Regards,

Hi,
It just returns 0 which means failed to open file. And I am using Adobe Acrobat 8.1.3 on window XP.
You can test this in the sample application named ActiveViewVC.
So I want to know whether we can open password-protected file using the OpenInWindowEx method or not?.
Please let me know your response

Arvind

  • How to open password protected files in Numbers for iPad?

In my company, there are formats created in Excel 2010 which have password-protetected cells. Neither Numbers, nor Doccuemts to Go can't open them.
The workaround is having someone open the file in my office and re-save it in an older version, but it messes up with the formatting and it's simply not a practical solution.
Documents to Go still doesn't support Office 2010 password protected files. Numbers niether, so does anyone know of any app that can solve my problem?

Go to the App Store on your iPad and download Adobe Acrobat DC (formerly called Reader).
Open it and click on Help. Then click on Handbook. Read the section on "Open PDFs in Acrobat DC"

  • Can't open password-protected files in iDisk

No forum dedicated to iDisk, so I hope this is OK here. I uploaded files from my Mac to iDisk and can see them on my iPad, but I can't open my own password-protected files. Do I need to go back to my Mac and remove the passwords or am I missing something? I can open all non password-protected files.

    No forum dedicated to iDisk
Except this one: MobileMe > MobileMe on my Mac > MobileMe iDisk

  • Open Password protected files - up to version 9

The Acrobat reader released for Android will only open version 6 files with ANY  type of security applied. As a publisher, I need to be able to publish secure  documents in current formats (version 9). Saving back 3 revs is a little crazy and  can only prevent printing, not access and can be cracked for free in seconds. Need to be able open Version 9  and older password protected files (access and printing control).  Thanks.

The third party solutions rely on features in the Desktop / PC Reader (like JavaScript) that are not supported in the Mobile Reader. So, when your school says you must use Adobe Reader it means the desktop Reader and its full feature set. If you have a sample file and can share it, I can verify, but the problem you describe sounds exactly like one of these third-party protection solutions. Typically, they embed a login field in the document itself and use JavaScript to communicate with a server for verification. The solutions supported by the Mobile Reader either use password protection as documented in the PDF specification where the Reader does not need to validate with a server, or they use the Adobe LiveCycle Rights Management. I’d like to figure out how to support these third party solutions in the Adobe Reader Mobile product, but without help from the vendor, it will take some time and possibly reverse engineering which features of the Adobe Reader Desktop product they are using.

  • Open password protected file without password?  Lost my password.

I lost my password to a Pages protected file and must find a way to open it without the password.

Best not to pull your brain apart trying to decipher the password issue. I lost my password recently and went nearly 8 months of stress trying every combination possible to open. My issue was my laptop. I was completely locked out. Until I got help on this Forum to remedy my issue. Since your issue concerns Pages I cannot imagine what strategies you could use or dream up. Save yourself by recreating your document if possible. Saving face is better than "stress sleep" that deprives your health and creates a host of other stress related issues. Start over and create another Pages document.

  • Microsoft office 2011 under Mavericks: can not open password protected files

I think that it all started with the installation of Mavericks.
I have a few Microsoft office 2011 files (excel and word) that are passord protected. Now, it's telling me that the file can not be opened due to an encrytion sheme that is not available in this country (I'm in Canada).
I've re-installed Microsoft Office, but that did not solve the problem.
    Thanks

Same problem for me, I had two password-protected Word files and  both won't open now. It started after i tried to add support for an additional language (spanish), but removing it afterwards did not fix the problem.
OS 10.9, Office mac 2008 AND 2011 wont open the files BUT Preview can open it! (BTW this saved me)

Thanks for the prompt reply. I am not able to catch any exception in particular. But OpenInWindowEx() is returning false.
Can you please advise on whether any plug in is already available for that

  • Open Password Protection

If I create a "Full Text Index..." on a group of pdf's and then go back and set open password protection on one or more of the files and try and search from the indexed file password protected file(s) are not accessable.
The links to these open password protected files linked and opened in version 7 but no longer do with Acrobat 9 or X, on OS X or Windows.
    Any suggestions?

Open firmware password protection is something to keep the honest person honest but it won't stop someone with a little knowledge and physical access to the inside of the computer. There's also that slight inconvenience when you want to boot off an install disk (to run Disk Utility), or boot into open firmware or single user mode.
Removal of RAM to zap the PRAM is a commonly discussed method of defeating the open firmware password protection.
For real protection of your documents, consider inserting sensitive files in an encrypted disk image, just don't forget the password, I've never heard of a hack to defeat and encrypted disk image.

  • Acrobat XI Pro for OSX can't open password-protected pdfs created using Acrobat 9 Pro for Windows

I am having problems opening password-protected files created on a PC using Acrobat 9 Pro.  I am running a MacBook Pro OSX 10.8.4 with Acrobat XI Pro.  When I attempt to enter the password when prompted, a dialogue box pops up saying that I've entered the incorrect password.  After many attempts, I am certain that the password entered is correct -- this is reinforced by the fact that i am able to open the same document using Mac's Preview software.
    Any assistance would be appreciated!
    Thanks.

I was suddenly having the same problem in Acrobat XI Pro for Windows (recently upgraded to CC from Acrobat X).  For the past while I've sometimes had to use the "insert from file" tool to get a page added from another file.  I couldn't figure out why dragging sometimes would no longer work, but was too busy to go looking for a solution until tonight.
The solution was given by JoshTatum24 above. Switch from a scrolling page display to single page display.  Now I can drag pages between documents again.  THANK YOU Josh!
Oh, and CORREAdmin,  it does not matter whether the hand or arrow selection tool is active, my mouse pointer is always an arrow when positioned in the page thumbnails panel.  Switching selection tools does not make a difference in dragging, but switching between scrolling and single page display definitely DOES make the difference.

  • Can not  open  a  password protected file from OSX2.8 in OSX4.x

I have a few files that I password protected in OSX2.8 that will not open now in OSX 4.6. The are not part of the vault type protection. It seems that the feature of individually password protecting files in the earlier OSX system do not open, nor give the option to even give the password. In the get info window there is no option to change or type in the password. The password is not related to the administrator password and it seems that it was a feature that did not follow through to the later OSX version. The only alternative I can think of is to install OSX 2 on an external and hope it gives me the option.
Does anyone know how to deal with this type of individually protected file in OSX 4.6? I have tried the vault, and the get info, but nothing seems to work to even give me the option to enter a password for an individual file. They are jpeg, and QuickTime, and Photoshop .psd files.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Then it's probably not 100%-compatible with the PDF security standard. You
should post this question on an iText forum.

  • Can't open password protected PDF files.

As per the thread title, I can't seem to open password protected PDF files via the Mail app.
I've read that you can open them if they're synced and opened via iBook, however, this is not an option for me.
I get sent several password protected PDF for work per week and would like to be able to read them directly from the Mail app just like a regular PDF file.
Does Apple know of this issue and will they implement a fix in the near future?

Before I buy "numbers" can anyuser advise me from their experiences if I'll be able to open password protected excel files in iphone 4S?

I haven't tried opening any password-protected Office files in Numbers or Pages on my iOS device, but I doubt that it can be done. Neither Numbers or Pages for the Mac can open them so it is extremely unlikely.

I've just started using Numbers a few days ago. I want to open password-protected xlsx-files. Numbers refuses opening it.

This is true. However as a workaround I found out the Quick View function allows you to type in the password and then at least get a preview of its contents. Note that this was not the case earlier on Snow Leopard (I recently upgraded to Mountain Lion).

  • Will the new iPad open password protected PDF files?

I attend college online, and have always had a problem viewing password protected PDF files on my iPad. Will the new iPad allow opening these files?
    Thank you!

You can install the same iOS version running the new iPad onto your iPad.
Download the free Adobe Reader app from the App Store. It opens password protected PDFs just like thee desktop version.
