Opening Word, Spreadsheets or PDF from within Report 6

We have documents stored into the database and want to retrieve them using Reports 6. I know that report 6 does not support these file formats within the preview. But is there another way to invoke or open other viewers like acrobat or word from Report 6 or any other way to make it work? Have seen it work in a application using reports 6 but don't have the source to see how the have done it. Please help me out here.
Thanks,
Amé

I'm browsing through the help but there is nothing. I think it needs to be done with some url statement which will invoke a servlet once the report is runned on the 9ias webserver. In report itselves i see no way to getting to show the BLOB content in the report. There must be people out there who have done this, it seems to me this must be a standard operation. So why has Oracle not documented this properly?

  • What is the best process for creating, opening, editing, etc PDFs from within Visual Studio 2008?

I am the project manager on a web-based application that will need to:
Create, open, edit, save, etc PDFs from within a Visual Studio 2008 web application (Visual Basic).
Populate PDFs from SQL server 2010 database.
Allow users to use PDF editing tools from within the website.
BTW, the application is being written in Visual Basic.
Will the SDK allow us to do this? What licenses do we need to purchase?
Are there 3rd party plugins that make doing these things much faster and simpler?
    Any input is GREATLY appreciated!!!
    Sincerely,
    Mike

I don't think Acrobat, or the Acrobat SDK can help you. Acrobat cannot be run on a server.

  • Saving/Opening documents to SharePoint 2013 from within Office 2010 applications

I was hoping that Office 2010 would work nicely together in terms of saving to and opening documents from SharePoint 2013. Alas, I was disappointed and somewhat surprised to see that opening/saving documents in SharePoint from within Office still
involves copying, pasting and hacking the URL of the document library in the Save or Open dialogue box. I was fully expecting that Office 2010 would have display some sort of SharePoint navigation so you could view your sites and document libraries in a similar
way to folders. A mature document management system this ain't!
Anyone have any advice on how to improve the Open/Save to/from SharePoint experience in Office 2010? I'm open to the idea of Office add-ins whether third party or official Microsoft.
    Thanks in advance

Thanks for the reply, but that's from within SharePoint, not Office?
An example scenario: I create a new document or receive a document, I'm in the document, and I want to publish the document to a document library in SharePoint. At the moment I would have to save the document, load up SharePoint, navigate to the document
library and then go through the upload process.
I should really be able to, from within Word, select File - Save to SharePoint (say) and then be able to navigate to the document library I want to publish to. Really basic DMS stuff that I'm surprised isn't there!
Similar thing to opening a document. I should be able to Open from SharePoint, navigate to the document library via some sort of navigation box, and open it.
    Thoughts appreciated.

  • I can no longer open word or excel files from my email in firefox, i can in all other browsers. it started november 5, 2014

Yesterday afternoon, out of the blue, I can no longer open word or excel documents from my gmail account in firefox browser on windows 7. I can in all other browsers. The error message is "There was a problem sending the command to the program"

As a workaround, does it work to save the files first and then open them after saving?
Sometimes when Firefox has problems handing off a download to another program it is caused by a corrupted settings file. That file is hard to edit, so usually we suggest renaming the file to see whether that resolves the issue. Here's how:
Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using either
    * "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
    * (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
    * type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
In the first table on the page, click the "Show Folder" button. This should launch a new window listing various files and folders.
Leaving that window open, switch back to Firefox and Exit, either:
    * "3-bar" menu button > "power" button
    * (menu bar) File > Exit
Pause while Firefox finishes its cleanup, then rename '''mimeTypes.rdf''' to something like mimeTypes.old
Start Firefox back up again and test your Gmail attachments. Any improvement?
Note: This resets some preferences to their defaults, such as which PDF viewer Firefox uses. If you need to update that again, please see this article: [[How to disable the built-in PDF viewer and use another viewer]].

  • Printing Word documents to PDF from Office Web Apps Server 2013 yields inaccessible PDF files

I have Office Web Apps Server 2013 SP1 with March 2015 CU applied. The version shows up as "15.0.4569.1506" using Todd Klindt's
method. When anonymous users view the Word documents online through the Office Web Apps, they have an option to print them to PDF. The PDF file that gets generated as a result isn't accessible
(i.e. it isn't WCAG-compliant). using Adobe Acrobat Pro to check it I can see that it is missing tags, for example. The source Word document was made fully accessible from the point of view of Microsoft Office accessibility tools.
When viewing the same document in Word Online in Office 365, I get an extra option  "Download as PDF". The PDF document produced is accessible. If I save a Word 2013 document as a PDF from within the Word editor, it also generates accessible
    PDF.
I was wondering if the reason for the accessibility problem that I have misconfigured my on-premises Office Web Apps,  or perhaps the accessibility compliance isn't built in yet. If the latter is true, I was wondering if someone could indicate whether
or not this is on the list of upcoming CUs.
    thanks in advance.

Just check my WAC install, no this is likely an Office online only feature, at least at this point in time.

  • I have a problem creating a pdf from within Firefox using the print to function.

I have a problem creating a PDF from within Firefox. I get an error message stating that Adobe PDF creation cannot continue because Acrobat is not activated. Acrobat Pro then opens. If it try to create the PDF again, the same problem. I have FF ver 3.6.10 and Acrobat Pro 8 (from Acrobat CS3).

  • Convert Word 2003 to PDF from command line

I've had a good look through these forums, but can't get a definitive answer to this question:
Can I use Acrobat Pro to convert a Word 2003 doc to PDF using the Windows command line?
We have an automated report generation process which creates a Word doc. This tends to have lots of TIF images so the Word doc can end up being >15MB. The batch process, run from the command line, then converts the doc into a PDF using PDFCreator (http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/).
The problem is that the PDFs are then >15MB, which is too big to email to customers (that's also part of the batch process).
However, if I take the same large Word doc and save it as a PDF in Acrobat Pro, then the PDF is only about 2MB. So Acrobat is doing some more compression than PDFCreator. I've tried all the options on PDFCreator, but I can't make the PDF as small as the Acrobat version.
Any idea how I can get Acrobat Pro (or Distiller?) to convert a Word doc to PDF from the command line?
    Thanks,
    Johnny

Actually, the question boils down to; does the framework support the fonts?
I believe that my question re. this working in the designer was valid. The designer does not use the framework, so if it works there, it is either a framework issue or a runtime print engine issue.
I believe if you use the code below, it will list fonts available to the framework:
    foreach(FontFamily ff in FontFamily.Families)
    System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine(ff.Name);

  • Secure PDF from Crystal Reports

What's the best way to secure a .pdf from Crystal Reports? I'm using reportdocument.exporttostream(ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat) in vb.net(VS2005) to create an IO.MemoryStream which is then sent via email. I'd like to add a password to this file before it's sent by email.....is it possible?

At least one of the 3rd-party Crystal report Desktop Scheduling tools listed at: http://www.kenhamady.com/bookmarks.html
provides this functionality.  It even allows you to dynamically control the password via a field/formula inside the Crystal report. It can also take care of the emailing part.  You can call and request the processing from your own application (via a command line API).

We are doing the following steps to create a pdf.

    Hi Shiv
As I said, only TTF fonts are supported with the PDF format otherwise it will give an error message as "Failed to export". Enhancement request for the same has been raised. It might get fixed in the coming service pack.
Try exporting the report which is using only ttf.

  • Print a pdf from within Safari.

SORRY, will repost in safari for Mac
    Hi
If I print pdf files from within Safari 4, the text does not print at all, only lines, tables and boxes.
If i save the same pdf file to the hard drive and open it with Adobe Reader, it prints perfectly. Is there anything obvious that I am doing wrong?
I am using SL, and a Lexmark c522 if it helps.

  • Background Colour Incorrect when exporting to PDF from Crystal Reports 2008

    Hello All
When exporting to PDF from CR2008 the background colour of the crosstab is incorrectly displayed. The problem is as follows to create a crosstab with a grey header row and column details in white we have used the following trick.
Format Cross Tab Border Background is set to Silver.
Crosstab Expert Grand Total Background colour is set to white.
The result is a crosstab with header in grey and details in white.
This report displays correctly in CR2008, and exports as seen on screen to everything but PDF. When exporting to PDF the Crosstab is completely grey taking on only the Background colour of silver, and ignoring the Grand Total Background colour being set to white.
What is strange that when I print to PDF the format is also displayed exactly as required,
Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
    Some additional details.

    Adobe Reader version 9.3.3

If this is a big issue for you then please purchase a case and a Rep can duplicate and escalate to R&D.
As a work around export to Editable RTF and in Word 2007 you can get a PDF export plug-in and then export to PDF.
    Thank you
