Openreach bad workmanship on install can't get the...

Please can someone help or offer me advice on what to do next. On the 6th November I had an engineer’s appointment to install my infinity 2 service. The engineer arrived and I showed him both of my telephone sockets and he asked where I wanted the socket for the hub so I pointed to one of the two sockets which are in the same room and the only sockets in the house.
He proceeded to take my old socket apart so I left him to it. After 10 minutes he asked me to test the service and I did a speed test and was getting 76 meg down and 16 meg up. He said that was him done and left my house.
When I got back to my pc I moved the hub to the other end of the shelf and my broadband disconnected. I subsequently found whenever I moved the cable to the hub it disconnected. Worse still I found, that on close inspection, the engineer has used a second hand face plate which looks like has been in the back of his van for the past year. It is covered in tiny scratches and scuffs. (see photo) It seems that the disconnection problem comes from this socket because if you wiggle the hubs plug at the socket it disconnects. I also found that he had left my telephone unplugged so I plugged it in and I lost sync again. If I plug the phone into the other socket in the room it disconnected as well.
I got on the phone and raised a complaint but I was told that because the order was still showing as in progress I would have to phone again the following day before they could get an engineer back. I phoned BT early the next day and explained what had happened and when we went through some checks and it would appear that none of the sockets are wired up as a master socket. They logged it as bad workmanship and said Openreach would be in contact within 10 days to make an appointment to fix the problem and re-wire a master socket. 7 days passed and I heard nothing so I spoke to BT only to be told that the fault had been closed. They couldn’t give me a reason why it had been closed so I asked for the fault to be logged again and I took a note of the reference number this time.
Now it is 10 days since I reported the problem for a second time and I haven’t heard a thing from BT or Openreach. I phoned BT 3 days ago and was told that Openreach should be in touch with me soon and the lady who I reported the fault with would be in contact but neither have contacted me. So what can I do? I can’t connect my landline phone because it disconnects what little internet I have, my speed is dropping each day because of the frequent disconnections if I so much as plug the phone in or move the Hub lead.

STEP 1: Open iTunes
STEP 2: Navigate to the "iTunes Store". It can be found under the "STORE" tab.
STEP 3: On the right side of the store there should be a "Quick Links" Section. Click on the "Purchased" link.
STEP 4: Navigate to the "Music" tab and click on "All Songs". Then at the bottom of the screen there will be a button that says "Download All". Click the button and your songs will be begin downloading!
NOTE: This will only work with songs that you bought from the iTunes store, if you imported them from a CD, you will have to do it again.
NOTE: You can also do this with Apps, Movies, TV Shows, and Books.
NOTE: You may have to sign in with your Apple ID to verify the download.

Mac Book Pro, Bad disk but I can't get the install DVD to work

I have a 13" macbook pro that started to have problems with different apps. They would crash immediately when you clicked on them. I ran disk utility repair permissions and everything was ok but when I went to verify the disk it reported that the drive was corrupt. I bought a new drive, installed the drive and inserted the Install DVD that came with the machine. After a few minutes I get a message "You need to restart your computer. Hold down the power button...." I tried using a Leopard install DVD and same problem. Originaly this machine came with SL but I figured since I am using a new disk (unformated I assume) that any OS install DVD would get me formatted and back to a point where I could connect with Time Machine and restore. I swapped out the RAM, HDD cable and DVD drive with another MPP with the same results. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I have several MPP's. The one that is failing originaly came with SL. I don't have an SL disk so I attempted to use a Leopard to install a brand new disk drive. I would have thought that it didn't matter if it was SL or Leopard since it was a new disk (no reference of what was on it before). I could see an issue with compatability between a Intel OS on a G5 but SL vs Leopard on an Intel MPP should be OK. Thoughts?
The install DVD I am using "should" be the correct disk. I understand the sensitivity of using the disk that came with the machine. The reason I think this it is the ocrrect disk is it says 13" MPP and 10.6 for the OS which fits the description of what this machine had on it when it was purchased. I don't believe I have any other 13" machines with SL.
I also ran the diagnostics last eve. All passed.
I'm thinking of putting a working 10.5 disk from another machine into the failing machine and running Verify from the disk utility to see if I get the same error. If so, I would assume my disk controller is bad and need a new motherboard.

Apple only supports Windows on certain hardware.

Apple provides their framework for Windows to run on a Mac, a piece of software called a Hybrid MBR that bridges the gap between how Windows reads the drive partition table (MBR) and EFI/GUID partition table that Mac's use.
It doesn't mean Windows can't run on your Mac, a third party solution called rEFIt will also bridge the gap and allow booting of more that just Windows, Linux as well for a triple booting computer.
Your hardware has to meet the other requirements the second and third operating system needs as as being able to install drivers that will work for your hardware, especially the fans or they will run loud and fast by default.

This above is a advanced procedure which requires knowledge how computers and various operating systems, drive formats and so forth work.
I even admit I don't know everything myself, but I experiment on a separate piece of Mac hardware (out of warranty/AppleCare) designed for this purpose so in case something screws up I'm not taking down my only machine and can use the other to get online and find solutions.
There is a very high potential for losing your data if your using advanced/non-Apple methods to install Windows on your only Mac where Apple doesn't support it. Also one shouldn't be doing this on Mac hardware that is under AppleCare or warranty as it might be voided. Proceed at your own risk and education.

Hi, I want to do a clean re-installation of my end 2011 Macbook Pro which comes with pre-installed Lion OS. I go through the installation steps and after App Store verified my Apple ID, it prompted me that I did not purchase the Lion OS. I am very surprise to see this message which my pre-installed Lion Macbook Pro should have it. Please help and advise how can I get the OS? All other bundle softwares were in the purchase record except the Lion OS.

That was my mistake - sorry - it IS Command-R to boot to the Recovery disk, not Command-D: I either just hit the wrong key or am just now coming awake from my nap.
Let me see if I can just explain it in a few steps - I don't know of any link (but it would make a good User Tip):
Create an up-to-the minute back-up of your internal hard drive using an external hard drive and Time Machine.
Boot to your recovery partion - holding down Command-R on boot.
Use Disk Utility to erase Macintosh HD - use one GUID partition and format as "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)". Unless you're selling the machine, there's no need to do a secure erase (which can take hours).
After you erase the disk, re-install Lion from the same Recovery partition.
After installation is complete, reboot, again holding down the Command-R keys to boot into the Recovery Partition.
Restore your Time Machine back-up. This could take several hours.
Reboot after restore and you're back in business.
That should take care of everything - all you need is an Internet connection.
Call back if I didn't explain things too well - at least I got the Command-R right this time!

I have eactly the same problem - it seems that the downloaded version on MBA is version 6.0 and on iPad is is version 2.0 -
Issue is when i tried to save the presentation on MBA Keynote 09 - Keynote crashed.

It's good to read Antoniad's post. It reassures me that I can use my new iPad as an international communication device which is the reason I purchased the thing. However, I called Verizon today (my provider of cellular data) who told me that I can't just pop in a SIM card as you suggested. He also said that he was from the "Pre-Pay" division of Verizon and he was certain that I couldn't do what I planned to do. I was extremely disappointed as I had called Apple prior to buying the iPad and I read the algorhythm on the website for choosing an iPad before purchasing. Those sources were quite specific and the information seemed clear. I would be able to use my iPad to communicate through cellular connections while traveling on the road, literally, abroad. I was told that I could pop in a data card wherever I was, just as you indicated in your message above, and voila I was good to go. The Verizon rep definitively rained on that parade, but said that I might be able to do this if I have a "Post-Pay" account, a different area of Verizon. I haven't had the chance to talk to this division yet, so I looked to Apple's Support for answers. Maybe I will find out that I can use my iPad as an international communication device while traveling on the road afterall, however, it appears I may need a different type of account (Post-Pay), something I was never warned about. Can I switch to this kind of account? I don't know. I have to find out. If you have any information about this issue, it would be good to share since I strongly suspect there are others who bought the iPad for the same purpose that I have.

I installed Firefox 4 beta when it was available as a tester before Firefox 4 was released, so I had two versions of Firefox on my computer. When Firefox 4 was released this week, I installed it and it replaced Firefox 3.6.15. For some reason it seems it didn't install the full version of Firefox 4, instead it's a similar version to the Beta version. For example, the drop down on Google search doesn't work when you click on an item in the drop down. Also the orange button that is supposed to replace the buttons on the top left of the browser is not there. It still has the 8 buttons, ie File, Edit, etc. How can I get the full version to install on my computer? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it and I get the same result. My modem is down and can I get the jump-drive to install OS X Lion?

I was informed by my ISP (Hughes.net) that my modem is not functioning to download large files. They are sending a new modem; in the meantime I paid for the Lion upgrade and cannot install it. Can I get the jump-drive sent to me?

The flash drive version would be a new purchase ($69).

Once I click warp text, the little window does not pop up, and if I try to do anything else after I click warp text, it wont let me. Just sounds the ding, alert, can still slightly navigate the program but can not use any other tools after clicking warp text. I just have to open task manager and close the program. not sure if I'm doing something wrong or maybe I just need to uninstall and re install. Having trouble finding out how to uninstall and reinstall because the program came pre installed on my desktop.

It actually sounds like the warp text window is opening off screen.
Resetting the photoshop elements 10 preferences should fix it.
*Press and hold the Shift+Ctrl+Alt keys just after you start the launch of the photoshop elements 10 editor
*Keep holding the keys down until you get a dialog asking if you want to delete the adobe photoshop elements setting file
*Press Yes
