Opening video with iPhoto problem

iPhoto 8 (ver 7.1.5) doesn't open my videos (and Quicktime 10.0) anymore....do you know why?

You need to have Quicktime Player 7 for those.  Do a custom install with your Snow Leopard install disk and select just Quicktime Player 7 for installation.  It will get installed in your Applications/Utilities folder and iPhoto will then be able to play movie files.

I open Word documents on my Mac using Pages and textedit without any problems.
I also have a copy of OpenOffice and it can also open Word documents without any problems.
Could you please provide more details on exactly what you mean when you say you having troubles opening Word documents? What kind of troubles?

  • Opening Videos with safari?

    Hi all,
I am having trouble opening videos with the new safari public beta, safari always downloads the file i click on, whereas in explorer or mozilla it could open the videos through media player or an equivalent without download but using the temp folder, the videos would basically stream. How can i acheive this with this new browser. All help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I'm betting Safari 3 for Windows is taking a page from Safari 2 for Mac, in that it either opens video in the browser window (Quicktime movies, for example), or downloads the video to your Desktop. Unlike Firefox it's historically never had the option to just open something directly without electing a download. This presumably simplifies file management by eliminating the need for large temp files that can, if unchecked, become bloated with leftover downloads.
You can set Safari to open so-called 'safe' downloads automatically after download, producing the same effect as Firefox's "Open With" option. It should be on by default, but you can check it's status in a plist file (it should be someplace in Preferences, but I don't see it yet, perhaps not implimented, or perhaps I'm just blind) located at C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Apple Computer\Safari\Preferences.plist
Verify the following property is set to true:
    <key>AutoOpenSafeDownloads</key>
    <true/>

  • ITunes sync with iPhoto Problem

    Hi everybody,
i'm experiencing a tedious issue with iTunes and the iPhoto syncronization with i-devices.
I'm running iTunes 10.4 , iPhoto 9.1.5 and i have an iPhone 4 and an iPad both running iOS 4.3.5.
When i sync my iPhone with iTunes i usually chose only 3 separated iPhoto events and no problems occurs in copying the photos on the device.
When i sync my iPad instead i get the following problem:
the same as with the iPhone i choose a limited number of iPhoto events to sync with the iPad but the photos count shown in the iTunes screen is a lot different then the real number of the photos in the iPhoto events. To be clear:
Event 1 contains 300 photos in iPhoto
In the syncing screen of iTunes for the iPad Event 1 contains only 3 photo.
As a result only 3 photo are transferred to the iPad.
I tried to repair and rebuild the iPhoto library (alt+cmd+start iphoto) selecting all the options except the rebuild database from backup option. Nothing changed.
I tried to reset iphoto syncing with the iPad doing as follow:
    connect iPad
    select "don'y sync photos"
choose "Erase all photo from the Device"
    disconnect
    Reboot both devices
    reconnect iPad
    choose sync again.
    Nothing changed again
At last i tried to erase the content of the "ipod photo cache" folder as suggested in other threads in this forums but when i reconnected the iPad and tried to resync nothing changed.
Beaside that i tried even to control and repair permissions on the entire HD with Disc Utility but again i had no differences with the problem.
Does anybody experienced the same problem? There is any known solution? Anything else i could try?
Thanks everybody in advance for any support given.
    Giuliano.

I am having a similar issue.  My iPhone 4, my wife's iPhone 3GS and my iPad 2 will start to sync with iTunes on my MacBook (running Lion) and when it begins to import photos from iPhoto, I get a (-50) error and the sync quits. Some events sync just fine but others trigger the error message.
I have deleted the iPod Photo Cache, reinstalled iTunes, reinstalled iPhoto, repaired and rebuilt my iPhoto library, restored my iPhone to factory settings, repaired permissions on my MacBook and anything else I could think of or found in previous postings.  Nothing has worked.
Please help!  This is incredibly frustrating and no one at Apple has been able to help.  Thank you!

  • Ipod Movie/Video with Audio problems

I have some music videos, it would only sync as imovie...but even so their shouldnt be a problem with the audio function of the ipod should their? i just received the ipod for christmas but the videos i have uploaded have no sound....reguler songs work fine...could someone help me with the problem so i could enjoy the music of my videos?
Video Ipod   Windows XP Pro   73GB left on Ipod

Sounds like the video files might not be in the correct format for use with the iPod. I would recommend that you download an iPod Video Converter and run the files through it, and then try syncing the newly created files on to the iPod.
I've used Videora, and have had some good results with it. The only problem that I've really run into is that sometimes the audio is a few seconds out of sync with the video. It's not soo bad that watching the video files is unbearable, but that's all up to you.
You can try a Google search for iPod Video Converter, or you can check on VersionTracker.com
    Hope this is helpful.

  • Exporting Video with Iphoto

I exported some videos in Iphoto and didn't select "Original" when exporting.  After exporting I'm only left with thumbnails of the videos in .mov format but the video in only 1 second long.  I deleted the originals in Iphoto.  Is there anyway to restore or recover these videos?  I noticed the videos are various sizes so I'm hoping the orginal data is still in there...  Thanks!
    Nick

Guess what - you answered my question with "no Information"
"As to what you exported unless you exported the original then youhave no video"
All I needed, thanks for the help

  • Open Keynote with iPhoto

A nice trick? I was unable to open a Keynote file (V3). I had an older version of the file that would open, but forgot what I had added to the newer version. I opened the new version in iPhoto, which imported every picture and frame. I then opened the old file in Keynote and was able to compare the two files. Until there is a solution to the problem of files that Keynote can't open, at least I can now redo the files.

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Cant open videos in iphoto

Prior to installing snow, double click on mpeg video taken with digital camera in iphoto and the video played with quicktime. Now nothing happens when I double click. Quicktime X is installed. Would consider getting rid of X and installing Quicktime 7 instead. Any simple solution??

    Any simple solution??
QT X is a whole new area for experimentation. Can't make any tests at the moment as my Snow Leopard platform is/will be busy most of the dat performing conversions and I don't have any MPEG-1 content in iPhoto anyway. However, where would be what I would try...
Would consider getting rid of X and installing Quicktime 7 instead.
Snow Leopard structure embed is dual 32-/64-bit transition version. Both QT X and QT 7 (v7.6.3) can simultaneously reside on your platform. Simply install the QT 7 software in the "extras" installer package on you Snow Leopard installation disc. This will install the QT 7 Player in your "Applications > Utilities" folder.
Prior to installing snow, double click on mpeg video taken with digital camera in iphoto and the video played with quicktime. Now nothing happens when I double click.
Once installed on your system, here is what I would do. Try opening the QT 7 Player and leave it active in the background. Now try double-clicking the MPEG-1 file in iPhoto and see if it automatically opens and plays as it used to do. The reasoning here is that some users have indicated that various movie playback operations will default to the open QT 7 Player rather than opening the closed QT X Player. Frankly, I'm not at all sure what will happen here, but it would be something I would try/test on my Snow Leopard platform if I could access it without worrying about a possible interruption in conversions already in progress. Whether or not it works, please post back with your results so others will have an idea as to what "workarounds" may work for them.

  • My iphone 3gs will not sync with my itunes, instead it open up with iphoto who do I get it to sync with itunes?

How do I get my iphone 3GS to open up and sync with itunes and not iphoto?  My iphone thinks it's a camera and now I can't sync new music onto it.

    It IS a camera.
Have you tried opening iTunes?  Does iTunes detect that the iPhone is connected?

  • My iPhoto libraries have been made with older vs. and cannot open them with iPhoto application or Library Manager

  • Open Jpeg with iPhoto choice in contextual menu?

In Snow Leopard I could right click on a Jpeg file in a finder window and get a contextual menu listing the recommended applications to open the file. The first one was "Preview" the second was "Safari" and the third was "Send Jpeg to iPhoto." The last choice is not available in Lion. I can obviously choose iPhoto to open the file from the "choose application to open file" in the contextual menu, but that takes a couple of more steps. I could have all Jpeg files open in iPhoto, but I don't want to have that happen with every Jpeg.
Can I do anything to restore that feature in Lion? Maybe it's just hidden somewhere.
    Thanks in advance,
    Bob

  • Open video with Media Encoder on a mac

This may be a super easy noob style question, but here goes.
I'm on a MacPro running OSX 10.9.4, Adobe CC 2014. Whenever I need to convert a video file using Media Converter, I'll right click the file in finder and go to "open with", and can't get finder to recognize AME as a recommended application. It's not a huge deal, because I can select "all applications" instead of just "recommended applications", but that is just such a pain in the buns. Is there any way to get OSX to recognize AME as a "recommended application?" Like I said, not the end of the world by any means and I'm probably just derping up and being a noob, but if anybody knows I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

As far as I know, you don't... those are Windows formats that are not available on a Mac
    Nonsense.
Apple Compressor has been doing wmf exports for a decade. I have the Quicktime export components from Telestream and they appear as presets in Compressor. They should be available in Media Encoder or they should be importable. Adove apparently refuses to see them. Still trying to figure that out.

My 2008 videos imported and previousely played in iPhoto will not play.  A window drops down saying "A necessary data reference could not be found."  Any answers??

  • Video with nero problem

i want to know if i can make nero convert my dvds with a constant bit rate of 2.5 mbps and not a vbr, and make the audio louder than what nero default is.

    Hi Harm,
For file playback on Nero or WMP on consumer systems. If I set the video render to 48k my convertor and montior system complain and sound best at 44.1k when the videow as renderd rendered at 44.1k.  I am trying to just get the files out to folks to be able to watch.  I figured they cannot adjust the rates like I can at the studio.  Eventually we will render at 24/96 for the final DVD burn.
    Thanks,
    Eric
