Opening web form in SmartView 11.1.2 - decimal formatting

I have a web form that consist of regular rows (accounts) and formula rows. The form is setup to display minimum 0 and maximum 2 decimal places for all cell types and this format is correct when I display the web form in Planning. However, when I open this web form through SmartView, these cell type precision does not retain. In fact, it always display round up whole number for regular rows and 2 decimal places for formula rows. Is this a default for SmartView? I am aware of the setting in Options > Formatting that allows me to change the decimal places, but it seems to apply to the entire grid instead of a particular row.
My client is very specific on their format and they want to open up the web form via SmartView. Ideally we want the format that shows up in Planning to be the same in SmartView. It will be greatly appreciated if anyone can shed some light whether this can be done or not.

Click on File>Preferences in the workspace and you get the preferences window. If you choose Planning from the left hand side, then navigate to the "Display Options" tab, you can change the "Allow Search When Number of Pages Exceeds:" setting to be a very high number (e.g. 99999999). Click OK and return to the form and you will be presented with a "normal" drop down list. Note this is a global setting for every form.

Opening web form in SmartView 11.1.2.103 - display name and alias

Hi,
Through some useful forum here, I have upgraded our SmartView, APS and Essbase to version 11.1.2.103 in order to display name and alias in SmartView. However, since I am very new to Hyperion overall, I am still exploring whether it is my limited knowledge with the product or if it's limitation of the product. My client wants to open up an existing web form in SmartView and shoe name and alias in separate columns. Is this possible? I have tried many combinations but I was only able to open up the form in SmartView having name and alias in single column. Any tips and tricks to achieve what I want will be greatly appreciated.

This is by design. There was strong customer feedback asking for the ability to show the POV in the first row and not have the POV toolbar on. This feedback came from longtime Essbase customers and partners. If you click the POV button this row gets hidden and you can use the toolbar just like you did in the past in Smart View (no loss of functionality). For Essbase the default is to show the POV on the sheet.
We have continued improvements planned but here are some of the key point that drove this change:
1 - Printing the POV - Having the POV on the sheet gives the user the ability to format and print using native Excel functionality.
2 - Flexible Freeform - With the POV on the sheet the user can easily change their POV or the grid orientation by typing or using native Excel formulas, list features, or VBA.
3 - Ability to copy grids from one sheet to another with no loss of the POV. Simply copy and paste.

Time to open Web forms too long for the first connexion !!

When we first open a web form in the day, the time to open it, is greater than 10 minuts ( the CPU time used to retrieve the webform is measured at about 20 seconds)
When we do open the webform a second time it takes about 20 seconds to open it!!
Have someone meet this case?
What do we have to change in order to enhance the openning duration of the webforms?

Does it take 10 minutes to open on the server, if it takes 10 minutes on the server and only 20 seconds of that is CPU processing then are you saying for over 9 minutes it is rendering the form in your browser, you can check the browser process on the machine.
If you do want to check or increase the maximum heap size then have a read of :- Re: Heap sizes with Planning11.1.1.3 & Weblogic help
I would also check how much memory the JVM is using when opening the form, you can check using task manager on the server or better still use something like process explorer.

Adobe Pro 9 will not open web form

when I go to aspacific web site and attempt to run a report which pops up as a web form.should be openning in Acrobat.Dream Weaver attempts to open the file.
What is wrong?

By "web form" do you mean an html < form> or are you talking about a .pdf that is opening wrong, or some other file type?

Hiearchy in Planning Web Form Collapes after user Submits in SmartView

We currently have Hyperion Planning 11.1.1.3.0 & SmartView 11.1.1.3.00
I have a end user who opens a Planning Web Form via SmartView. When form is opened the Hiearchy in the rows are fully expanded.
When the user hits "Submit Data" the hiearchy collapes to the top Parent level.
I have confirmed that the Planning Webform does NOT have suppress hiearchy selected.
Is there some setting in SmartView or Planning that I am missing that would account for this?
I would appreciate it if anyone had any suggestions.

I faced some issue similar to this in past with version 9.2, As iam updating security on planning and it works fine for data forms when i perform security refresh.
but when user access those from excel the filters doesn't get update on EAS filters. after two hours investigation even though i update some filters on planning
side after security refresh it doesn't get affected on essbase filters. the reason when security refresh is done the filters getting in to cache memory and doing nothing on essbase, so work around is to delete one particular filter on essbase and then perform security refresh so that it gets updated.

Error while opening planning web Forms

Hi ,
I am facing the below error whenever I am trying to open the planning web form.
"Target Unreachable, 'formManagement' returned null
ADF_FACES-60097:For more information, please see the server's error log for an entry beginning with: ADF_FACES-60096:Server Exception during PPR, #40"
Could you please help me on this?

Hyperion Planning Web Forms slow

Hi All,
We are using Planning 9.3.1 and while opening web forms in the system which is just a simple form it takes too long time to open it. Can anyone suggest some ways to make opening of the web forms fast.

It may not be a bad idea for a few of us to get enhancement requests in asking for better support for larger forms -- seems it has to be a Planning issue as if you do the same type of activity in an Essbase lock/send it's lightning fast.
When you say the form is slow with 1750 cells, is this taking 5 seconds, 10 seconds, 30, 2 min, ...?
I would say anything that's sub 10 seconds for a form that size is pretty normal. How many sparse dimensions are you using?
Unless you do have slow link to the planning server than I do not believe taking advantage of those settings will influence the speed you are seeing as if you were to use only dense dimensions with similar cell size it would be fast which tells me the performance issue is on the planning server side.
Regarding the SQL queries -- I'm not convinced that alone is the reason for poor performance on large forms. I believe it's more how planning communicates with Essbase and handles security of all the dimensions as well.
You should also realize your client (IE/Firefox) will tend to use a lot of memory on large forms -- I've seen it take up to 500mb on very large forms.
In your instance I'm not sure using suppress missing and blocks will help out a lot. The premise is you create data in say the BegBalance Period on a monthly form in the intersections which are valid for data entry with a rule/calc script. You then you turn on the suppress missing option on the form and it will restrict the number of cells which planning pulls from Essbase as well as those cells sent to the browser.

Planning Web Form Differences with SmartView Form

We have a planning form that "hides" (hide the segment on the data form option enabled) a couple of columns. This works fine when we open the planning form via the planning web application. However, if we open the same form via Excel/SmartView the form shows the columns that should be hidden. Has anyone come accross this issue? We are on Hyperion Planning/Essbase v11.1.1.3.

Planning web and smartview front ends have not walked at the same pace so far. You are facing one of the many variations between web and smartview. Another critical difference is the lack of composite forms in smartview which made us decide to rule out the usage of smartview in number of cases. However, luckily this is bound to change in 11.1.2 release as I see from the way things are happenning.

Error shown in Web form doesnt pop up in Smartview

I have a web form where users enter data in runtime prompts and there is a validation which prompts an error if the user selects an year less than the current forecast year. This error is hanlded through a script and @return function.
Th errors popsup when the user selects the year in webform but if the same form is opened in smartview, and the user selects an year less than the forecast year, the error is not popping up.

Opening composite form from workspace in SmartView (global dimensions prob)

There is a composite form consists of 2 sections, 1 form in the upper and 3 in the lower part, 3 global dimensions, 1 section dimension for lower section. If i change some global dimensions a form itself is changed properly, all simple forms change their point of view (pages dimension), but when i open this form using "Open in SmartView" feature from Hyperion interface changes of global dimensions are not applied to simple form EXCEPT upper form and active form in lower section. I'd like to note that changes of section dimension are applied properly for all simple form of whole section.
Also when i'm trying to change some page dimension in opened form in smartview my excel simply crashes
Could anybody share an advice how to fix it or if it is fixable at least?

Dimensions in composite forms are global, in simple form they all are the same, so global dimensions are set properly. The problem is exactly in opening composite form FROM Web-interface HP into SmartView, for example if global dimension is set to October, and i open this in SmartView i would see October only on form, which were active at the moment of opening.
For example, 1 form upper setion, 3 froms lower section, ilvl0Descendnats(YearTotal) is global, i open form in web-interface, switch to 2nd form in lower section and change point of view to October, open in SmartView, 4 sheets are opened in excel, october would be set properly on a sheet with form from upper section and 2nd form from lower section, two other form from lower section would be have January set. Hope it's clear now.
The trouble is not in form settings but in "Open in SmartView" feature

On my Mac, when I attempt to open a form from a web site, the Reader does not open. It used to.

On my Mac os 10.6.8, when I attempt to open a form from a web site, the Reader (10.1.2) does not automatically open as it used to. What can I do to correct this problem?

It sounds like your file associations are messed up and Reader is trying to open your .jpg files. Is this correct?

Open a form from a 3rd party Java/Web based application

Hi All,
I am working for a client who has a 3rd party web application built in Java.
For one of his requirements, he wants to open a form, an apps standard form on the click of a button/url in their application.
This appears like a normal form opening from the single-signon screen where you have the self service single sign-on page, it opens the apps forms on click of the url. Can we use the same logic here? This being the case, just curious to know how is the url to open the form built? (I see that the function name, resp id etc are there in the url) So that, I can actually manipulate the url to open the forms from a url. Please see that the custom application also is included into our Oracle apps, so the user is already logged in. We just need to open the form from the click of a url/button.

If the ICX_SESSION is already available then the form(I am assuming you are refering to a web based form here) should open directly if the function should be accessible to the user logged in. When you say your custom application is included in Oracle apps are you launching these pages from the Ebiz home page through menus and functions ?

I am unable to use my client' web forms that are required for my job. It's a pdf that can be filled out and submitted within a web page. new firefox will only download and open as a regular pdf. NOT OK! HELP!!

I need to find out how to make these pdf web forms work again!! I have to use IE now and I HATE IE. Please don't prove me wrong after I've been telling people how amazing firefox is for years. I can no longer do my job with your browser

Thank you very much for your suggestions.
But I am not creating a custom workflow in designer as Laura has mentioned. I am instead trying to create a new Out of the box Approval Workflow and I get the error mentioned above.
As it works in other environment, I tried figuring out the possible differences which can lead to this error.
Today I found one difference which is there are no form Templates within Infopath Configurations in Central Admin. Now I am trying to figure out what makes this form templates to be added to the template gallery.

Why can I not open the web form link in ms outlook

I copied a link to my web form to ms outlook recipients. They cannot open the link.

Are all the recipients using Outlook? Which version? Can they open any other web links from Outlook? Could you send me a copy of the form link to [email protected]?
