Openning a form in a new tab, rather than a new window

I have a BSP application that generates a smartform as a PDF, then renders the binary data to a new window using CL_HTTPSERVER=>SERVER_CACHE_UPLOAD. This is working fine for creating a new window. But, i want to create the smartform output in a new browser tab, rather than a new browser window.
Can this be done?

Disregard... I guess it is opening a separate tab after all in FF.

  • How do I get safari to open pop-ups in new tabs rather than in new windows?

Just recently I took my 13" MacBook Pro (Late 2010 Model) to my local Apple Store. When I brought it there they fixed my problem, but in the mean time they had to completely delete and uninstall Safari and Google Chrome off of my laptop. Before the apple store, my Safari would always open pop-ups and links in a new tab, now they open up in a new window. Does anyone know how to change it so they open in new tabs? The reason I need this changed is I might have unecessary websites open, and they would just be taking up space.
    Thanks for your help,
    –Dan

  • When i open a new tab, rather than the curser flashing in the url space it opens a new search page. how do i get the new tab to open at the url?

when i open a new tab, rather than the curser flashing in the url window it opens a new search page. a new tab used to open at the url - how do i get it to do so again?

A new tab opens by default as a blank tab (about:blank).
If that isn't the case then an extension has changed that behavior.

  • The tabs I have open show as new tabs rather than the websites I had opened.

I have a large number of tabs open in a window, and when I hit "restore previous session" to open them, they are shown as "new tab" rather than the websites I had opened. Prior to the previous two updates, I had no problem with this, but now it's a recurring issue on Firefox.

Make sure that the history and possibly the disk cache are working.
Do you see the history in the History Manager (Library; Show All History)?
To see all History and Cookie settings, choose:
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
*Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files in the Firefox profile folder that store session data.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost and you will have to recreate them (make a note or bookmark them if possible).

  • How can i have bookmarks automatically in a new tab rather than the tab i am in when i select a bookmark?

How can I get book marks to automatically open in a new tab rather than the tab I am in when I select the bookmark?

It would be good if this was made a user-defined Option (Tools -> Options -> Tabs) in the next update of Firefox rather than having to install an add-on. I currently keep Firefox open to view my Accuweather.com add-on running or because I know that I will be returning to Firefox in short order. (I do close Firefox if I have visited a sensitive or secure site to ensure better security.) Every time I want to go to a bookmark, I must open a new "(Untitled)" tab before selecting my bookmark using the keyboard (I'm a dedicated keystroker; it's much faster for me). This way, when I close the website, I have an "(Untitled)" tab displaying so that Firefox doesn't close. Why can't I set an Option parameter that will result in me not having to go through this? Alternatively, allow users to set an option to keep Firefox loaded and open in the event only one tab is open and maybe if only one Firefox application window is running (I avoid having more than one Firefox window open as much as possible). I've addressed this last issue in the past but have seen no change when one closes the last tab in a Firefox window. As general practice, I would think that Firefox would run better if options, like I have described above, were part of the Firefox application code and not given to needing an add-on which may cause instability in Firefox as they have in the past, even with author verification and certification.

  • Search results load in the current tab rather than the new tab where the search was started from.

    Steps to reproduce:
    Open a new tab
Using the search bar (for Google) within the page on the new tab, enter a search query and press enter
Quickly switch to a different tab
The search results will load on the different tab rather than the tab where the search was started from

hello, can you try to replicate this behaviour when you launch firefox in safe mode once? if not, maybe an addon is interfering here...

  • I want new pages to open in an existing tab rather than a new tab

We are setting up a public computer in our local tourism visitor center for people to check information on area lodging. We have created icons on the desktop for each establishment's web page, so when someone dbl clicks the icon, the web page comes up in the browser. When a second person comes, a new tab gets opened up, and so on until the browser is full of tabs. We can't get each person to close the browser or to close the tab he or she used, so we would like an option when someone clicks an icon for a web page, that the web page gets opened in the currently existing and displayed tab (replacing the contents of that tab).

As of five minutes ago, ''every single'' link I click opens in a new tab. This includes clicking the refresh button.

  • Open links in new tab rather than new window

IS there a way to force Safari to open all links that would normally open in a new window open in a new tab instead? I know I can hold the apple key and click the link to have it go to a new tab but I was just wondering if there was a way to make it do that all the time without holding that key?

You're welcome. Glad I could help.
Thanks for the and Aloha from Big Island.

Hello leelassow, '''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.

''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''

'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''

  • When clicking on a link, it opens a new tab rather than just opening in the existing tab. How do I stop that?

For example, when I'm in Flickr and I'm looking at an album, I click on a picture and it opens a new tab for that picture. When I click on the arrow to see the next picture in the series, it proceeds to open yet another tab, and so on. It's not difficult to have tabs that span the width of my screen in no time at all.

    This should help:
    1. Go to: Tools > Options > Tabs
    2. There is a section at the top that says 'Open links that open in a new window in:' and then a drop-down menu
    3. In the drop-down menu, select the 'Current Tab' Option
    4. Click 'OK'
'''If this was the answer you were looking for, please click 'Solved' -- Thanks.'''

  • How do I get rid of the "Ask a question" which now opens on every new tab rather than the previous mozilla history blocks?

  • When using Yahoo search the link opens a new tab rather than remaining in the current tab. This has never occurred before upgrading to FF 10.0.2. Played with tab setting in options window with no luck. Please help - very annoying.

Windows Vista. FF 10.0.2 (2 days ago).

Many of your points are totally legitimate.
    This one, however, is not:
…To put it another way, the design of the site seems to be geared much more towards its regular users than those the site is supposedly trying to "help"…
The design and management of the forums for more than five years have driven literally dozens of the most valuable contributors and "regulars" away from the forums—permanently.
The only conclusion a prudent, reasonable person can draw from this state of affairs is that Adobe consciously and deliberately want to kill these forums by attrition—without a the PR hit they would otherwise take if they suddenly just shut them down.

  • How can I get new tabs to automatically open when I click on a new site (rather than replace the existing page I am using)?

For some reason when i click on to a new site or link, tabs no longer automatically open so if i forget to manually click on the little plus sign at the end of the tab strip, my new destination replaces where i currently was. This was not the case in the past and I cannot find where to reset this so that a new tab will once again auto create. !
I tried options/tabs: open new windows in a new tab instead, but this did not fix the issue. Can anyone tell me what i need to do get firefox to create auto creat a new tab when i move to a new link rather than replace the one currently in use? Thank you!

You can middle click a link to open that link in a new tab.

  • Why my Firefox v6.02 browser always open *.csv (comma delimited) file in another tab rather than downloading a file? I do not have right click option to save this file.

My Firefox v6.02 browser always open *.csv (comma delimited) file in another tab rather than downloading a file? I do not have right click option to save this file. My OP is windows XP sp2.

    Hi mha007,
    Go to this site "http://www.nseindia.com/content/indices/ind_histvalues.htm"
Select any Index type and from dates select just one day or any number of days. Click "Get Details" button. This will open tabular data on loaded page (with link CSV file link at bottom).
When I click this link, it opens CSV file in new tab (in Firefox browser) and does not open download window (just as in case of other file formats like *.zip, *.rar or *.xls).
Right-click of link does not give "save as" or "save file" option.
Firefox is my preferred and default browser.
    ========
surprisingly, When I do same thing in IE6 browser, data-table page shows 2 options below table, i.e. (1) download file (2) open file.
