Opening XFDF E-Mail Attachments

Quite possibly this issue has been addressed so feel free to point me to a fix -
When opening XFDF e-mail attachments a blank Acrobat window opens and usually -- but not always -- a browser window opens where the dynamically-generated PDF is displayed. This occurs with either IE7, IE8, or Firefox used as the default browser.
The unfortunate aspect of this is that it confuses my users as they are automatically looking for the document in the Acrobat window and not in a new browser window.
Is anyone aware of a fix for this issue?

Normally XFDF would be downloaded and then imported into the form. If you think of it this way, it is probably easier to explain to folks. If the basic form that is referenced in the XFDF is moved, you would actually get an error.

  • After I updated iOS 5 can´t use the "open with" for mail attachments.

After I updated iOS 5 on my iPad 2, I can not use the "open with" for mail attachments. The option is not appearing.
For example, when I try to open an .wmv attachment the iOS 5 doesn´t show "open with". Before update, I was able to open with "AZUL" software.
    Can anyone help me?

You did say that the option does not appear at all in mail no matter which file type you want to open correct? I can only assume that something went corrupt in the update that affected your settings and that's why this option no longer appears. For experimental purposes, you could try emailing a PDF to yourself and see if that will allow you to use the Open in function in the mail app.
If nobody else jumps into this discussion with a different idea, then maybe you should try restoring your iPad. The best way to do so is - first backup the device - and then restore to factory settings and then you can try restoring from a backup at the end of the process.
However, if one of your settings is corrupt, the backup will be corrupt as well. It may be that you will have to restore to factory settings and then start all over again - adding your apps and content back to the device to get the best results. I would certainly use this process as a last resort. Restoring from a backup maybe all that you need to do.

I have installed flash player version 17.0.0.134 for mac and now I cant open any e-mail attachments. I have been through the checks and it is installed correctly. Can anyone help? panda

I don't know how this works on a Mac; on Windows you need the Flash Player Projector (not the plugin) to view stand-alone SWF files: https://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html

    Hi,
What type of account did you setup in Outlook? Exchange, IMAP or POP3?
Please go to the Webmail site, check if the attachments are still ok.
Kindly create a new profile to setup the account again, check if the attachments are alright:

I have never had trouble opening attachments in Yahoo mail only since updating Firefox. They open fine when using IE

hello ahegarty, you could try using the [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/pdfjs/ PDF Viewer] addon, for more details also see [[PDF files are blank and can't be downloaded on Mac]].

  • Can't open PDF e-mail attachments

Windows 7, MS Outlook, Reader XI
If someone sends me an e-mail with PDF attachments, I can only open them one at a time.
If I double-click one attachment, it opens in Adobe Reader (XI). If I double-click another, there's a flicker and then nothing.  I have to close not only the first file, but close down Reader too, before the next file will open.  Very tedious.  Has anyone else had this problem and is there a solution?
Occasionally, some time later (>5mins), when I'm doing something entirely unrelated one of these files will suddenly open up.  It's as though the request to open a PDF is being backed up somewhere.  Mostly though, they just don't open unless I go through the process above.  With Reader closed down, the first PDF I try to open comes right up with no delay at all.

  • Windows users can't open my e-mail attachments

Just got my MacBook yesterday and I created some business cards using Pages. I want someone who uses Windows to be able to see them so I sent the Pages document as an attachment through Mail. They can get the e-mail and read the text of it, but they can't open the attachment. She said to try to send it as a .jpg or .gif but I have no idea how to do that.
    Can anyone offer any advice?

You should try setting the attachments to be "windows friendly" in Mail. Edit > Attachments > Always Send Windows Friendly Attachments
There are more suggestions in this document, but I would do the windows friendly thing first: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mail/3.0/en/9965.html

  • People are unable to open my e-mail attachments. How can I fix this ?

I have just switched from a pc to a mac. I have been attaching j-pegs to the e-mails via the safety pin icon to my e-mails. Recipients can see the images on their computers but cannot open them to save or copy them. Am I doing something wrong?

From the Mail menu bar, select
Edit ▹ Attachments ▹ Always Send Windows-Friendly Attachments

  • Cannot Open PDF E-mail Attachments

I have Windows 2000 XP .. and Adobe Reader 8.1 and until recently I was able to open PDF attachments. But, for the past several weeks, I am able to download the attachments, the files can be found in My Documents, but I am absolutely unable to OPEN them. I try and sometimes get an error notice, but most times, the hour-glass timer shows up like a blip on the screen and disappears and NOTHING happens with the file. What can I do to fix this?

Could not open email document. Message given, not a supported file type. What does this mean? I am on Yahoo mail, windows vista.

  • Is anyone using PAM for archiving e-mail? I am having trouble opening archived e-mail attachments using Firefox. I know the reason for this is part of the url gets left out when using Firefox. Works fine with Internet Explorer.

This part of the path https://mail.domain.org/owa/ (see below) when place in allows Firefox to open the attachment.

Autodiscover service on Exchange seems to be ok from the result of testing. We might change our mind and check if this is a network issue.
If you are using Windows 7 or higher version OS, try to run the following command in CMD to disable the Autotuning function:
Netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=disabled

  • Adobe Reader will not open my e-mail attachments !

I recntly received two rather important e-mail attachements which I cannot access because Adob Reader could not open them.
This has never happened to me before.!

You seem to be slightly confused. This is a public user to user forum, not a customer support forum or chat room. No Adobe personnel is assigned to answer questions here. And although the forum is operative 24/7 (because answers are provided by fellow users in different countries of the world), there is no guaranty that any given question will receive a prompt answer.
Incidentally, questions without enough background information such as yours are less likely to be answered immediately. It's a waste of time for all those involved to start a QA session just to collect all the information that is necessary to give a good answer to a question.

  • Downloaded latest IOS update and now can't open apps or mail attachments.  Help?

Just downloaded the latest IOS update on my iPad and now can no longer access app's or attachments in my mail box.
I am receiving my e-mail but cannot access the internet, Google etc
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Many thanks

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.

  • TS1506 I have a problem opening some email attachments. They will not open in the mail application on an IPad Air

I recently upgraded from an iPad 1 to an Air. One of its main uses is to avoid printing volumes of papers for meetings, so the abilty to open attachments with mail is pretty important.
There are some attachments that will not open in the mail application on an iPad Air. Some in the same format do (docx). They do open in Mail on my MacBook, and iPad1, or if I go to webmail on any device including a Blackberry, so it is not a file corruption problem.  The problem persists on different networks. Other emails from the same sender do work. It seems to be specifically related to IOS 7 or the Mail app. Quickview won't work, nor will opening with a range of Apps which report a file error.
There was an historical problem with Apple garbling pdf files, but this is a new one on me.
All this is a shame because it is opening emails in attachments that was one of my main reasons for buying an Air.
Does anyone know of the cause? A solution?

    What about a work-around?
Ios 7.1 etc. has a problem with communicating with exchange.  There are lots of reports of problems with pdf files.
The work-arounds mentioned here may be of assistnace.

  • Mail attachments in leopard do not open correctly

I have noticed my mail attachments on my macbook do not open correctly. When I get attachments in mail on my IMac using, Tiger they appear directly under the e-mail. Even quicktime apps. On my macbook, which is using leopard, they usually are in the form of am attachment you must click on which in turn opens another window. Today I got a Merry Christmas wave sent to me. It works fine on my IMac. It is a mime file. On my macbook it doesn't do anything. It just says Merry Christmas. No wave, no turning into Santa, nothing! They are both there in the same spot, (no attachment to click on in the macbook) all my mail preferences are identical, but it doesn't work. Can anyone please tell me why? I am still new to a mac and frustrated. Thanks

Try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. The screen will go blank and then power ON again in the normal way.] It is app and data safe!
