Opening  Web Archive files in WebCT

"This document is a Single File Web Page, also known as a Web Archive file. If you are seeing this message, your browser or editor doesn't support Web Archive files. Please download a browser that supports Web Archive, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer."
This is the message I get whenever I try to access the page for class outlines, ect. They are usually powerpoint type things, but they open in Word (on Windows).
I have tried using Firefox, Opera, Safari, Internet Explorer, copy/paste into Word, and saving it as a PDF. It works perfectly on Internet Explorer when using Windows.
Is there anyway I'll be able to access these kinds of pages while I'm on a Mac?
Macbook Mac OS X (10.4.8)

When viewing brought Safari the same picture ca only be saved as a Web Archive file format.
That's because you're not saving the pictures you're saving the page that contains them.
Drag and drop the images from the Safari Window to the desktop and then import them from there to iPhoto.
iPhoto is not a web browser and cannot read web archives.

  • My challenge: recovering original iWeb files from 2010-2011 timeframe, which included a blog consisting of original postings from me and comments posted to the web from family and friends. I have the web archive files - but did not move iWeb files then.

Background:  I started this blog while living overseas and going to sea with the Navy.  Missed the opportunity to move the iWeb files with content attached from the mobile.me server to another server.  Now, I have the original web archive files - good - but not the comments added to them by family and friends - bad.
My ultimate objective is to create a hard-cover bound book of these files with the comments on the blog ... they document a rather significant experience in my family's life ... to do this, I need to recover the original files with postings.
Any thoughts or insight would be sincerely appreciated!
    Thanks, cfwnavy

You have replied to a post that is a month old now and the OP has never replied, so you are probably wasting your time here.
If you read the OP's post and my reply, you will see that he will not be able to recover his blog and neither will you.
If your Mac was stolen and you did not back up your iWeb domain.sites files, then you CANNOT get your blog back.
If you published your site to a host/server, then you can download it back onto your Mac and you will have to re-build your blog/website from scratch and re-publish, but all your replies and responses to posts will be lost and you can never get these back.
My advice would be to re-create your blog in another format such as WordPress.com which is free and don't use iWeb again.
There are plenty of alternatives out there.

  • Can't open web pdf files from my Reader DC because my IMac wants a completed license agreement to use Reader and I never saw that page during installation.

Can't open web pdf files from my newly installed Reader DC because my IMac wants a completed license to use agreement to Reader, and I never saw that page during installation.  How do I get past this?

You need to accept the EULA on first launch of the Reader DC application.
Go to the Applications folder and launch Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.
This will bring up the EULA.
Select the "Agree" button if you agree with the terms
Assuming you selected the "Agree" button, Reader DC should open.
You should now be able to open PDF files in your web browser.

  • Why does a specific web archive file show in a finder search by a specific person's name?

When searching by specific person's name in Finder, a specific .web archive file saved from a Safari browsing session appears. Why is this? Was the person's name entered into the browsing session? Was the .web archive file sent to the person?

Thank you for your initial response. Is there a way to view the web archive to see what is in the archive in detail? Cheers,

  • Open Applemail archive file in Outlook Windows

I archives my emails a long time ago from Apple Mail in Mac. I stored the file in hard drive and now I nee to access those emails again. But I don't possess that MBP but I do have a windows system in which I have installed Office 2013.
Is there any way that I can open those archives files in Outlook 2013???

Your emails are archived in different (.mbox) file format which windows outlook can't read or import.
You will first need to convert these archives files to a format (.pst) that outlook can read and import.
For email file format conversion there are various coverters available online.
You can gert a flood of solutions if you search in the right place.
Search in Google:- apple mail to outlook conversion
I have found this application the on tope charts searching in google for this query, please have a look and if you feel positive then first check the tools functioning by downloading its trial version. (none of the email converters are free)

    I hope this helps you.

  • Can't open Web Archive

Thanks for reading. I have a number of web archives saved and understood them to save whatever was shown, notwithstanding future changes to the page. Am I correct in my understanding?
Trying to open some (not all) of these pages, I get "There was one opening error... choose Activity from the Window menu." The pages will not open.
    Choosing Activity shows-
    "file:///Users/martin_bell/Documents/Documents/Finances/Sandys%20Tax/Sandy's%20 return%202006:2007.webarchive 1 of 2 items (1 error)".
These were saved on a previous iMac and transfered using target disk mode. Any ideas?
    Thanks.

    Hi Martin
safari & webarchives is a little err, less than ideal... although most of the images/items are stored in the archive - they don't always seem to get displayed by safari if they're no longer on the web - hmmm.
web archive folderizer extracts all stored items from the webarchive into folders, but doesn't produce a nice, easy to click icon that displays it all in a browser - however, it might let you find the items that don't show up.

  • Web Archive File.... Help needed!

Hey everyone, I just rcently bought a powerbook g4 for school. One of my teacher puts his notes on the internet to view. I went to the webpage and clicked on the link for the notes. A page loaded up saying that my web browser doesn't support archive files. That I need a broweser to do so, such as internet explorer. I tried downloading internet explorer but it says it's no longer avalible for apples. I called apple support and they said to try fire fox but the same error came up. I went on internet explorer on an IBM to see what the page looked like and it seems to be in a powerpoint format... I do have powerpoint downloaded, so I don't think that could be a case of the problem. What should I do? Doesnt anyone know of a browser I could use to open the archives or of a way to downloaded? Any help would be great, thanks guys!!!!.
    Seth

but you indicated that your teacher posted a page for you to get stuff... "i clicked the link" ..... so... how about downloading the file that the link goes to? or is it not a link rather a webpage?
I guess I don't know what problem you are seeing. Can you take a snapshot of the error/pages?

  • I'm trying to move a folder full of "web archive" files to my IPad Mini. It says device missing services. Any ideas?

Hey all! Recently got an IPad Mini. Already have a Macbook. I have a folder full of songs(lyrics and chords) on the Mac. The file type inside the folder are all "Web Archive". I am trying to transfer this folder to my Mini, via Bluetooth. It won't allow me to transfer, it says "device missing services"? I have no idea what this means. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

You can't transfer files to another device using bluetooth.
I'm not really sure you can transfer web archives from mac to iOS device using itunes or icloud.  Remember, on an iOS device, any file has to belong to an app.  The device does not have a file system like the mac where you can move files into any folder you want.

  • Opening web jpeg files by dragging to CS3 Photoshop Dock Icon

    G5/2.0ghz/dual/3gigRAM/OSX5.8/CS3 Suite Extended
In Tiger, why was I able to drag any web image to the dock CS3 icon and it open in CS3 Photoshop immediately, and I am unable to do this in Leopard? I have repaired by DiskUtility and Disk Warrior, repaired permissions (an especially long list each time), lastily reinstalled CS3.
I can save the web image to the desktop. Open Photoshop and find it, then open it, but I cannot drag the web image directly to the CS3 Photoshop dock icon and open the same web image.
I get the message: Photoshop does not recognize this file type.
    John R

No joy, Printer Rick. Thanks for your response.
I saved the jpeg to my desktop. In CS3, File/Open/xxxxx.jpg. Opens perfectly.
From Safari, I drag the same xxxxx.jpg to the dock CS3 icon. CS3 responds "I do not recognize this file"
I click on xxxxx.jpg on my desktop. Command+I, direct OSX58 to open all similar files in CS3 Photoshop.
    Restart the computer.
Go to the same web page, drag the image to the CS3 dock icon, and CS3 doesn't recognize it.
What am I missing from the FAQ, that someone else wants me to look at?
Or was that a lazy suggestion to me?

  • App that will read .mht (firefox web archive files in this case)

as above, tried a few which claim it, but they lose the formatting by quite a bit, just looking to be able to look through all the mht files i have that were predominantly created on firefox
    thanks for any suggestions!

If you don't mind, I am going to terminate discussion of Web Dynpro ABAP here. It is not that I want to, but we are in a difficult position with this development, and can not really discuss it too much.
But, let me first make a few (last) comments:
(*) BSP is available since WebAS 610 (which is now nearly at the end of its lifetime). WebAS 620 is the main platform out there, with NW04 (WebAS 640) now shipping, and the next product is inevitably coming. If you keep in mind that SAP supports each release at least 7 years, and we will be shipping BSP in an upcoming release, you can see that with BSP you are not going to left stranded for many years to come.
(*) Web Dynpro Java is out and shipping. A very nice development environment. You can build nice things with it.
(*) Web Dynpro ABAP: it will become a very nice product as well. We should know :). But, it will definitely not ship on NW04 platform. Which unfortunately means the next great NW shipment (both naming and date is not available).
From our experience, most people seem to make their decisions based on the available Java versus ABAP skills in the shop. However, the other factor to look at is also "pixel perfect" rendering. Only with BSP can you influence the rendering. Web Dynpro is more a development platform for business applications, and as such they must conform to the designated model/concepts, etc.

  • Opening GB3 archived file with GB2...any work-arounds?

I'm collaborating with a friend. Turns out their archived GB session was done in GB3 and I have GB2. Are there any workarounds? On my server I can see the whole archive as folders and files. My first thought was to simply download the individual .aif tracks and sync them back up in a new GB2 session. I assume all I get to start with, then, are completely dry tracks.
[just did this...but of course they used software instruments, too...can't get that stuff]
    Are there any other ideas?

Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?
Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

  • Opening a Archival UNIX Executable file

I am currently using Maverick 10.9.2 . I am trying to open an archive file amd folder.  The problem is that when I download the file, it appears as unix executable file and it cannot be opened. I have read in past posts that if the file does not have extension, it may become a unix executable file. I have changed them to .DOC, but no luck. Also when I tried to download the file later, the format changed to documents, but still could not be opened. Is there a problem because it was archived? If you have insight this problem as well, I would appreciate if you could let me know. Thanks in advance.

I'm assumimg that the file is either a zip, tar, gnuzip, or bzip2 archive. Remove the file extention from the file and move it to your desktop. From the Finder.app > Go menu > select "Go to Folder...", in the text box type- /System/Library/CoreServices . Drag the Archive Utility.app on to the dock. The Archive Utility.app icon will now appear in the dock. Drag the archive file onto the Archive Utility.app icon and the archive should be uncompressed and appear on your desktop.

  • How to trash safari web archive video files

I have a web archived video file that I need to get rid of. When I move it to the trash and execute trashing it I get the dialogue that the file cannot be trashed as I don't have the permissions to do so, ie."The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items"
I've checked the get info data and as the administrator for the eMac it shows me as having read write privileges for the file.
Is there a way to overpower whatever permissions the trash requires to get rid of this file.

I'm still not able to figure out how to trash the subject web archive file.
This sounds a lot like the problem Linda Jenkins had in her "Can't delete files" topic which was resolved when it was discovered that her desktop was locked. Upon unlocking her problem was solved.
My desktop isn't locked, so my earnest hope that I would find the same soln. has been dashed.
I've tried to use terminal to rid myself of this file using the sudo rm -rf command, but I keep getting the "operation not permitted" warning in terminal.
Now what? I suspect something very simple is causing my problem, but as a novice I'm not being successful with any of the things I've tried.
