I tried to open an attachment that was in an email. It is a .wmv
It would not open. The only option I was given was to put it in a new email.
I just wanted to watch the video not send it to someone else. I

If I forced quitted it when I restarted it began on the same message and froze again. After several tries, as soon Mail came on I quickly moved to a different message and it worked. Don't know why Apple can't do anything about it. Even if they can't or won't handle wmv attachemets they can fix it so that the program does not freeze. They can just say, sorry cannot open attachemt and that's it rather than let Mail itself freeze.

The mail app will not display fillable form fields in PDF files that can be seen in real PDF apps. I say real PDF apps because the form fields in PDF apps will not appear in the iBooks app either. IMO, iBooks is not a real PDF app.
So, I would say that the mail app cannot differentiate between hidden and non hidden items

Anyone else has this problem? I can get around it by going to my Verizon account and opening such attachemets from their mail page.

No there isn't.
WMV is a proprietary Microsoft format which requires Windows Media Player to view the video. In the past Microsoft has a Windows Media Player version for OS X on a the Mac to view these files, but Microsoft stopped providing and supporting it for OS X a long time ago. A 3rd party purchased some rights from Microsoft to provide this capability on a Mac, which is called Flip4Mac. There is not an iPhone version for this and doubtful if Microsoft has any plans to provide support for viewing Windows Media Player files with the iOS for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad.

Creating or opening and attachment in Mail freezes the Dock

On my MBP, when opening or creating an attachment in Mail, the Dock becomes frozen.
Clicking on it has no effect and the white dot remains on Apps that have closed; it is totally frozen. (It acts like a picture of the Dock>)
Restarting clears it.
Sometimes, but not always, Logging out and back in clears it.
I reapplied the SL updater, this time starting up from the upgrade disk.
I have repaired permissions and run Preferential Treatment to look for corrupted preferences, no problem identified.

Quit Mail if it's open
Try dragging your Mail icon up off the Dock. It will go "poof" ... then open your Applications folder and launch Mail. If the Dock isn't cooperating, select the Mail icon and click: Keep in Dock.
If that doesn't work... even though you used PT, locate this file.
com.apple.Dock.plist
/Users/YourName/Library/Preferences. Drag that file from the Preferences folder to the Trash, empty the Trash and restart your Mac.

Error while Opening PDF attachment from Mail

We two Output Types created ZNEU and ZAUF. Two Smartforms are created for the same Output Types. The Issue now is, When ZNEU triggers and send a mail the document is properly decoded and gets opened but for ZAUF it doesn't. It says File damaged.

And if you are not clear about where the error is, try searching sdn or google with the error message that you are getting as this issue has been discussed many times earlier.

Can't open mime-attachment in mail

Sometimes mail is forwarded to my iPhone from my Yahoo! account as a mime-attachment and the iPhone won't open it, so I can't read the message. Any suggestions?

I figured out that if the email is formatted as plain text, an attachment coming from Outlook can be read, whereas if the email message is in HTML format (my PC Outlook default), it cannot.
This could well be a good workaround for you - send your email message in plain text format whenever you include an attachment.
Has anyone figured out a way to solve this - where you can view an attachment to an HTML formatted email?

Open PDF Attachment with Adobe Reader put GW to background

Hello all,
We have problems with opening pdf attachments from GroupWise client 12.02 with Adobe Reader 11.0.06. The attachment opens fine, but when opening the attachment, the mail and GroupWise client immediately are placed to the background in Windows. So when closing Adobe Reader, the user won't come back in the mail but in another application that was open and the user have to click on groupwise in the taskbar to go back to the mail.
There is no problem with opening other attachments from other applications (like Word or Excel) or when opening the pdf with Adobe Standard. It happens with every user.
They are working in a Citrix Xenapp 6.5 environment on Windows 2008R2 (it also happens if working in a RDS session)
Any thoughts?

Are you trying to say that all of the apps mentioned are running as
XENapps? If not please specify which are local vs remote.
What is the client OS being run as that may also factor in.
Worth trying another PDF reader such as FoxIT reader to better see
which side is driving that behaviour.

I'm from Austria, not so far away! The file that you've received seems to be a Windows Media File and you may need a special software for your iPad to be able to open it. I've found something HERE.
If you open this link on your iPad it should take you to the App Store, resp. open it. The price for this app is 1,59 €.

Error while opening PDF attachment sent via mail

Hi,
I am attaching PDF file to PO in me22n and sending the same file as attachment in the mail to the vendor using class CL_BCS.
The mail is sent to the vendor successfully and they are able to successfully open the PDF attachment. But in some cases the mail is successfully received but while opening the attachment it is giving the error as file is corrupted.
Please help me to resolve this issue.

Hi,
I would like to know what font type, you are using in the forms.
Ideally it should be HELVETICA .
If you are using any other font in your style/form,try changing it to HELVETICA & Test.
Also Check the OTF data at the call of gen. FM,before converting it to PDF.

Error in opening pdf file from mail attachment sent thru MII

Hi,
I am using MII 12.1.4 build(36).
I have created a pdf file from BLS using PDF actions block and saving the file in web location as mentioned below:
WEB://<ProjectFolder>/<subfolder>/Report.pdf
I'm using the same file as attachment in my m a i l action block with attachment content type "application/pdf" and AttachmentContent "ImageSaver.EncodedImage" or "PDFDoc.Output".
When i check the mail,i can see the attachment with some size of 8kb,but when I open the file i will get below error:
"Adobe Reader could not open Report.pdf because it is either not supported file type or because the file has been damaged(for example,it was sent as an m a i l attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)"
If I try to open the same file by exporting fit to my desktop,it opened properly.
Anything I'm missing here?

Then I deployed the new patch ie SP07.
Here there is one problem,ie in Menu page I can see the 12.1.7(Build40),when I open the workbech,it shows the previous patch 12.1.4(Build 36).Why is it so?
All of my transactions running fine except the one which I have mentioned in my previous post.
When I run the transaction mentioned in my previous post,it threw an excption for PDF Table Action block and the error mentioned below:
[ERROR] Error found trying to execute action 'PDF_Table_0' Exception: [null]
[ERROR] [PDF_Table_0] Action: Runtime threw an exception. Exception: [java.lang.StackOverflowError]
When I can check the m a i l, I'm able to open the attached PDF file without error but without data.Is it because of the above mentioned error?
