Openoffice won't recognize keyboard

Greetings.
I've downloaded the drivers for my MS ergonomic keyboard. It seems to work in everything but in openoffice.
Any ideas? Thanks.

Get a keyboard that's totally Mac compatible. This one's only $50 USD: http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB110LL/A?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY It's the only one operating on my Macs.

Any clues on why Word 2008 won't recognize my keyboard? I'd update the program, but can't find one. Help!

Ask on the Microsoft Mac forums, as it's their software you're having issues with.  These forums are for troubleshooting Apple products:

  • Stuck at login screen after Yosemite Upgrade - 2013 27" imac won't recognize keyboard or mouse

I installed yosemite without issues on my 2013 macbook pro retina so decided to try it on my 2013 27" imac. Install went fine until I get to login screen. Wireless keyboard and mouse won't pair so I can't type in password. Connected generic wired keyboard and mouse and still won't recognize it.
However, when I restart it I can hold down option on keyboard and it will bring up list of hard drives to boot from (I also have windows installed with bootcamp) so I know imac pairs the key

So the iMac was purchased by my father in 2011 shortly before he died.  I thought, why not check if he also purchased Applecare at the same time? Turns out he did! So after calling and trying to reset the SMC, etc. with it not working the Apple tech told me to turn it over to an authorized repair shop here in Louisiana.  Hopefully they can fix it.

  • Computer won't recognize keyboard

Restarted my computer (iMac 2009) this morning, Lion OS, and at the log in screen the computer does not recognize the keyboard so I cannot log into my machine. Have tried restarting.  Have tried changing the plug-in in the back of the machine.  No response.

+2. Both my old and new keyboards are US-made Apple Keyboards.+
You seem to be saying that you have two US keyboards but the rightmost key on the bottom row has different things printed on them, namely / and _ on one and / and ? on the other. Is that really the case?
-- Yes; but don't forget, one is an old, wide (with number pad) Apple keyboard, made in about 2002. The other is a new Apple compact wired keyboard (79 key), made probably in 2009. And when I said US-made, I really meant US standard keyboards, sold in the USA. They probably weren't made here - nothing is anymore. I'm told this is the standard keyboard which comes with the iMac, or at least did until recently.
+3. All the settings for Language & Text are as they should be.+
As far as I know, the only way you could be having _ appear when you try to type ? is if something is set wrong in Input Sources or perhaps the machine thinks you have a Japanese keyboard. What happens when you type Shift + 8? If it comes up ( instead of *, then it looks like the Japanese case.
-- No, it comes up * but it's supposed to be ( according to what's printed on the key. It comes up with an asterisk because that's what the old keyboard had on that key. That's my problem - the computer thinks I still have the old keyboard.
The article you linked to has another link in it about keyboard layouts; I'm going to look at it now.

  • Windows 7 Pro will not boot up in Bootcamp and won't recognize keyboard or mouse in Safe Mode

Windows 7 usually crashes after about 30-60 minutes of use and now I can't get it to even boot after doing a Windows Update. I tried to boot into Safe Mode with Networking but I can't login to Windows because they mouse and keyboard don't seem to be recognized?

Start over by using Boot Camp Assistant to remove the Boot Camp partition. Then start the Boot Camp process again using Boot Camp Assistant and following the Boot Camp guide.

  • MacPro (mid 2012) won't recognize keyboard/mouse on startup

For the past month my magic mouse has repeatedly quit working. Fussing will get it back up and running, sometimes by shutting down. Today when booting up, I get the splash screen but neither magic mouse or bluetooth Logitech keyboard are recognized so I can't log-on.  Have tried both on my laptop and they are both seen and work fine. I need help. Thanks.

    You are most welcome

  • New iMac keyboard won't recognize devices

My new iMac won't recognize my iPod when I plug it into the keyboard. I have to plug it into the display . This is tough because of it's location. Anyway to make the keyboard recognize?
Also, neither keyboard nor display will recognize my JVC camcorder of about 1 year old.
Thanks. Customer Service allows me to book a call back for today but they call back to say they are closed.....

    HI,
Go here for a list of compatible camcorders.

Always connect the iPod to the USB port on the back of the iMac, not the keyboard.
Why is it difficult to connect to the display?

  • I changed the drive letter on my iPod and now iTunes won't recognize it!

Help please! I contacted an Apple associate and they told me to change the drive letter of my iPod in My Computer. I did that and now iTunes won't recognize my iPod at all and I can't change the drive letter back to the original one. What do I do?

Try Resetting Your iPod while it's connected to the computer.
Hold down the Menu and Select buttons until you see the Apple logo (or Menu & Play/Pause in older models).
This will often get it recognized. It may take several attempts.
Try closing and re-starting iTunes. There have been cases where iTunes refuses to see an iPod, but after re-starting, it works again.
Also try re-booting the entire computer. Especially if the PC has been operating for a long time &/or many programs have been opened and closed, repeatedly.
Other USB connected peripherals may be the cause as well. Try removing all connected USB items and attaching the iPod. If you have a USB keyboard, it may be worth a try using the adapter to convert it to non-USB. If the iPod connects, continue plugging things back in until you have the problem return. You may have then isolated the issue. Sometimes it could be a printer, camera, Flash Card reader, or other attached device causing a conflict.

  • Storage space full of "other", computer won't recognize iPod is plugged in

I just downloaded about 100 songs onto my 160 gigabyte iPod Video Classic, making my number of songs only about 1,300. My iPod says its storage now only has 1.9 mb left. I only have about 10 videos and no photos, but the "other" section of the storage content bar takes up a ton of space. It had none before. How do I remove the "other" from my iPod? Now my computer won't recognize any iPod when I plug it in, and I've tried multiple plugs.

Connect the iPod to a USB2.0  port, on the Computer itself and not a USB hub or those found on the Apple keyboard.
If iTunes launch, close it back.
If your iPod is found on your Desktop, then run DiskUtility, (if not then Reset the iPod while connected to the Mac)
    Select you iPod
Click FirstAid Tab on the right window.
    Press the Repair button.
After Repair finish, iTunes may launch and ask to Restore, this will delete all the data in your iPod.
if iTunes did not launch, just Reset iPod again while connected to your Mac.
Always don't use USB hub or the Keyboard USB port or else your problem will come back, as the power is insufficient from these shared ports for iPod harddisk write process.
    Good Luck!

  • IDVD won't recognize itunes

After the latest update, my iDVD will not recognize itunes and let me add my music. It says to open itunes 6 or later, and it is open, but won't recognize it.

    Hello Karen,
    Do other programs recognize iTunes?
Try checking in iPhoto, iMovie, or iWeb.
    Try this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2875
If none of the programs can see your iTunes you may have a an issue with your iTunes Library itself.
    Do a test:
1.) Drag a song out of iTunes to the desktop
2.) Quit iTunes by going to iTunes > Quit iTunes
3.) Hold down the option key on your keyboard and launch iTunes
4.) When prompted click on "Create Library" and save
-- This creates a new blank library
5.) Drag the song you took out in step 1 back to iTunes to add it
6.) Launch iDVD and see if it shows up
-- If the song shows up you have a damaged iTunes library. Use the option key to switch back to your original iTunes library and then follow http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1451 to rebuild your iTunes Library database.
    Hope that helps

  • WoW won't recognize keys after update

I just installed 10.5.6, and now WoW won't recognize ' as a usable key in the game. So if I want to use it to make the character auto-run, it won't do anything. I can still assign the key to something, but the game itself won't register its use. Works on my MacBook which I haven't upgraded yet, doesn't on my iMac.
Anything which might screw with this in the update?

Hi, I have a similar, though not exactly the same issue, I'm using the DVORAK keyboard layout.
I had my "wasd" keys mapped to their DVORAK alternatives ",aoe" respectively. They no longer work and if I try and remap them in the "Key Bindings" interface, they strangely come out as "wasd".
Also if I want to open chat in game, I have to type the '/' key, which is under normal circumstances my 'z' key. Once in-chat it's fine and I can type using DVORAK again.
This is ever since the upgrade to 10.5.6. It might as well be a WoW issue, not a OSX issue.
I'm not the only one with this problem - see my post on the WoW-forums:

  • Computer harddrive crashed, now restored, won't recognize iPod Shuffle

    Hello,
My hardrive crashed and after the restore, I've lost all my playlists. I reinstalled iTunes, then connected the Shuffle, but iTunes won't recognize the Shuffle. I guess it would normally appear under "Store" on the left side of the iTunes page.
    Please advise.

When I connect it to a powered port on the right side of eMac, I get no recognition from iTunes (or desktop).
Other USB devices used are keyboard and printer. (Soundsticks II in audio hole - unrelated I figure.)
iPod flashes green once, orange and green once, and then to orange flashing.
When installed both iTunes 5 and 5.0.1, computer wouldn't shutdown properly initially. I had to unplug powercord. And initial update of 5.0.1 bogged down and I had to force quit and try again.
