Opening .wav files in emails in iPad

I've setup my desk phone to email messages to me as .wav files.  The .wav files don't open on my iPad.  Any recommended app's?

If you search the store  you will find a couple of apps that reportedly will play wav files.   But, i also did a search in old forums, and wav voice mail playing was a fairly well reprted issue on the iphone, pre pad, and was fixed in ios2.
The problem then was that the provider was using a new and unsupported codec in their wav file. Does the system you are using to create the files have any output settings or options?  This might be as simple as a non standard sample rate that you can adjust.
I also note that the native player in my pad plays wav files just file.  I pulled a few from websites, and they all play.
What happens when you touch the e mail attachment?  Does it not play, or do you get a message?

After upgrading to ios6 my iphone will not open .xls files in emails with the default viewer. Is there a fix for this? The same emailed .xls files still open on my ipad using ios5 while viewing email like they did on my iphone prior to upgrading. I have no special software like numbers or anything else installed on either device. Just using the default viewer provided by apple for viewing email.

The attachment is an .xls excel 97-2003 spreadsheet. I viewed the file in the email and did not edit it with any software. I can forward the file to anyone that is may want to check it out to see if they can help me. I was wondering if there was some way of forcing another ios6 install on my phone and maybe that would solve it.
Is there anyone out there that is viewing .xls files in email using ios6 w/o any other software installed like numbers or any other add ons? I am not upgrading my ipad from ios5 to ios6 so I can still continue to view the emails on my ipad. Is there an email viewer .xls plug-in that will be availablle in the next ios6 update?

  • Opening a file shuts down my iPad app

I've opened my campus map via my adobe iPad app. Every time I open it now in the app, it just shuts the app down. I've tried deleting and uploading a new PDF file. I've tried turning my iPad off and back on again.

    Hi,
    Adobe version 10.4.4
    iOS version 6.1.2
Ive downloaded the campus map of my univerity. I open it up using adobe and it works fine the first time.
Its when I go back into the adobe app to look at the map again, it begins to open it up, then just shuts down.
It doesnt always happen, sometimes the app does open it up!!
Ive not used the adobe app much since, so I cant tell you if it happens with other documents.

    Hi,
Could you please let us know the version od Adobe Reader you are using on your device?
Also please let us know the iOS version.
From what is written in the post above, as soon as you open the file in Adobe Reader, the app shuts down.
    Thanks,
    Ankit

  • I can open pdf files in emails, but not on websites. I have the new Reader.

I can open pdf files in emails, but not on websites, as I was able to a couple of weeks ago. On websites I get the message, "Adobe Acrobat has crashed". I downloaded the new Adobe Reader and that didn't help. I don't have Adobe Acrobat, on Adobe Reader.

Windows 7, Google Chrome and the most recent Adobe Reader (just downloaded the same day). The problem is with Google Chrome, as Fire Fox works fine. I tried enabling and disabling what would read pdf files in Chrome plugins and found that the only thing that worked was to disable adobe reader and enable chrome reader, which is the opposite of what was reccomended in answer to other adobe forum questions that were similar to mine.

  • ITunes Won't Stop Opening .wav files...

I want Quicktime to me the only app on my MacBook to open .wav files. I've got the MIME association checked in my Quicktime, but every time I go to open a .wav file, iTunes is the app that loads and plays the file.
Any idea on how to fix this? Thanks

I have a computer (my boss' of course...) that keeps grabbing .wav files with iTunes. You can do the obvious trick from Finder of Open With (QT), and Change All and it works fine. It might even work fine through one reboot. But certainly by the time he reboots twice, itunes has grabbed them all back again. AIEEEE!!! Anywhere else I'm missing to fix this?
It's a Mac pro 3.0 quad core, latest version of Leopard, etc.

  • How do I stop iTunes from automatically opening .wav files

I recently arranged to have voicemails to a business number sent to me in the form of .wav files that I check at the end of the day from my home PC. I was disappointed to learn that when I open the email and double click the .wav file it automatically imports it to my music library in iTunes (also selecting to be synched). I am just trying to get these files to open in Quicktime. Any help?

Can you tell me how? I am having the same issue, but I think mine is opening automatically whenever I download any new music files.

  • Wav file in email won't play

I got an email with a brief wav file ( telephone message) and they always play on iPhone, but wouldn't play on iPad. Why?

Are you sure you did download the entire message? The built-in media player (QucikTime) should play WAV files and no third-party apps should be required.
    See https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3652515?start=0&tstart=0
Nevertheless, if you in no way can make it work, let me know and I compile a full list of WAV-capable third-party players (there are a lot of them).

  • PSD file from email into iPad Photoshop

I was emailed a PSD file that I want to upload into Photoshop on my iPad. I cannot find a way to do this. Anyone know of a step by step way to do this?
    Thanks

    from http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-touch/faq.html,
You can work with images on your mobile device and then take them further on your PC or Mac in Adobe Photoshop. You can move files between tablets, smartphones, and computers by using Adobe Creative Cloud to open layered files from Photoshop Touch in Photoshop. This requires a downloadable plug-in for Photoshop CS5 and later. You can also open Photoshop (PSD) files in Photoshop Touch; however, all image layers will be flattened into a single layer.

  • Trying to open wave files on my imac

most common this comes up with wmv attachments to emails... when I try to open it defaults to itunes.
can anyone please recommend what I use? or if there is a program I need to download?
    thank you.

Please clarify what you're trying to open. The title of your post says "wave" files...which can be played in iTunes. Yet you say the email attachments you get are WMV files, which can be opened by installing Flip4Mac from flip4mac.com

  • How to open excel files from email in macro enabled workbooks NOT 2003-2007 worksheets?

I have recently installed Office 365 and it was working great. I needed to open excel documents via email with the macro enabled option. Yesterday it flicked back to only giving me the option to open in 2003-2007 workbook so now I am having issues with the
macros. I am contracting and trying to get work out and this has now caused huge problems.
Am thinking of uninstalling and reinstalling. I did have older versions of ms office so maybe there is some residual content there to remove? I have tried to change the associations and protocols to open in excel macro enabled workbooks but these tick boxes
are greyed out and I do not know how to gain access to these. Have been hunting all through my computer system but do not know how to do this. Am no expert.
If someone could help I would really appreciate it otherwise will need to find some computer shop expert I suppose...urgently ha.
    Thanks in advance

it's sound like excel 13 disable the macros, turn on it will fix your issue.
    see here:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/excel-help/enable-or-disable-macros-in-office-files-HA010354316.aspx
ps: use the local admin to change the setting, the reason why the setting grey out.

  • Playing a .wav file from email attachment

I am trying to play a .wav file that is attached to an email, and i get "The document conversion failed". Am I missing something? What do I need to do to be able to play .wav files that are sent to me via email?

    I have the same request.
We have a new Panasonic phone system that sends out .wav voicemail files.
Our company's Curve's play the wav fine.
Our company's BOLDs ... DO NOT.

  • How to open .ppt file from email?

Can i open .ppt file on my iphone? I've got that file on email.

    Ansuz82,
Correct, the User's Guide lists the supported formats on Page 117:
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/iPhoneUserGuide.pdf
A quote of the appropriate section (as appears on Feb 9, 2008) is:
*If you can’t open an attachment in an email*
The file type may not be supported. iPhone supports the following email attachment
    file formats:
    • .c, .cpp, .diff, .doc, .docx, .h, .hpp, .htm, .html, .m, .mm, .patch, .pdf, .txt, .xls, .xlsx

  • Viewing .wav files in emails

I receive .wav and other video files in email and do not know how to view them on my iPhone. I have the new 3g iPhone and would like instructions as how to do this as I have tried every thing that I can think of. I am semi-illiterate regarding this matter

Here is an article from the apple support website that might help out.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP495
In this article there is an section that states what video format is supported.
    Hope this helps

  • Can't open Jpeg files in email

I just purchased a Samsung Continum.  I love it but I am unable to open jpeg files in my emails.  Am I missing something?

Just keep in mind, downloading has limitations. The maximum file size for picture / videos/attachments can vary from device to device. The file size limitation is based on the megapixels of the camera on the device. The maximum file size that can be sent from an email to a device is 3 MB. When any message over 350 KB is sent to the device, the file is reduced in size to be under 350 KB prior to delivery. If a device sends a 500 KB file to a device with a lower file size limit the file will be reduced to a file size acceptable by the receiving device.. A message that exceeds the other carrier's limits will be rejected and not reach the intended recipient.
Listed below are steps to download attachments
From a home screen, select Applications.
    Select Gmail.
    Select an email message.
View the email message. If the email message has an attachment (e.g. jpg, gif, bmp, etc.) select one of the following attachment options:
An installed application is required to download or preview some attachment types.
    --Download
Downloads the attachment to the SD card.
    --Preview
Previews the attachment within the viewed email.
