br /><br />Anybody else have this issue?

Yes, Ron Green here at the NYS Insurance Department. I now have two clients and counting that have somewhat of an identical problem.
Client #1 has Adobe 8 Professional installed on his pc which is running Widnows XP Professsional. Files are scanned using a XEROX MFP network scanner and client is able to open those scanned documents within adobe and then saves them to a network share. Problem arises whenever he attempts to attach the saved document to another application. Once he attempts viewing the scanned document at that point Adobe blows up with the same error message stating the file is corrupt.
Client #2 has Adobe 9 Reader but is still able to follow the same network scanning scenario aforementioned but encounters the exact same problem when attempting to attach the scanned PDF documents.
Is there any type of fix out there for this???

  • TS3276 when I open my email on my iPad 2 I don't see any content. How may I fix this problem?

When I open my email, I can't see the content of the messages. How may I fix it?

Try closing the Mail app completely and see if the email bodies show when you re-open the app : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work also do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • How do i open an email attachment in pages app on ipad ?

HHi, I have been sent an email with an attachment that I need to complete and send back, I have purchased the pages app but I cannot work out how to open the attachment in pages? Can anybody help please?

First of all it has to be compatible with Pages. It has to be a .doc, .docx, or a native Pages document or you will not be able to open and edit it in Pages. If it is one of those file types' just tap and hold down on the attachment icon in order to bring up the Open In window. Select Pages from the Open In window and the document will open in the Pages app. If the document is already open, tap on the screen to enable the share icon in the up upper right, then tap that icon to invoke the Open In window,

  • How to email attachment on ipad using gmail

I can't figure out how to include an attachment with an email through gmail?
    Thanks

    I have a simple solution.
From your browser, NOT an app. So in Safari, Chrome, Mozilla, Explorer.
Go to drive.google.com and login, if you aren't already (be sure to use desktop format and not mobile)
Choose the document you want to send and open it (this should direct you to docs)
When you have your document open please click file in the upper left and scroll down to email as attachment
There is a dropdown menu for "Attach As" where you may choose your file format
Below that follow like any other email: To, Subject, Message
Hit send, now you've attached and sent your file
