OpenSSO 8.0 - Windows Server 2003 User Store

The following is taken from the installation guide - does this mean that Windows Server 2003 Forest Functional Level must be at 2003. If not, what does it mean?
Requirements For ActiveDirectory as theUser Data Store
To configure and use Active Directory as the user data store, your deployment must meet these requirements:
■ OpenSSO Enterprise 8.0 is installed on a supported web container.
■ Active Directory 2003 is installed on Windows Server 2003 R2 with “Windows Server forest
functional level” enabled. For more information, see:
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=322692#4
■ You have not made any changes to the OpenSSO Enterprise schema, attributes, or XML
files.

I have installed 9i successfully on machines with AMD64 cpus and 64bit Xeons without any problems.

  • Access windows server 2003 from a local user machine (windows 7 pro)?

Is there a way to look up user accounts from a local machine running windows 7 pro without having to always go to the physical server itself?
The reason is the location of the server, a bit of an inconvenience.
    It's a windows server 2003 btw.

  • Integration - Windows Server 2003/2008R2: Creating a login script that attaches programs to a certain user group. Upgrading to Windows 7/8

We are currently running a windows server 2003 environment with a 2003 server being the DC. We have a couple of 2008 r2 servers that are member servers.
    OK...
Our users are primarily operating off of windows xp clients/workstations in which they use RDP to connect to the newer member servers that are windows 2008. With their base profile in xp I am using roaming profiles via server 2003. I am looking to begin
upgrading all of the workstations to all-in-one windows7/8 boxes partially because of cosmetic reasons(#weird) and partially because we will eventually begin using the camera options that are in the all-in-one's.
Also..I must do this one at a time as we don't have the money to do a complete overhaul of all client workstations..If that was the case, I could just redo the network and make those members servers the DC and backup DC as well as add a virtual server
in which everyone can access those legacy programs that are still needed...
As you guys know windows 7/8 boxes will not work with server 2003 and roaming profiles. The reason we don't completely upgrade to 2008 r2 environment is because we are still holding on to a legacy program that requires server 2003 and these programs are
    vital to our operation.
    So..broken down even further...
A: User is part of a 'LocalAdmins' group that makes them automatically a local admin upon any system within our domain.
B: User  logs in to windows xp with credentials in which a tailored made per user roaming profile comes up from server 2003
C: User then logs into one of the two terminal servers via RDP with same credentials and accesses new primary application. To access the legacy applications, they merely minimize their RDP session to get back to the windows xp session.
    Ultimately..
    1. I'd like to begin replacing option B: with windows 7/8 all-in-ones and and have the RDP saved sessions, that talk to the 2008 member servers, as well as, a few vital ie shortcuts automatically come to all users that are apart of that "LocalAdmins
    group period.
    2. Setup 1 server 2003 box that runs that legacy program and allow everyone access via a Virtual Environment..
    3. If they log into a windows xp box, or a windows 7/8 box, I want them to have access to the same icons.
I guess this is a lot to digest, but my question is, what script could I make that would essentially allow uniformity for both my xp workstations and newly added windows 7/8 boxes? What script could I create that would,I guess reside on server 2003, that
brings all the neccessary icons to the users that are apart of that "LocalAdmins" group despite having a windows xp, 7, or 8 workstation?

" I don't see what the issue is because a logon script will still be managed by Group Policy and will have to be applied using GP rules.  In the end you still have to write the script."
You basically contradicted the smug part of your rant and multiple answers with this statement!!! You just recognized that some sort of script would be necessary if I chose to use it via group policy.
    But according to you..
"It is not and has never been done via a script."
Clearly it has a section per user for a "profile path" and a "logon SCRIPT". Which warrants my creation of this post since I have currentely implemented
roaming profiles. That is how I am manipulating what users can have on their desktop because of course, we have different users that have different needs. But out of all the users, there are programs that need to be laced and seen upon immediate login.I
will consult other people as this is only preliminary planning but about half of your statements are completely unwarranted and UNNECESSARY!
This statement also proves your additional inaccuracies...
"All of the profile things are handled by Windows and have nothing to do with scripts.  You define all of that in Group Policy."
That's just silly talk. I told you in my initial break down of my scenario in an entirety that I am using "tailored made per user roaming profiles" to control desktop environments not group policies in this case. But you just made an absolute statement in
saying "You define all of that in Group policy" which is completely wrong...
Do me a favor, please don't respond to this post anymore. I'd love to see if any other partner, staff or whatever mind responding. Thank you for your help anyway. I will use what is useful in your post and discard the rest.
    Thanks

  • User-changeable Passwords issue f/ ACS 4.0 on Windows Server 2003

I am having an issue with the UCP website not functioning correctly. I have installed it from the ACS 4.0 CD, following the instructions from the Cisco.com website, but cannot get past the Login page. Users can get to the Login page, but after they enter their information (username / password) and click Login, the server returns the following error page: "CGI Error. The apecified CGI application misbehaved by not returning a complete set of HTTP headers."
I cannot get past this page. I have verified that the website is installed as outlined in the Cisco procedure, and have re-installed twice to verify. I have granted Everyone Write and Execute permissions to the site directories, and granted the Virtual Directories Script and Executable access.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. I am evaluating ACS 4.0 for deployment in our company, and UCP not working is a major stumbling block.
    Additional configuration information:
Windows Server 2003 SP1, patched current to 8/29/06
The ACS server is also running on this server; it was installed and tested first, before installing UCP.
    Thanks,
    John

Change the user that runs CSusercgi.exe to Administrator.Refer the following steps Install UCP 4 on a machine that runs IIS server,Open IIS manager,Locate Default Web Site, Double click on the virtual name 'securecgi-bin',Right click on CSusercgi.exe and choose Properties,Choose 'File Security' tab,Choose 'Edit' in 'Authentication and access control' area,Change username from IUSR_ to 'Administrator' and enter his password.

  • How to unlock user account in Windows Server 2003

    Hi,
I want to unlock a user account in Windows Server 2003.
I have read a great post at http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=716240&start=0&tstart=0
But I can not get it to work. According to the post the only thing you need to do is:
"+to unlock an account, just set the value of the attribute lockoutTime to zero+".
When I set lockoutTime to zero nothing happens. The user can still not logon.
When I read the lockoutTime attribute for an account that is locked it is empty or zero if I have tried to unlock it earlier.
So it doesn´t seem to change when the account is locked.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Windows Server 2012 has come with the concept of Group Managed Service Account (gMSA).
Following are the benefits of gMSA,
    - A single gMSA can be used on multiple hosts.
    - A gMSA can be used for scheduled tasks.
    - A gMSA can be used for IIS Application Pools, SQL 2012 etc.
Checkout the below link regarding complete information on gMSA (creation and usage),

  • Transferring network user files from Windows Server 2003 to Mac OSX 10.5.8

I'm wondering if any network admins out there have a suggested method of transferring network user files from a Windows Server 2003 to an XServe running 10.5.8?
When we did the file transfer, clicking and dragging, there were a myriad permissions issues that subsequently arose. Surely there is a way to strip permissions off files PRIOR to the transfer?? Maybe not, but I'm wondering how you folks have done it.
We have had nothing but persistent permissions issues since the transfer (i.e. folks who should have access to files, being denied access, including the local server admin!!). This also translates to synch errors for network mobile accounts.

  • HP Cloud Print Driver for Windows Server 2003?

    Hello,
I have a unique (complicated) situation that I am trying to find a solution for.
    Here is the deal,
My company is trying to set up a temporary remote branch location inside a building where we are unable to wire a network. Our solution is to use a wireless hotspot. Connected to this hotspot, we will have an iPad and an HP Laserjet M525.
The iPad will be connecting to our Citrix environment over VPN through Citrix Receiver to deliver a desktop interface to the iPad. This is needed to access a few applications that are used at the branch.
The problem now is printing, AirPrint wont work because the iPad is on VPN (and its at a windows interface, not the iPad's).
I had the idea of using the HP printers built in ePrint function to print, so I set that up. So now sending at email to [email protected] prints to the HP printer attached to the wireless hotspot.
Emaling to print works, but ideally, I would like this printer to show up in the Windows Devices and Printers, so that the user can just click print, choose the HP printer, and it will print, (with a delay obviously as its sending an email).
So I downloaded the HP ePrint Windows Driver, which has to be installed on the main Citrix servers so that the users session can grab the printer and use it, turns out the driver doesnt work on Windows Server 2003.
My first attempt at a workaround was Google Cloud Print, which was fairly simple to connect to HP ePrint, but apparently the Google Cloud Print Driver doesnt work on Windows Server 2003 either.
Is there a version of the HP ePrint Driver out there that works on Windows Server 2003?
    tldr:
I would like to print to a remote HP printer that is connected to a wifi hotspot from our internal network. I need whatever software I download to be compatible with Server 2003.
I understand this is over complicated but thanks for any input.

I believe I understand your issue.  You would like to use a print driver to print to your HP ePrint enabled printer from your apps that are hosted by Citrix server.  While I believe this makes perfect sense, HP does not have a print driver that officially supports MS TS or Citrix that also supports the ePrint Cloud path.  The reason for this is the ePrint windows driver is a "dynamic" print driver (similar to HP UPD dynamic mode) that handles multiple print paths (tcp/ip, wireless direct, cloud, etc) in a single driver instance by dynamically changing the port the print queue is bound to so the port is specific to the delivery path.  For example, if printing to a network printer it will use a MS Standard tcp/ip port.  If printing to the ePrint cloud a custom port is used, etc.  Well, if you have lots of Citrix users trying to print to a single print queue, but to different destinations, the users would be colliding with each other when they print by having the driver trying to change the print queue to different print ports at the same time.
What you could do is install an ePrint print queue on the citrix server if you can control the access to that queue to just your local branch users.  Also, if you only have on ePrint enabled printer the situation is even better as only one port will be needed by that queue.  You can find the ePrint software at www.hp.com/go/eprintsoftware   You might want to download the version of the driver that supports XP as Windows 2003 is very similar print system.
NOTE:  this is not a supported environment for this driver.  You would be using it without warrenty or support and no promises are being made here.
Good luck if you choose this path and please post back the results.  Thanks!

  • Unable to bind MacBook Pro (running 10.6 - Snow Leopard ) to Windows Server 2003 domain

Hi there, I've been working on this problem for a few hours now (and a few hours last Thursday) and don't feel I'm getting anywhere, so I'm reaching out for help....
My organisation has just purchased a new MacBook Pro, running Snow Leopard (OSX 10.6) and as a Technical Support Engineer I have been asked to configure it for an end user.
I am currently trying to join it to our corporate domain, which is a Windows Server 2003 domain operating at the Windows Server 2003 Native domain functional level.
The MacBook is configured to use DHCP, and has been assigned valid IP address, DNS servers etc by the DHCP server. It can resolve all names on our network, including the names of our domain controllers. When I use nslookup to resolve the name of the domain "my_domain.local" it returns a list of DC's on the domain, which would indicate to me that name resolution is working perfectly. It is using our primary DNS server, 'Ponus' to resolve these names - Ponus is also the Domain Controller in this site.
To attempt to join the MacBook to the domain I have created a computer account for it on the domain, in the Computers container. I have gone into System/Library/Core Services and run the Directory Utility.
In the directory Utility I have ticked Active Directory and clicked on it to edit. The 'Forest' field is greyed out and set to 'Automatic', in the 'Domain' field I have entered my_domain.local, which is the FQDN of my domain. I click Bind and when prompted enter my Domain Admin username and password (in the 'Create Computer Account in:' field it displays correctly as CN=Computers,DC=my_domain,DC=local.)
When I click OK I get the message: Invalid domain. An invalid Domain and Forest combination was specified. You should enter a fully qualified DNS name for the domain and forest (e.g., ads.company.com).
I have attempted writing the domain as my_domain.local, my_domain.local., MY_DOMAIN.LOCAL and MY_DOMAIN.LOCAL. but I get the same error each time. I have checked and rechecked DNS is resolving OK, and cannot see why it cannot find the Domain and Forest from the FQDN that I am entering. Even so I tried creating records in the hosts file on the MacBook to point to the main Domain Controller at this site (Ponus) but this didn't change anything.
I have seen a few people report the same issue online but the responses tend to fizzle out before anyone gets to the bottom of it. I have seen some indication that people with an understore (_) in their domain name, or with a .local domain name may experience issues with joining Mac hosts, however these details are very vague and if true there must be a workaround.
If anyone could help me with this I would greatly appreciate it, I'm running out of time to complete this work and have run out of things to try.
I have an inkling that this is due to the Mac for some reason not reading the SRV records for the DCs and LDAP in DNS, or to do with the Mac looking only at one SRV record (ie. there is one for a new DC that we haven't deployed yet), not being able to reach this and giving up, but I'm clutching at straws really with my limited knowledge of the Macs process for joining the domain.
    Many many thanks,

    Hi there,
A simple suggestion , please make sure both MacBook Pro clock and the server clock are the same meaning the hour/Min/ sec both should match. A least difference of 3 seconds is fine.
I had faced this problem in many place and only solution was to match the time and it will bind immediatly.

  • New Windows server 2003 Hyper-V guest fails to boot

    Hello,
I'm currently doing some virtualization experiments on my new server hardware. The host hardware is:
    IBM x3650 M4
    x2 Xeon E5-2609
    32GB RAM
    x2 480 GB SSDs
    Server OS: Windows server 2012
I'd like to test some legacy app virtualization. I've configured a VM and have installed Windows server 2003. The install is done via DVD. The issue at hand is that after the initial installation, the server fails to boot. The VM goes into a reboot loop
and so far the only error logging I'm able to find is in the hosts event log.

If its relevant, the host is not yet activated license wise. I downloaded the demo version so I could test my idea before making a purchase to go ahead with full implementation.
As it stands right now I'm not sure how to troubleshoot this. Many searches on google have not turned up any helpful info. Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    D

    Hi ,
First , please refer to the supported guest OS of windows 2012 hyper-v :
    http://technet.microsoft.com/library/hh831531.aspx
2003/R2 should be with sp2 and max 2 virtual processors .
"'LegacyTS' was reset because an unrecoverable error occurred on a virtual processor that caused a triple fault."
If the issue is not due to the above items , you can try to check the "CPU compatibility " in that VM settings for troubleshooting:
     Hope it helps

  • Windows server 2008 R2 x64 Authentication failure while try to access Windows server 2003 R2

    Hello,
I try to access Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard from Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 standard using integrated windows authentication . And because my application tries to read SQL server i'm getting and error that user is not trusted. Then I tried to open a
simple shared folder on  2003 and none of the users is able to do it. Both servers are part of common workgroup in the same IP range. Using domain is not an option. Migrating 2003 to 2008 is not an option either. The specific DB provider I have to use
supports only windows authentication, so creating user into SQL server is not an option too. I have tested many applications and cases which requires/uses windows authentication and non of the manage to connect.
Any help is very welcome because things are urgent!
    Authentication failure

That method in workgroup mode may be a problem.

2 Press the Novo button and then select BIOS Setup
There should be a tab labelled something like "Configuration" and on that page something like "SATA controller mode".  Select "compatible" and save and exit.
I'm not certain this will fix your problem, but it's worth a try.

  • Printing problems on Windows server 2003

    Hi All,
I was printing perfectly on my shared printer (HP Laserjet 1000) on my Windows server 2003 with a domain.
Since this week I can't print anymore. I keeps failing with failed authentification. Nothing changed on my server or iMac except the latest security patches on the iMac.
The event log shows up user _lp that is trying to access the printer... not the user that I'm using...
I tried to uninstall and reinstall the printer on the iMac without success.
Anyone has an idea how to fix this ?
    Thanks,
    Pascal

I'm having the same problem now with printers on Windows 2000 systems. The print queue (which worked forever on 10.4 and initially on 10.5) now gets access denied from the SMB server. The "add authentication" thread doesn't fix it as the latest update seems to send user ID "_lp" to the SMB server rather than the user credentials set up in CUPS.
I tried "smb://user:password@server/printer" and it still doesn't work.
Again, it's worked for a long while and just recently broke due to Leopard or an update.

  • Connecting iPads to an Enterprise Wireless 802.1x (EAP-TLS) Network Using Windows Server 2003 IAS

    Hi there,
I am asked to deploy iPads on an 802.1x EAP-TLS WiFi network. The customer has a Windows Server 2003 IAS server providing RADIUS. There also is a Windows based CA infrastructure in place. This solution is in production and is already being used by other wireless devices. Could someone please highlight the configuration steps for the iPad deployment? The customer whishes to automate the initial deployment and the renewal of the certificates. I have a basic understanding of 802.1x, RADIUS, Certificates etc. in a Windows infrastructure but I am new to enterprise deployment of iPads. There is no MDM tool in place by the way...
I did find a Microsoft article which I think describes what needs to be done: http://blogs.technet.com/b/pki/archive/2012/02/27/ndes-and-ipads.aspx. This article basically states the following steps:
    1. Create a placeholder computer account in Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS)
    2. Configure a Service Principal Name (SPN) for the new computer object.
    3. Enroll a computer certificate passing the FQDN of the placeholder computer object as a Subject Name, using Web Enrollment Pages or Certificates MMC snap-in directly from the computer (Skip step 4 if you are using the Certificates MMC snap-in)
    4. Export the certificate created for the non-domain joined machine and install it.
    5. Associate the newly created certificate to the placeholder AD DS domain computer account manually created through Name Mappings
The article then elaborates on specific steps needed for the iPad because it treats all certificates as user certificates. Can someone confirm this behavior??
    Regards,
    Jeffrey

Use VPP.  Select an MDM.  Read the google doc below.

  • Active Directory not working Windows Server 2003 R2

    Hi,
Like the subject said my root problem is either my Active Directory or DSN server. In order to properly explain the situation I will have to make the full Story. I was contacted by a family member to help
out a Non profit organisation with there server problem. Their current config is Windows Server 2003 R2 Running DC,AD,DNS,DCHP,File Services( i know is not efficient).
Here is how I come in to play, prior of me helping the had another server running same spec started having hardware failure and the invested in a new server. The person that set it up did replicate the server
on the new one as far as AC and Domain controller but nothing else. We ll now the DC01 failed and no user cannot login into a new computer
or if a new employee will try to added the changes don't take effect. Seeing the situation I went for the basic and seize fsmo roles to the new server. Perform Metadata clean up. Configure the DC02 as Master Domain Controller. Now everything
is set up and running but still No new user can be added or any exiting can log in
a different computer. At this point am out of answer I try everything I found in the forum. Am almost to the verge of deleting all and start
from scratch me knowing all config. Sorry for the long story am not good on resuming stuff. Please let me know If I need to add any other detail
    I repeat DC01 is DEAD...
Also when a new user try to login or an existing user try to loging they get the system cannot log you on now because the domain is not available

Not Sure if this is the info requested but I ran the commands
