OpenUI Binocular Search

Hi,
We are currently working to move to Siebel OpenUI from Siebel 8.1.1.4 .
In our current application we are extensively using Binocular Search and as per Best Practices: Deployment Guide for Siebel Open UI, HI and SI clients on 8.1.1.10/8.2.2.3: Document 1499842.1, Binocular Search is not available in OpenUI.
We are looking for workaround for the binocular search to be developed for OpenUI. If anybody has developed such a thing, please share with us.
Also, does anybody have any idea if this feature will be delivered as FP in near future?
Appreciate any help in this.

Not sure about the cost assignment drill down, but after we applied SP13 to SRM server 550 the binoculars for cost center stopped working. the following note corrected this.
Note 1259735 - Search help of generic account does not work
If it has never worked, then probably need to setup a RFC dialog user for the F4 search help, Multiple threads on here around the dialog user for F4 with details on configuration and use.

Binocular search for Cost Center is not returning any data

Hi Gurus,
When clicking on the SRM-Shooping Cart-Cost Assignment- Account Assignment Overview- Cost center Binocular search icon, it is not returning any data. However, when drilling down in the Account Assignment Overview, you will see another Binocular search icon for Cost Center which is working fine.
Any idea of how you troubleshoot it.

Binocular Search for a Page dimension

Hi All,
For a project dimension defined as page dimension in the webform which have 120 members, Binocular search button appearing in the next to Page dimension drop down. But where as Department dimension having 46 members binocular search button is not appearing.
Is there any criteria or setting in order to Binocular search button should appear for the page dimension in the webform?

Binocular search for Cost Center

Hi everybody,
I want to add accounting category and cost center Infos to BID document. So I added the following fields to the CI_BBP_HDR and CI_BBP_HDR_BID structures:
ZZCOST_CTR of type KOSTL
ZZACC_CAT of type BBP_ACC_CAT
How can I add a binocular search to ZZCOST_CTR that takes in consideration the ZZACC_CAT value?

Hi Antonio,
You have 2 options:
- try to activate generic accounting screen in BBP_BID_INV (I never did it)
- re-use the standard R/3 search feature with a R/3 dialog RFC used in SC/PO item accounting screen (see thread How to restrict the Cost Center Search ?)
In that case, look at FORM f4_search_costcent of LBBP_PDH_ACCF20 to see how SRM uses META_SHLP_CALL.
For CUF, you can assign search help in the CI structure field definition.
So you have 2 options:
- create a Z search help that re-use the logic of FORM f4_search_costcent (read user's attribute ACS to get the FI system), and assign it in your CI structure
- use BADI to handle CUF in your own specific screen, so you can use the instruction PROCESS ON VALUE-REQUEST (like in SAPLBBP_PDH_ACC 2000).

Back-end communication error for r/3 parameter search

Hello everyone,
Have been facing this problem for sometime now.When i was clicking on 'binoculars/search' find to check for account assignment on web gui,i was getting this error "display not possible...inconsistency in input help" error.
I did configuration setting in 'define back-end' system(defined the last column of rfc destination), and the error disappeared and is working fine in sandbox.
Now when i do the same in development system,'inconsistency' error no longer pops up but another one pops up saying "error while communicating with the back-end system..inform system admin."
Just to let you all know,i am able to create back-end documents...it is just when i am trying to use "binoculars/find" in account assignment...the 'backend communication error pops up.
I have tried everything possible..checked all attributes..everything is fine.
Can someone assist me?I must be missing something very simple...plz suggest.

Search for G/L account in shopping cart

Hi Experts,
I have a question regarding default data in the search function in shopping cart.
When I create a shopping cart, I don't have any data defaulted into the field for G/L account. We would like the user to open the 'area' cost assignment and make the allocation for G/L account them self.
My question is: When the user activate ' cost assignment' press on the binoculars in the field 'G/L account no., a search screen is activated. In the search screen there are some default data, company code, launguage, chart of account, etc. WHERE DOES THESE DEFAULT DATA COMES FROM?

Depend upon your product category that is selected in SC and Cost center the G/L Account data comes up.. in SRM there is a table called BBP_DET_ACCOUNT here the data is configured... so if you check here you will find for that particular product category what are the G/L Accounts maintained...

How do i search for a tag across 1063 folders (13361 pictures)

I'm migrating from Element 8 and can't find any setting to find which of my 13361 pictures in 1063 folders have a tag I had defined

If you have a folder or album selected in PSE13 Organizer, click the back button (All Media)
Once you are in the All Media view, you simply choose the tags panel, then put a check-mark against the required keyword.
The binoculars icon should appear to indicate Organizer is searching. Wait for the results and when finished click Clear, to begin a new search.

Cost Center & GL Account search not working.

Hello all,
I am having the following problem while creating a shopping cart, at the Cost Assignment (item level). When I click on the binoculars for searching CC or GL Accounts, i get the following message: "Display not possible (inconsistency in the input help)".
Now, I've researched and tried every possible suggestion:
1. Make sure the requester has permissions BBP_FUNCT/value: BE_F4_HELP, and S_RFC/value:* (SU01), among many others.
2. I have assigned to the requester the respective roles in the organizational structure.
3. Changed the RFC user (from SRM to R/3) from type "communications" to dialog. This user has SAP_ALL in the backend system.
I have run out of ideas of what might be the problem. I've searched through the forums and used all of the ideas mentioned above, but the problem is still there.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Search help for Acct Assignment not working

Hi,
When I create a PO and go into the account assignment tab at the item level and try to bring up the search help by clicking on the Binoculars , nothing happens. The backend has been upgraded to ERP2005. We are on SRM 5.0
Any thoughts on why this could happen?
Can you shed some light on how I could investigate this issue.

This is a bug in the System. Are you talking of customer fields / standard fields - search help ?
You need to raise an OSS message with SAP on this.
Meanwhile, try these SAP OSS notes.

Search Button in Transaction SM30

Good Morning,
I want to know if it's possible to activate de search button in transaction SM30.
What i mean is, when you call transaction SM30 and you choose to modify some data from a table, the search button (binoculars) is deactivated.
It looks to me like this is SAP standard for that Status GUI in particular...
Will the button be activated in any circumstances? If yes, in which circumstances will it be activated?
If no, is it possible to do so by my own? If yes, how can i do it?

Hi Pedro,
If the table is created by you, then do not define the field by referring to the dataelement or domain, but declare it as a flat data type.
for example do not have matnr referring to matnr data element. Instead declare it as matnr of char18 type.

Search Button not working in Solman 7.1

Hi,
We are using Solman 7.1. However, in Solar02, when I search for anything from the left tree structure using the search button ( The binocular button ) , it says text not found. We generally get a list of folders in that left tree. Any text that is present in that tree structure, if I search by that, it does not return anything.
Is there any Snote that is available for this issue.

The structure search will only find perfect matches.
eg.:
If you have a structure node called "Node 01" and you search for the term "01", it'll not be found. You need to search for the exact name or use "*".
If you search for "*01" you will find the node "Node 01".
Also, make sure you have a higher level node select as the search function will only look for nodes that are child nodes of the one you've selected.

F4 search help

Hi,
I have created some custom fields for shopping cart cost assignment. The custom fields have been added to the structure INCL_EEW_PD_ACC_CSF.
Now in the web the fields are displayed under cost assignment with a search help (binocular icon) next to each custom field.
The problem is that when the user clicks on the F4 search help (binocular icon), we would like to fetch the data from R/3 and display the data. Is there any badi which is triggered on click of the F4 search help (binioculars) for custom fields so that we can retrieve the data from R/3 and display possible values?
Is there any other way/approach to achieve this requirement, then please share.

What we need is that on click of F4 search help, we want to retrieve the data from R/3.
So in the elementary search help that we have created what should be the value in the selection method? Usually it is the name of a table from which we are going to retrieve the data. But since the table is an R/3 table, and the search help is in SRM, what table should we give in the search help?

How do i do an advanced search when using adobe reader within a firefox window?

i used to be able to do an advanced search within a firefox tab, but when i updated firefox to version 33.0 from version 17.x, the interface changed and i can't figure out how to do it, any longer.
eventually, i figured out that a simple search can be done with control-F, but i'd like to get the advanced search panel.
when i use internet explorer, it has an icon of binoculars that will open advanced search. firefox does not have this.

Advanced Search relies on the use of a Catlog index built by the Acrobat search engine.
The browser add-ons cannot access the Catalog index.
Advance Search via Catalog indexes of network based PDF collections is possible.

Change customer search in the SearchCriteria_BOB_Sales

Hi Gurus,
I want to change the search page to input the search fields for the customer search when i click on the binocular field in front of the customer number under Transactions column.
We want to perform search in the MDM instead of our CRM database.
Presently it opens the displayhelpvalues.jsp and i am not sure where they have pointed the search button to this page.
Please let me know if you guys have any clue.

First of all, I am not sure, telephone number will flow in sale order either at header level or at item level. Nevertheless, check whether that field is there in OVA2 so that through incompletion log, you can prevent saving the sale order.
